Since it is pretty severe, I am not going to GMNPC anyone. I will update tomorrow afternoon if everyone is up to speed at that point.
Roga Beastfriend
Those would be the fey laughing at our imminent demise. I'd guess there's nothing special going on here, just a harsh roll on a random encounter table.
Where are the other two horses in relation to Roga? Since I'm the only one mounted right now, my main priority is to get everyone else on horseback and either riding into the bandit camp (to provide the Troll with an alternate target for dinner) or riding the hell away.
Arizhel
Nareth and Jutmon are leading two horses (one each). Sergei tied his to a tree 20' from you (Roga). You (Roga) are currently mounted. Those leading horses will have to make Handle Animal checks. You are far enough away that the perception check is almost impossible (-2 raining, -11 110 feet, -1 Wis = -14) DC is only 5. but 5+14=19+ to notice the troll. Similarly, the yell is 140 feet away, (-14 -1 Wis = -15) but the bright side is the, DC is -10, so you have a pretty good chance (25% failure).
Those leading animals will need to make the DC 20 handle animal check for non-combat mounts. Luckilly, although Handle Animal is a trained only skill:
Untrained: If you have no ranks in Handle Animal, you can use a Charisma check to handle and push domestic animals, but you can't teach, rear, or train animals. A druid or ranger with no ranks in Handle Animal can use a Charisma check to handle and push her animal companion, but she can't teach, rear, or train other nondomestic animals.
Jutmon Symber
Actually, Jutmon's horse is way back with Sergei's, and untied, so it can wander where it wills.
Jutmon could possibly escape if the troll doesn't pounce on him first. As a player, I have trouble with this. I think I'd rather loose the character than have him leave the others to be ripped to shreds. It's just not heroic. Plus, Jutmon may not realize that there is no hope at all. Overconfidence in his magic, underestimation of the troll's lethality.

Roga has a good chance to notice at the start of combat (DC -10 opposed to DC 5)

Well, I will advance to Round 3 as soon as everyone is posted. No one is flat footed except Roga, but he is a long way off. The Troll moved out of the woods at a double move, and ended up 5' away from Nareth.
Inuki will inspire if he has not posted by 3:00 ish, just need everyone else.. or at a minimum Sergei since he is the only one acting before the troll.
I think I will break this into 2 Summaries. (Round 3a) Sergei/Trol; Round 3b, Everyone else.)
Akinra

Inuki: Yes, the troll double moved, it is large, and it has 10' reach. It is directly between you and the group.
Inuki : I wanted atleast those before the Troll, you can change your mind if you act after the troll. The Gameplay is up.
Sergei: Yes. It was moving with stealth, but once out of the woods it loses cover. It is Large sized, and in plain sight (A whopping 5 on it's stealth).
Jutmon Symber
I posted up my actions before reading the discussion thread. Jutmon would not just run off leaving Inuki to his fate. I did not realize that the troll was between him and us. If there is any way that that Jutmon could enable Inuki's escape; he would probably do so. Of course, if the troll is only going to eat the horse, then just escaping is the best bet.

Sorry about being gone most of today. Preparing for Thanksgiving (holiday this Thursday if anyone from outside the US). I don't have work tomorrow, but the great feat begins its preparation, so I am not sure on my time. I am willing to bet I will not be available Thursday (Thanksgiving Day).

Happy Thanksgiving. My daily post is done. I won't be checking until tomorrow later afternoon.

*Ahem. I still have the loot here, and now we have a place we can sell/trade it
33 arrows
1 light crossbow
18 bolts
5 suits leather armor
4 short swords
2 daggers
12 days trail rations
2 Horse, Light (not combat trained)
2 animal harnesses
Miscellaneous coin totaling 24 gold, 34 silver, and 88 copper pieces.
Not sure how good we can sell those for, and I believe we lost a horse (probably it's harness as well). Also not sure how many of those rations we've eaten.
Roga Beastfriend
Oooh. Forgot about that stuff. Lets sell everything besides the horses and food and make sure we all have cold weather outfits, and some mapping supplies. I could also use a greatsword from my share.

