The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Ace concentrates, and forms the collective, first inviting Ehos, then Jaiye to join. ::"First time I've ever done anything like this before, so if I screw up, you know why":: Ace mentally informs his friends.

Lyn, quick reminder: Was Jaiye at the Girls Night party when Vai went crazy? I can't remember

Tybalt was over at a corner of the table intentionally to allow them space.
"Nothing important. Just a philosophical debate," he says with a smile.
After a moment and a couple bites.
"So, do you uh, maybe want to try to see if you have magic? If you are what I think you are, I might be able to walk you through seeing if you can do some simple things. No phasing through floors, something easy?"
He doesn't use utensils when he eats.

No, she wasn't. If she was, they would have had less trouble subduing Vai. ;)

"Well, I know I don't have an ounce of fire magic. But I never really tried to learn any other kind. I didn't really have a lot of access to information and teachers. I don't really know how I did the floor thing. If you have some idea of how it happened or how I could get control of it, I'd be grateful," she said cheerfully, happy at the idea that she might actually have a talent and maybe even a way to learn to use it.

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

"OK then. First this."
He takes off an amulet and slides it across the table. It looks like a pizza on a gold chain with each slice a different color and a symbol for each school of magic.
"Put that on and you should just kind of know what to do. Here. Uh." He looks around the table.
"Levitate thiiiiiis, here, this." He flicks his wrist and a jack of hearts playing card appears in it. He sets it on the table and slides it mid ways.
"Now as you do it, see if you can really get a handle of how it feels to move it."

Image

Asha picked up the amulet. She looked at it curiously and put it on.

"So...what am I supposed to do again?"

What does the amulet actually do?

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

It's his main item. It just has, like a ton of cantrips. He wants her to use Mage Hand to see what it feels like and then see if she can replicate it without the amulet.
"OK. Look at the card. Now imagine it floating. The amulet let's you use really simple magic, so if you envision it hard enough the amulet does it for you. Then once you get how it feels to float something with the amulet, we'll see if you can do it without it."

Male Half-Elf

"Do your best then." He leaps off of the roof and takes off. "Race you!"

Image

Asha nodded and focused as hard as she could. The expression on her face was rather comical, a bit like a small child focusing on learning a new skill. She was obviously taking it very seriously. She laughed and clapped her hands in delight when the card started to float.

"It worked!"

As the quartet finishes getting dinner, Ace asks ::"This weekend was pretty terrible for me. How was it for you two?":: He kinda already knew in part, but he was hoping talking would help all of them.

Aloud he let's Ginni know what he's asking them silently "Feel free to share as well love. Maybe talking with our friends can help make it not so bad"

assuming here that Mel was cleared to be released from the infirmary. and I believe Igni will be offline for a bit, based on a previous post

After a bit, Mel gathers all of her papers. giving Igni a light kiss on the cheek Thanks for everything.

Mel heads out of the infirmary to her room. leaving the cartoon-ish drawing she made on the floor by the waste bin in the room.

Stopping a bit she checks the wall to see if Vai is anywhere about.

I know she is not here but Mel does not know this

identifying Vai nowhere to be found, she checks to see if Kai is anywhere nearby.

again not sure on Kai's location but assuming the arrows cannot find him either.

Not finding him either she lets out a sigh and heads to her room.

shutting and locking the door.

Ginni looked at her plate. She wasn't ready to talk about the weekend. She was still in denial about parts of it. She knew that. It hadn't sunk in yet that Rodhas and Joneh were never going to turn up wanting to talk about their enthusiastic plans for airborne hockey. She hadn't even checked on Morrivan. Which probably made her a bad friend. It was just...it was one thing to see Morrivan crying last night, but she felt like if she saw her grieving now then everything would become all too real all too quick. She didn't really feel all that hungry anymore.

He uses detect magic to see if there is any reading from her and the item.

The amulet looks like normal ie what he would expect to see from it but Asha looked all weird when he looks at her. Kind of see-through. No visible magical auras at all.

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

"Hunh. Maybe you're psionic? I don't see anything magic on you. Now, uh. Try taking it off and floating the card again."
He looks perplexed slightly.

She shrugged. "Okay."

She took off the amulet and handed it back to him. She focused her attention on the playing card again, her face screwed up in intense concentration. She leaned forward a little....and went through the table abruptly falling to the floor and going slightly through it before scrambling backwards and resolidifying.

"I...feel kind of woozy," she said, looking a little glazed as she sat underneath the table.

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

Any magic while that happened? Sustaining the detect.
Tybalt looks under the table.
"OK. Sorry. Don't strain yourself. Now we know that it is you. Are you OK to get up or do you need a second?"

Rena pokes her head under the table after having observed Asha's use of the amulet and then attempting to use her own abilities. "Maybe you should stop for now, and eat something. Magic can be very exhausting, like Tybalt has said. Do you need help back up to the table? I can support you with my tail." and the snake creature did indeed offer her tail to Asha for support.

Up until Asha had once again gone immaterial, Rena had appeared to be at least somewhat thoughtful, continuing to pick delicately at what Tybalt had chosen for her as if taking care not to make a mess of her muzzle.

Not wanting to exclude Ginni in the same manner that he might have been excluded without the psionic connection, Ehos has set the pad down on the table in a place where it would be convenient for her to read, and when speaking telepathically, includes the datapad so that it still is displaying for Ginni's sake.

