Here is my entry Pavok Kor'tell, the Human(Kellid) Paladin-1.

Description:
A man standing around 6ft tall with a medium build. His skin is tan and with a close examination you can see a death mark branded into his lower neck. He has long black hair with a light beard to match. He wears a travelers outfit in earthtones, with a bit of bulk sticking out of the shirt revealing a chain shirt underneath. He is draped in various light blades and other one handed weapons with a wooden shield on his back. As well carrying two large sacks.

Interview:
A Cloaked figure moves across the sand, hefting to large bags. As he makes his way over to the Caravan, he starts looking around. Finally he saw a few others talking with the caravan master and patiently waits til its his turn to talk with the man.

As the man finishes his conversation with a few of his men he notices the cloaked man waiting for him.

"Can I help you sir?"The Caravan Master asks the cloaked man.
The cloaked man responds,"I think so, is this the caravan going to the fabled city of Aridia?"The Caravan Master nods yes to the others question. The cloaked man drops his bags and shakes the Caravan Master's and says "The name's Pavok Kor'tell, a paladin of Torag. I wish to join your caravan." The Caravan Master crosses his arms and takes a long look at Pavok and replies,"Well young man sorry if this is to blunt, but whats you do lad?" "I could go on that I'm skilled with these weapons, or I am able to keep your caravan's weapons sharp and repaired. I could go on and list my skills to help you but I'm not the kind of person to gloat, instead I will offer you a different proposal." Pavok says as he picks up on of the bags.
The caravan master looks puzzled,"So what'cha getting at boy?"

Pavok puts his hood back, and pulls down his collar exposing his death brand. "Let me tell you, I'm not one to deceive. So the story behind this mark shows that I have been sentenced to death in the kingdom of Galt. I hope this proves that I will not try to hide anything from you." The Caravan Master looked sternly at Pavok"I don't understand where your going with this, but why would I let a man marked for death on my caravan?"
Pavok smirks, "Let me finish sir, I would work whatever you need me to do, and only wish to be paid in food and water." As the caravan master begins to say something, Pavok interupts him by lifting the bags and saying"I still have more to offer you." He opens the first bag to reveal a sack of 100gp. "I would like to pay for my trip sir, I can pay 100gp to go there and another 100gp on the way back. So I offer to pay you to hire me for just water and food. I'm not shy when it comes to work, no job is beneath me." He gives a slight bow after this. With a stunned look on his face the Caravan Master takes a moment to respond, "Let me get this straight young one, you're going to pay me to take you along on a trip to a dangerous place and you will on top of that work for me? Whats the catch?" Pavok responds,"No catch dear sir, I just need a place to go to get me back on track and away from Galt's many bounty hunters. I'm ready to serve you and your employer." Pavok waits for the Caravan Master's answer.
The caravan master says,"Well......

Pavoks history is in his alias, I will get the rest of the stats done later. His campaign trait is Hunted/using the money from it to pay for my trip hehe. Let me know Shanosuke if you have any questions.

minor changes to the info. Kept the city as Katapesh and his third language as Kelish, since the Kelishite lifestyle still appeals to him

Jen stumbled into the recruitment tent and made a characteristically bad entrance; her little devil's tail had come untied from her cloak and out from beneath the folds of cloth that hid it. The caravan master looked down at the ghastly sight, before pretending not to care and returning to his work.

Sir, if you have a minute...

She would ordinarily ramble, but today was not the day for her to bring her feelings into the mess. They hadn't served her for years and she wasn't about to let them ruin her last chance at redemption.

I have a great prowess in the arcane arts, as Whiskers can attest to.

A small white cat scampered up Jen's arm and up onto her shoulder.

And unlike those do-gooder wizards, I have a vast array of talents. My potion skills are unmatched.

The caravan master scarcely looked up from his papers, but waved his hand to indicate that she should continue. So far so good.

I've heard that you needed some healing expertise as well. My younger self travelled between small villages to provide healing services, places that those self-righteous clerics didn't know existed!

For the first time, the caravan master looked straight into her eyes. "And why did you leave, then?"

Well, the main reason was that the recent recession hit the healthcare industry pretty hard and I was forced to relocate to maintain my livelyhood.

"That's all? I thought healthcare was a safe industry. I mean, people don't stop getting sick when they are poor."

Well, I was such a good healer that the people never got sick again. Jen tried to squeak out a smile.