33 arrows (5cp each) (1gp 6sp 5cp total)
1 light crossbow (35gp)
18 bolts (1sp each) (1gp 8sp total)
5 suits leather armor (10gp each) (50gp total)
4 short swords (10gp each) (40gp total)
2 daggers (2gp each) (4gp total)
12 days trail rations (keeping)
2 Horse, Light (not combat trained) (1 dead, keeping other)
2 animal harnesses (1...eaten? keeping other)
Miscellaneous coin totaling 24 gold, 34 silver, and 88 copper pieces
Total: Gear-432gp 4sp 5cp. Coin-28gp 2sp 8cp
I simplified them all into the largest coin I could, and I also kept coin and gear value separate so our lovely DM can tell us how good a value we can get (these values are the full price ones). Once we have a rate, we can get the final value and divide up evenly.
Hope I didn't assume too much by taking the initiative, but I know book keeping can be a pain. You guys like me doing this?

I have a few things on my wish list as well. A healer's kit with some accompanying surgeons tools (70gp total, gives me +3 on heal checks and basically means I can heal anything short of mortal wounds without magic). Also a spring loaded wrist sheath (5gp, keep a dagger under my wrist that I can get as a move action). Also a few weapon cords, fantastically cheap at 1sp and enormously useful
Also Roga, may I suggest a military saddle? Gives you some passive ride bonuses and also lowers that chance you'll fall if knocked out
Roga Beastfriend
Assuming we sell for half we've got basically 50 GP each to work with.
Military saddle is 20, Greatsword is 50, Cold Weather Outfit is 8 gp.
I guess I could do Greataxe 20, Military Saddle 20, and Cold Weather Outfit 8 for a total of 48.

I had assumed you left the bandit woman at Olegs?
Otherwise she would have to be retconned through the last week to see if/when escaped and if/what she stole when she escaped.
50% sell price on all items at Olegs, which you know is better than you will likely get if you spend the week packing it all back to town.
Jutmon Symber
Yeah we left her at Oleg's. So he may have had to decide what to do with her.
We should keep the X-bow and bolts. Any one of us can use it.
I believe we are keeping the arrows as well. I thought someone took a longbow and traded it for a shortbow. Maybe that was the player that left us, though.
Any way. It seems like the healing kit benefits everyone, so lets get it, even though it is more than Nareth's share.
Jutmon Symber
So 8 gp for clothes, and Jutmon left 5 gp with Oleg before we left. (A deposit for scroll scribing material.)
That leaves him with 25 gp. He has ink and a quill, as well as 3 sheets of parchment. He spends 2 more gp to add 10 sheets of parchment. Should take care of our mapping needs.
Does Oleg charge for money changing, Akinra? I'd rather carry 2 pp and 3 gp than 23 gp. Worried about encumbrance.
Akinra
|
No, Oleg does not charge for money changing. In fact, if you want, he keeps fastidious logs of all incoming and outgoing funds, and would be willing to take all your coin and gear on his credit ledger. You would no longer need to carry coin, if you like. . .

Sorry, working as many hours as possible for the holiday season and my wife and 2 of the 5 kids now have the flu. Busy! I will post ASAP.
Jutmon Symber
Ooooh! We're getting close to 2nd level.
My personal preference for this sort of thing is to do a lot of exploring, rack up a bunch of 'quests' and then do them all in the order that makes the most sense. I'd say finish our explorations with a detour for berries and then head back to the post. What do you guys want to do?
Sounds fine to me.

I am thinking of adding another. Thoughts?
I am looking for thoughts on what gaps you feel you have in the party skill wise (keeping in mind that there appear to be very, very few traps in the Kingmaker AP volumes 1-3, nor in 4-6 though I admit I only skimmed the last books) and personality wise.
