Narunith Silvertree |

Indeed. :) Hello everyone!
God, I don't like this character portrait, but it does meet the description, other than the eye colour, of course.
I had the image of a particular person in mind, even though I did not write the description to perfectly describe her. (The features of the woman are not fine cut and not aristocratic, but she has a high forehead and slender face)
In case you're curious, though it may spoil the impression:

Albion, The Eye |

Though Albion will not be my alias, I am dotting with him.
Thank you for taking me on board rorek55, I know my concept is kinda funky, but I am hoping to make it work. I admit that the posted one is the first iteration (in terms of mechanics), but there are several other ways of doing what I am aiming to - a fully martial character which can buff himself with key arcane spells.
I am not going to make this an advice board post, but have gone through several ideas:
- Straight up fighter (or mix of martial classes) with an investment in UMD;
- Straight up fighter (or mix of martial classes) with a dip in an arcane casting class that will allow me access to spell trigger items like wands;
- Warpriest (because he is king in swift action divine buffing) with a dip in an arcane casting class OR UMD (as the two above options but using the Warpriest as a chassis;
- Something derived of the above (Warpriest Sacred Fist/Monk/Arcane class);
- Straight up Bloodrager (Arcane Bloodline offers some sweet buffs when you rage)
After looking over these options, I decided that with so many alternatives, the best was to think out my character concept, instead of its mechanical formulation, and that is why it took longer than it should :D
Anyways, apologies for the long post, and I am happy to be on board - updates to come soon.
I would like to know more about dwarven culture though, and Ivan Ironmug.

Narunith Silvertree |

Technically, since my character's name is based on Sindarin, it's not meant to pronounced as would be obvious either (the "th" at the is not pronounced as an English "th" but simply as "t") but I don't care either way.
In the case of Therie I am just curious whether that is supposed to be three syllables (The - ri - e) or two. And, well, whether it's supposed to be Sindarin as well, in which case the same as in my name would apply: The "th" is simply a "t".
It's gonna be curious to see how it turns out of elves do indeed constitute the majority, but aren't the only members of the group.

maeron, here is an archetype for you to look over, I think it may work well for you- Divine Hunter up to you though.
just so everyone knows, there is only one group of elves on this continent, you don't have to come from them necessarily, but you all might know of each other. (as such, Narunith most likely knows of the "elven girl that blew the dock")
Dwarves are very much loved in the land for their craftsmanship and building. The main HQ of the order was designed by dwarves, and much of it was lovingly hand carved and engraved by them as well.
my dwarves are slightly different in that, while they are still loud, boisterous, extremely practical and blunt, they are a 'bit' less greedy, and a 'bit' less xenophobic. They are the third most populace race in Azora behind only humans and halfings by a small margin. They are seen by most as stout, loyal, and trustworthy friends. They are very thourough and require completely finishing any project they start, and their discipline and attention to detail can sometimes wear thin on the other races, non the less they make marvelous travel companions and are good for more than a few laughs.
(anything in particular on Ivan or dwarves in general?)

Narunith Silvertree |

I am not going to make this an advice board post, but have gone through several ideas:
I have a habit of keeping things simple. The perfect character as far as I am concerned has one core class, no class combination and no prestige class.
But I think I may actually need some help with the feats. I thought it would be meaningful to stick with item creation and metamagic as a universalist but I can't see a clear path yet through this forest of feats yet...

Maeron Thurngood |

I've made the changes and took up the Divine Hunter archetype. Going to read up on all the elves now to see what false rumors and gossips Maeron knows about you all :).

Maeron Thurngood |

I've already skimmed it once, and loved what I read. Be careful, as Maeron needs a mate. Not sure he can handle you, though, and there is this cleric in the Order...
You're wizard 3, by the way :)

Narunith Silvertree |

I made some fixes to the character story, and linked it as both EPUB and PDF instead of just dumping it as text. The last chapter still needs corrections.
Be careful, as Maeron needs a mate. Not sure he can handle you, though, and there is this cleric in the Order...
Well, there is a reason that Narunith has a reputation of being a virtuous young maiden. And that reasons is discretion. Consequently, I'll say no more. :D

everyone, if you so wish, you could all have worked on a mission already, or more likely, worked together during the final training mission.
you have met
Dart (Dartaniel Vilandir) self proclaimed hero of the order, all around good guy, master swordsman and ladies man.
Daniel- son of the headmaster
once everyone posts up with their updated alias and are ready to go we will start, waiting on rockjaw.

