I plumb fergot about the +3 to all attacks, not that it would have helped me with that very Lame-@$$ old-man escape roll! Manny obviously couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag! ;P


I'll allow Grafire's turn to influence Akahale's as he goes before the warlock. I'll roll for Seram later.

Yes, Grafire should do max damage and then additional damage from his magic axe. Grafire you should be doing 2d8 extra on a crit, not 1d8.

As I think on it, IT should also get an OA, I believe. The basic melee attack was not an OA. I'll go ahead and roll it, and wait for adjudication. If IT hits, it stops the thing's move.

The Wrath has jumped 4 squares west into the sea with Manny. You will have to swim out there, should you wish to rescue him.

With horrible purpose and legs with coiled muscles, the servant of Dagon leaps away from the heroes, with the prize of the old wizard in its claws. The creature has not dived beneath the surface yet, but you know that it will, the better to drown your elderly friend.

Ok I'm at a lose of what I can do here with prawn-boy bring out to sea. And without any of my 4e pdfs I really am at a loss. So what kinda movement or check am I looking at to get to him and hit him with pressing strike?

"Oh for the mercy of Bahamut." Grumbles Grafire as he finds him self running into the water after the mage. With out even thinking about it Grafire attempts to stay on the heals of the Wrath.

I take it the water is difficult terane? so hopefully a double move would get me with in reach. At which time I would use a action point.

Vipers Strike
1d20 + 13 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 3 = 25 +1 if target is bloodied.
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Here are the rules for swimming:

SWIM
Make an Athletics check to swim or to tread water. Different conditions make swimming harder. See the Endurance skill for information on swimming or treading water for an hour or more.

Swim or Tread Water: Part of a move action.
DC: See the table.

Success: You swim at one-half your speed, or you stay afloat and tread water.

Fail by 4 or Less: Stay where you are and lose the rest of your move action. You can try again as part of a move action.

Fail by 5 or More: Sink 1 square and risk suffocation by drowning (details are in Chapter 9 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide).

Uses Movement: Count the number of squares you swim as part of your move.

Swim Speed: While swimming, creatures that have a swim speed (such as sahuagin) use that speed and do not make Athletics checks to swim.

Seram splashes into the water and toward the Wrath

Coming up on the giant prawn the barbarian tries to slice it's claw free of the mage

Pressing Strike 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33; Damage 2d4 + 13 ⇒ (3, 3) + 13 = 19 and push the Wrath 1 square back, CRIT!!! Damage 21+2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6=28

"Outta the way mage, unless you wanna die!" Seram screams as he cleaves into the prawn again

As the sea is rough, you sink 1 square on your first move. As a second move, you swim up to the surface and a bit further along and you still end up in melee with the Wrath!

Grafire plunges into the sea and comes up gasping for air, as he pushes his bulk through the rough seas to attack the demonic creature. Unfortunately his exertions take the bite out of his axe swing, and he misses.

As the creature wrestles with Manny, sinister energy strikes it, emanating from the other dragonborn.

Please make another Athletics check, Seram.

So did that use a action point?


Yes, swimming is a move action as outlined above, and success means you move up to half your speed. So, you needed two move actions to get to the Wrath, especially as on your first one, you sank! :D
