Tierce's Untitled Campaign (Inactive)

Game Master Tierce

51 to 100 of 130 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

If I had to say with absolute certainty right now, I would say "Champion" would be Aaliyah's main path

Guardian would be Dorotea's main path, with Archmage picked up at tier 3.

GM Tierce:
Damn, that's what I thought. Okay, slight rework on the concept. What about going with an Aasimar and Tiefling coupling? That would still give me the 'Heaven/Hell' mixture I'm looking for, and give me a stronger connection for the Riftwarden Orphan trait.

Hokay, I think that's everything. Had a friend who did have access to herolab help me with a quick number crunch to get him down to 15-point buy. I figure low Wisdom is a good match for his mild anger management issues, and something that can be worked on...

Fallen_Mage:
Would that still make you an Aasimar for the race?

GM Tierce:
I don't see why not. I look at it as a 50/50 shot of coming out Aasimar or Tiefling. Although I guess there is the small possibility of the kid ending up human, but for dramatic effect it'd be more fun to do Aasimar with the Infernal Bloodline.

Tierce: sent another PM:

This is why I should keep watch on this subforum during the weekend.
Too late to submit for a champion path character?

The idea is a prideful Hobgoblin Cavalier.
He does not like demons.
He also has been assigned to military service in the Worldwound (by his own suggestion) by the government of Molthune for excessive terror-tactics on the battlefield against Nirmathas.

I leave it to you to decide if that would fit or whether you would want me to submit.

Ekeli - stat it up, you still have until Friday night to submit a character

Working on that now, needs a bit of adjustment as I originally did him as a 20 pt buy.

Background is largely worked out, not formally written yet however.

Yes, I am evil and made you all crunch with 15 pt buy, mwhahahahahaha!

Seems cool, though my character idea might need a bit of helping working in later on. I really like the Hell Knight Commander PrC was wondering if it was okay of based on some of its requirements would be to much of a hassle.

First person to ask about Hellknights! Only requirement is that you have to be from the Order of the Godclaw as they take a very active role in the crusades.

GM Tierce, here's my background for my character. I don't have access to HeroLab right now, so I can't post a full stat-block, but I at least wanted to give you the full history I had typed up for my Stonelord. I know you said a paragraph or two was a good enough backstory, but...heck, I just couldn't help myself. Please let me know what you think!

Barundar Hammerfist:
Protector. From his very first memories as a dwarven toddler, Barundar has always seen himself as a protector. It didn't matter if he was protecting a family pet from some wild animal or one of his own family members from some real or imagined threat, Barundar Hammerfist has always done everything he could to protect those he cared for from harm. Barundar suffered his fair share of defeats at the hands of bigger and tougher foes that had little respect for the tenacity of the dwarf with blue eyes. He garnered his fair share of battle-scars from these encounters as well, though no injury was ever so bad that it took him longer than a week or two to bounce back. His willingness to throw himself into danger with little regard for his own safety earned him a reputation among his family and friends as a dwarf who would take inordinate punishment in place of his companions.

As he grew older, Barundar's father did as most dwarves do and began teaching his son how to use a weapon. His father was particularly skilled with a very unusual weapon: the dorn-dergar, a ten-foot heavy chain punctuated by a solid ball of iron the size of a large fist. At Barundar's insistence, his father began teaching him the use of the exotic weapon, glad to pass on the tradition of skill and practice needed to master the weapon as well as the secrets of drawing strength from the very stone at his feet.

Unfortunately, during his youth, Barundar also learned the true meaning of one particular human phrase: Sometimes you eat the bear...and sometimes the bear eats you. Traveling with his father through Mendev, they overheard cries of help from over a hill. Though his father tried to stop him, the young dwarf ignored their cries, quickly pulling out his chain-flail and rushing off to do what he could to help those in need. When topped the ridge, a horrible sight greeted him: a family's traveling wagon on it's side, splintered, splatters of red painting the sides of white canvas covering the vehicle. Stalking around it was a strange, emaciated figure, looking for all the world like the skeleton of a human, save for the large horns on it's head and the strange sheen of slime covering it. He would later learn this creature was a demon known as a babau.

For the first time in his memory, Barundar felt hesitation at taking on an enemy. And then he saw the bodies. A human man and woman laying face-down on the ground, pools of blood forming beneath them, as a human child who couldn't have been (comparatively) much younger than he was running for the nearest cover...which was much too far away. No Rushing forward, completely forgetting his own safety and inexperience, Barundar gave a battle cry as he whirled his chain-flail above his head, screaming for the child to run for the treeline. As intended, his shouts drew the attention of the demon, which hissed loudly as the young dwarf charged.