Rockjaw Runefinger |

Well here i am!
Sadly i still got to do a flurry of writing t get my guy good to go, but that is project neumero 1 now :)
Im ok with dwarves being a little less greedy, a little less xeno, fine by Rockjaw.
Btw, his name is pronounced pretty much exactly as spelt :(
would also like to know more about Ivan as I see him being a character Rockjaw would quite enjoy, using your head and drinking and crafting and all that :)
off to write!

Rockjaw Runefinger |

Well that went a lot quicker then i anticipated :)
His crunch is all done except for 1 trait and about 900gp.
So, good to go!

Mikhail, the knight |

Been a bit occupied, but here I am. Happy to be aboard.
Mikhail is quite simple in his ways and has spent the last years training to become a full-fledged questing knight.
He's a talented duelist, both with word and rapier. ^_^
Spends his free time playing music in the inns of Spero.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

Maeron Thurngood |

Trying to build some initial (mis)conceptions about the elven party members:
Narunith Silvertree
(Gonna insert my family into your background here, if that's ok with you...)
Maeron Thurngood escorted his mother Behl to represent his house at the Silvertree wedding that joined Mornith and Landir. While Maeron was most excited about the prospect of meeting and speaking with Gwendir, at his mother's urging he was polite enough to introduce himself to Narunith. She may very well not have remembered him in the midst of the countless greetings that she must have endured that day. Sadly, it appears a lady by the name of Candwen took about all of Gwendir's attention, even when he were not around her.
Narunith seemed pleasant enough, and that blue dress did plenty to accentuate her beauty. However, there were rumors about Narunith and her wild side. Although none of it were substantiated, and it is most difficult to think of a sibling of Gwendir behaving in such manners, still...
Therie Gorget
The girl involved in The Dock Incident? Maeron vaguely recalls news a woodsman of some renown, Arrak, took her under his wings to rein her in. There was little news of her since. Fancy meeting her here...
Ok, any other elves?
Dalrin, Rockjaw, Mikhail, got no history with them.
Maeron is looking forward to working with you all.
By the way, Rockjaw, what's with the hate on the elves? Is there some history that would've made the elven lore? With the proper elven slant inserted, of course :P

Rockjaw Runefinger |

It isnt so much hate for all elves as it is a hate for dark elves. A big part of him is that he has wandered in the underdark for a while before coming to the Order of Dawn. As such he has things like Deep Warrior, minesight and survival (although quite frankly i have no idea how he could have survived in the underdark for any length of time with a complete inability to climb, swim, sneak, run or heal :p we wont talk about that...)
considering that i am in a party of elves, i figure ill play it more as a grumbling rivalry with surface elves, kind of like gimli and leogolas from LotR. That and take any chance to prove "dwarves are best" xD

Maeron Thurngood |

However, legend has it the 42 kills included an Oliphaunt. The mass of that thing alone must have been worth at least 3 kills.
A little something to (hopefully) brighten your day

That sounds good to me. If you wanted anything specific from Gwendir, Narunith would have offered you to deliver the message, but certainly not insisted if you wouldn't tell. Given your charisma, she certainly would have danced with you if you asked her, but shied away from further intimacy.
Questions about her more recent history would have been answered with a mysterious smile.
And she would have been curious about life as an adventurer - she is shy about talking about it, but she intends to break out of her shell. Even though her greatest achievement so far is being struck down by a gnoll.

Mikhail, the knight |

@Maeron,
No elves here. But for what it's worth there are 2 dwarves in it :)
@Narunith Silvertree,
Beautiful background, I skimmed through it and read the parts that really caught my attention (do plan to read it in full, but currently not much time ^_^).
@Therie Gorget,
"The Dock Incident?" Sounds like a bunch of fun ^_^
@Rockjaw Runefinger, surviving in the underdark ... Nice :)
Going to be an interesting bunch I think :)