The caravan master chuckled slightly at the absurdity of the comment, indicating with his hand that the interview was over. Jen could scarcely contain her signature "evil" cackling as she left.

Any comments about my guy, Shanosuke? Should I stat him up?

I'm working on the following: Kyonin elven magus.

Stats:

Str 18, Dex 15+2, Con 14-2, Int 17+2, Wis 14, Chr 13

My mind also keeps coming back to a half-elven or elven monk/inquisitor... I might go that route instead. The worst part for me is making up my mind. Then it all flows.

Stats:

Str 18, Dex 15+2, Con 14-2, Int 14+2, Wis 17, Chr 13

I hope to have it up tonight of tomorrow morning.

I Like what I'm seeing so far. I do have a few questions for some of the applicants as well as some other rules

First: I don't by into Class alignment restrictions, so I wave the need to by your alignment on the class you want. Example: Neutral Paladins, Lawful Good Druids, or even a Chaotic monk. Simply put, someone who trains in a skill should not have beliefs affect weather you can continue training in it or not. Be whatever alignment you want. I've done thing Gamemastering thing for 12 years and had a lot of unique players over that time, I want you to play the character you want to play.

Second: I do use Hero points for this campaign. You will find rules regarding them in the APG. I use them for additional purposes when leveling which I will explain to the players who get accepted.

Also, I’d like everyone to tell me as too what time zone you live in. This will help in some of my decision making. I live in the US/Canada Central time zone and will be posting once in the morning, around 10-11Am my time on some days I will post anywhere between 4pm to 11pm. And once more before I go to bed somewhere between 10pm to 3am. Depends on the day. My work and school schedules are very complex.

I do have some further questioning if you don’t mind indulging me So far I have:

Mus’ad A male Elven Cavalier with Camel: Mercenary Recruit by Mark Sweetman

For Mus’ad:
Tough Arabian knight kind of guy huh. I like the possibilities. Few campaigns are friendly to those who seek to enjoy a good mounted character. This campaign is very friendly to your kind. I like your character. Just curious, what’s his backstory? Anything interesting that would shape his personality a little more?

Lyric Silverstream a Male Aasimar Oracle of Life: Hunted By Lyic Silversteam

For Lyric:
The refinement helps. Very elaborate story. I like the interview, very creative and I like your characters personality. Be interesting to see what he develops into while out there. No real questions though.

Vivaji Varesh a Male Tengu Desert Ranger by Gruuuu

For Vivaji:
I like this bird. Don’t get too many of those. Unlike human and elves. And a desert ranger at that. Very mysterious fellow. What’s his true purpose? Is his life simply so boring that he’d risk It on such a dangerous endeavor, or is there some other reason I wonder? Just thinking out loud.

Mhykir Millan a Male Oread Oracle of Stone: Adventurer by Caffine_Addict

For Mhykir:
I like the race you chose. Oracle’s going to be a hard pick though. I really do like his story, a vision. Very interesting and a very intense character. Sadly, if I do decide to take an Oracle, I’m likely to take Lyric. So if you want to add more or maybe change things up, It’s up to you.

Ord a Male Human Desert Druid by Poor Wandering one

For Ord:
Very interesting. Definitely useful but I am curious to know more about him. What’s his back story and how skilled is he, and what trait did he take?”

Ceylon Harolkova a Male Elf Wizard Diviner: Adventurer by James Martin

For Ceylon:
Hehe, I love the attitude. An elder elf hehe. Wonder how well he’ll fit in with the rest of the caravan. It’s a tough choice between two wizards. Can he cook? I may have to go with the cook. I get the backstory from the interview. Honestly though, I’ve got a lot of magic users to go with, If I choose a wizard, you have competition If you want to add some refinement, I will be honest, I am still torn between you both to a close degree.

Thaddeus Horne Male Tiefling Wizard: Scholar by scranford

For Thaddeus:
I really like the story. Hehe, and a cook too, I must say that is hilarious. Tiefling cook hehe. Is it possible I could get a better physical description from you?

Hethor Human Male Rouge(Burglar): Hunted by Hethor

For Hethor:
I like this thief and yes I said thief. Very amusing interview I enjoyed reading this one. My only question is, are you going to be ok with this style of gaming? I see that you’re new to the site and while I am not new to DMing online, I am new to the site also.

