Cursing at his ineffectiveness in the field, the mage seems genuinely angry at himself. Desperately, he tries the spell again but his emotions seem to be overwhelming him.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Pfilian is stabbed twice more.

The mage again summons up the acid, hoping for better results as he sees his companion bleeding on the ground due to his incompetence.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2
GM Tribute |
Rakal calls upon his divine powers and brings some powerful healing to bear on Pfilian's savaged body. Pfilian's eyes open (1hp) and he finds himself prone with a wooden doll ready to poke him the eye. To his horror, he is not waking from a dream. The doll is real.
Pfilian @ 1hp, no longer helpless, but prone
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Pfilian's eyes open filled with fear.
Get it away from me. Get rid of that horrid thing.

Pfilian fights to keep conscious.
Party to go--gotta finish off Chucky
Sunjeet Azra'eil |
Lending what little comfort he can to the injured halfling the mage seems embarrassed by his incompetence, "I shall have to learn more of fire and other spells if these be the sorts of foes we will face. I apologize, I will try to do better in the future."
To study something is not to truly know it...I am ill prepared for this adventure it would seem. The path to power must be traversed quickly if I am to continue in this manner.
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Philian gets up looking flustered and very put out.
Can you believe that? Look at my shirt. Full of little holes. Even worse, now I have blood stains on it. Do you know how hard it is going to be to get this blood out. They even got some on my hat. MY HAT! Do you know how hard it was to find someone capable of making a perfect blue hat like this.
Suddenly he realizes that the blood is entirely his and begins to sway.
Ooh, I don't feel so good. I'm not made for losing blood like this.
Sunjeet Azra'eil |
"When I am able to study again, I will use my magics to mend and clean your clothes. In the mean time, I would suggest we search this chamber well as such potent guardians would not have been put here idly."
The mage then sets about assist anyone who looks like they know more about searching a room than he does, which is essentially everyone, and manages to do more than just get in the way this time.
Perception aid another: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Realizing that he is not getting help from his companions, Philian uses the last of his healing spells to bind his wounds.
Cast CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Although he is not fully healed, most of his wounds stop further staining his clothes.
GM Tribute |
Going to the room two south of where you found the chest and bypassing the chest.....
Opening the southern door......
A massive mirror stretches across the southern wall of this chamber, flanked by two statues. The statue to the east depicts a tall, gaunt woman in a flowing, hooded gown, holding an hourglass. The figure to the west is that of a jackal-headed man carrying a scepter or staff in his hand. Stone double doors, standing slightly ajar, lead to the east and west. A third set of double doors exits the room to the north (from which you entered). Torch holders sculpted in the shape of bird skulls are built in each corner, and a thin layer of dust covers every surface.
You identify the eastern statue as the goddess Pharasma,
You ID the western statue as Anubis, the ancient Osirian god of burials and tombs
There is evidence of tracks in the dust between the east and west doors.
The tracks are those of animals with the vermin type.
Asaran Neitekh |
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Asaran asks, as they pass it, "Should we not look in the chest first? I have no skill with traps, I admit, but it could contain things that would help us -- perhaps more healing magic, for example."
Stepping into the room, Asaran smiles, "A status of Lord Anubis... Little wonder that I've been drawn to this pla--", he stops suddenly as his gaze passes between the doors, "Tracks... Looks like vermin.... Recent enough that I can see them in the dust. Be wary."
Rakal Second-Born |
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
"And the woman is Pharasma. Kindred spirits they can be."
At the mention of vermin, "I'm going to get this alchemist fire out. Who knows what we will run into, but I'm not getting eaten by thousands of tiny bugs or rats."
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Philian, still annoyed at the holes in his shirt and the blood on his hat is not really paying attention. Looking up briefly he nods.
Yup, Pharasma all right, no clue about the dog face one though.
GM Tribute |
The door is opened to the west after checking it out.
A flight of steps gradually descends to the west down this passage. Halfway down the stairs, small holes and burrowed tunnels riddle what remains of the passage’s southern wall. Earth and sand have spilled over the collapsed masonry, covering the stairs with dirt and rubble. Stone doors engraved with a golden scarab, its wings open beneath a golden sun, stand at either end of the stairs. One of the eastern doors is slightly ajar.
Moving things along. Map is updated--assume your are in the room with mirror and statues having opened the door to the sandy stairs.
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Pfilian looks at the ever increasing pile of old junk.
Unless someone is planning on opening a dusty old junk store, we could probably sell most of this stuff. Then we could hire someone to cast a spell to fix the holes in my clothes and get the stain out of my hat.
Sunjeet Azra'eil |
"Yes, let us explore further for now. I would not want someone to come here in our stead before we were able to maximize our gains. I have never heard of honor amongst tomb raiders."
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Philian shrugs:We have a full day to explore this tomb. Since my clothes are not going to get fixed, we could probably go back to the city and sell some of this stiff to purchase scrolls and potions to mend our wounds or for other purposes.
Rakal Second-Born |
"I'm not heading back until we finish the job here." Rakal starts down the steps with his weapon ready, relying on his dwarven sense to warn him of any stone traps or secret doors when nearing them.
Sunjeet Azra'eil |
Sunjeet follows behind the dwarf, looking carefully at his surroundings for potential scholarly significance.
So different being here than reading about it. The risk is quite exhilarating, though I will have to gain skills if I am not to end up a pin-cushion like Pfilian almost did. The entirety of death and the powers surrounding it must saturate ever grain of sand making up the bricks of this place. Someday I will be able to harness this energy...
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Philian hesitantly heads off behind his companions hoping that someone will see the light, and lead the party back up to light and potions and healing and other good things, like a skilled tailor. With every step he almost jumps expecting more homicidal miniature wooden dolls to attack.
GM Tribute |
Moving into the sandy stairwell, the group begins to find the footing very unstable. As Rakal makes it halfway down the stairs, a large sandy creature raises up to attack.

Sunjeet Azra'eil |
Hoping to disable the creature as it rises up, though unsure what it is - Sunjeet quickly casts a spell at the ground beneath the sandy thing.
Grease - DC15
Pfilian Archibund Merstang IV |
Oh great, something else to try to destroy my clothes. Why did I ever decide to come down here.
Knowledge(everything): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 <-- Bardic Knowledge, yet still completely clueless
Philian begins to dance around like a crazy man, yet oddly enough it looks like the dance is in fact of some intentional design.
