This is The Dragon's Demand Pbp Campaign. Currently, recruitment is CLOSED. I believe I have enough players on tap for this. Will keep people posted.

Elf Wizard

Bam! First in and interested :D

Btw, this is Tessai.

So.... What is everyone planning on playing?

I've got my mind set on:

- Barb Tank
- Pala Archer or Tank
- Oracle Support (Life most likely)
- Bard Support [though I am already playing one :D]
- Wow, that is not a narrow list...

I am in and interested. I will fill the void the party needs, so can play the healer if no one else wants to, etc.

Grand Lodge

I will give this one more day before I start looking outside for more people.

This will be a 15 point build. (Yes, we're going outside the normal a little bit, here). The group will be 4 to 5 players. more notes to come soon.

Still trying to decide what to play. Definitely not a healer.

Elf Wizard

I have no issues in going healer - I've actually been wanting to do it for some time now to be honest :D

Grand Lodge

You all may want to lock down exactly what role you want to play. I'm going to be tweaking the houserules a bit, and then I'll do an open call to find us 1-2 more players, I think. Alternatively, I could just run you three and run an NPC of your choice (of class). Thoughts are welcome.

Elf Wizard

Ok then, I am going to play an Oracle of Life :D.

As far as you running an NPC, I think it adds to much complexity to the already hard work of PbP GMing - I say recruit away ;)

I'm contemplating playing an alchemist

Grand Lodge

I'm still working on the houserules, but a new one you all will want to know about while coming up with character ideas...There aren't finalized just yet, but pretty close.

Class Restrictions/Changes

Summoners are not available for play in my campaigns.

Gunslingers and alchemist bombs resolve against flat foot AC, not touch AC (Limitations such as first range increment rules for Gunslingers still apply. Sneak attack only added if attack would normally be eligible for sneak attack damage without this rule).

Feats are available to reduce gunslinger misfire (See Feat section)

Witch hexes are subject to spell resistance. Feats which improve a spell caster’s checks vs. spell resistances also apply to hexes. Cackle may only be used for a number of rounds equal to constitution before a one minute rest is needed.

Casters who can conjure are limited to 2 creatures at one time on the field.

Grand Lodge

I am considering softening up the alchemist restriction a bit more...so don't panic on that just yet, Mesut.

That is okay. I'm thinking more along the lines of ranger now anyway.

Grand Lodge

I'm leaning towards this...

Since Bombs are infused with magic, Spell resistance may reduce their effectiveness. Alchemists must make a SR check where applicable. However, since bombs are also part chemical, they do so at a +5 bonus to their check.

Wait, wait - So... this means we can now play conjuring based characters? With limitations of course :D

Grand Lodge

Sure...though I should put a limitation about it being an option in small campaigns. In campaigns with 6-7 players, it can be a bit...unruly.

Hello fellow players! I would be the fourth of this merry band and would like to know if anyone objects to me playing an Oread monk?

I see we have and Oracle for healing and an alchemist for ranged, so I figured some melee was in order. Or if you think a rogue for utility would be better let me know.

Elf Wizard

No objections on the Oread monk :D

Grand Lodge

Everyone is all set on their classes? If so, why don't you talk about who you are and your background...

Ok, so far an Oread Monk, Oracle of Life, Alchemist or Ranger?
If you are going for the Ranger Mesut, I will play an arcane caster. If you are going for the Alchemist, i will go Ranger. Just let me know either way.

A Gnome Sylvan Sorcerer sounds good to me if Mesut is going Ranger...

I will play a Holy Tactician Paladin if Mesut stays Alchemist, =)

Grand Lodge

And I'm going to play a Dragon. Hmmm...everyone is picking archtypes nowadays. I guess I'll go with the Demanding archtype. Yeah. That seems to be all the rage these days.

i stuck it out with the alchemist.

If you want to play a sorcerer though, go ahead. An alchemist is not a good replacement for a spellcaster.

Grand Lodge

All righty...so the time table to get this going is...

By the time Labor Day weekend gets here, I need character choices for everyone. It doesn't matter HOW you send me that info, as I will put it all into herolabs anyway. By this weekend, I'll have it uploaded into dropbox.

If you've never done dropbox with me before, make sure you email me your dropbox account nickname/email info, so I can add you to the shared folder I set up.

With any luck, we'll be up and running right after Labor Day.