Faznir Ifrit Male Bard: Lost one. By Rune

For Faznir:
Hehehehehe, very amusing. Your best bet for your class would be a Bard. I really like your backstory. Definitely could fit in into the campaign with ease. I’m particularly interested in your trait. I assume lost “loved” one base on your story, I use loved loosely of course. Good motivation.

Pavok Kor’tell a Male Human Paladin: Hunted. By Roidrage

For Pavok:
Wow so does this mean you’re willing to pay me to join the campaign? That’s desperate but then again so am I. Ok you send me 200 gold dollar coins and you’re in. Just kidding, hehe. I do like your back story. A Paladin with a history, usually they’re pretty clean. I’m not usually fond of Paladins but I like this one. The decision is tough for sure.

Retech A Female Teifling Witch: by Retech

For Retch:
I would like a physical description of your character’s appearance and I am curious to know what trait you chose.

For Dreaming Warforge:
Both are unique and acceptable. I look forward to see what you come up with having those crazy ability scores of yours

Everyone: I would also like your character’s age’s, in human years example: a elf of the age of 110 is equal to 15 human years ok.

You’re all doing great. I’m loving every bit of this. Nice part is, if you don’t get picked here you guys have some great ideas to use elsewhere and if I’m feeling ambitious and comfortable with this PBP, I may open another one. Any of you can change some details about your characters. My advice: There are a lot of magic users but not much choice in other classes.
I’ve got two wizards, and two Oracles. I’m at the point where I will not double up. So the Wizards and Oracles need to be ready to face off or change class cause I will take my favorite character. Also, since I got a nice amount of apps, I may close the hiring station Friday night.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I think I am pretty sold on Lyric as a character. I am supposed to be writing a dissertation. So obviously rather than focus on that I worked a little too hard on my backstory. Plus I have been working with this concept for a few months in my head actually.

I am in Central Time zone, but I keep really odd hours so anytime my time between 1PM and 3AM are times I can likely post.

Initially I was thinking that Lyric was 16, but I am now leaning toward 15 to add that extra naive quality. I am use to playing jaded arcane casters.

Age: 30 (In human. Not exactly sure about how Tiefling ages work)

Physical Description:

Jen has a youthful and slim figure, but it is clear that she has faced many ills in her life by the worn-down appearance of her face, including a slightly crooked nose, acquired from a scuffle with one of the villagers. Her hair is mostly jet-black, but her experimentation in magic and the stresses in her life have turned some of them comparatively white.

Her skin is mostly pale, having been covered by a drab brown cloak and robe most of her life. The cloth is particularly thick near her backside, mainly as a way to distract attention from the little bump that is her tail, one part of her inheritence from her otherwordly parent. The other is her most striking feature; her equally black eyes. While most people never get a glimpse, those that do usually suspect that something is strange about her.

Traits:
-Hunted
-Infernal Bastard

The hunted trait comes from being chased away by villages in the places that she used to work, but I'm not informed enough about the world to make that very specific, so something that can be fleshed out.

And I'm in the Eastern timezone, so GMT -5 or -6

GM:
Trait is scholar, sorry.
He wants to see and feel the desert, to know its secrets and its hidden paths. This motivation may well change once Aridia is revealed to actually exist. But he is joining the expedition for two main reasons. First he wants to learn more about the deep desert. That is a tough place for even a druid to wander alone. Secondly he wants to keep these folks alive. He knows more about the real desert than all but a few others in the area and he is sure they will need him if they want a chance to come back alive and sane.

As far as how skilled he is? He is a first level desert druid with max ranks in survival and a high wisdom, so good but still only first level. The things he mentioned he can do, he can do. Water from rock= create water. Food from the open sky = good-berry and hyperbole. Sandstorm = Find location and endure elements. Camels = empathy and calm animal. The others are just knowledge local, nature and geography.

Ord named after Dipodomys ordii, or Ord’s Kangaroo rat, a desert dwelling little beastie of the American west. was born in a caravan. His family and clan were herders and traders and occasionally raiders when times were tough. He left the clan when he came of age. There was a bad love affair and he was forced into a position where he would have to kill his rival or walk away a lesser man. He hears that his rival and his love have three children now. He no longer uses his clan and family names although he is still a member and visits from time to time.

The family group was in the middle desert when he walked away. He knew enough to survive. Desert dwellers have to but it was a longer trek when he had made before and many things happened that he does not talk about. This is when he became a druid, he was trained by the desert or perhaps he met a mentor out there in Never never land. Your call. Returning to civilization he has been working as a guide, animal trainer, caravan guard, what he could find really.