Maeron Thurngood |

you have met
Dart (Dartaniel Vilandir) self proclaimed hero of the order, all around good guy, master swordsman and ladies man.Daniel- son of the headmaster
The Rose name is known to most Elves, and Maeron is glad to have met Daniel and finally be able to put a face to a name.
Is Dart closer to The Nine (those listed in the recruitment thread) in authority and experience within the Order, or closer to us?
Have we met any others of The Nine?
Do you have an image of Mai Silvia? I found them helpful for getting first impressions.
Ryuu Rosewell- Master of arms, oversees all trainees during there training and forsees the ending trail for them to become true knights of the order when there time arrives. 6'2", happy and excitable, comes off as very carefree, but has a serious side.
Mai Silvia- head knight of the Pegasus knights, (knights in Silver). reserved but kind. half elf. 5'10",
Arrak Ravenmore- Ranger, lives out in the forest outside Spero, oversees all who train in ranged combat. Also is the head of the information division and oversees all reports from the informants throughout the kingdom. Friendly, but harsh. Extremely blunt with his thoughts.
Aia Youichi- Head cleric of Sarenrea, oversees most clerics within the order as well as handling most missions to give aid to the people. Kind, Believes violence is wrong and believes that noone is beyond redemption. extremely diplomatic
Daniel Rose- Son of the headmaster, a paladin in training. Strongheaded, good of heart, but prone to.. accidents.
Nathan Rellin- Order Archmage, oversees all training of those dabbling in the arcane. Does all sorts of odd jobs for the Headmaster as well. Eccentric and sharp, sometimes seems a world away. disappears for days at a time.
Synthia Aris- Sorcerer, holds no real position in the order, but helps the odd few individuals with innate power like her when and if she can. Does odd things and keeps the main temple tidy. Quiet and shy to most, but outgoing and friendly to those she knows.
Ivan Ironmug- Dwarven warrior and old friend of the Headmaster. Designed most of the stonework of the Headquarters and oversees most training and events with Ryuu, brings quite a loud humor with him wherever he goes. Also will aid others in learning the arts of smithing and crafting. Even sometimes attempts to show recruits the proper dwarf way of "usin' yer ead'"

Therie Gorget |

From Therie's point of view
@Maeron
she would know of the Thurngood name and House Redthurn, but wouldn't know much of who any of them are. Just that they exist.
@Mikhail:
They call it the dock incident. Therie calls it a gross over-reaction to a pretty impressive explosion.
@Narunith: Therie may recognize you from the library but that's likely about it prior to her starting training.
Everyone else should would have met for the first time when training began.

Mikhail, the knight |

I kinda figured we would also have met Ryuu Rosewell, as he oversees training and final trials :)
@Therie, it's all in the eye of the beholder ;)

Narunith Silvertree |

From Therie's point of view
@Narunith: Therie may recognize you from the library but that's likely about it prior to her starting training.
I was thinking about this, too. I thought I had posted it actually.
I was thinking a former teacher or mentor of Narunith's might have talked about Therie and the two got to know each other that way.

Therie Gorget |

@Narunith: I like that idea. Can certainly work that concept in, that Therie and Narunith know each other reasonably well. Let say they know each other Well enough that you would know that the "dock incident" wasn't anything malicious on Therie's behalf, more of "By the gods Therie, why would you think that was a good idea?" type of thing.

Rockjaw Runefinger |

Ok, so i took the Big Boned trait and gave Rockjaw a few more potions since i didnt know wat else to spend the cash on. (he still has 600ish gp)
also deleting the pre-gen calculations now :)
He is 100% crunched :D

Albion, The Eye |

I'm already on Christmas crazy mode - youngest school presentation today ;)
But update is guaranteed for tonight - again apologies for the delay, but crunch (we already have a Barb, so I moved away from that. Going Slayer/Sorcerer) and backstory are set.
Rorek, one question: if I go Aasimar, and take Scion of Humanity, am I allowed human FCB?

Narunith Silvertree |

Don't worry Dalrin, we can always throw in a cart and take you with us to the orphanage. I may be strong enough to throw you as an improvised thrown weapon.
*squints to Dalring*
*taps with a foot**squints again*
Pssst! That was you cue! "Nobody tosses a dwarf!"

Maeron Thurngood |

I've got K(Religion) and K(Nobility), so I assume I make the roll with the best modifier (they're the same). Can one take 10 on knowledge checks?
K(Nobility): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Just equipped myself with a silver Redthurn token, reflecting my status in the Redthurn House. I priced it at 25gp, and will think on a design for the Thurngoods.
