I am considering running the Storm King's Thunder in sort of modular segments, ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 2. If there is enough interest for tier 1, I can run the Great Upheaval, which will take you up to level 5.
Then I was planning to run the Triboar portion for level 5.
Then the Oracle of the All Father chapter.
Then the Fire Giant chapter.
So, anyone interested?

It can be tier 1, but Great Upheaval is supposed to be the intro adventure, so it is a great excuse to bring in a brand new hero! Should be fine either way!
EDIT: As it is a HC adventure, I think you can level out and still play, as long as you stick with it the whole way. (No adventure jumping.) At least that is the interpretation that I glean from the rules.

I can wait until Mordenkainen's comes out. Yeah, I expect to have a fairly interesting bunch! ;)
Roster:
Sliver - Ranger 1 (Dax)
Greycastle

Buckshot makes 7, which will put us at our max table size. Anyone after this will be an alternate, if someone drops out.
Stigand, you are very welcome to have your first 5e experience with us! Make sure that you all review the Adventurers League Players Guide:

So...I am torn on whether to Warlock or not. I very much like the concept and have a solid grasp of rp for the char. But, that concept could put strain on the group as a whole. As I have found out recently, having a difficult char over the textual play medium seems unadvisable due to the fact that it makes me look like a jerk. Thoughts..?
char info: Warlock w/ a greater old one patron.
summarized concept: Insane cultist that believes in the insanity as a good thing, something to be achieved.
tactics: utilizes psychic damaging attack spells, flavored as telepathic communications from char 'telling truths' to the target.

Dalron Cleric of Ilmater |

I say play what you want. Instead of being a jerk you could try and put a humorous spin on him. ie, small rocks are his friends and during rest he places then around for his time at watch. Or to scout ahead he tells a rock to report back what he finds and throws it where HE was to scout. Just some ideas.

still looking over classes and saw the paladin quick start says to use the Noble background. read up on that and came up with this.
Knight variant of the Noble background - his retainers are squire helping the knight(Paladin) don/doff his armor in the morning/night(fix dents and clean armor and sharpen weapons), Order of the Gauntlet banner bearer(cook and camp maker), and his groom. The groom has to use coconut shells until my knight could afford a horse.
also debating rogue and monk. may multiclass those two.

Yes, brainstorm!
@Saashaa, like Buckshot said, he could be harmless, humorous insane until his friends are threatened, the he gets downright scary!
@Buckshot/Dalron, I have been playing since mid-80s. My mom got the red box for me and my sister. Been through all of the editions except 4th. Tried, but just couldn't get into it.
@Stigand, nice nod to Holy Grail... :)

Okay, no worries. Yeah, in a home game, I would allow it, but AL is a little more strict about that...
Don't worry too much about optimizing. I am not the type of DM that runs everything as optimized. I play the monsters to their Intelligence and what would make sense to be their general tactics.
I am not saying do not, but don't feel like you HAVE to to have fun in this game. :)

Aukan Knows-No-Fear |

Alright GM. I decided to keep Aukan as a Goliath, I like the idea of playing a taciturn yet brutal warrior.
Aukan will wade into battle with a song on his lips, singing the mountain hymns of his Clan. He thinks of nothing but glory in battle and to conquer the Giant scourge.
He will be a smash things first, ask questions of the smashed things later kind of character.