Although he does not know it Ord is looking to become part of something. Basically he is lonely. This part of him is in conflict with the parts that love the silence and solitude of the deep desert. This inner tension manifests as curtness until he gets to know you.

Did this help?

Pacific US time GMT-8 City of Seattle

Age 20-30 records are not the best among a wandering clan. If an exact number matters call it 22 though Ord does not know the exact number.

Time Zone is Eastern (GMT -5) I'd be posting mostly between 6a-3p central, and sporadically elsewise. My work and school schedule can ALSO get messy, so I know what it's like ;)

Shanosuke:

It's not surprising you don't see many Tengu. I don't know when they got the 'monster as a PC treatment', but my suspicion is Bestiary 2? I know they got a nicer write-up in the Inner Sea World Guide (which I just flipped through today at lunch at the bookstore).
I am delightfully surprised that they didn't attribute any sort of 'fighting demon bird' flavor to the race, and gave it their own flavor.

I have much of Jivaji's background and description in he profile, but I'll repost it here, and add some additional narrative covering the span of time when he left home and arrived here. Much easier now that you mentioned we're on a western continent, and I got to look at the Inner Sea region on the map :)

Also, I don't see an age table for Tengu. I will assume it is similar to Humans and update his profile to coordinate with his extended story.

Jivaji's Background:
Wit, guile, and luck are the only things that kept Jivaji alive on the rough streets of Katapesh. His skill with trap and blade came with being always on his toes; whether by avoiding the law, the thuggish brutes who rules the back allies, or the inevitable retribution the victims of his burglary.

His survival often relied on frequent trips out of the city at night, to prey on unsuspecting beast and traveler alike. However, unlike many of his contemporaries, he only took what he needed, and even occasionally showed some sympathy to the seemingly innocent.

Jivaji yearns to live a life where stealing from innocent people isn't a necessary part of life, and has recently begun training himself to withstand the trials of the wandering road.

Jivaji's Westward Journey:
Jivaji's luck had finally paid off. He'd heard of a small caravan heading west, but following the northern coastline to avoid the harsh heart of the desert. It was travelling all the way to Azir, on the western coast of the continent, and directly north of his ancestor's origin! If there was ever a chance to make an honest living for himself, surely this would be it. Of course, there is no such thing as a free ride. He could not prove to the caravan master that he was worth having along, let alone paying for his presence. The price for transport to the next town was 50g, just shy of the entirety of his coin purse, and it was the easiest money he'd ever spent.

As they gradually picked their way across the cities of the norhtern desert, Jivaji's skill in trapping grew more reliable, and his cost of transport quickly vanished and was replaced with payment. He provided food and water for the small group of men and beast alike, allowing their supplied to stretch twice as long as intended. On rare occasion, he was even afforded the opportunity to stay practiced in the swordfighting techniques passed down to him by his father. Despite this brutal, scorching, uncertain life, Jivaji was somehow finally happy.

Eighteen long months passed, and finally, Azir. The pressing crowd and incessant din of the mass of people was nothing new to Jivaji, but it surprised him how unnatural it all felt. He couldn't shake the feeling that he'd come all this way just to return to his former life of scrounging and stealing. The caravan master had no plans to travel back east for another 6 months, and all inquiries into the next passage south pointed him to a ship leaving in 12 months for Sargava. Certain that he could not travel the unfamiliar Sodden Lands by himself, and very certain that he shouldn't stay in Azir, he sets off on the next ship heading west, promising adventure and one enormous desert...

Jivaji's Description:
This slouching, bird-like humanoid is draped in non-descript, loose-fitting clothing. You can hear soft, hoarse mutterings come from his prominent beak when no one is talking to him.

I'm in the Eastern Time zone as well. During the week I usually post in the morning between 11am to 1pm, then usually post between 4pm to midnight, and finally before bed 1:30am to 3:30am or whenever I decide to sleep haha.

I currently reside in the Mountain Time Zone and have to work in the first half of the day. My posting time would probably be somewhere between 3pm-6pm and 8pm-11pm MST.

While I have done some online RP it is like you said I have not played Pathfinder like this yet. I was a little worried at first about how often and what times I'd have to post but to me it looks like we have a somewhat similar schedule. I will be able to at least post once per day. While I have a few years of D&D 3-3.5 and Pathfinder experience at the gaming table, it is as you said, I have not played it online like this before. I would like to try playing in your campaign but I will understand if you choose someone over me who is more experienced in PBP gaming.

