Oh yes! Lilith is so hot I included a picture of her hotness.
Which is a joke. She's not really hot, just kinda scary. :P
My Lillith was more 'really creepy' scary. ;)
Anyway, Shanosuke, how woud you rule the following?
Adina is a level 2 Wordcasting Sorceress. She has effect/meta words known instead of spells. The human favored class bonus would give her two level 0 spells if she were a normal Sorceress.
Given how very few Words there actually are(so sad, given the potential), would the favored class bonus give her extra effect/meta words or spells known?

Where can I find the rules for this um.....Archetype maybe? I would like to review them as this is the first I have heard of this variant Sorcerer.
Shanosuke
Hmm I admit I haven't even touch the Words of Power rules. I would need to go over them. In the past when I introduced rules I did not fully understand it had the unfortunate side effect of destroying the campaign I used them in horribly.
I will spend some time going over them but it will be tricky with me trying to launch these two campaigns I am trying to run at the moment.
Do you have a backup if I decide against words of power?
Shanosuke
Okay... so I'm tossing some ideas around for class. I'm bouncing around between straight fighter, bard w/ Dervish of Dawn archtype, or an oracle of Flame.
All builds I'm leaning towards Dervish Dance. Dex = little armor = good in the desert.
I am for all those concepts. I am not personally worried about class dinamics in a party, I am more concerned with entertaining. The campaign is easily adjustable to accommodate an unbalanced party if need be. Play the class you want to play I am more concern with personalities and stories than classes.
Like I said, I was in a game where the whole party was nothing but wizards. All different schools but wizards. Five freakin spell slinging crazy mad wizards. We were the nuttiest bunch of reckless magic casters you'd ever met and we squashed everything with no front line in the party what so ever. It is true, magic does solve everything.
Faelyn
I've been leaning towards the oracle of flame with a custom desert elf race. I have a concept in mind with that... a fire dancer (which would be considered the holy leader of the tribes). I like the flavor of the dervish dance and the mixing of the oracle of flame. I'll work on getting together a racial build and see what you think.

Have you considered being a follower of the Sarengave god Daiga. His alignment is variable as no one knows his purpose but desert tribes draw their power from him. He is praised for many things, but the most common being creation.
It is said the sources and secrets of this Daiga can be found out in the deepest recesses of the Sarengave a.k.a. Aridia.
Just a thought.

I think that'd be an awesome idea. Do you have any more information you could share about Daiga, beyond what you already have? Or could you recommend if Flame oracle would be an acceptable mystery for a follower of Daiga.
Shanosuke
Glad to see so many folks from Runelords made it over. (I was playing Horatio, everybody's favourite arrogant prat)
I'm currently drawing up a human inquisitor of Abadar, hoping to get to the bottom of the Daiga cult. Still not too great at building backstories, but I'll post the crunchy bits soon.
Glad to see you are interested. I really liked your bard in ROTRL. I look forward to seeing this Inquisitor idea you have.
Would be an interesting dynamic if both you and Faelyn got into this game together. A follower of Daiga and an inquisitor hunting such followers. Oh the possibilities.

And to elaborate a little more on Raine's personality, as I didn't do a whole lot of that before:
Life in the desert is harsh. Threats and enemies abound, and not all of them can be killed with a sword. Raine she sees city life as indulgent and unnecessarily hedonistic. Raine owns nothing that she cannot load onto Simoom, and lives life by this philosophy: that one should always be ready to move on, as the desert dictates.
Most elves are creatures of grace-- social grace as well as physical grace. Raine's tribe is definitely the exception to the first, and as far as the latter goes, while speed is prized, so too is endurance-- strength-- staying power, to outlast the desert's harshness. Raine is proud of her physical prowess-- her naturally slender elven form is sinewy with hard-earned muscle. (At least part of this is due to the higher-protein diet that the desert elves eat, as opposed to the plant-heavy diet of forest elves, but a lot of it is just that Raine has worked at it.)
Raine stands a few inches short of six feet, and is whipcord lean, with defined muscles in her calves, thighs, and shoulders. Her skin is a tawny bronze from the sun, and her eyes the same gold as a hawk's. Her hair is also tawny-- creating the impression, overall, of some sort of desert hunting cat, all yellows and browns and golds to blend in with the desert sand.
She wears robes of a drab dun to better help her disappear into the desert, and leans easily on the long hooked pole that serves as her primary weapon.
Raine is still young as elves reckon it, and takes her mission very seriously, eager to prove herself.

So far some quality submissions. I like the themes and concepts very well. I also see some possible Dynamics that interest me.
All in all I am looking forward to the challenge of picking players.
Either Thursday or Friday, central American time, I will post a list collective list of Applicants. It will include those ready to be considered and those whom have yet to complete their ideas. Also, I will list the names and PM those who have shown interest but have not put forth their ideas yet.
I will be on breifly tomorrow to answer any questions.
I also have a second campaign up called Curse of the Old Ones. It is a very challenging dinosaur heavy campaign that is heavily focused on survival and revenge. So if you think I am good with ideas, feel free to check that one out as well.

