Arcos lands a bolt of lightning on the wasp. Its wings flutter in shock as it is disoriented in the pain, momentarily.

The cultists in the boy's former cell fan out to attack Lubella and the still paralyzed Talvek.

With the door secured, Aldren slips into the sideroom with Talvek and Lubella, then calls on Calistria to freeze one of the cultists.

The panic was rising in Talvek as he found himself unable to move and surrounded by foes. His armour did only little to protect him from blows, and he imagines it will be only a matter of time until the cultists slash him to ribbons, even with Fhingle's healing. Perhaps more pain will snap me out of it... he thinks.

Lubella thought that the cult leader must be just through the door; she thought she had caught sight of someone casting a spell. She tried to dodge past the cultist at the door, and reach the spellcaster!

Acrobatics, Heroism: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 2 = 16 pretty sure that's a failure.

The light blue line shows her attempted path. The DC is 5+orange's CMD. If she fails, she will stop and provoke an AoO from orange. I think she moves at half speed; if Expedition Retreat is still running, she could have enough movement to reach the leader and attack.

Battle Dance used: 9/15

Since orange attacked Talvek, I think he will automatically attack orange, if he is still confused on his turn.

Aldren prays more to Calistria, this time to protect himself and his allies from the cultists' attacks.

Protection from Evil, Communal -- 2 minutes to Lubella and Talvek each, 1 minute to Aldren

Protection from Evil:
First, the subject gains a +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus on saves. Both these bonuses apply against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures.

Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person. This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect. If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. This spell does not expel a controlling life force (such as a ghost or spellcaster using magic jar), but it does prevent them from controlling the target. This second effect only functions against spells and effects created by evil creatures or objects, subject to GM discretion.

Third, the spell prevents bodily contact by evil summoned creatures. This causes the natural weapon attacks of such creatures to fail and the creatures to recoil if such attacks require touching the warded creature. Summoned creatures that are not evil are immune to this effect. The protection against contact by summoned creatures ends if the warded creature makes an attack against or tries to force the barrier against the blocked creature. Spell resistance can allow a creature to overcome this protection and touch the warded creature.

So, this should give Talvek another save against the Confusion with a +2 bonus.

Unfortunately, PvEvil does not help Talvek against Confusion since by FAQ, there is no explicit mind control of his actions.
I am not a fan of this ruling btw. It will help against hold person or charm type spells.

Seeing no opponents nearby but hearing the fighting continuing, Sidius heads toward his companions to offer support -- and throws a slumber hex at the cultist blocking the door and Lubella's progress.

Will vs Cold? (prot from evil): 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 1 = 16 Only giving myself a +1 bonus on the save as I already have a Cloak of Resistance +1 and I don't think those bonuses stack.

Aldren takes the full force of the cold damage, though it is blunted somewhat by his more jaded and self-indulgent nature. (-7 for Neutral, Failed Save)

No sooner had Sidius caused the cultist in the doorway to fall asleep, when a giant wasp appeared to block the way through. Continuing to dance, she tried to slip past it into the room beyond.

I presume this failed once again, which will provoke another AoO.
Whether of not she makes it through, she should still be able to attack.

Interesting. I hadn't thought Aldren was under the life link spell, but going back through Fhingle's posts, I think he was included after all.

The half-elf was growing increasingly furious. Talvek was confused. The cultists' leader was so far eluding them, attacking from behind her minions. Lubella's attacks thwarted. And the damned wasp had come around again -- a wasp! She will pay for the blasphemy, Mistress! But first... he had to keep his allies alive.

He converted one of his spells to heal the wounded tiefling, then prayed the confusion wouldn't drive Talvek to attack his own allies before taking a 5'-step to get a better view of the wasp and into the next room.

Sidius reaches into his pouch and draws out some herbs, quickly twisting them before reaching forward to rub them on Talvek, trying to coincide with Aldren's movements. b]"It'll make you feel better,"[/b] he says, hoping that gets through to the Tiefling's confused mind.

Herbal Remedy (v. Sick): 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 - 2 = 19 That beats the save we needed, so that would end Talvek's sickened condition - though the -2 for being sick myself didn't help - sadly, I can't herbally cure confused.

Lubella looked for an opening to get past the giant wasp. I've got to get through to the leader! But how to get by this obnoxiously large wasp? Insects have no right to be that big!

Aldren is able to call upon his mistress to cure some of the injuries Talvek had sustained. The irony of the wasp waiting outside to re-inflict injuries is not lost upon him.

Sidius musters his skill to help relieve Talvek of his sickness as well from the cold dank evil afflicting him.

The wasp buzzes loudly, and hovers outside the doorway with its sting.

Aldren tried to shift the tide slightly and called on Calistria to turn the wasp to their cause.

Murderous Command on the Wasp. It affects one "creature" so hopefully will work. Will Save DC 16

Also, may not stack if you have a deflection bonus from another source, but don't forget Protection from Evil on Lubella, Talvek and Aldy.

Lubella hacks into the bug with her small blade, splitting chitin with a crack and spewing foul ichor.

Sidius is able to bring down the confusion spell with flare of his own counter-energies.

Aldren attempts to cause the wasp to enter a murderous rage, but its bug brain cannot fathom the concept.

As far as the prot v evil, yes, the bug is evil, so the deflection will come into play, but not the hedging since Lubella attacked it already. I added to status below for future reference.

The wasp tries to sting the small creature which stung it.