Howdy. Time zone is Eastern US. Posting frequency varies. I'm a Travelling Sales manager, so when I'm local in the office, I can post multiple times in a day. When I'm travelling it's usually first thing in the morning, or later at night. I can usually post at least once a day, but sometimes I can post as much as needed.

Thaddeus appearance

Spoiler:

Thaddeus was always the tall gangley kid with the freckles, kinky red hair, and fair skin. It didn't help that he has hour glass shaped pupils in his pale blue eyes. And, horrors if they ever saw his feet with his six toes per foot. (Think Albino type appearance with weird eyes). Because he was tall at such a young age he always hunched himself over, and now he carries himself that way. Looks like he has a hunch back. Probably about 6'5", but hunched over seem much shorter. Also, tends to not make eye contact with people due to his weird pupils. Usually wears gloves as well, as his finger and toenails are black and hardened

Grand Lodge

I'm currently unemployed, so I'm available from about 8am when my baby daugter wakes up, till about midnight, I'm in Brisbane Australia, which is GM+10. My charcters age is 25.

I've put some more thought into his background, here it is.

Background:
In the desert outpost of Kalam to be different was to be an outcast, with frequent gnoll raids every person in the town was expected to pull their own weight. Shala was a respected and pious man, the people came to him with their troubles he meditated deeply and then gave his advice, and even if it turned out for the worse his fellow men knew they had been given honest help.

His wife fell pregnant, and late in her childbearing months started to struggle. Some folk started whispers that it was a curse, but Shalas reputation held strong, and soon came the time for her to give birth.

The labour was long and hard, and drained what little life she had left in her, but the gods granted her one small gift and before she breathed her last she was able to hold her little baby boy. She wept softly and proclaimed, 'The gods have both blessed and cursed our home, my son, remember the blessings always.' and with that she died, never knowing how true her words were, for her son was born a cripple.

Years passed, and Mhykirs differences grew as he did, the color of his skin, his hair, his features all pointed to something not quite human, and the tightly knit townsfolk started to distance themselves from Shala, few people went to him for advice, his presence was tolerated in the markets, and he could be seen regularly praying at the temple.
He kept his son by him at all times, for he feared what would happen should he be found alone.

In his late teens he began to get visions, calling him away to do the gods bidding, but he ignored them, fearing to leave his father he clung to the life they had. His limp a constant reminder of the harshness of life. His visions promised him blessings if he would set out, but still he refused. He spoke not to his father of this, as his father was a devout man and would surely agree not to refuse the gods anything.

A year passed, and on the boys 20th birthday, a large gnoll raiding party attacked the town. Shala's house was on the outskirts, and even though they tolerated his presence, because of the boy no one came to his defence, and he was killed. Seeing his father cut down before him the boy turned and ran, a pathetic sight with his limp the gnolls didn't see him worth the effort killing. With no life behind him, he yelled at the heavens, 'Is this what you wanted? will you keep plagueing my life until I say yes? Then yes, I will do as you will, my fate truelly is not in my hands.'.

With that he began wondering, calling no land home, for 5 years he went from place to place, offering what services as he could, obeying any visions he received, until that fateful day he was shown a caravan setting out for a distant place...

I'm in Malaysia at GMT+8, and have access at work. So I can span a good number of hours on most weekdays. Weekends are family time so I will likely only get on in the evenings on them.

Age is 140 - very young by elven standards

For Shanosuke:
Yeah, when I saw desert expedition it pretty much screamed out for a mounted character.
Backstory for Mus'ad is that he is the lone surviving member of a tribe of elves that were wiped out by gnoll a few years ago. Only surviving members of the tribe were him and his camel (Al Gasreed). Since then he has been working as a Caravan Guard.
He has an arrogant facade, but that is also due to having no-one else to look out for him. His boyish features (as he is young for an elf) have lead to people not taking him seriously, so he has overcompensated for that.
I can drape some more hooks into the backstory, but some of that would be more fun to shape around the other characters (if I get in). So maybe the paladin reminds him of a principled uncle he had, etc.
Let me know if you want any more detail.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

SHanosuke:

Spoiler:
What sort of refinement are you looking for? I'm envisioning him as a bitter but slightly amused older elf, about to enter old age. He's conquered the world through his sword, but his lackluster morals lead the elves to curse him. At some level he understands why, but his journey will be about coming to power again and using it responsibly this time. He'll probably fit in, given that he recognizes the need for companions and the skills they bring. His conflict might lie in the fact that he's inclined to make himself the boss, no matter who else believes they are. I initially thought him up as a magus, and actually still might go that route... What do you think?

