Possibly....I was briefly in a game of Spooky's back in summer that ended due to him needing to take care of RL things; I hope he's okay and nothing bad has happened or resurfaced :\

Usually it's good to PM the person and then wait about a week, then again I have been in games where the posting dies down for a month and picks right back up.

Hate to say it, but I've looked at several other PbP games that Spooky has started and many last about a month or so, and then he disappears. So this seems like SOP for him. I would think we need to start looking for a new GM, or just call it a day.
Kyra Altreas
It's a shame, because his writing is rather great. :/
So, who'll do the honors of starting up the thread? We should probably list things that we're looking for in a DM, no? At least, I know what drew me to the game (aside from it being WotR) was the promise of good RP, not only for the story itself, but for each character involved. The cinematic fights helped as well, mind.

The promise of good, in-depth RP is what convinced me to apply in the first place. Well that, and Spooky's storytelling capabilities, based on what I saw when I played in a game of his back in the summer. I can go either way on the cinematic fights; I like having maps and such but they're not a hard requirement for me.
What about posting rate? I'm content to stick to the "try and make at least 1 post a day through the week" guideline that most games seem to aim for. I guess we should also think about how much we'd be willing to alter our character builds for a prospective DM - we might get takers who would prefer we lower the point buy or something else, for example.
Elmae Valmia
True, I can go either way on the fights, as long as they're done well and aren't a matter of "It bites you. Your turn."
With the point buy, I guess whoever makes the thread can just mention that we're on a 20-point buy and hope for the best? As for posting rate, once a week is easily doable, and any more than one post per week is even better (twice a week, anyone? =P)
I suppose I can make a thread once we figure out what we'll ask for, in any case.

Agreeing with Kyra, the RP and cinematic fights are all things that draws me into a campaign that tells a story.
I don't think I am hampered that much if we used a lower point buy - perks of being a SAD caster, although others might be more affected than I am.
Elmae Valmia
If everyone's cool with it, I'm gonna make the thread soon. I need input from everyone, though. Otherwise, we risk setting conditions someone isn't happy with. I've gotten feedback from Lily and Salomae, still missing it from others.

Mmmmkay, thread's up! I guess go ahead and introduce yourselves and all that fun stuff. ^^

Hello all!
I am Silvertongue, your new DM! I'll try to live up to the expectations you had for this campaign back when Spooky was running things, namely epic cinematic combat encounters and great roleplaying. It's my belief that not everything needs to come to rolling dice on skill checks if you're arguments hold weight for the specific character you are interacting with. The other side of that coin though, is that you can't just say, 'I Diplomacy the NPC' and roll the check. In the same vein, I understand the desire for better combat than, 'I swing my sword'. I'll do what I can to keep fights interesting and lively if you guys promise the same.
For maps, encounters, and general table stuff, I've set up a page at Roll20. I'm still very new to that site, but it looks very impressive and I'm optimistic about the things it will make possible in the future. The first map is a little rough looking, but I'm still learning. Here is the link to the campaign on that site for you guys to join as players. I've got the first map set up with tokens for each of you and the NPC's you've found. Once you've joined, I'll give you control of your character's token.
I'm sad to hear we've lost one of our players, but I kinda figured it might happen since the DM disappeared. There's still five of you left, and I'm thinking that's going to be fine for now unless you guys want to have a recruitment for one more. In either case, we can begin playing. If we recruit another, they can be found in the caverns similar to the NPC's you've found.
Now I've looked over your character sheets, backstories, and I've given your gameplay thread a look as well. Your characters all look great and I'm glad you all have some great backstories with nice plot threads for me to pull at...
Overall, everything looks fine and I'm just about ready to take over here. If anyone has any questions for me specifically, go ahead and shoot. I look forward to fun campaign with you all!
Elmae Valmia
Right, since we lost Milhar, would you be okay with Elmae taking the Trickster spot? It was the slot I'd originally submitted her for, since it fits her fighting style a lot better than Champion does, imo. If not, that's okay, but I do feel as though the history I wrote out for the Trickster path flows much better than anything I could do with Champion.
DM Silvertongue
That's fine by me. If we feel we need the Champion role filled, I can whip up a recruitment thread to pull in someone new. I'll be sure to lay out the same restrictions you guys had in your recruitment as well. I'll make sure to say we're looking for someone to specifically fill the Champion slot on the team, complete with trait.
Sound good? Or do you guys think we can do without?
Lily Taharial
Like, Elmae, I am perfectly ok with either option. Objectively speaking, we potentially don't_need_a new player, but that doesn't mean at all that a new player wouldn't be welcome, and it does allow the opportunity for extra rp, so I am totally at ease with what we decide to do.
Salomae Amsel
Sorry to see you go Milhar, I'm sorry that we didn't get much time to play together!
*waves* Hi DM Silvertongue!
I know it doesn't make the decision easier, but I'm amiable either way on recruiting a new 6th or not. From a purely gameplay standpoint, we probably don't *need* a 6th unless we really want to stick to the 'one of each path' plan and not recruiting would mean that we can get back to playing more quickly. On the other hand, another person means potentially more good RP - the more the merrier and all that. If we do decide to recruit, I'm sure it would be easy enough to find a new player :)
(Since you've not said anything to the contrary, I'm assuming that you're okay with Jenner sticking around as well as my general idea for him?)
DM Silvertongue
Okay, well that's the majority saying they have no strong feelings one way or the other. In that case, I'll draft up a recruitment thread sometime tonight and let it run for just under a week. In the meantime, we can keep playing. Half of Kenabres' main square fell into the caverns you find yourselves in. You guys were saved by Terendelev so you're fine. THe NPC's weren't but they're mostly fine. Its not inconceivable that someone else survived the fall somewhere else farther on ahead...
And yes Salomae, your plan for Jenner is absolutely fine. Silvanshees are on the Improved Familiar list, and if you want to flavor it so that the cat ISN'T EVEN HIS FINAL FORM! then that's fine by me.
DM Silvertongue
Alright, time to take the reins!
I've set you all up on the Roll20 map according to what you guys were hashing out with your marching order. If it turns out this is not quite correct, go ahead and move yourself into the correct position.
First post inbound!
EDIT: Also, for combat, I'm going to roll your group's average initiative vs the enemies' average initiative. When it's your group's turn to go, the order the posts come in is the way the combat rolls. That way, no one ends up waiting to post because someone ahead of them in initiative order hasn't posted yet and they want to see what they'll do.
Spooky GM
Well this has just been the goddamn worst year ever for me. Catastrophic computer failure twice in one year? F#$@, man. I was about to come back, try and see if everyone was still around and ready to go, but looks like I got up and running again only days too late. Glad to see you guys found someone who could keep things running though, and good luck everyone.
Olivia Wormwood
I've been stuck in the bed the past several days super ill. Just now starting to get better, but I'm still really wiped out. I'll try to post sometime later today (the twentieth).