The next memory Barundar had was of waking in a clean-sheeted bed, blurry-eyed and confused. A person or two he didn't know milled about the bed, as if keeping an eye on him; when they saw he was awake, one of them immediately rushed out of the room, coming back moments later with Barundar's father. After a tearful reunion, he was shocked to learn that he had been unconscious for two months; after the demon easily felled him, his father had been able to hold the creature off well enough until stronger allies arrived to help, but the damage to Barundar had been done. His father never left Medev, letting his family back home know what had happened so he could stay with his eldest son in Nerosyan, the capital of Mendev. His father had reasoned that if those who ended to the men and women who fought the demonic hordes of the Worldwound could not help their son, there was nothing else that could be done.

The healers tended him for weeks, each passing day lessening the hope that he would recover. They had nearly given him up the day he suddenly, inexplicably, came to. He was warned several times that his harrowing encounter had left him scarred, but what he confronted when he first saw a mirror was entirely unexpected: ropey scar tissue across his chest and abdomen, several more raking claw marks on his back, and two thick scar-lines that crossed his face diagonally, from just above his right eye to the left side of his chin. They told him frequently how lucky he was he had even survived, much moreso that he'd kept his eye.

The attack left Barundar with scars beyond the physical, as well, nightmares of Babau-demons stalking him plaguing his dreams and sometimes waking him in a cold, frightened sweat. It was as if he were an entirely different person from the eager protector he had thus far been, until another fateful encounter: the human girl he'd rescued. And her father, as well. While he recovered and regained his strength, the two of them contacted him with a letter, both of them offering their sincerest gratitude for saving their lives. The dwarf learned that they hadn't arrived in time to save the girl's mother, which broke his heart to learn. Even so, knowing that because of him, two people lived who would otherwise had certainly died served as an inspiration for him.

Barundar redoubled his efforts in his recovery, the almost supernatural rapidity of his recovery amazing the healers he was in the care of. There were even whispers of some preternatural force or heritage that gave him the strength to survive the attack when so many others would've perished, but he paid them no mind. It didn't matter. He knew his path. The demon took one person from Golarion before their time, but there were many, many other demons doing the same thing...and he knew it was his fate to do what he could to stop it.

As soon as he was old enough, Barundar departed his home and journeyed to Mendev, taking as many of his possessions with him as he could carry, intending to join the Crusaders fighting back the horde that poured forth from the Worldwound. Somehow, he knew that it was there he would find what he sought: people in need of aid, innocents in need of rescue. And he also knew he was just the dwarf to bring that respite to them.

If it meets your approval, GM Tierce, I'll go ahead over to the Gameplay thread and post there. Thank you!

Character sheet is updated so Thomas is good to go, his gear is on the second sheet.

For me at least, the only difference between 15pt and 20pt is the presence of a dump stat.

The 20pt version had a 10 CHA and a 13 STR.

I lost a CON and DEX mod. :(

Wasn't a huge deal for me, either. Just means 16 CON instead of 18 CON.

Once I finish my background will be good to post. Currently in class. ;-)

Here's the crunch.
I will be working on the backstory the rest of the day.

I'm withdrawing my application with Ars, he's been called in on another game. Have fun, y'all!

Also, GM Tierce, I didn't specify which mythic path I was going to aim for with Barundar. Given the background it's probably pretty clear, but I would shoot for the Guardian mythic path with him. No dual-tier.

Minor tweaks to the crunch, I added the Naive drawback and added the ambassador trait.

Fallen_Mage here, submitting Vaelor Drajuun. Aasimar Sorcerer on the path to become a great Archmage.

Really you had to take my avatar. Ok spell duel right now buddy, their can be only one! xP

that's rather hilarious

got my profile done:

linky here for Kayla

My apologies Nenthil. As you can see, I've taken the liberty of changing mine already.

GP: 0

Background:

Legend says he was the mightiest dwarf north of Five King Mountains. He was quick as a cat, strong as a bear, smart as a fox and though as a rhino. He walked the north in the time when the demons roamed the once proud nation of Sarkoris and singlehandedly saved the world from this awful menace.
Legends are not known for their historical accuracy.
This is a true story of his life…

Brief personal history:
Born during the Third Crusade and raised by uncle Alvin (nicknamed Anvil) – might not be his real uncle he was not even a dwarf but definitely his closest kin – in Mendev countryside. Alvin was a bard and Konny loved to listen to him talk (hence his surprising knowledge skills and love of uncommon and new words). He does not remember his parents as they were lost during the crusade. Alvin never told him how – it was one subject Alvin always tried to avoid.
As a child he liked to wander around a lot which led to two accidents. He got lost across the border in Worldwound and was rescued by mysterious stranger women – now he knows the importance of cooperation in the unforgivable land and the need to help those in need. Later he met a trespassing demon and got himself almost killed – he hates them ever since.
During his growing up and influenced by Alvin Konny learned to be unconventional in many aspects and jack-of-all-trades.
Konny went to Kenabres for the big celebration with intention to start looking for his lost parents.

