Round 5
Current Initiative
Raseri, Varian, Sevante, Caladrel, Mable, Sprites, Mabs
@ Sevante:Your attack comes into contact with flesh as you strike the sprite you spotted in the tree.
8 hitpoints, Pym
@ Caladrel: The other sprite you currently hexed is out of reach. The one within reach won't have the -2 to AC. If you want you can have the -2 AC instead of the attack, but for now I will list it as the -2 to attack.
The sprite resists part of your hex.
-2 attack for 2 rounds
@ Mable:You see Sevante fighting one of the sprites.
Sprites: Both sprites attack Sevante, one with a sword, the other with a bow....
Attack Roll Sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack Roll Bow: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 4 = 10
And both attacks miss him.
Mabs: Raseri can feel Mabs shift on her shoulder,"It seems there are actually only two opponents. The others are fakes."
Round 6: Raseris turn (1 more round stunned and blind, then one round stunned thereafter), then Varian is awake (4 more rounds Blinded and stunned), and then Sevante (will post his action tomorrow unless he gets to it).
Sevante |
Last one for a bit...
Sevante takes a second to aim his weapon before he literally growls out in Sylvan, "আপনি এই অবিরত করতে চান আপনি ইতিবাচক হয়? আপনি এক খারাপভাবে আহত , এক ব্যক্তি নিচে আছে এবং আমরা আপনার হালকা চাকরি সম্পর্কে জানি. আপনি এখন আত্মসমর্পণ যদি আমরা ক্ষমা করব."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Dangit, no fast rules, and penalties, for diplomacy. Well, that won't work...
He then waits, defensively, for their response.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Crit?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
crit damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
"Surrender would have made a much better story, and kept yours going. .."
Raseri Whitescale |
"Tricksy bastards," Raseri says with a hint of humor coloring her voice.
Still blind, she doesn't do anything.
Grandma Mable |
Long Spear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Crit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage Crit: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
"That will be quite enough of that!"
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
Round 6
Standard: Hex (evil eye) Sprite. -2 AC
DC:15 Will. Fail=7 rounds. Success=1 round
Move: Cackle. +1 round to Evil Eye
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well met, Mable! Let's finish this little nuisance."
Caladrel raises a hand and points a finger at the Sprite. As he chants in a strange language, his eyes intensify with a red glow, then fade back to blue.
"மர்ம, சக்திவாய்ந்த ஒன்று ... என் எதிரி பலவீனப்படுத்தவும் சாதகமாக வழங்க"
Caladrel chuckles in satisfaction feeling his patron has granted his request, and the hex.
Sprite = -2 AC, -2 attack
"How much more of this do you think you can take firefly?"
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Round 6
Current Initiative
Raseri, Varian, Sevante, Caladrel, Mable, Sprites, Mabs
@ Raseri: Your vision fades back slowly, but your body seems it is not yet ready to get back into the fight.
@ Varian: You wake with a start. Your head is killing you and you can't see whats going one or seem to be able to move around much.
@ Sevante: You Ready an attack for whats to come, but it seems your words fall on deaf ears as they continue to fight you.
@ Caladrel: Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
You see through the branches of the tree the sprite is visibly shaken by your attempt to hex it, however it steals itself and shakes off most of it.
-2 AC, -2 Attack for 2 rounds.
@ Mable: You triumphantly stab the sprite through! It dies cursing you on the end of your spear. Another orb of light disappears as you slay it.
Sprites: The last Sprite curses and fires upon Mable...
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
and misses with its attack. It proceeds to fly into the trees and attempts to hide among them.
The Sprite flew to the north.
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 20 - 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 - 20 = 4
Really sucky stealth checks huh?
Mabs: Mabs lifts off in an attempt to follow it, "I'll keep an eye on it. Come and help me end this when your ready hun."
Round 7: Raseri's turn (1 more round stunned), then Varian's (3 more rounds Blinded and stunned), and then Sevante's turn.
Raseri Whitescale |
Raseri shakes her head and checks for her sword. The one that's nearly as long as she is.
"Damn fairies," she mutters as her vision swims and her head throbs.
