"Damn it, Spin was going to tell me something he had some weird look on his face when he went back to the gym." Asch says to Amada as they head to lunch. "I guess I'll figure it out later." He says with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Ephebe it really is okay...I don't have any idea at all what it must be like to go through Imprinting and everything that comes along with it, but any experience that...binds you to another being has gotta be, well, it's gotta be draining and amazing and...and like you say miserable and happy and all kinds of things all at once. Pretty wrenching." She gives the dragon a concerned look. "It's so soon, you've got a while to figure things out, and so does he. Just because some magical, biological part of you has made up its mind doesn't mean you two can't still go on dates and court each other and have fun with it, right? There's so much you two can learn about each other, and in those times where you just don't feel like dealing with it, well, we've got class, and bathroom attack oozes, and now giant jellos and crazy Hunters and...and...and so much other stuff!"
Nasima backs up and looks at her friend, giving her a wry smile. "I guess, really, all you can do is take this slowly, don't try to process it all at once. And really, I think it'll go okay; at least Spin is a really nice guy and not some evil freakazoid. Plus he's a shapeshifter so size will never be a problem."
Her eyes go wide as she realizes what she just said. She claps her hand over her mouth and does her sunset-blushing-thing again. "OHMIGAWD I AM SO SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN IT THAT WAAYY!" She's clearly mortified, but is also giggling madly at her own slip in spite of herself. "Ahahahahaaaa, oh SERIOUSLY I did not mean that. I just meant, if you shift back into your dragon form, he can be a dragon too, etc...."
Ephebe looked confused at Nasima's freakout, not catching on until well into the explanation of why the other girl was giggling and then she couldn't help herself. She started giggling too.
"'Sima, I can't believe you said that!" She had to stop talking until she could get the giggled under control
"...but it would be nice to go flying with him...heck, I'd just like to go flying. I don't get to very often, and it's calming when I'm feeling confused and upset..."
"Do you think that...well, I'd never really considered dating as a possibility...I mean, I think that could work, only....do you think he'd actually want to...well, want to go out with me?"
"Of course! Are you kidding?! Like I said, take it slow, see what develops. You guys got all kinds of time. Your heart is tender enough right now, you owe it to yourself to be cautious. Let the speed dictate itself."
She smiles, still flush from her laughing attack. "But yeah. Totally can see it."

Asch suddenly let's out a violent sneeze. "I hope I'm not getting a cold."
Ephebe impulsively hugged her friend.
"Thanks, 'Sima. I don't know how I ever managed without you. I went from feeling like the world was ending to thinking that maybe everything was going to be okay. You're awesome."
She stepped back and her stomach growled loudly.
"I think maybe it's time for lunch," she said, grinning.
"Hey, there," she said in a calm, soothing voice. "I'm Mrs. Sunwake. I'm the physical education teacher here. It's nice to meet you, Alan."
"I'm sure you've noticed that Mama Nala is not quite feeling herself just now. You really gave her a bit of a shock, introducing yourself the way you did. How about you and I step into the hall and give Nala a chance to get cleaned up and have a few moments of peace to recover from such a big surprise, okay? And while we're waiting you and I can talk about what sort of things you're interested in. That will help us know what classes to put you in since you want to enroll here."
The quiescent jello follows Mrs. Sunwake obediently.

"And from now on you're going to have to have lunch in the cafeteria like everyone else. It's not nice to steal other people's spell components. Not that you knew that's what you were doing then, so nobody's mad at you. Krays just wanted you to know that those things weren't okay to eat so you wouldn't do it again."
Nala straightened her shoulders as she looked in the mirror. That was better. She did feel much more like herself now that she was clean and dressed. Now, she thought, let's see what I can do to salvage this situation.
She stepped out into the hallway, a honey-sweet smile on her face.
"Ah, there you are, Alan. I apologize for my reaction earlier. I was...quite startled. Perhaps we can start over?" she asked, just a shade too cheerfully.
It took everything she had to bite back a response. How could she possibly explain to this poor, innocent ooze thing that his 'mama' was evil to the core and he shouldn't trust a word she said?

As the two girls walk to the cafeteria, Nasima asks "So...this 'Alan', I mean, should we...that is, we can't trust Nala to raise him, or..." she makes air quotes "'raise' him, can we? She'll be the worst for any kind of nascent intelligence!"
"And I'm okay now. How about you, EJ? How are you doing? You must feel so confused. I bet being alive was as big a surprise to you as it was to me, huh?"