I'm in the US Central time zone. My posting time may vary, as I hope to start a new job soon. Wish me luck!

Greetings Shanosuke,

I am at work right now but would love very much to play in this game. I will apply as a Human Barbarian/Monk multiclass (Barbarian to start). I just love the idea of a raging pugilist. I will post an interview later this evening with a complete character mock up.

Here are stat rolls for now.
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13

Stats:

STR - 17
DEX - 14
CON - 14+2 = 16
INT - 13
WIS - 13
CHA - 13

You can also see some of my PBP work here. I am Lucas Tavington on this thread.

I am withdrawing. Best of luck to all!

Ok, My alias for this interview will be Arik Bryn. I actually decided on a dwarf barbarian who will eventually (if it make sense in the story) multiclass to monk. Here is his wealth roll: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Which is amusing because Barbarian is non lawful and Monk is lawful. Before I did mention that I do not hold classes to there alignments. So its fine for you to multi class a monk/barbarian mix. Also I looks at monks as martial artists not monks. So yeah I would allow that build.

Ok you all whom managed to bring out your characters more have definitely made this harder for me. That's ok, I love a challenge. So far it seems most of you will be able to post regularly and I will be able to use some of your back stories in game to an extent. Sorry to see some of you abandoning the quest but when life calls we all have to make sacrifices. Makes my job easier to be honest. This will be a fun campaign indeed.

For Rune:
If I take you it is because of your character's story about his father. And he is very unique. I want to know, if I pick you can I set up your father's history and small portion of your own?

I chose the combination only because you do not make use of alignment restrictions. I have always wanted to see the refined martial arts of the monk meet the raw emotional power of the barbarian. *Smiley Face*

ok good, for a second there I thought I had lost my Paladin option

This is Darksmokepuncher. I am on US pacific time but I can post at work and at home.

Here is Arik Bryn - Dwarf Barbarian/Monk. His stats and backstory are available if one but clicks on his name.

Arik scans the hectic camp.

A beggar I may be, shamed and destitute, yet I have some pride left. Pride, and a great love for my poor, misguided brother. Drugan, I will not fail you.

Arik makes boldly for the largest central tent, praying to the forge master that this Yalandere lays his tent as the Dwarven lords do. He pulls aside the flap and enters.
___________________

Yalandere glances up and cannot help but stare. Before him stands an obviously impoverished dwarf. His dark hair is trimmed close to his round head, but the disconcerting thing is that this dwarf sports no beard. A ragged mustache mars an otherwise balded face. Yalandere is pulled away from himself as the oddity begins to speak.

"Greetings lord. I am Arik Bryn and by your stare I see you are familiar with the customs of my people. Yes, the words catch in his throat, I am disgraced. I seek my lost brother. He is the eldest of my house and master of our hearth. He disappeared years ago on a quest to find Aridia. Without him, I have no being and no destiny. I beg you, Arik drops slowly to his knees. The very act seems hateful to him. allow me to join your sortie into the desert. In exchange, I vow you will have no one more earnest for your swift success than I. I am a skilled guide, earned from a long and shameful journey. Moreover, I have experience with the savage Orcs and I speak their guttural language.

Arik looks directly into Yalandere's face: tears filling his young, desperate eyes.
Take me with you master -he prostrates himself before the aged elf- and you may yet restore to life this grieving youth.

Arik dissolves in wracking sobs that convulse his body so hard that Yalandere can hear the young dwarf's spine cracking. After what seems like ages. Arik composes himself somewhat, stands straight and tall, and nods sharply. He exits the tent.

Yalandere, in all his years, had never seen such a sincere, noble beggar. His heart broke for the young dwarf and began running through his mental list of applicants, frantically scanning for names to strike. He then turns his mind to money. He tabulates how much the young man might cost to feed. He's not that big...He is certainly motivated...

Yalandere collapses into his chair, lost in thought.

Pavok is here to stay as a long as the DM deems it! hehe

Shanosuke: Sure, I've let the background history quite simple so we could shape it to our needs! I'll post a sheet in a couple minutes.

