May be a knowledge skill to know where to put the last two light. Because if Daeron knows where to put two of them, he don't know - except for their order - where two put the two other.
Bemmer - Kyra
Yeah, we kniw the red and blue, but not the yellow and green i think? Where's that camel. Maybe we can do some trigonometry to work out beam angles and stuff to find where to put them?
Daeron Woodblood
|
@Kyra/Bemmer : that's correct. I think something like that could work. So Know. (engineering) I suppose or may be Know. (geography)
Daeron tries to not laugh at the strange speech of the two paladins. Sometimes being a hero needs some sacrifice !

You can tell that the remaining two gem stone mus fall in between the red and blue lights.

Okay, kind of got side tracked from combat.
Ezren lifts the green stone up in the air and propels it towards the statue.
The glaive catches the leg of the statue but is unable to upset him.
The reddish statue gives offense to the trip attempt and moves in on Omrijka. Only one strike connects.

Ezren using his magic, moves the yellow lantern to the topaz sages statue.
Omrijka delivers a nasty strike to the guardian ripping a chunk out of its torso.
Polly continues to hide behind her shield.
Kyra snatches the lantern out of the air and shove it into the outstretched hand of the statue.
The final light adjust, moving over to the topaz shaped recess. All four lights flare up and then dim. The rays come together to for a single light that seem to create a line in the crystal wall, bisecting. Making it more of a door now.
The red guardian stalls mid swing, then as if commanded. He returns to his place beside the crystal gateway. The other guardian does the same thing.
OUT OF COMBAT
Once back in place, the crystal cage that was holding Amenopheus falls away with the sound of breaking glass. He stumbles for a moment, before realizing what had happened.
Strange, did not realize it had that kind of defense. I guess visitors are not usually allowed in the meeting chamber. He pushes open the crystal door now. Let us enter before the guardians decide to activate again.
Following the Sapphire Sage into the next room, the pathfinders find a broad, simple, flat-topped column of sandstone rises from a deep pit in this circular, domed chamber with a white tiled floor. Though no wind can be felt, particles of sand slowly blow around the pit as if circulated by a lazy breeze, their movement creating a soft, rasping susurrus.
The only occupant in the room when you enter is a Garundi woman bedecked in the style of an Osirian Noblewoman.
The female lifts her head and gives a warm smile. Looking to the Amenopheus she speaks softly. Welcome home She bows her head and introduces herself to the others. I am the Diamond Sage, Tahonikepsu
The scenario is pretty much over, so I will be posting chronicles over in discussion. The next post will be just a wall of text between the two sages.
GM Z..D..
The sapphire sage returns the bow, Very nice to see you Tahonikepsu, it has been such a long time since I have seen you. Ages, it feels like. The sages have missed many opportunities in your absence. But now that you have returned, we may now rebuild what we have lost. With that he places the crushed remains of the ruby sage jewel on the table.
Yes, we shall rebuild. But we must figure out what caused this collapse in power.
The sapphire sage nods, It was an unfortunate side effect of outside forces. With the forces from Cheliax pressing the invasion of Osirion, pulling the need of sages, with out that, we would have thrived.
And that is the problem. The invasion only highlighted it as a weakness. With the sages so spread out and with out a leader, we were unable to react quickly and decisively to the threat of invasion.
Amenopheus responds defensively, What you see as a weakness is what is our strength Tahonikepsu. With us spread out and with out having to contact a leader, we are able to react quickly enough and independently of each other.
And if another true threat arises that calls for more than one of us.With out a dedicated leader, we will be just as disorganized as the last time.
How can we have a leader when there is nobody to lead. Amenopheus retorts. We need to rebuild. We need to recruit. We need to go to every library and find the most learned scholars they have.
Filling the sages with cloistered scholars are great for recording historical facts. But instead of record history, we should use what we know and better the world, and for once make history. We need to find sages that go out into the world and make things happen. We need sages that can be advisers to nobleman and women, and help steer the way to the future.
So you wish to break thousands of years of tradition, and ignore the founding principles of this organization. We know that only a well trained mind can understand the millennia of memories within a sage jewel. And you would hand that off to an travelling mage? Amenopheus stops to breath before continuing. How can you even begin to change what you nothing of. I have served as head of the Osirion faction for years and with my followers, like young Omrijka over here, have tried to raise the sages to it former glory. You are still but a stranger who we have no knowledge of.
If you wish to keep using the same tried method expecting a different result, you are the true definition of mad. For those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. She sighs and lowers her head, So you wish to know me, very well She takes a few steps back into the open chamber. She changes forms, where once a Garundi woman once stands, now a stands a purple hued dragon. I present my credentials, we are strangers no more
Seeing that they have reached an impasse, one of the two invokes a Convocation of Sages, an old tradition of the sages to decide the organization’s future with a vote. Each Jeweled Sage receives one vote, though because the PCs represent the Ruby Sage as a group, each of them receives only a fraction of her vote. Understandably, Amenopheus and Tahonikepsu cast their votes in favor of their own policies. The PCs can vote for either Amenopheus’s or Tahonikepsu’s approach to leading the organization, and in doing so they have essentially voted for the future leader of the Osirion faction. It is possible that the PCs nominate a third candidate or strategy, and the two Jeweled Sages respect this option and include it in the vote.
Talk among yourselves/RP, and say who you are siding with.

Wouah a dragon! I've didn't see that coming !
After gathering his though Daeron says Knowledge is a powerful tool. One you can't be giving away to any one. It must be kept and use only when the time is right. We need a strong leader to take the right decision, organize ourself to know when and to who going this knowledge.
I'm voting for a change
GM Z..D..
Well that is 3 votes for Tahonikepsu.
Amenopheus looks at the pathfinders and then to Tahonikepsu. Very well, I shall follow your lead and we shall show a unified front. We shall start looking for candidates right away.
The diamond sage reverts back to her human for and smiles. Yes, we shall pull from scholars and adventurers to get a good mix of knowledge and skill.

As the last of the party members and sages exits the ruin, Apollyanna who has not moved an inch since Tahonikepsu's big reveal, finally sputters: "D-d-Dragon!"
Bloody Evil Bastard
Using his newly attained mythic power Bloody Evil Bastard completes the final calculations necessary to ascend to demigod status and does so in a spectacular burst of light that can be seen spreading along the horizon from the party's position.
"Brrrah!"
Ages from now, Bloody Evil Bastard is depicted as a camel-headed, toga-wearing humanoid holding an abacus and measuring rod. The toga of course has a pocket protector.
In that distant time, men shall look upon his effigies and the holy tax collectors and inquisitorial auditors of his church and cry out one: "BLOODY EVIL BASTARD!"
And Bloody Evil Bastard will think: Good! Those human buggers deserve it.