Sevante |
The big half-elf sighs as his suggestions are almost completely ignored. He'd warned them three times now and even extended an olive branch, by any good story what happened now was their own fault, sadly. Not positive he could reach the sprite without it popping some horrible spell on him, Sevante cautiously approaches the final, and therefore most deadly, one.
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
Round 7
Standard: Draw sling
Move: Cackle. +1 round to evil eye hexes
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You still have a chance to live past today. Yield, and I MAY forgive your insult on this witch."
Caladrel lets out a single humble chuckle, maintaining his patron's hold on the sprite.
Sprite = -2 AC, -2 Attack
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
Cackle (Su): A witch can cackle madly as a move action. Any creature that is within 30 feet that is under the effects of an agony hex, charm hex, evil eye hex, fortune hex, or misfortune hex caused by the witch has the duration of that hex extended by 1 round.
according to the map, it is exactly 30' away.
Varian Seldlon |
If some random joe came across our witch, he would most likely swear that nothing good could cackle like that that many times and assuredly would attack him. hue hue.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |

according to the map, it is exactly 30' away.
I understand that Cackle is within 30', but are you talking about "Dead" Sprite Pym? That's the only sprite that is exactly 30' away. The other one that flew behind a tree to the north is 50'.
If not, I am concerned what your computer is showing you... I know you might be getting kinda aggravated by my constant clarifications... but I'm just trying to understand your actions so I don't misconstrue what you are doing.
Trust me... I hate it when I can't get my meaning across... :(
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
ok. got it. sorry. use my standard action as a 2nd move to get close enough for the cackle. I already moved Caladrel on the map.
Grandma Mable |
Grandma realizing Selvante is injured calls on her gods blessing to heal him.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Then she looks carefully at the others making sure no one else is hurt
Please let me know if someone else is hurt and I will heal you.

Cure Light Wounds

Actually, I think Varian is the one still hurt. Senvante isn't injured yet surprisingly. You Want to move to and heal Varian instead or do something else?
Round 7
Current Initiative
Raseri, Varian, Sevante, Caladrel, Mable, Sprites, Mabs
Sprite: The Sprite fires upon Caladrel...
Ranged Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage Roll: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Caladrel Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
And hits him in the arm.
Caladrel is dealt 1 point of non-lethal damage and saves against the numbing effects of the arrow.
The sprite then proceed to try and hide again.
Stealth Check: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Mabs: Perception Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
"He's Right here young'uns!"
Mabs Flies over to the sprite and tries to claw him up...
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
And just misses him.
Round 8: Raseri is no longer affected by the sprites magic (no longer stunned). Varian has 2 more rounds stunned and blind and 1 more round stunned there after.
Raseri Whitescale |
Raseri shakes her head and snarls at the little orb of light that Mabs was attacking.
[b]"Make a fool of me, will you,"[b] she growls as she goes bounding across the snow and drawing the long bladed sword from the strap holding it on her back.
Double move and hope the thing doesn't color spray me in the face again.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Alright, I think I gave Him enough time.
Round 8
Current Initiative
Raseri, Varian, Sevante, Caladrel, Mable, Sprites, Mabs
Sevante (Bot): Goes over to the sprite to distract him, helping Mables's next attack.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Mable gains a +3 bonus to her next attack roll against the sprite. Caladrel's turn.
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
Please excuse the simplicity of my post, I didn't have an opportunity to give it the usual attention.
Round 8
Standard: Evil Eye (-2 AC)
DC:15 Will
Move: Cackle
+1 round to hexes
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Well... I guess this post was my bad... Sorry, I've been having to deal with the end of this semester, getting ready for finals and what not.
Caladrel: You chant your hex in plea to your patron, asking that your foes defense might be weakened...
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
and the will of your foe gives in to your hex and the will of your patron.
Sprite gets -2 AC for 8 rounds, Mable's turn.
Grandma Mable |
"Lets end this little one"
Long Spear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Round 8
Current Initiative
Raseri, Varian, Sevante, Caladrel, Mable, Sprites, Mabs
@ Mable: Your attack misses the sprite despite Sevante's distraction and Caladrel's Hex.
