Just to post this here because at least one of you are all in my other games, I have a job interview on Friday afternoon that I will be dedicating the bulk of my "free" time tomorrow and Friday morning to.
Apparently there are no internal candidates and only four other applicants, so I by-God actually have a chance at landing this one provided I knock their socks off - not that having an internal employee who's part of the team provide me a referral hurt, either!
Go get that job, but leave their socks alone!

Yeah, that job didn't work out. On the other hand, I had another interview earlier today that seemed to go very well - which is why I wasn't updating last night. My wife and I will soon be going to the doctor's office for her 8-week pregnancy check-up!! So, today is a good day. :)

Congratulations all around! Florida is quite nice--I have so far avoided the business trips to Virginia in the cold.
Virginia is cold??? It was about 5 degrees here in southern New Hampshire this morning, and I think we were probably the warmest place in the state.
It's over 40 degrees here in Wisconsin today and its looking like the highs may be at or above freezing for at least a week out! Time to break out the shorts!
Actually is supposed to be warmer here for the next week, at least above freezing during the day most days, over 40 tomorrow is the rumor the weather people are spreading.

When time permits, we are here. I started a Mummy Game to give us something to do in the mean time.
Yeah, I know about your Mummy game - I'd posted to express interest, but that's right when "things" started happening and I couldn't even get a character together (let alone, y'know, play the games I'm already in).
Okay, so here's the "stich": between work, family, and school the last month+, I haven't had the energy to do much of anything that required any amount of brainpower: I've been able to play Diablo 3 for maybe an hour a night in this time precisely because it's mindless monster mashing (Rulgha's a biotch and has better-geared characters than me; expect his character to die soon in oh-so-sweet revenge). Every single night for the last two weeks especially, "I need to get Reaping Stone updated" just hasn't happened whether due to exhaustion, laziness, higher priorities, undiagnosed SAD, or whatever.
But!
- After four years of looking, I finally have a new job. I haven't started yet, but I've received and agreed to the formal offer that was extended and am currently serving out my final two weeks.
- The semester is almost over. I have one paper to write, and two final exams - the first of which is my first day at the new job. I have two weeks before the summer semester begins, in which I am taking one class.
- My wife is 15 weeks pregnant. On May 20, we are having the ultrasound to see if it's a boy or girl. We actually planned this one (my son was a happy but earlier-than-expected surprise), and are doubly-excited about this because she had a miscarriage late last fall. The C-section is tentatively scheduled for October 7 because my genes result in wide baby shoulders and it's just easier for all of us that way.
- Because of the above, I am not taking a fall semester class. That's right, I have no classes from the second week of August until the first week of February next year. I needed a break anyways, as my lack of energy to do even fun stuff is a lot worse for non-fun stuff and if I'd tried to take a class in the fall a) my wife would stab me b) I'd almost surely be a complete and burned-out wreck by Thanksgiving, which is perfect timing for going into final projects/exams.
So,
A great many things are turning around for me, and 2014 is going to a fantastic year. Ambrik House, as part of this game, will resume soon. And by soon, I mean "this week", because I owe it to you guys to sack up and make it happen.
Oh, great, if you start this one again, then I am really going to have to get the ToEE going again.
Congrats on the new job and the pregnancy. I need a job, other than sort of working for myself, and with two boys, 7 and 9, really do not need any more little people running around.

I am changing jobs after three months. Looks like I move to Northern Florida and leave the Space Coast. Off to what my brother calls the Redneck Riviera.
Good advice from a former boss of mine about how to get ahead in government civil service. It may apply to other jobs.
Rule 1 = Wear a tie to work--it makes a positive impression.
Rule 2 = Attend every work related social function and bring your wife. It shows you aren't the typical nerdy engineer.
I need to get into government civil service first.
It may apply to a law firm too :-)

OK, here's the update:
- New job is great, I'm learning a lot and beginning to help make a difference. Plus, it's amazing working for a company with real adults and leaders (not just "managers").
- It's a boy! A younger brother for my son who can't wait for the baby to come out so they can play together .
- I got my first 4.0 semester ever! 'A' in Business Law and Corporate Finance. I also have already begun the summer semester with Investments (securities research and portfolio management).
Congrats on everything. Sounds like fun. I remember business school, it was fun. Hope you get some good sleep, which with two small people can be tough at times.

Nice! Hang in there and enjoy the nice weather finally! (Even up there it is getting nice now!)
My family is finishing up school in Melbourne. I am trying to rent a house on the bay here in Ft Walton Beach so I can jump in the water after work or sea kayak to the bar with a dock just down the street. We will see if it works out.
