The monastery’s undercrypt is a series of ten-foot-wide rough-hewn passages dug in a double-cross formation. The main thoroughfare runs north to south, with two similar eastwest passages crossing the main hall about fifty feet apart. An eerie silence pervades the cool subterranean funerary network, which must contain the bodies of scores—if not
hundreds—of honored worshipers of Sarenrae in shallow niches carved into the walls of the east-west passages. Many of these skeletal remains have been roughly tossed from their niches, and countless bones and skulls line the floor.

"Lovely decor. Let's do this methodically; I suggest we start on the left and explore in a clockwise-direction."

Male Human Rogue 2

'Okay, but be gentle these are remains of worshippers buried in a temple.'

Male Halfling Cleric of Irori 3

Faysal bows his head reverentially before entering the crypt, hoping the dead rest peacefully.
last in line, as usual :)

Remos walks up to the first intersection and turns left, staying alert for any monstrosities.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

"What a horrible thing to do. Must have been the damn pugs," says Haldo, surveying the desecration. He is still holding the old bastard sword.

Male Human Wizard 2 (Enchanter) Init +2, Per +1/+3, AC 12, TAC 12, FFAC 10, HP 14, Fort +2 / Ref +2 / Will +4

"I wouldn't be so certain. I would think those slime-molds might have kept them out of this area. Be on your guard for something a little worse than our unlucky 'friends'."

perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

a casual look at the remains littering the floor shows signs of the struggle. Some skeletons lie jumbled up against a wall where they fell, their skulls crushed by the blow of a weapon. Many wear the faded orange robes of monastery clerics, often with signs of crippling injuries suffered at the hands of their betrayers.

to Numair

Spoiler:
Buried under a jumble of bones at the end of the main passage is a small teak box emblazoned with the holy symbol of Sarenrae. The box contains a wooden holy symbol of Sarenrae suspended from a silver chain and two average size pearls.

Male Human Rogue 2

'Terrible. I wonder how this happened.'

Perception; Makin continues to move down the various passageways, his eyes peeled for anything of note.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Male Human Wizard 2 (Enchanter) Init +2, Per +1/+3, AC 12, TAC 12, FFAC 10, HP 14, Fort +2 / Ref +2 / Will +4

"Well, look what we have here." Numair pulls the box from under the remains to show to everyone (everyone can look at the spoiler).

Numair says a few arcane syllables and scans the box and contents for magical auras.

Male Human Rogue 2

'Shall I place them in the treasure sack? We can appraise them at a less morbid point in time.'

Male Halfling Cleric of Irori 3

"Agreed, let's not tarry here any longer than needed."

Faysal begins a low chant or prayer and supplication, and begins to gently place the remains back into their niches.

Well, the ones he can reach without something to stand on anyway :)

Male Human Wizard 2 (Enchanter) Init +2, Per +1/+3, AC 12, TAC 12, FFAC 10, HP 14, Fort +2 / Ref +2 / Will +4

Numair continues to check for magical auras, but does intone sarcastically, "So we have no time to quickly check for magic, but we do to replace musty old bones of the ancient dead?"

Numair Alazario wrote:

The pearls have an aura of strong transmutation.

You find nothing other than disturbed bones in this wing of the crypt.

"Trinkets we can worry about later, these people deserve their eternal rest to be as undisturbed as possible, no?"

Male Human Rogue 2

Makin searches the wing across from the party.

Perception
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Remos looks for more trouble in the other wing.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Male Halfling Cleric of Irori 3

Faysal watches Makin and Remos, to see if they get in trouble, but otherwise busies himself with putting the remains back in their niches.

Male Human Wizard 2 (Enchanter) Init +2, Per +1/+3, AC 12, TAC 12, FFAC 10, HP 14, Fort +2 / Ref +2 / Will +4

Numair shows a large grin when the pearls radiate as magical. "Excellant. I will identify these later, and then we can decide what to do with them." He slips the pearls into his pouch, then hands the holy symbol to Faysal, interrupting him a moment. "I am not certain you can use this, but it would seem you are perhaps best disposed to decide what to do it."

This wing is also a mess of old bones, some ripped form the walls of the crypts and some only around 20 years old and not fully decayed.

"Thank you Numair, I will try to treat it with the respect it deserves"

Faysal scans the hall, can he determine which niche the symbol came from?

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Male Human Rogue 2

'Okay, all seems if not well, non-voilent here.'

Makin moves on to the next wing up.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

"This place look empty. No fights here." Remos moves to the next intersection and explores the remaining wing, opposite the one being explored by Makin.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Eyes wide-open, Haldo follows after Makin.

Perception 1d20 ⇒ 20

Faysal Ibn Ahmad Ibn Aziz wrote:

it is on a silver chain so it was most likely hung around someones neck at some point

Remos wrote:

Perception: 1d20+5

A pile of skeletons bearing terrible broken bones lies at the terminus of this passage. An ornate scimitar is still clutched in the bony grip of a skeleton here.

Makin ibn Fahd wrote:

Makin moves on to the next wing up.

1d20+6

A corpse of a man in yellowing leather armor—clearly not a member of the monastic community—liesat the end of this passage. He appears to have died from a blow to the head and is still gripping a tarnished rapier.

Perception 1d20

While scanning the halls for trouble you notice a set of stairs, at the end of the big hall, leading up and seemingly ending into a wall.

Male Halfling Cleric of Irori 3

Faysal hustles down to where Haldo is standing, not realizing how far separated he had become. As he moves, he stuffs the holy symbol in his pack, intending to pass it off at the next temple of Sarenrae he comes across.

Male Human Rogue 2

Makin searches the man's body. Perception1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Male Human Wizard 2 (Enchanter) Init +2, Per +1/+3, AC 12, TAC 12, FFAC 10, HP 14, Fort +2 / Ref +2 / Will +4

Numair supports the others' searches with liberal uses of detect magic throughout each area searched.

"What's this? A stair to nowhere? No, the wall had to have been built later."

I examine the wall. Is it stone / brick, or cut out of the rock?

Numair Alazario wrote:

Spoiler:
the scimitar and rapier both have an aura of light evocation.

the armor is masterwork leather in good condition

Haldo Devaro wrote:

with close inspection the wall appears to be able to be moved.

Male Human Rogue 2

Makin carefully removes the rapier and armor, stowing the armor in his treasure bag and the rapier in his belt.

'Numair could you sense anything about these items?'

Male Human Wizard 2 (Enchanter) Init +2, Per +1/+3, AC 12, TAC 12, FFAC 10, HP 14, Fort +2 / Ref +2 / Will +4

"The rapier and scimitar both radiated magic. They will come in handy, I suspect."

"Heh heh...ooh..." Remos snatches the scimitar from the broken skeleton's grasp. He takes it back to the others. "Find fancy sword. I keep." Remos puts the scimitar in his belt, next to the other.

Male Human Rogue 2

'We'll divide up the treaure later I guess.'

'What did you find Haldo? Anything from the sword?'

"This wall is actually a gate. Someone help me open this thing."

Haldo tries to lift or slide aside the wall.

Strength 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

I'll appreciate any aid attempts.

Aid Another
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Male Halfling Cleric of Irori 3

Faysal ets his shoulder to the door as well

Aid another 1d20 ⇒ 19

Remos rages before pushing against the wall, then immediately calms.

STR: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Excellent.

Halflings FTW!!!

Two tall men, one a raging barbarian, bested in a test of strength by a halfling spellcaster...

ok, why not?

strength check 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Now THAT'S about what I would expect!