Personality:
Thinks he is funny but other people often find him offensive. Although good natured, he seems rude (which is not his intention).
Likes to pretend he is a rascal thinking only about himself but has a golden heart.
Calls people he respects " brother"/"sister", others "sonny" or "kiddo" and those whom he dislikes "tidl" (as in "thing I dis-like").
He prays both to Desna and Torag, depending on the situation.

Loves: hammers, eatin', gamblin', sleepin'
Hates: demons, leaving meals unfinished, betrayal

The goal (long term): to find and reclaim the lost Sun Citadel of Jormurdun (official) and to find what really happened to his parents (secret)
The mission (short term): to eliminate the demon threat and help other people along the way
Fighting style: SoS - Sneak (around it) or Smash (through it)

Quotes (not necessarily memorable):
"Why do I have to be the volunteer again?!"
"I do have a bad feeling about it. From past experience it might or might not mean anything, that is for sure."
"Justice is best served with a hammer"
"Beware the power of dwarf-jutsu!"
"Trust me, you do not want me to do what uncle Anvil always did in situation like this"
"Uncle Anvil always said have a hammer handy"
"Uncle Anvil always said make sure you eat in the morning, you might not be able to later"
"Uncle Anvil always said future is always in motion, as are my bowels."
"Uncle Anvil always said ... (anything that fits the situation)"
"Uncle Anvil talked a lot."
"I have a charming personality as uncle Anvil charmed me once..."
On elves: "Might be faster and smarter but I am friendlier and funnier" (feeling not always shared by other people)
On gnomes: "They are ... colorful."
To halflings: "Could be dangerous, let me go first sonny."
On tieflings: "Horny bastards"
On humans:"Taller and often confused"

Important Equipment:
Bigiie – stands for Big E(qualizer) – his favorite Earth Breaker , usually reserved for serious fighting against dangerous foes
Littlee – warhammer , weapon of choice if surprised or in “casual” fighting

I was just playing, would only be a problem if we both got in. That would be rather confusing then. ;)

Hi GM Tierce,

I'm interested in submitting the following wizard/archmage for consideration. I've been wanting to create a character who worships a dead god for a little while now, and this AP seems like a nice way to do so. But... I'm just a little worried that the background might somehow not make sense if and when Max learns what his parents were up to in the Worldwound. Let me know if you think it's okay.

Ed, Phillip0614, Jetty, Maximillian - Everything looks good for all of you. When you feel you are ready and complete, please proceed into the discussion thread for our roleplaying event.

Just a note to everyone, I will begin compiling a list of applicants who are finished and have posted in the roleplaying event. I will also be starting to review each entry and may be submitting questions by pm

Here is the list of finished applications and that have posted in the discussion thread in our roleplaying event. Still have until Friday night to post and start roleplaying!

Dorotea Grymhaldt - Female Human (Chelaxian) Fighter (Lore Warden) - Guardian
Reinnwulf Storvagson - Male Human (Ulfen) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) - Champion
Aaliyah El-Amin - Female Human (Keleshite) Bard (Dawnflower Dervish) - Champion
Michael Carenae - Male Angel-Blooded Aasimar (Angelkin) Paladin (Divine Defender, Warrior of the Holy Light) - Marshal
Thomas Vinland - Male Human Cleric of Desna - Guardian
Enshi Gibil - Male Human Cleric of Sarenrae - Heirophant
Nenthil Wardcaller - Male Aasimar Abjurer - Archmage
Weyland Piper - Male Human Paladin (Shining Knight) - Guardian
Isaac of Steyr - Male Human Cleric of Damerrich - Marshal?
Vaelor Drajuun - Male Aasimar Sorcerer - Archmage

A lot of guardians, no tricksters yet.

Isaac, I took a guess, but are you going marshal as your path?

Well, I see three guardians already, but I'll try my luck with one more. Jens Varmodsson, male Ulfen cavalier (honor guard), heading into Guardian. Big man with a big horse, disillusioned and wracked by guilt, determined to stop as many people from dying as possible before he goes under. I've got his progression planned out for the first 12 levels or so, because I'm unemployed and apparently have nothing better to do with my time.

I know my chances are slim, considering the competition, but hey. Gotta be in it to win it.

Jens was created for a WotR game that went under pretty quick (the same one Aaliyah was in), but I've adjusted him for your 15-point buy. I've built him for some good role-playing, and he should be interesting! Shall I head over to the role-playing thread?

