Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Perhaps, instead of leather boots, I should have worn rubber ones."

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Although I'm generally known as a wizard, I have to admit that 'Magical Elf Person' has a certain ring to it."

-INACTIVE-

"It was totally my speech that got everybody into the slime," Kieran says confidently, albeit to no one in particular, as Antheia and Anevia wade in. "I would've done it. What's he got on 'im, ladies?"

Male Gnome Experimental Gunsmith Gunslinger 1: HP:11/12 - AC18,T14,FF15 - Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +2

Bramble watches from the rear as the women wade in, clutching his musket.

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

I examine and search the body floating in the slime...
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

I watch with curiosity while avoiding contact with the slime or anything floating in it.

Orvan joins Brambleburn in letting those more qualified take point on this matter.

"Let me know if you need my help. If it moves, I'll smash it."

Orvan hefts his earthbreaker into a fighting posture.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

Strangways tries to avoid unnecessary movement when in range of Orvan's Earthbreaker.

The body is quickly searched. The man seems to have his face chewed off... with teeth. So no oozes there.

However, you notice he is still wearing a rather nice looking necklace. The pendant is in the shape of a bear.

You notice however, that the man's skin is a strange hue... much more red than normal. He might not be human.

You do however, hear a loud thud from beyond the door.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Well that thudding sound can't be good. I suggest we all stand back while the most well armored person among us opens the door."

Grand Lodge

M Human Warpriest 1 | HP 10, AC 16 (FF 15, T11), CMD 15, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Percept +6

Orvan moves to the door and readies an action to smash anything that passes through it.

Female Human Cleric (Hidden Priest, Separatist) of Magic 1 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 14 (T: 11 / F: 13) - Fort: 1 / Ref: 1 / Will: 5

Antheia takes the necklace off the man, or at least makes the best gosh darned attempt she can. If she succeeds, she pockets the jewelry, and turns to face the thud on the door.

Grand Lodge

M Human Warpriest 1 | HP 10, AC 16 (FF 15, T11), CMD 15, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Percept +6

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

"Good, Antheia will hold on to the necklace, we can investigate that later. For now lets see who this is on the other side. If someone wants to open the door I will step in and take a swing."

Nothing moves through the door. Anyone open it?

-INACTIVE-

Making a poor attempt at whispering, Kieran says: "I humbly suggest we let the hammer-people handle the door!"

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

I sheath my sword, and hand my torch to Antheia. Then I equip and load my light crossbow...

Muttering...Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

I slowly open the door and look past the doorway.

Female Human Cleric (Hidden Priest, Separatist) of Magic 1 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 14 (T: 11 / F: 13) - Fort: 1 / Ref: 1 / Will: 5

Antheia receives the torch, and gives Anevia a quizzed glance before taking a few swings with the torch, as if testing it as a weapon.

She reapplied Guidance as well to anyone whom used it up.

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

Is anyone able to detect evil or detect magic? Cast the detect spells past this door...please?

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Sorry, that's not currently in my repertoire."

Male Gnome Experimental Gunsmith Gunslinger 1: HP:11/12 - AC18,T14,FF15 - Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +2

Bramble smirks at the woman's words.

"If it's bad, we shoots it..."

The door opens and luckily for you that you didn't step through as there is simply no floor.

You find yourself overlooking a metallic chasm much like a wide pipe leading straight up and down.

You cannot see far enough to see either end.

The noise repeats itself as a large dollop of slime falls from above to go soaring down below before hitting... something else.

Amulet pocketed successfully.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

Strangways looks to see if he can see, if not the far side of the "pipe," then the top or bottom of it. Strangways also examines the walls of the pipe for markings, handholds or other features of interest.

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

I put away my crossbow, but retain the bolt in hand. Someone cast light on this bolt...then I'll drop it down and we'll see how deep this pipe is from here to the bottom.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Consider it done."

Strangways casts Light on Anevia's crossbow bolt.

"Of course, regardless of the depth, I would not recommend diving into a pool of slime."

Female Human Cleric (Hidden Priest, Separatist) of Magic 1 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 14 (T: 11 / F: 13) - Fort: 1 / Ref: 1 / Will: 5

"Yes, as the Magical Elf Person said, plunging into a slough of slimy substances and materials is a particularly egregious idea. This slimy substance now encasing my armor in various locations is revolting enough, and we do not need more of it. Be wary of the rest of the slimy substances moving or not. If they begin to do so, we should best prepare for a hasty engagement."

Big words aside, the otherwise Human child (whose height is surely going to be stunted somewhat by the distant Dwarf heritage in her) showed no particular expression that approved or disapproved of anything she said, or anything the party was doing. Rather, she cast a spell and carved an Arcane Mark into the Torch, inscribing but two words in Dwarven Language: My Torch

Underneath it, she inscribed another phrase: Do Not Touch

Then, Antheia equipped the amulet they found.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Anything interesting about that amulet?"