Elf Wizard

I am planning also on sticking it out with my Dual Cursed Oracle of Life -> I am inexperienced with support/healer characters, so I want to give it a try.

Is that ok with everyone?

In any case, I always have a couple of character ideas rolling around in my head, so if we are missing any particular role, I have no issues in changing chars.

Grand Lodge

Anyone else?

I am going with Warrior of the Holy Light Paladin. May we all walk in the light of Iomadae!

Grand Lodge

All right...make sure I have your character details by Saturday night, please. I'll be sending out dropbox invites soon. Thanks!

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

I give you Telegar, my Dual Cursed Oracle of Life ;)

Grand Lodge

I've only got three characters in my system, and the deadline for getting me character info was yesterday. If I don't have your character on the PDF, please email me your info ASAP. Thanks, and enjoy the weekend!

Grand Lodge

The players are pretty much set up in HeroLabs. Do you all have a preference for how you come together to become a team? The module doesn't really cover that directly.'

I have come to town following my love that I met in Oppara, after her extended stay in the city; she is from (insert starting town) and has returned from Oppara about a month back. I was hired on as a caravan guard that's route was passing through her home town. Newly arrived (like one day when the campaign starts), I am looking for work and staying at the inn until I can afford my own place.

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

For sake of expediency I would suggest we already know each other - thing is, when the "get-together" is role played, sometimes it looks too forced in the first place...

Grand Lodge

Agreed. That's my concern. Any ideas what might be the background story for how y'all got together?

Sure! We all met on the road, working the caravan as guards and/or passengers. The caravan's final destination is (the campaign start town), so we all have been payed (part of our starting cash) and are now searching for work. Since we are new in town, we are all probably staying in the same inn.

You could even run like a short interlude ambush by goblins or something as we are guarding the caravan before we arrive in the starting town, =)

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

The perfect start if I ever heard one :D

Grand Lodge

Ok...so in your backstories, you want to write iin why you are part of a caravan ...guard, guest, whatever :) We'll be kicking this off tomorrow, then ...though I am concerned we have not heard from two players today.

Grand Lodge

The monk has dropped out. Apparently got a new job that makes posting impossible.

Are you going to open recruitment again to replace?

Grand Lodge

To be honest, I'm kinda up to my eyeballs at the moment, and recruiting a new person is a lot of work. Working with people who've already played in my other Pbp's and home games is much easier . The monk was the one 'new' person in a manner of speaking, and I ended up wasting hours between the communications to get him up to speed and getting his character in HL.

I've got a lot of things for my job and PFS that I have to knock out on strict time tables clear through the first week or two of November. To be honest, I'd rather put this on the back burner until then if it means going through the hassle of finding and getting other players up to speed here.

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

What is out roster so far, and what are the recommendations for Dragon's Demand?

Grand Lodge

Whatever is on the PDF, minus the monk :)

(Sorry, I can't look myself atm)

Typically, the recommendation is a 4 PC balanced party.

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

Ok, I looked at the setup and it really doesn't look bad to me. Only thing is, without the monk we are only three...

I would REALLY like it if we could add two more - my bet would be some sort of ranged character - ranger would be good I believe - and also an Arcane caster, which I always seem to be chasing in all of our games GM-JC :D

Perhaps we can scour our other threads to look for someone to play - as I said before, I am on vacations (fortunately now on a place with decent wifi) and so I am only posting sparsely, but I could drop a line with people I know are frequent posters or something like that?

Grand Lodge

Iff you want to handle recruiting, that's fine. You know my PBPs well enough to explain to others...and you can forward copies of my houserules to help explain those rules to anyone else. I'm just too tight on time myself.

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

As I said, I may be able to do that once I return from vacations. No guarantees though.

I still think that moving forward on a group with only three people is too risky, and will throw us into unnecessary hardship :/

Grand Lodge

Indeed. I can GM an NPC for the group as well. I'd rather that be a live player and an NPC....but I just don't have the time to headhunt blindly right now.

I'll probe my other players, including my PFS peeps as time allows and gauge interest.

Human Female Human Oracle (Dual-Cursed Oracle) 1 [AC:17/11/16 | HP:11/11 | Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +2]

Haven't heard from the rest of the team - would everyone agree we could use a ranged support + an arcane able?

Didn't we lose our tank character?

I am a Paladin, I can tank, I agree with the ranged and arcane caster.
