you guys are going to have to end up using the map now that its here. There are two roaches within reach of the pit bull (d2) with different gang up bonuses; one has one ally for +1, one has 3 allies for +3. I don't know where you're getting +5 from. If you're wild attacking or any other special abilities that has to be specifically stated,as it also comes with penalties.

Bennies 2 Wounds 0 Parry 6 Toughness 8

I edited the map to show R3 as dead. I also stepped Aeryicka up to r4 so she could get a hit in. If Aeryicka attacks r4 she gets maximum gang up since that radroach is pretty much surrounded. Moving and attacking doesn't suffer multiaction penalties does it?? If it does, it still doesn't matter since I think she still hits because of the gangup. Also, @Aeryicka if I read correctly, you don't penalize yourself on an Ace roll. The penalties are only for the original roll.

Moving is a free action in savage worlds. You can do it any time without penalty as long as you're not incapacitated...even if you're shaken. running, however, counts as an action and can lead to multiaction penalties. (I designed some edges to deal with that though based off the run and gun perk, see the custom content I added in the campaign info page). The only thing I can think of you can't do while moving is aim

Sorry, got the dogs confused. I thought D1 was the pitbull. Is there any way to differentiate the two dogs on the map since they're controlled by two different people?

Just made a note on the map that d1 is the greyhound (Harper controls) and d2 the pitbull (Aeryicka controlled) to remind all of us, myself included (I think I goofed too once).

The radroaches, being surrounded and mindless, continue on, despite being picked off slowly.

R2 vs D2 (gangup from R5): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
ACE: 1d4 ⇒ 3 = Total 8 vs Parry 5
damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
ace: 1d4 ⇒ 2 = Damage 8 vs Toughness 4 = Raise = Incapacitation (unless Aeryicka, who has the edge that lets her spend bennies on a pet, wants to try and soak for the dog)
One roach leaps up, wings flying and bites roughly at the pitt bull!

R3 tries to Unshake: 1d4 ⇒ 1
The roach that is totally surrounded seems to be twitching.

R5 vs Thomas, gang up from R2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Ace is popular today with the roaches: 1d4 ⇒ 1 = total 6 vs Parry 4
damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
ace: 1d4 ⇒ 2 = total 9 vs Toughness 5 = Shaken AND 1 wound (unless Thomas soaks)
Thomas, too gets one that manages to jump up and bite at his torso.

R6 vs Badger, gangup from R5: 1d4 ⇒ 2 miss

Thomas and Harper up! (Possible soak rolls from Thomas and if Aeryicka wants to use her bennies on the dog, the pitt bull)

Harper brought a punch down onto the fifth roach, doing anything that she could to protect Badger from more harm.

Fighting: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Wild Fighting: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

The dog who was fueled by her fighting spirit took a lunge at the beetle surrounded on all sides.

Fighting: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Fighting Ace: 1d6 ⇒ 6
What: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Add four to the total for ganging up, correct? I think that the penalty negates that, however. The parry is three, if I'm correct, and I have 17 on the dice. Three raises. I'm going to roll three more 1d6s unless I'm confused, in which case don't include them in the damage.

Damage: 4d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 1) + (4) = 19

Seriously concerned that I totally screwed this up.

You got it mostly right. Sadly, you can only ever get at most one extra d6 damage from raises on the attack roll (look at my new edges...in custom content, there's a high level edge that eliminates that maximum). You also missed light penalties, but that still would have hit at -1. Still would have been 12 damage...and the d4 would have aced and kept rolling, an instakill on a radroach.

Harper's kick doesn't seem to faze the roaches, but then the greyhound.

The dog, however, just chomps into the beetle, shakes it violently, flings it up in the air, and bites the head off, gulping it down. (Hey, food is food)

Thomas and then new initiatives On phone - can someone delete dead radroach?

Yup

The pitbull seems unfazed by what would have otherwise been a mighty attack by the lowly roach.

Just waiting on Thomas. I'll give him a few hours. If I'm moving too fast, let me know. I'm just trying to keep with you people's average flow.

Thomas suddenly realizes that for some reason he's now in the thick of it. Thinking quickly, he panics and goes for self-preservation, attempting to defend himself until the opportune moment. After all, as they say, 'Du Muss Amboss oder Hamer sein'. And today is kind of an anvil day.

Defend option. +2 Parry.

Spirit roll! 1d6 ⇒ 51d6 ⇒ 4

Badger ain't going down like this- sure, these wild radroaches are far more dangerous than the ones in Engineering but didn't the G.O.A.T say that pest control was all he was good for?! A life-threatening wound isn't about to stop Badger from becoming the expert wasteland ranger he always knew he would be! So he calms himself down and swings wildly with his knife at the radroach in front of him!