::Well, it has gotten better since we were attacked in the library. That was definitely the worst part of the weekend.:: he says, while gently squeezing Jaiye's hand. ::Jaiye's brother showed up this morning though, and took issue with us being in the same bed. But I think Kara has had her hands on a few other people at the school, but the sounds of things. The... uh... girl over there...:: Ehos will point out Rena, who is some distance away in the corner of the cafeteria. ::Her, for one. When we met her... she triggered... some things in me.::

It sort of is and sort of isn't. It's not magic or psionics as he would expect. But it does seem to be distantly related.

"Umm...I think I need a sec...oh, thanks, Rena," she said, struggling up with help from Rena's tail.

Once she's up she practically inhales the food on her plate. And then looks at the empty dishes quizzically.

"I...am still hungry," she said, confused. "That was more than I've ever eaten in a whole day before. But...I really need more food. Am I allowed to just get more to eat?"

"Really? That's...worrying. So the people that she influences are also linked together through that? Oh, dear. I didn't know it worked like that..." she looked both thoughtful and disturbed at the implications.

Female Elf Gestalt Sorcerer (Starsoul) 16/Oracle (Heavens) 16

Tyrrin was watching the infected mass for an assault on them. She wasn't worried about their attacks though - with no spell casters among the infected to dispel her spells.

"Before we try that David... what about the young woman that the Headmaster spoke of? The source of the infection? She might be whom is controlling the hive mind."

She fishes her pen out of her pocket and keyed in Aananda's frequency. "Professor Sunwake, I need a status update on the quaratined woman immediately.::

"... I'm pretty sure you can get more."
He almost inhales a baked potato as he feels the small pang of rendering the card and magic vision.

Aananda stopped and sighed. She hadn't even made it back to her lab yet. At this rate she'd never get it rebuilt.

She hit a button on her headband. "One moment, I'm pulling up visuals now."

She had her wristband project a holoscreen and checked on the quarantined girl.

"Tyrrin, it looks like she's still in stasis. All readings look fairly normal considering....please tell me this doesn't mean that infection got loose in town."

"As far as I know it's completely permanent, but I haven't really had that long to test it. I have noticed recently that those affected by my abilities...that I'm more aware of them. They have a tendency to reach out to my mind unconsciously during moments of stress. I'm not sure if that's just me or if it's a succubus thing. I am only half succubus. It's not like I got lessons in how to use my super-spiffy demon powers," she added with a touch of sarcasm.

Asha went back to the line, a little unsure at first, but gaining confidence as no one stopped her from grabbing another tray and piling it even higher with food than the last one. By the time she was done she was having trouble carrying it because the tray was so heavy.

After a couple of false starts she made her way back to the table and sighed with relief as she sat down. "Who knew food was so heavy?" she asked rhetorically before attacking her second helping of dinner.

"Ya know," she said with her mouth full, "mebbe thas why I got these new powers now. I dint have enuff food before...not enuff enegy."

"You definitely need to eat as much as you can. A pretty girl like you doesn't need to be so thin. If you can put on a little extra, it might keep you from nearly passing out when your powers kick on. I think you'll get used to the magic diet soon enough."
Apparently Tybalt has a bit of Italian Grandmother somewhere in his soul.
He continues going at his meal with gusto.
"So, I don't quite know what your power is. It isn't magic and it isn't psionics, so I don't really know what to call it. So, unless you're part ghost, I really don't know where it comes from. We can maybe take you to the infirmary after we check back in with Tryko'Sam and get a scan to see if we can find anything. I do know that if we can figure out what your powers are, the school can probably help you control them. Gah this food is great. I love this place."

"That is exactly why I am contacting you. I'm not entirely sure of the events of yesterday, but the Headmaster told me that the team which originally contained her thought that they had contained the virus as well. I'm not sure what the nature of the disease is, but you may want to place Avalon in lockdown for the moment. Most of us who are here are also infected if my guess is correct." Tyrrin says grimly through the radio connection, watching David fly off to buy them some time.

"I... fear the townspeople it has infected are already dead, but I do not want to risk actually killing them if they are still alive. Professor Yrrum has identified it has a sentient virus - it is alive, which is why I contacted you concerning the woman. Magical disease removal does very little or nothing. I was going to try an anti-magic field to see if that breaks the hive-mind at least. If you have any suggestions, please let me know."

There's a slight pause before Tyrrin speaks again. "And should we fall, please tell those to whom I am close that I apologize for being reckless."

Ehos has a momentary thought, given what Ginni had said. Something he keeps private from Ginni, sending only to Ace and Jaiye. ::Uh... this is probably way out there... but would it possible that Kara is Ginni's mother? That sounds almost exactly what Miss Jones said about how I was still being affected. Might explain why she's apparently taken such an interest in Avalon."

Knowing that it would be strange to suddenly stop the conversation with Ginni, Ehos continues something else on the datapad: 'Alright then... at least Miss Jones has put in blocks that will help me resist her influence... but she still might know everything that we've planned so far, if she had such easy access to my mind. We were going to try and set a trap for her using another couple, but maybe that won't work.'

Belsayv (Vickory)

Vickory's quick look over the locking mechanism reveals a pair of problems - there are two traps on the lock, both magical in nature. She would have to disable those before freeing the prisoners. If she had the right key, the traps wouldn't activate...

Up to you if you want to attempt to disarm the traps or not VIckory. If not you still have a standard action in the combat.

If we can get all the infected in the same body of water their is a good chance that I can remove this disease from all of them at one time and tell if they are alive.