Okay... so here's my first attempt at a custom race with the race builder, be gentle.
Sarengave Elves – Aryth’anis “People of the Golden Dawn” (12 RP)

• Type: Sarengave lves are Humanoids with the elf subtype.

Movement Racial Traits

Fluff to come! Heading home now... I will type up the story behind the race when I get home and settled.
El Ronza
*waves* Hello, good sir! I know our characters didn't quite get along, heheh...
Okay, my crunch is almost done - just gotta pick traits. "Haroun ibn Yusef al-Hasib" is a 2nd-level inquisitor of Abadar, with a horse (to carry stuff) and a hawk (for no other reason than 'screw it, pet hawk'). He's also the character I've put the most effort into naming to date, so yay I guess?
I'll post crunch tomorrow when I've sorted out the last details, and sleep on the fluff, so I can hopefully start posting that as well.
El Ronza
Turns out Arabic names are confusing, but if I've done it correctly, it means "Haroun, son of Yusef, the noble". Haroun is an Arabic form of Aaron, and Yusef is an Arabic form of Joseph.
If anyone reading this happens to be more familiar with Arabic names and naming traditions than I am, and I turns out I've done something wrong, please correct me.

Favored class: Witch
Favored class bonus: Witch (+1HP)
Aura of Desecration (Su)
At first level, a gravewalker can create a 20-foot-radius aura of evil power. This aura increases the DC of channeled negative energy by +1 and the turn resistance of undead by +1. At 3rd level and every 2 levels thereafter, the radius of the aura increases by 5 feet, to a maximum of 70 feet at 20th level.
This ability replaces the witch’s 1st-level hex.
Bonethrall (Su)
At 1st level, a gravewalker can take control of an undead creature within her aura of desecration by forcing her will upon it (Will negates, using her hex DC.) If it fails the save, the creature falls under her control as if she had used command undead (once control is established, the undead remain controlled even if outside the witch’s aura). Intelligent undead receive a new saving throw each day to resist her command. The witch can control up to 1 HD of undead creatures per caster level. If an undead creature is under the control of another creature, the witch must make an opposed Charisma check whenever her orders conflict with that creature’s.
This replaces the witch’s hex gained at 4th level.

Light: Object shines like a torch
Read Magic: Read scrolls and spellbooks.
Spark: Ignites flammable objects

Ill Omen: You afflict the target with bad luck. On the next d20 roll the target makes, it must roll twice and take the less favorable result. For every five caster levels you have, the target must roll twice on an additional d20 roll (to a maximum of five rolls at 20th level)
Beguiling Gift: You offer an object to an adjacent creature, and entice it into using or consuming the proffered item.
-------------------------
Hex lvl 2: Cauldron. [receive bonusfeat "Brew Potion" and +4 insight on Alchemy checks]
-------------------------
Familiar: Poppet (doll)

WAIT!!!
...I finished my fluff.
May I present Farid Sa'd-Ghalib, falconer, mounted archer, child of the desert nomads, and guide to those who wish to explore the region! Backstory is in the profile, though I may be expanding it and/or including some form of RP sample if I have time and inclination. He'll mainly be progressing in Ranger, though his Boon Companion feat means his mount won't fall behind for a few levels yet.
Adina Eyvendr
As a note on her class, Adina is going to be a Crossblooded Arcane(Wildblooded: Sage)/Elemental(Air, Wildblooded: Primal) Sorceress.
Smart, with extra zap! to spells/wordspells with the Electricity descripter. ;)
Crossblooded is an archtype from Ultimate Magic, Wildblooded is an archetype from Ultimate Magic as well.
Meriui bin Mircea
hustonj, here.
I got through a lot of the crunch on the concept last night, but got distracted and did not finish the background to try to fit that set of mechanics into your described setting.
As I had mentioned, this is an attempt to create a Fremen style character . . ..
As there is no power at work today (I got sent home at lunch time), I will endeavor to complete the information in this profile during what WOULD NORMALLY BE my work day. I can not post from work. Not going to happen.
I have a description, gear, a language (trying NOT to take Chaksoba, but I want to!), and the final formatting of the skills section to go before I would consider the submission complete. But there's quite enough to get a feel for the character, I think.
Lilith 'Hearteater'
I second that. I believe all involved would think that's a grand idea. :)
EDIT: @Adina Oh, if you were talking about my stat block, I could copy paste it to you with the codes and all that so you could just replace my filler. Not sure if I was who you were referring to, but I'm always willing to lend a hand if I can.
Shanosuke
I finally finished going over everyone's backstories. Read em all.
I also found Melcar's backstory about Polm too so that is accounted for.
I see there are some of you with crunch but no story. I look forward to them.
Now, I am thinking on closing recruitment either tomorrow or friday. I will then introduce those of you I select into mini RPG I call Souls of Aridia Crucible. Here I will make the final decision on who I want in the game and which group they will be in.
Anyway, There is still time for more submissions and fluff building so keep it coming.
