changes to Jak (for level 2 arcane duelist)

+9 hp (14/19 current)
+1 BAB (attacks, CMB, CMD)
+1 Reflex & Will Saves (+6 & +4 respectively)
+2 more rounds of Inspire
Spells: 1 additional level 1 spell & added Vanish to the list
Feats: got Combat Casting from Arcane Duelist
Skills (12 new ranks): 1 rank into the following - Appraise, Bluff, Climb, Diplomacy, Escape Artist, Intimidate, knowledge: Arcana, Knowledge: Dungeon, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Stealth (and technically, Linguistics… I had this one spent at level 1 and didn't realize I was over-spent)

Also, should we be moving on in the game thread? Or are we waiting for something?

Rat Bastard, Cheeky Monkey, Sly Fox, <insert anthropomorphic animal metaphor here>

If your characters are all updated, feel free to do some stuff in the game thread. I've already got your icons all updated n' sitch!

FYI, for skills I just added a rank to everything except I took a rank in Heal this time instead of Profession (Lumberjack).

Thank you kindly for the offer of the silver longsword. I was ready to accept the masterwork blade, but I realize that Lyrica has selected a Weapon Focus of Scimitar. It is the weapon of Sarenrae and Lyrica really is trying to dedicate her life to that weapon. In the end, the +1 bonus gained by Masterwork would cancel with the loss of the weapon focus bonus. Besides, Lyrica is a dancer who needs lighter armor and loves to fight with grace. She imagines herself to be like a whirling dervish. So, I think if Jak is inclined to use the longsword, then I will gladly let him. I love the idea of the silver masterwork blade, but as I think about it, I know Lyrica would be too attached to the scimitar given to her by her father.

Hey, chic's dig dudes with big blades, right? :D

Does anyone else want it? Anyone who's not already carrying a masterwork blade given to us by a town elder? Aerik? Zeke? Ether you you guys able to put this thing to good use? :)

Hmm, I suppose I could melt it down for the silver and make some holy water out of it...

(hp 11/35, AC 18, T 13, FF 15, Initiative +3, Perception +9)

If I read it correctly, druids don't have weapon "vow" restrictions any more like they did in 3.5. Only armor ones. So I could use it without losing any of my abilities, but I'm not proficient, so I'd eat a -4 penalty to attack rolls. So I'll take a pass. ;)

I guess that settles it, then. Jak's our blade-bearer.

Hey Jak, sorry I just offered it to Lyrica and not you. I didn't think you were proficient.

Now let's go kill us an undead abomination!

Should we all sound off on healing real quick? I'm down 5 so I could use a TDW attempt. I can help out with those on other people now if anyone else needs one.

Lol. It's fine. Jak's been in the market for a longsword... just couldnt' afford one on our meager starting budget.

And Jak's down 5 hp, as well. TDW would be ideal if we could arrange it.

Ezekiel's still in good shape HP wise, and I certainly don't mind helping with the healing. I believe Aerik's still with a higher Heal check at present, so I'll assist him on the rolls, if he's okay with it. Otherwise take my rolls as primary.

Also, unless you abort the plan, I'll need a couple of Heal rolls from Aerik to go with Ez's AAs. Ez, I'll change your second AA to Lyrica since Marcus is healed.

Before laying on Hands, Lyrica was at 25/27. Was I able to heal those last two hit points? Also, was I correct that Jak, Aerik, and Marcus were all in need of healing?

Oh and Lyrica... your alignment is in jeopardy since CLEARLY you were using Lay on Hands as an excuse to touch Jak. Your denials are a tissue of lies. As we all know, you are playing Leia to his Han Solo. :P

I promise, Lyrica will only use her lay on hands as long Jak does does not get hurt in the privates!

I can promise no such thing.

Unless I'm missing something, you didn't make an attempt to heal yourself so I believe you are still down 2 points.

Sheesh! So much for being Florence Nightingale! Sarenrae frowns on your unwillingness to aid a man in need. Your alignment is in jeopardy. :) This is what we like to call a Damned-if-you-do-and-damned-if-you-don't sitch-e-a-shun.

Had the Pananggalan paralyzed one more person and lasted two more rounds... Oh, I had such exquisitely vile plans for her.

Stormy, please check the beginning of post #1305 when she discovered her lay on hands ability.

I suppose, Lyrica will do what she must in name of the Dawnflower! Just make sure Jak does go out and try to get injured in such places!