After finishing his classwork in detention, Fei leaves the Administration offices and makes his way to the cafeteria. The fact that he was unable to get any kind of breakfast this morning weighs heavily (or lightly, depending on one's point of view) on his stomach as he walks down the halls.
The events in the locker rooms earlier are making the rounds in student conversation.
As the two girls walk to the cafeteria, Nasima asks "So...this 'Alan', I mean, should we...that is, we can't trust Nala to raise him, or..." she makes air quotes "'raise' him, can we? She'll be the worst for any kind of nascent intelligence!"
"Yeah, but I don't think there's a lot we can do about it as long as he thinks Nala is his mama. Don't worry, 'Sima. I'm sure that Mom and Uncle Ryo will think of something, some way to mitigate her influence on him. She's not fooling them any with her 'super nice' act."
Nala walked through the corridor on her way to the cafeteria for lunch when she spotted the boy, what was his name again...Dizzy? No, no, that wasn't right...Spin. That was it. And all alone too. What luck.
"Hi there," she said, sweetly. "It's Spin, right? I'm glad I ran into you. We never got to finish our conversation yesterday. And I just wanted to thank you. It was so sweet of you to offer to let EJ join your band." She smiled at him.
Krays gets cleaned up and heads back to the room to get H'Tor, then heads down to the cafeteria. As he passes Spin ans Nala in the hallway, he says "Hi, Spin", then looks at Nala
"I understand you are the mother of the slime? Congratulations! I'm sure you're very proud...you know what they say, we pass on the best of ourselves to our children..." He gets an evil grin, then continues "Since your son ate some of my reagents, I expect recompensation. You will make sure this happens?"
He glares at Nala

Flops down on a chair in the teacher's lounge. She'd wait until after the students ate to get lunch. She needed a few minutes of peace now after a morning of dealing with adolescents. And of keeping her instincts to squish that irritating little witch in check.
Fei slows down on his final approach to the cafeteria, seeing the kobold and the ooze's 'parent' from the locker room incident trading odd glances, with two others on their periphery.
He found it a bit odd that nobody else from that event had gone to detention...but they would most likely all be going after school, he supposed. (^.^)

Nala nervously takes a step back away from Krays, clearly shaken by the creepy kobold's implied threats.

"Nice to meet you. I am Krays. Your actions in the locker room were impressive."
Hi there," she said, sweetly. "It's Spin, right? I'm glad I ran into you. We never got to finish our conversation yesterday. And I just wanted to thank you. It was so sweet of you to offer to let EJ join your band." She smiled at him.
Spin stops in his tracks, looking at the girl. Her power passes right through his mind... not like the usual defenses of someone used to her power, but like someone to whom her power means nothing.
A suspicious look crosses his face, "You're welcome. But don't try your mind voodoo on me.. not a good way to make friends." It's obvious that he can't put his finger on why he doesn't trust her. "
"Hmph." Nala stomped off trying to retrieve a little of her dignity on the way. Walking past Ephebe and Nasima near the door of the cafeteria she glares at the other girls.
"I think your uniform is starting to look a little tight, Sunwake," she said, tartly before sailing off to join her followers at their usual table.
Chuckles at Spin's reaction and looks proud of his room mate, then watches as Nala stomps off, and snickers. He looks back to Fei
"Did she even thank you for rescuing her? Unbelieveable."
"I. Hate. Her. So. Much." Ephebe says through gritted teeth, glaring at Nala.
Nala stewed, rage filling her like ice as she sat and pretended to be perfectly fine. Nothing was going according to her plans. It was all spinning out of control. She had to get rid of that Ephebe brat. She would have to talk to her ally about speeding up their plans. Time was no longer on their side at all.

Waves back and smiles at Krays. Blushes when she sees Spin, but also waves and smiles.
Spin laughs at Krays "I think you scared her off, Dragon-Man!" When Krays smiles back, Spin feigns fear, "Don't turn your crazy on me!"
He smiles as he enters the cafeteria, his eyes lingering on Nasima and Ephebe. And as the new kid comes in after him he thinks, And here I was the new kid yesterday… weird.
"Hey," he says to Fei, "my name's Spin." He spins himself into a mirror of the Fei, giving his best impression of the boy's culture with a deep bow, hands pressed together in front of him. Even the voice is Fei's, "Welcome," Then with a smile he takes it too far, flying off into ridiculous karate kicks and chops into the air, "Your fighting in the bathrooms was awesome!"
"Hey, Spin, Krays. You guys going to lunch?" Asch says when he and Amada see them.
Spin stops and looks at Asche mid-karate chop, "Yes, Asch-Son, you and your lady friend should be joining us."
Nala's comments notwithstanding, Ephebe can't resist attacking her lunch. Especially since it was lasagna today, her favorite.

When Spin changes his shape to imitate Fei, he is able to do so - but he notices something. He is actually not able to mimic him like he usually does. He feels like he has it for a fraction of a second, then loses it. It's close, but not quite there...
To everyone else, Spin looks like he is purposefully trying to make a caricature of Fei, rather than perfectly copy him like he usually does with everyone else.