Hey how many people are you accepting? And also for the rest who may not be chosen would you all like to start a game of our own? I'm excited for this one. I'll post my character and rolls next.

Atlas Aquanis is a young and enthused wizard. He come from a simple family and life, but in school, his intellect did not go unnoticed and he was enrolled at the arcane university. Cryptology being his primary interest, our lad Atlas studied the ways of arcana and lore and is now ready to go work in the field. Thus enter and begin!

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14

"Afternoon sir. My name is Atlas Aquanis and pleased to meet your aquantence. If ye be in the business of finding lost lands, treasures, and other wonders, count me in. I graduated top tier at the arcane university, worked many appraisal projects, and many archeological digs. Please allow me to accompany you and I promise I won't dissapoint." Atlas hands him his card. It simmers a light and dark blue color. He leaves the floor open for questions.
If or when chosen I'll provide character sheet with additional info

Good luck everyone!

I forgot to roll for starting wealth. I've bought very little equipment, though, I don't think I'll overextend my budget. Also if you wouldn't mind, can I trade in longsword or rapier proficiency for scimitar? I actually don't plan on using it at all, just think it's slighty cooler.

3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4) = 9 times 10 gp = 90 gp

edit: Rolled and adjusted equipment. Also spoilered sheet.

Thanks Shanosuke.

Oh shoot! Sorry Lyric.

Okay. I’ve gone over your character’s with six other players in one of my groups. (This was an in person meeting.) We went over them for a good couple of hour and there were a couple of you that could use some refinement. I have picked a couple of you I want for sure. The rest are depending on a few minor details. I will make suggestions for each of you. I’m giving you until 6 o’ clock PM Saturday (Central) to make the necessary tweaks. Then I will submit my final judgement.

For Faznir Farin:
I like your character quite a bit, he is currently one of my top picks. His history works well with the campaign and his character is quite unique. The class is useful too so you’re in

Pavak Kor’tell:
Your back ground is interesting. I like the dark mystery your character carries and his added seriousness. I want to manipulate your background a bit. Particularly in the part of your abandonment, I can use that for something if it’s ok with you. If it’s ok then I defiantly want you in the caravan

Jen:
I’m trying to decide if I want your character or not. She’s creepy I’ll give her that. Her character sounds like an evil witch. Is she good or evil? I would also like you to give a compelling backstory if you could. This location is suppose to be far off the pathfinder map so feel free to get creative, make up cities, kings, and histories surrounding your area. I want to know what motivates this character so I can make use of her if she is selected. It needs to be compelling.

For Hethor:
You up there on my decision list, I loved your interview. Typical thief and robber. I’m still not sure if it is what I’m looking for though. If you get accepted, it is because I like your character for sure.

For Mhykir:
Holy crap. In a good way. This character is real deep. Full of flexible plot. I could use this character, the class makes it hard. Honestly I may double up. There are some things here I can work with. I’ll need to see what others do to improve so cross your fingers

For Lyric:
Your character is very unique, I like the personality. Is it possible for you manipulate your history into something I could possibly use? Or You could let me manipulate it? Mostly about who killed your parents and why. We could make it deeper than that. I could make something out of it and your character may never have known why? Would you mind? If so then your in.

Mus’ad:
Is there nothing more to your story? No compelling or motivational events or people that may have influence this trip into certain death? I like the character type and definitely love how you used the cavalier class. Very interesting. Think on it a bit. See if you can add some motivation.

For Ceylon:
After running your character by my friends, they pointed out some details about your interview. Even though you didn’t post a backstory, you did include a nice chunk of it in the interview. I could potentially work with that. You’re character is a bit intense though and most of my player didn’t like how much of a grumpy old man. Mathpro and I though it was unique and gave him depth. Not sure what more you can do though. I’ll see what I need once the others post. If there is anything you’d like to add or change tell me. I like having a history to work with and a diverse group of personalities.

For Arik:
Honestly, I don’t think a Barbarian/monk is what I am looking for this campaign. I do like the story though. Very touching. I’ll think on it a little more. Not much more work you can do on it though.

For Jivaji:
I like the story and the character. Thing is. I have a tough decision to make. You’ve flushed out your character’s motivation like I asked. Personally, there is another campaign I plan to start recruiting in about a week or two. I would like Jivaji better in that one. He’d fit better for sure. If and when I get it going, I could reserve a spot for you if you’d like, wont even make you write an interview again.