Would be interesting to have two cavaliers, one for inspiring the team, one for demoralizing the enemy.

Looking forward to seeing who gets picked.

GM Tierce, my backstory is coming along rather nicely I think.

Out of curiosity, GM Tierce, how do you feel about typing out an in-character accent? Different people have different feelings about it, but I think I might like to try it if you're alright with it.

accents are fine as long as I can read it. Had some great dwarven players in the past with their Scottish type accents.

Kayla is going trickster just posted in RP thread...

And here's the backstory.

Champion path.

Spoiler:
A product of the Goblinblood Wars, Tikhon Zolnerowich did not have a pleasant early life by most human, even hobgoblin standards. He was born to a small tribe in southern Chitterwood on 20 Arodus, 4695 AR, three years before the wars began. As a result he was part of a generation put through aggression training from a younger age than usual for hobgoblin society. Rather small for his age, he learned to become feared in order to make up for his shortcomings.

This all ended 4700 AR, a period of time which saw the Hellknights, Eagle Knights, and Druma’s Mercenary League work together to route the goblins and force them back into the Chitterwood. Not wanting to leave behind the threat of the goblins however, they burned much of it to the ground. Some of this ground happened to be wear Tikhon’s tribe lived, and thus he was forced to flee. So flee he did, as far to the north he could until he could no longer.
As Tikhon was sleeping, he was abducted by cultists of Baphomet. At a mere five years of age, he was unable to fight back, and thus was forced to take part in their perverted ritual. However, this did not quite work out as they expected. Rather than absorb his soul as intended, the ritual’s demonic energy was absorbed into his body. Shocked at this unexpected turn of events, the cultists laid their guard down long enough for him to make his escape, going north and west all the while.

Crossing a small pass to the west of Finder’s Gulch, Tikhon came to the free city of Cettigne. There he was forced to live in the streets and alleys, an outcast who made his living in simple muggings and bully tactics to get food to survive. During his sleep, he was plagued by strange nightmares of the ritual he was forced to participate in. Eking out his meager existence, he survived until 4708 AR, when the nation of Molthune used their resources to save the city from the lawlessness that had taken the city into its grip.

No longer able to hide in the shadows, he was faced with two options. He could either become a slave, or serve in the Imperial Army of Molthune for the next five years to earn freedom. Already acclimatized towards war from his younger years, he decides this that the latter would be his best course of action. It was during this time that he decided to give himself the name Tikhon Zolnerowich, so that he could properly enlist.

For the first year, he was trained extensively in all combat styles, so that they could best decide where to place him. When they placed him on a mount however, he found himself to be a natural rider. Thus they decided he would be a part of the cavalry. Assigned an exceptional powerful steed that was grey with a white mane and white tail, he went on to fight in several skirmishes against Nirmathas over the next few years. He used his ability to inspire fear to great effect, causing the lesser soldiers to give up in fear. Whenever one of these weaker willed men surrendered, he accepted it, not wanting to pass up the chance to earn prestige among those who deal with slaves. His penchant for taking the final blow in an attempt to earn glory earned him the nickname Rostislav.

Nearing the end of his service, he started thinking about what he would do after his service. Still plagued by his nightmares of demons, he wondered if there would be any way to stop them. Learning a bit about the Worldwound through here-say while off-duty, he decided that it would be best to head north to destroy demons. Even if it didn’t stop the nightmares, he could destroy demons aplenty while there.

BACKSTORY
Jaali came from simple and humble beginnings. Born to a family of farmers, he was considered to be very ordinary. The only real notable thing about him was the fact that he can make fruit ripen with a touch. He just lived his ordinary. One night, he woke up to a faint voice calling his name. He armed himself with his quarterstaff and left the house. He followed the voice to a lone and old oak tree on a hill near the property. Upon his arrival, mysterious wisps of energy began to manifest. The voice said that he was Aroden. Aroden told Jaali that he was making his return. He said that he chose Jaali to become his herald, spreading the news of his return and establish a religious footing for Aroden. To aid Jaali in this endeavor, Aroden infused him with some of his energy, imbuing him with the power of the Heavens. However, to receive such a gift, Jaali must endure a physical imperfection. Aroden removed Jaali’s use of his left leg. As a final gift, Aroden gave Jaali his holy symbol made of silver. Aroden told him that Jaali had to travel Mendev and the rest will be revealed to him. Jaali returned to his home, immediately began to pack, and left for Mendev to embrace his destiny.

Nope. My character is pretty much done. I actually had him planned and stated out beforehand (just needed to adjust ability scores and all stats connected to them).

Your in the list for being done

And points to those who can call out the two people I'm referencing in my last post, along with their original tales.