Heal roll is in. Aerik is ready to sacrifice himself. Er, I mean. To throw the switch for you guys.

Huh. When I first read that I could have sworn the first and second Lay Hands were on Jak. No problem, I'll adjust the numbers.

Tonight I'm going to go see Brit Floyd . I understand they are the world's greatest Pink Foyd show. I hear they are planning to do all of Dark Side of the Moon.

Sorry for the delay. I was out at the concert last night and did not return until nearly 1 am.

I am having trouble seeing the value of enlarge person. It gives me a +2 Strength Bonus, but with the added size, I lose a -1 to Attack and -1 to AC anyway. So in the end, my Attack stays the same, I take up more room, and basically gain +1 on a damage dice roll while losing -1 to AC. I know lots of players who use the spell, but help me, what is the big advantage?

the big advantage is that your weapon becomes large. so it does more than 1d6 dmg. not sure what it goes up to though.

just looked it up. 1d6 goes to 1d8. it ends up being a bit nicer if you are two-handing a greatsword or greataxe

Plus, it evens the playing field on your reach. This guy has reach on us, you having reach limits his tactical options somewhat.

And yes, it's more beneficial if you're 2-handing a bigger weapon, but the added damage (even if it's not a huge bump) could make a difference here.

As previously stated, the major bonus is the increased damage die and the reach. Also the bonus to CMB and CMD. Also you end up losing two points of AC if I recall, due to less dex and going large. Plus in addition to the +2 strength, if that were to change, for example, a +3 to +4, that's 2 damage if using a 2 hander :)

Ah, the advantage of always forgetting you have hero points...when you reaaaaally need them, you have them! (as long as someone reminds you.)

Sheesh! I guess so...

Seriously glad you have them, though.

What did Justin's spoiler to you say? "Nya nya! I broke your character!"

Rat Bastard, Cheeky Monkey, Sly Fox, <insert anthropomorphic animal metaphor here>

I was more sensitive. I think I said, "All those of you with still living characters, raise your hand... Not you, Ez."

Ha! Geez....

Sooooooo... Zeke's dead.

... or is he?

Strike me down and I shall come back barely alive and breathing shallowly!

-- NOTICE --

Guys, I'm flying back to Seattle early Thursday to wrap up the sale of our house, sell our remaining stuff, etc. When we get back here, we'll be doing the whole move from our digs in CT to Brooklyn, setting up utilities... yada yada yada.

The upshot here is that I definitely don't have much online time now and I'll be jamming into the first week in May. I'll try to post but my appearances may be sparse.

On the upside, I get a new theme song:

J's Theme

Or for you more mellow types...

J's ALT Theme

Lol. nice.

Good luck with all the moves and stuffs.

Gonna be out-of-pocket today. Unlikely to be able to post. Tomorrow should be normal.

May 13th to the 17th I'll be attending a leadership conference, just a friendly heads up. Please feel free to bot me if needed.

Silent Bump

Okay, i r confused.

Was the plan for Jak and Marcus to be ahead of us, or did we finish the trek to town? I think I'm just being a tad dense at present and I'm not quite certain.

(hp 38/38, AC 17, T 11, FF 11, Initiative +1, Perception +5, Fort +8, Ref +6, Will +10)

I've never seen Stormy absent for this long. Do you think everything is ok? How is everyone else doing?

I'm doing fine. I haven't heard from him in over a week or two... which is disconcerting.

I'm hoping he is simply overwhelmed and not something more serious.

Also doing fine here (well, by certain definitions of the word).

And agree on sR. Hope it's nothing serious keeping him away.

(hp 11/35, AC 18, T 13, FF 15, Initiative +3, Perception +9)

Checking in. I'm doing good. May as well mention I'll be out of town (Disney! Woot!) From June 22-29 with limited (read: phone only) access to the internet.

Did anyone try to email SR yet?

Make sure to say hi to Darth Goofy while you're there!

I'm here too and done with work for the summer. Hope everything is ok with SR. I can try to look through my PMs and see if I have his email.

I have it. I'll check in with him.

No word from Stormraven. Not sure what's going on, though I hope he's alright.

(hp 38/38, AC 17, T 11, FF 11, Initiative +1, Perception +5, Fort +8, Ref +6, Will +10)

We'll just wait and see. I know School has been crazy for me and time has been very tight.

I did hear from stormraven. He is still alive. He said he'd try to at least check in some time soon. Not sure what to expect.