Sprite: The Sprite goes into a defensive stance and tries to fly higher up the tree, seemingly getting ready to flee.
Uses a Total Defense Action, +4 to AC, and the equivalent of a 5 ft step straight up.
Hover Check: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (14) + 21 = 35
Mabs: Tries to fly straight up after the Sprite and attacks it...
Hover Check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
3 hp Vosi
Slashing ribbons of blood in its side.
Round 9: Raseri is up (still within range for attacks) and Varian has 1 more round blind and stunned and 1 more round stunned thereafter.
Raseri Whitescale |
Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
With a roar of fury, Raseri brings the large blade down in a two-handed chop that crosses the sprite's path, and barely misses Mabs by a feather.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Before the Sprite can escape, Raseri cleaves it in two with a swing of her sword. In fact, her swing was so forceful that it shears the top of the tree, barely missing her fellow adventurers as it falls to the ground.
Alright! Another encounter done and over with. You may search the sprites at your leisure if you wish and talk in game before the next encounter. Just tell me when you guys are ready to continue. Oh, and Varian is no longer affected by the spell placed upon him and may move and see as normal.
The next encounter is the last time we use this particular battle map and continue onward to some of the AP battle maps (with maybe a few customs if need be).
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
"Well. That was exciting. I hope you 2 are done sleeping on the job!" Caladrel chuckles. "I kid of course. Is everyone alright? Shall we see if these little menaces carry anything of value on them?"
Grandma Mable |
"Does anyone need some healing or a cookie. Grandma says with a smile.
Raseri Whitescale |
"Fine," Raseri growls as she flicks the blood off her sword, "I'm fine."
She returns the greatsword to the thick leather loop on her back and goes to retrieve the longsword she had dropped when she fell to the sprite's spell. That done, she moves ahead a little ways, scouting for any more surprises, and trying to pick the trail back up.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Survival (Tracking, seeing if she can pick the trail back up.): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Raseri: You can just barely make out the trail underneath the snow, but you don't expect to for long. The snowfall is becoming heavier by the minute. You also see the footprints of what appears to be an elk or a deer of some sort seemingly following the trail.
Caladrel: When you search each sprite's corpse you find that each one has a diminutive sized short sword, shortbow, and a few arrows. Curiously enough, each sprite was also carrying around 14 gp each (full sized).
One sprite also had a very small note among his belongings in common:"Patrol the outer ring of the Border Wood. If you find anyone, take care of them. If you aren't able to do so, fall back and meet at the cabin, but beware of your punishment should you get me involved for no reason! Report back tonight so that I might tell..." The rest of the note is torn off.
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
how many sprites were there all together?
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
Having collected up and inventoried items of value that the sprites had, Caladrel points out the note...
"It would appear this attack was more than just a chance encounter. These little demons were ordered to patrol the area and attack anyone intruding. This note indicates a cabin where the sprites were to meet the orchestrator of these instructions." Caladrel strokes his chin between the thumb and index finger on one hand, "This may be something we should look into, of course the rescue of the princess would take presidence, I would think." Turning to Mabs, "Would you happen to know what cabin this note refers to? And how much further would you say it is before we run across the princess and her captors?"
Raseri Whitescale |
Raseri, fearing that she'll lose the trail, continues on as long as she is able to follow it.
Let me know if I need to roll again.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Mabs flutters over to Caladrel and perches on his shoulder, "Actually young'un, I believe the cabin might refer to our destination... though the note might be referring to a different cabin... there are a few of them spread out here in the Border Wood but I don't know the locations of them except for the one we're trying to get to."
@ Raseri: You can see a narrow game trail winding its way through the trees and undergrowth. However, before you get too far following the trail a stag comes out of the trees and walks over too you, "Ho traveler! What might you and your friends be doin walkin in my part of the forest?"
Raseri: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Caladrel: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Mable: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Varian: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Sevante: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Mabs: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The Stag seems friendly enough and its not too far-fetched that there might be magical beasts in the Border Wood.