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

I carefully peer over the edge of the tubular structure, point the glowing bolt downward, and then let it drop.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

I'll take a look as well.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

-INACTIVE-

Kieran begins gathering rope from her backpack for the inevitable climb down. "What do you guys see down there?"

The bolt drops and roughly 100 feet down disappears into what seems to be more of the liquid sludge.

You can see the light slowly flickering out as it sinks deeper into the miry muck.

The walls of the pipe seem to be rusty but you notice many cracks and dents, easy enough handholds.

It would be a DC 15 Climb check to progress down. Remember to roll for each time you move down. I doubt someone can make a full 100 ft. down in one shot.

-INACTIVE-

Of all things to not put a rank in...

"Well, looks like we're in for a climb," Kieran says, unfurling her 50 feet of rope. "Anybody got any bright ideas to make this easier?"

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

Is that DC 15 to climb down with or without the rope?

"Perhaps I'm in the habit of being the voice of caution, but is there some reason to think there is anything down there? If there's some sort of passage leading out from the wall of the pipe, I can see the logic of heading for it. But if we're looking at a 100' drop just to end up in a pool of slime, it's hard to see why that would be worthwhile."

Grand Lodge

M Human Warpriest 1 | HP 10, AC 16 (FF 15, T11), CMD 15, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Percept +6

"We could lower someone down and they could scout, then we can pull them back up if there is nothing worthwhile."

"I can be the anchor and do the hauling back up."

-INACTIVE-

"That sounds hilarious! I nominate the little guy." Kieran gestures toward Bramble. "...Or me. I just assume he's lighter, s'all."

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Orvan's plan makes using the lightest person among us but what about the fact that it's a 100' drop while we have only 50' of rope?"

Grand Lodge

M Human Warpriest 1 | HP 10, AC 16 (FF 15, T11), CMD 15, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Percept +6

"I also have 50ft of rope."

DC 15 without rope, there's handholds.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"I meant to say that Orvan's plan made sense, but the lightest person among us would be the obvious candidate for heading down there. If we have two ropes of 50' each, then of course we need to tie them together. Whoever is going down needs to be in very good shape. A 100' climb up a rope to get back is no easy task. Even with hand holds in the walls of the tube, 100' is a very long climb."

Male Gnome Experimental Gunsmith Gunslinger 1: HP:11/12 - AC18,T14,FF15 - Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +2

Bramble looks down, then shrugs.

"Sure, why not?"

He grins.

"Always something new."

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

Here's my rope. Let's tie them together and see what Brambleburn can discover.

Grand Lodge

M Human Warpriest 1 | HP 10, AC 16 (FF 15, T11), CMD 15, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Percept +6

Orvan take out his rope, and ties the two together. He attaches one end to himself and begins belaying Brambleburn down the wall.

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

"Might I also suggest attaching the rope to the door just in case Orvan loses his grip or stands on a slippery patch?"

Grand Lodge

M Human Warpriest 1 | HP 10, AC 16 (FF 15, T11), CMD 15, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Percept +6

"Good idea."

Female Human Cleric (Hidden Priest, Separatist) of Magic 1 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 14 (T: 11 / F: 13) - Fort: 1 / Ref: 1 / Will: 5

Antheia, now wearing the amulet, sees that nothing happens to her, and is marginally disappointed. Nonetheless, she quietly sits and listens to the others decide their rope shenanigans. Hearing that they may want it attached to the door, she replied with feeling...by which I mean there was none.

"I'll take care of it."

Antheia moved then to grab the loose end of the rope on Orvan's side and tie it to the door's handle (or other similar and suitable location if a door handle isn't present) with a double constrictor knot. The most secure knot she learned from moving heavy items during her time spent with the Dwarves, she tightened it just enough to allow her to slip a finger in it, so she could undo it when they finished. The knot would hold as long as the rope did, and surely the rope could support the Small Gunpowder Tube Carrier.

Brambleburn is easily lowered into the sludge.

Something moves within it however and a large ugly looking anglerfish covered in glowing green pustules erupts from the sludge.

It is currently 30 ft. away from Brambleburn.

There is a large grate to the north, behind the giant fish.

Initiative (I always ask for initiative in the first combat of a game., I then compile them and roll them myself every combat)

Anglerfish Ini: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

"Help me pull him up."

Orvan reels up Brambleburn up a few feet if he can.

Female Human Level 1 Rogue: HP11 - AC17,T15, FF13 - Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

-INACTIVE-

Giant slime-dwelling anglerfish? Cool!

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Male Elf Wizard/1; HP 9 (d6+2CON+1Feat); AC11; T11; FF10; Fort+2; Ref+1; Will+4

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Strangways helps pull Bram up.

Female Human Cleric (Hidden Priest, Separatist) of Magic 1 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 14 (T: 11 / F: 13) - Fort: 1 / Ref: 1 / Will: 5

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Antheia notices the others scrambling all of a sudden, but cannot decipher why right off the bat.

"What happened?"