Wild attack vs. r5, with gang up bonus from Thomas (does Harper count on the diagonal? +1 more if so): 1d8 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 21d6 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2
I may have done that wrong, I haven't had my coffee yet. I have a -2 for size, -1 for darkness, -3 for wounds = -6. Then I have a +2 fighting for wild attack, +2 for joker and either a +1 or +2 for gang up; so that first attack is either a 4 or 5 if my revised math is correct.

Damage if that somehow manages to hit: 1d6 + 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (3) + 2 = 9

My parry is at 4 until next action. I will use my free move to fall back- is each square 1 unit? I will move myself back 1 to get a little further from r6.

Harper counts as a diagonal. If I'm adding that up right you got a total 5 and hit.

Badger splatters roach 5 as an action of desperation, but provokes an attack from roach 6 as he backs up, leaving himself open.

R6 vs Badger: 1d4 ⇒ 1
But the roach is, in the end, a big clumsy bug.

Two bugs left. Estelle, then bugs, then the rest

Estelle misses the roach, which turns around and wild attacks her!

wild attack: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Apparently it's do or die, because the other roach does the same to Thomas.

Wild attack: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
...barely shaking him.

All others are up, and the roaches have parry 1 until their next turn. Map updated. Also, apparently you can edit the map with the Google docs app on your phone, too, so that's awesome!

Defend action. Parry = 6. It's sharp, biting mandibles thrust mightily at my vitals, only to meet my trusty bar of rusty metal, and the ring of chitin-on-steel CLANGS throughout the war-strewn bathroom, as, somewhere, the sound of MANOWAR is heard to accompany the ensuing melee. Have at thee! =) (Happy Friday everyone!)

Thomas deftly turns his STEEL against the gnashing, pulsing mass of radroach. Sensing that the tide of BATTLE has turned, he meets the roaches wild ferocity with a surge of his own RAGE. He brings back his ragged bar and opens his mouth to cry with barbaric ferocity a mighty "............." and brings his weapon down on the insect's hardened carapace!

Fighting, Wild Attack, gang up: 1d4 - 2 - 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 - 1 + 3 + 2 = 4
Wild Fighting, Wild Attack: 1d6 - 2 - 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 - 1 + 3 + 2 = 4
damage: 1d4 + 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (5) + 1 + 2 = 10

Oh, yeah, forgot about you defending. Nice!

The bug dies with a satisfying crunch, and for the moment Thomas is wielding a Radroach kabob as the pole pierces it fully. The little legs kick...and then stop.

Map edited for Badger's lowered pace (diagonal is no penalty so he's 3 away) One roach left.

Bennies 2 Wounds 0 Parry 6 Toughness 8

Kristophe charges at the last Radroach (r6) a giant grin on his face!

This one's MINE!

Wild Attack!: 1d8 - 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) - 3 + 1 + 2 = 1 Wild Die: 1d6 - 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) - 3 + 1 + 2 = 4
Damage!: 1d8 + 1d4 ⇒ (2) + (1) = 3

But his attack fails to squish the bug, instead it just clangs off its carapace.

Wild attack actually gets +2 damage also, so its Shaken.

I'm gonna move on, because one roach with parry 1 that is already shaken won't last.

As you guys finish off the radroaches which each give one 'radroach meat' item if you're so inclined the dogs whimper a little. Estelle can tell from a cursory examination that there's some glass in their feet, but nothing deep. Healing check at -1 to remove without tools, +1 if you get tools; until then they halve their pace and cannot run. The dogs bark, well...not happily, because there is glass in their feet, but at least in a non-aggressive manner. They start to scarf down one of the dead radroaches, because they're dogs, and meat is meat.

A quick search through the restroom can find that the toilets are filled with debris, and the mirrors are shattered, but one of the sinks still turns on...The water flowing out giggles brown for a while, but eventually clears out, and you can see a thin trickle of clear water.

If you drink:
Roll vigor with a +1 bonus. It's lightly irradiated. Failure gives you a Rad, which is like a wound or fatigue, but a separate track. It does meet your daily needs for water, however.

Back out into the west hallway there is a second restroom for boys, a kitchen, and a staircase going up, but the rest of the way is blocked with collapsed debris. There is also the east hallway.

Thomas stands proudly, his radroach-staff thrust before him. Then he coughs a bit, then coughs some more. Then he coughs a hacking monologue, but nothing he can do can restore his voice. Tired, hot, and desperate, he opens the tap and takes a long, cool drink until he can hold no more.

He tingles a bit and shakes his head vigorously, but otherwise feels refreshed.

Then he marches over to Harper. He digs into her backpack, pulls put the baton, and thrusts it into her hands, reminding her that she need not fight bare-handed.

He then points to Estelle, and points to Aeryicka, indicating that Estelle could give the baton in her backpack to the other child.

If Harper lets him, he'll pile the rest of the 7 remaining roaches into her backpack so they might roast and eat them later, after the place has been secured a bit first.
While they gather the radroaches, Thomas will make a cursery inspection of the area. He doubts he'll find anything other than cracked masonry and dust, but seeing as how they lack so much as another bag to hold dead roaches in, he figures he might try.