Everyone can see the Stag and Raseri and are close enough that the conversation is clear enough.
Raseri Whitescale |
"Um," Raseri stands, dumbfounded for a second. Fey-touched creatures and magical beasts were not unheard of in the north, but every tale she'd been told about them cautioned the listener to ware their tricks and pranks. All of this didn't even take into account the strange crow that had decided to "help."
"I am looking for someone," she says carefully, silently cursing as her ulfen accent becomes more pronounced, "It appears they are on the trail ahead, please, let me pass. I promise I wish you no ill will."
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
"But who are you looking for? It's not everyday that travelers come through my territory. Been hearing strange things within the Wood lately."
Mabs flies over and alights on Raseri's shoulder. She cocks her head, looking confused. She says nothing about the current situation or as to why she's on Raseri's shoulder.
The stag starts to look slightly nervous, stamping the ground but says nothing about Mabs.
Raseri Whitescale |
Be wary, Ras. Be very wary.
The young woman manages to not flinch when Mabs lights on her shoulder, acting as if it was perfectly natural.
"A young woman of Taldane blood," Raseri says, trying to keep her voice polite, though it still carries a slight edge, "I heard she was accosted by bandits and have come to help her find sanctuary. Their trail leads this way."
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
"So you say. I haven't seen anyone by in the past week. Is there anything I could help with?"
Raseri: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Mabs: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Mabs is starting to look very interested in the stag, staring at it without blinking and softly tapping her claws on Raseri's shoulder.
Something tells me the dice roller is a jerk...
Raseri Whitescale |
Sense Motive (What's the stag doing?): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"Certainly, let me continue on my way and keep my passage and that of the others a secret. I can even give you a gift once I've learned what gift is proper for an stag of such magnificence," she says with a grin.
The old crow seems to be nervous about something. Don't stags usually avoid people? Something's not right.
Raseri casually rests a hand on the head of the axe at her belt. The crow wouldn't be too happy if she started moving a lot, but that was the price for using her as a perch.
"While it has been a pleasure, I'm afraid that we are in a hurry, so if you would be so kind as to let us through, I'd be most grateful," the young warrior adds with a small bow, a broad smile still beaming from her face.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
Mabs seems to come to a decision. She launches herself off Raseri's shoulder and quickly flies over to the stag.
Percentile: 1d100 ⇒ 19
Grapple Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
She lands on the stags head and snatches at the air over its head, catching something unseen.
"Kill the Stag before it can leave! A fey was spying on us from invisibility."
Surprise round if you act immediately.
Mable Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Varian Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Caladrel Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Sevante Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Mabs Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Fey Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Stag Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Round 1
Current Initiative
Sevante, Mable, Mabs, Caladrel, Fey, Varian, Stag, Raseri.
Raseri Whitescale |
Raseri looks on for only a moment.
In that moment she decides to trust the crow.
Almost before Mabs had finished speaking, Raseri draws her axe as she puts all her strength into her legs. Snow flies from her feet as she raises the weapon above her head and gives voice her war cry.
"Vetur heift fæddur!"
Attack (Charge, power attack): 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 3 = 16
The axe head buries deep into the thing's skull, crushing bone and flesh with equal abandon.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |
The Stag's skull is cut in twain and it dies before it hits the ground.
Man... You don't deal only "a little damage" do you?
You hear a yelp of surprise come from Mab's clutched claws as the beast topples over, but Mabs holds on to whatever she is grappling with.
Initiative still stands as whatever Mabs found is still struggling to get free and isn't letting up.
Raseri Whitescale |
Barbarians, for when you need that thing dead RIGHT THE EFF NOW! :D
Now just imagine if I'd gone for the greatsword instead. :3 Oh, and she has yet to rage, either.
On a less munchkiny note, Ras's AC is down 2 points across the board. AC 13/9/12 for the curious.
Caladrel Wintergrasp |
"Wow Mabs, you're handy to have around."
Caladrel utters a few words and focuses his attention on the area Mabs is struggling.
Caladrel cast Detect Magic
"Scio, Didici, Pecto."
If she can hold it for 3 rounds, Detect Magic will provide location of magic aura.
