How far apart are outcropping and UFO crash-site?
Two different battles, or rather one, with potentially different 'spawn' points?

TAR-VI |

Just noticed that my battle map went live already, whoop-whoop.
So the black block is the UFO and the black markings on the yellow rockside probably indicate cave openings, right?
Going with that assumption for now.
+++ PROXIMITY WARNING.
ENEMY CONTACTS IN IMMEDIATE VICINITY +++
Irritated, TAR-VIs tactical analysis engine suppresses the slightly redundant data stream from the battlefield parsing unit.
Activating the tactical channel to the troops, TAR-VI sends target prioritization and approach vectors.
+++ Squad 5: Take down close-by humanoid Creature.
Grenadiers: Two Frags at that second humanoid and that 'Zerkling'.
Squad 4: Target any remaining targets within 3 TU tactical units = squares prioritized as follows: humanoids > zerkling > spider > hover-bots.
Snipers: Take down the Hover-Bot above the UFO unless any humanoid contacts survived the first salvo. +++

"Listen up soldiers, keep your tactics and equipment in mind.
Remember the base tactics that we have established, advance in alternate squads so you always have cover."
"When encountering the enemy, take down the sectoids that seems to control the zergs so that we can see what happens."
"The people with longer range weapons will give covering fire so the ones with heavier shorter range weapons can get into position."
"Make maximum use of cover at all times, and for god sake, use those medkits.
Any time we win but lose a soldier makes it a partial win, at best!"

Upon seeing that everything his cell is capable of has been done Anderson heads to shooting range for some R&R. After some time and getting sure he didn't lost his skills while he was unable to train. Then he tends to some personal matters, making use of time alone untill he decides to start working on something for XCom.
Link me to co-ordination director of Council. There's something we should done in the beggining
Commander waits untill comms are setup and after formalities he starts talking
I assume you heard about our little incident in Turkey. Nothing serious happened but we cannot operate together with other militaries on common goals if we cannot communicate and their commanding officers won't accept any orders from us. Noone sane would listen to anyone calling him who says that he is from secret counter alien force even though this is exactly what we are.
This is why I propose that every unit would receive briefing about new secret special ops branch being created. Each regiment would know a codephrase under which we would identificate ourselves. We would obviusly have list of codephrases for each regiment while they would only know theirs. This way this system would be more difficult to exploit and we could enjoy improved co-operation while keeping are secrecy.
If this would be successfull there should no longer be any accidents like the one in Turkey with Johnston

1 round has passed. Each of your grenadiers has used 1 frag grenade. The purple circle at the top right of the UFO is the second zergling (he's right around the corner, so your guys can see him even though the camera angle means you can't).
And yes, the dark marks on the sides of the rock are the cave entrances.
the time that I was going to use to work on this ended up being time I spent trying not to be sick. I'm about to make another post in the discussion thread explaining the changes I'm making to battlemaps, since doing on Tabletop Simulator is simply taking too much time. Thanks for still being patient with me.

Keep moving guys! Don't let this cool game die ;-)
The new maps should work well too and are probably a heck easier too throw together and manage, right?
So a clear win-win.
A pulsing input from one of TAR-VIs tertiary tactical nodes draws the attention of TAR-VIs mainframe.
"If an attack goes well, it's probably an ambush."
A well-known military quote, warning commanders of ambushes... Probably an important thing to remember.
Scanning the battlefield one more time, TAR-VI activates the real-time communication to the deployed squads.
"Squad 5: Advance to a forward position with cover and line of sight to those caves. Engage the remaining 'Zergling' on the way.
Grenadiers: Position switch to the south of the UFO, take up cover on it's side with field of sight to the caves.
Snipers: Engage machine constructs.
Squad 4: Target 'Zerglings' in support for the advance of Squad 5."

DiFortta took 2 damage. 2 more rounds have passed
Minder and Elofsson--I have placed the relevant symbols for your squads so that you can comment their stats (chevron is for someone with a carbine, blocky shape for LMG, and the arrow for shotgun). Minder, I still haven't had time to actually map out your map yet, which is why there's nothing there.