Notice: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Wild Notice: 1d6 ⇒ 1

That done, Thomas gesticulates toward the kitchen, indicating that that might be the next preferred area of inspection.

Thomas shakes his head at the departing Kristophe, indicating disapproval, and that now is not the time for recklessness.

I don't have my computer today, and normally I would sketch it up after work, but I've got a Christmas party today. Now that I know we have these options, I can put the maps up when I have my computer around, but while I can type letters and delete them on the app, it won't let me add lines and stuff (or I haven't figured out how yet). It's not the most straightforward map, due to blocked hallways, sadly. The individual rooms are, though, so you can draw those up if we get in a fight, and I should be able to update the full school map tomorrow. Sorry :-/

Kristophe starts off down the east hallway, not waiting for anyone else. That hallway gets pretty dark...almost pitch black, but with the light of the entrance he can barely make out that the teachers lounge and the office are close, and then it becomes too dark to see. More of those alcoves to saints with sconces and candles line the walls.

Thomas heads to the cafeteria to check it out. Florescent lights are flickering on and off, giving visuals, but inconsistently. Overturned tables litter the area, and the stench of rotten food comes from behind the counter where the kitchen is, and you can see an open fridge, picked completely clean. A large dry pantry remains closed shut, and seems locked up. If you had lockpicks, or at least some bobby pins, maybe you could get it open.

Thomas sighs as he see the padlock. This place deserved a thorough inspection and some time to get through that lock, but they didn't have time now.
He mentally files away this place for later and meets Aeyicka helping out Badger. He supposes that they could try it if they had no other option, (like, trying his rebar out on the lock, or the hinges) but for now they should see if there are any low-hanging fruits.

Thomas indicates that there are no medical supplies that way, and they might wanna try the other direction, but leaves the decision up to Aeryicka.

All Aeryicka hears at the door is the hum of electric equipment, and Thomas opens the door to see the office in general shambles. Like the previous rooms, debris is all over the place. There's a large, center secretarial desk with a computer terminal that seems to still be active. A small alcove leads to a nurse's office that's seen better days. He motions to Aeryicka to go to work.

The stuff should be put in a pack, so he waits for Harper or Estella to see if they want to carry it.

With that said, can Thomas find ANY empty bags? Trash bags, grocery bags, even a nice handbag. Anything at all that could carry one or two bottles full of only mildly irradiated water would do quite well right now. I mean, not -right- now, but if they leave and never find another backpack, those would come in handy.

Harper let out a tentative chuckle at Aryicka's comment, and bent down to scratch her companion's floppy ears, trying to block out the dreadful imagery of the remains of society around her. When she more closely examined the dog's face, however, she noticed that the canine had definetly been in more than a single scrape before she had met it. It's jaw closed improperly as if a large animal had swatted it sideways, leaving several teeth on the upper left side of its mouth hanging out for the world to see. Its fur was matted. There were multiple spots on the dog's body that had no fur to speak of at all, the skin warped with scar tissue.

Harper ran her hand down the dog's back to its tail. "You need a name," she mused aloud. "I'll keep thinking on that. We'll also need to teach you to be a civilized doggie, like the ones that they have on the picture shows. Teach you how to sit and come and heel and such." She inwardly cringed at the thought of picture shows, a reminder of the vault. Vault Two, where Percy and Mother and Father and- No. Couldn't start crying now. She looked into her companion's eyes and gave her another quick pat on the head before standing up and looking down the hall. She'd spent too long petting the dog, and was now alone. Don't panic. Thomas was in the building, somewhere. She just had to find him.

Well, you take the hurt person's wound penalties (which is why healing yourself is so hard - you take double) but even with -3 it's 8, which is a raise, so yeah, Badger heals 2 Wounds).

Dark Archive

As Aeryicka goes about the serious business of healing Badger and Kris goes about the business of being Kris, Thomas scoops all ten pill bottles into his new found trash bag and crams the whole thing into his over-sized pockets. 'Well, it's not exactly luxury, but it's a start. I just hope these things are waterproof.'

That done, he starts wondering where Harper is. He exits the door and notices her just down the hall. It looks like she's opening the door to the other bathroom....

Gonna wait on her post. It could go a couple ways, depending on if she sneaks away, or runs in with a barbaric yop. =)

Harper slowly backed out of the room, keeping her arm extended toward her canine companion to keep the dog from entering. As soon as Harper was once again fully in the hallway, she grabbed the door's handle and slammed it shut with a loud bang!

She looked to her left to see Thomas staring at her several yards away.

"Thomas! Ack, you scared me!" She sighed. "I'm going to highly recommend that we avoid that bathroom, or at least make a plan before heading in there. I saw at least five more radroaches when I peeked in." She then let out a gag. "...And I think that someone else died trying to get at whatever was in the bathroom. The roaches were feasting on a- a..." She shuttered and attempted to complete her report. "They were devouring a rotting human corpse."