For Scranford:
Interesting character concept. Unfortunately I found enough magic users I like. I know your rolls were fairly limiting in your creation but there are others that are higher on my pick list. Thanks for applying, I really enjoyed your creativity. I look forward to continuing the Drow Wars with you though.

For Ord:
A desert druid is cool, but some of the other magic users are more favorable and your character’s personality is rather common. I’m sorry but I’m going to have to say no. I do appreciate your interest though. Take it easy.

For Atlas:

I'm sorry buddy, I closed the hiring early. You just missed it. I'm having a hard time deciding so I'm going to have to turn you down. Thanks for trying though. Remember, it never hurts to try. thanks again

Okay some of you I have chosen and some of you I have let go. Please understand that this is a hard decision and I hope that those of you who didn’t make it will check out a campaign I may start in a week or two called Mormont’s Gauntlet. (I want to get comfortable with GMing on Paizo first) Those of you I gave recommendations two have until 6pm on Saturday to make adjustments. I will be posting my final decisions then. Sorry to drag this out so long but some of you seem to have potential and I really want to see what you have to offer to the game experience. I won’t be able to even be on the Computer until 5 so just post what you can. Thank you again for your apps. Its been fun to go through the selection process but the best is yet to come.

Shanosuke:
I'm cool with that buddy. I will look forward to seeing what your ideas are and where you will take Pavok with this!

For Shanosuke:

If it helps, I plan to take the Monk of the Sacred Mountain and Monk of the Healing Hand archetypes. Arik will be a consummate defender of his allies, to the point of sacrificing himself -in so doing, he can ensure the caravan's success and restore some piece of his family's honor.

Moreover, I can post at all hours of the day and am somewhat obsessive about checking PBP games I participate in. 8)

I'll make it a bit easier on you and pull Mus'ad out of the running.

Thanks for the invitation to put something forward and wish all those that make it in well.

For Shanosuke:
I'm not entirely sure what you would have liked to see in the backstory.
My view on the character is that he's a lone mercenary making his way by selling his skills. I thought that there were enough hooks in the backstory to hang In Character elements off. My personal preference is to let the ongoing story itself flesh out the rough edges and move things along, which allows for a bit more flexibility in storytelling and to be more reactive to the rest of the party.
Clearly that's not what you're after, and you've got more than enough that will suit your purpose. Hope you have fun with it :)

Grand Lodge

For Shanosuke:
Thanks for the kind words :) I thought long and hard about class, and in the end I decided that to change anything was to make a new character, and I wanted to put the work into this one. Even if I don't get picked I'm happy that I've got a character sitting here all rearing to go ;)

Shanosuke,

I am very excited about the game and looking forward to it. I responded to some of your thoughts and threw up some other things below. I will get the complete character sheet up sometime this weekend. I like how thoughtful you have been throughout this process.

character image:
I decided this image fits my perception of my character better. I am going with the 15 year old younger thing. I do sort of wish the hair was a bit longer. I may get a friend to draw Lyric.[/spoiler

[spoiler=character background]The gambling debt actually wasn't what I really wanted to use as the reason for the attack on the parents. I didn't want to take too much liberty and didn't want to go on forever though. Based on what you told Jen above I feel better about my original idea.

Initially, I had wanted Lyric and his parents to live basically in hiding in a kingdom/area ruled by arcane casters that had outlawed the use of good and neutral divine magic all together and a powerful church of one of the evil gods or a collective of them managed the divine magic on their side very closely. The idea was basically that good divine magic and divine healing was punishable by death.

In this context an Aasimar born to a celestial blooded sorcerer and a cleric of Saranrae would be anathema and thought of as killable on sight. My idea was for the parents to hide their true nature while trying to do good in the local area and protect Lyric from being discovered as Aasimar. So my thinking was that it was the kingdom and the church that had his parents killed and were still trying to hunt him down.

ALL of that said, I would love for you to use the history above or modify/manipulate it anyway you would like to fit with your campaign.

character direction:
I am imagining Lyric being very opposed to killing anyone and avoiding it to the best of his ability. I am also considering maybe having him refuse to use sharp weapons preferring things like quarterstaffs and maces. If he ends up going a more melee way by virtue of his growth through the campaign I can see him becoming a Holy Vindicator eventually. Regardless healing and defensive buffing are going to be his primary focus.

I hope these initial thoughts help and again feel free to adjust the history however it fits your game well. Looking forward.
