What was the result for my knowledge (local) check

Bloodrager 4 / Adept Godling 4 | HP 50/50 | AC 20 (T 16, FF 14) | CMD 26 | F +10 | R +10 | W +10 | Init +2 | Per +12 {Raging: HP 56/56 | AC 20 (T 16, FF 12) | CMD 30 | F +12 | R +12 | W +14| Init +0 | Per +12}

Personally, I've never seen Knowledge: Local being used like that, so I'm curious to see what the GM says...

I've never either, but it makes sense kind of, I mean knowledge (local) is used to find the weaknesses of humanoids, well finding out their classes is kind of like finding out their weaknesses (If you are smart that it)

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Personally to me their is no way of finding out someone's class or classes. That's OOC knowledge as far as I am concerned. You can guess and with physical details make a good guess. But their is no way of telling a fighter from a rogue for example. Fighters have no defining abilities that flag them, nether do rogues sense SA is really just a well placed strike. Let's not even go into archetypes. Everything is guesswork based on their actions or tactics. Spellcasters are easier to id but the class/type of spellcaster takes more work and would require observation of their abilities to narrow down the list. A fair amount of ranks in both spellcraft and knowledge arcana would be needed as well.

After all we are taking advantage of that ourselves from the get go. Hiding our armor, weapons, and abilities by means of misdirection and magical items. Everything works both ways, something to keep in mind. If you can roll knowledge local and know someone's class, then they can know yours. ;)

P.S. This is a gesalt game, class defining is blurred even more then normal.

There's a feat that let's you ID someone's bloodline, hexes, mystery, arcane school and/or domains, and there's a third level spell that can tell you what level of spell they are able to cast
Beyond that I don't know of any way for your characters to know someone's class or level, other than by observing their class features in action.
Ok, he has a wolf that fights beside him, he's probably a ranger, but could be a Druid, oracle, cleric or rogue,

Oh his sword is on fire now but wasn't before, he's probably a magus, but could be a bard, arcanist, Paladin or warpriest,

Unarmed and unarmed but punches really hard, probably a monk, but could be a paladin or or warpriest

Hmm now that I think about it, the only abilities that are both unique to one class and ovserveable would be the monk's flurry of blows and argueably the slow fall.

You guys have the way of it. A class isn't something that really exists, Paladins are an order, clerics serve gods, wizard and sorcerer is a title. Fighters, rogues, rangers, are all too versatile to really "tell" Like a pirate could be any number of classes, and all that is apparent is whether or not they're a pirate.

What is this +13 will save Froth!?

Bloodrager 4 / Adept Godling 4 | HP 50/50 | AC 20 (T 16, FF 14) | CMD 26 | F +10 | R +10 | W +10 | Init +2 | Per +12 {Raging: HP 56/56 | AC 20 (T 16, FF 12) | CMD 30 | F +12 | R +12 | W +14| Init +0 | Per +12}

Hey has a Godling ability that allows him to use his Strength modifier in place of the typical stat for all his saves (including Reflex and Fortutude). How that is supposed to work in-game beats me, but mechanically it's pretty awesome for a strength based character like Froth. In fact, all of his saves increase when he is raging due to the increase in Strength. Add that to Good will saves from his class, and a +2 on will saves while raging, and there you go: +13.

Dark Archive

Male. Human (Spark) Machinesmith 4/ alchemist 4

An explination for why each stat could be used for all saves (in order of how much the explination makes sense)
Charisma: the force of your soul is such that nothing can harm you
Wisdom: by reaching such a zen state an becoming one with the universe you become a cosmological constant
Constitution: you're just that damn tough
Strength: uh, you're stronger than any magic that wants to effect you, you punch traps instead of dodging then and you flex away the poisons?
Dexterity; you can dodge literally anything?
Int: ok I got nothing.

Here's the official explanation:

Godling wrote:

Shadow Lodge

That statement made me want to throw my phone hard enough for it to hit you wherever you are
Mostly because the whole "10% of the brain" thing is Bull Shit.
We as humans use 100% of our brains, pretty much all the time, constantly.
It's a leftover misconception from when it was first discovered that we, as humans, could often live fairly normal lives even after pieces of the brain were removed.
Later studies prove the conclusion they reached to be hogwash.

Especially considering that Strength is also my Casting stat...

What!?! You mean Lucy was not 100% scientifically accurate?

Pretty easy to see why tales like that one won't die when Hollywood won't stop perpetuating them. Kind of like how every Psychologist in TV and movies is always a Freudian, we in reality pretty much nobody follows Freud anymore. (What made him special was pretty much just that he was willing to consider that more than just the obvious processes were going on, and come up with hypotheses to explain behaviours. The fact that he was wrong about pretty much all of them is incidental; his mistakes paved the way for later folks to find more accurate explanations. So in that respect, he just kind of tipped us off to the right path...)

In Rileng's defence, I think even non-psych people are aware to some degree that the 10% thing is a myth.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Woah first off, never seen lucy. Secondly we don't know everything about the human brain and personally I think we never will. People are different in their thought process, I think everyone can agree on that much. Maybe on paper everyone uses 100% of their brain, don't know never looked that stuff up. But life experience says otherwise, known people on both sides. I would not say they use all their brain power for some and I would say others do. Having the ability and using it are two different things. Otherwise the world would not be such a messed up place.

Anyways to keep things short. It's a fantasy world with magic, nothing really needs a reason, it's all just whimsical nuttiness. Enjoy it, that is the only reason I'm here. ;D

Don't you dare disparage Lucy! That was all accurate!

I think the force of int thing would be more like bradley cooper at the end of Limitless.

I've not watched/read/experienced that bit of fiction myself, so that means very little to me.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Not waiting on me I can tell you that. ;)

Its been 11 days since the GM has posted...

Got the wind taken out of me a bit for this campaign, I just got a bit discouraged that a bunch of people dropped. Thankfully I like all of your characters. And you seem able to work together.

And holy crap Froth, calm the F down :)

It looks like Alexi likes Krog's Grog so much, he decided to stay there :)

Oh! Lol. I thought you were saying my post in this forum was over the top. Ya, I took the No Dachi for the crit range even though a greatsword would do more raw damage. Can't wait till I can get a Keen upgrade, or a way to cast it. Add in some Cleave action and he'll be cutting through them like a scythe through wheat!
