Muroi moves to see where their next step should lie, and he sees that the open area to the east extends to another opening into the building a bit farther down.

Myantha cautiously steps out into the jungle and moves down to the north-east opening in the ruin, peeking her head around the corner to see what's inside.

The group follows Myantha around the outside of the temple to an entrance leading to a room previously blocked by rubble. She peeks around the corner to see a 20-foot-tall, high-relief sculpture of a mountain dominates the north end of this large chamber. A statue of a figure now missing its head sits in the lotus position at the mountain’s peak, while smaller statues of monkey-faced pilgrims rest on ledges farther down the mountain. Shattered pieces of yet more monkey statues litter the floor. From your vantage point, you are unable to see the southern end of the room.

"I imagine those monkeys must be the red-eyed creatures of which those loots spoke. We should be careful not to trip whatever trap caused them to animate... if there even is one." Lorelei quickly casts a spell to look for any magical auras in the area.
Detect magic.

GM DevilDoc |

Myantha can now see a half wall partition separating the southern half of the room and blocking any further view. There are two hallways on either side of the partition, leading back south.
Lorelei: nothing reacts from where you are standing.
as you move into the room, please take care to place your tokens. This is important.

The Baron stayed outside to wait for you. He doesn't have a dog in this fight, and only brought you out here as a reward for the number of favor points you acquired with him.
The companions bunch up in the entryway, unsure of entering. Muroi detects no magic from the statues.
Uthraed: there are no knowledge checks about the temple, so I really don't know what to tell you here. The monkey statues obviously refer to the temple deity, and you already know from the porters that the villagers worship monkeys as gods and have very peculiar notions regarding primates.

![]() |

"Ahhh, yes the monkey gods, We have a fantastic book about the history of these temples in my families library. I have read it dozens of times... Unfortunately none of it has any real relevance here," Uthraed says adding nothing of worth to the conversation.

GM DevilDoc |

So... are we going to hang out in the entry way or come inside and explore?

![]() |

Uthraed draws his scimitar and and gives it a few brusque strokes. "If you would like I can take point on this one, I have a thick armor and can shake off a few hits." Uthraed says with more confidence than he feels. "Don't get too far ahead and return to me if you see anything suspicious" He says realeasing his owl familiar into the ruins.
I have never played a wizard with a familiar before and am unsure of the mechanics but my idea is to have her scout slightly ahead of us.

GM DevilDoc |

I myself have only ever played one wizard, and she has an arcane bond instead of a familiar. However, my understanding is the the mechanics are very similar to an animal companion as far as scouting and such. The owl has its own speed, and the communication is dependent upon whatever spells/feats/abilities you have going.
Uthread and his owl courageously lead the way into the room, noticing nothing out of the ordinary.

GM DevilDoc |

Sorry for the late update. I had a migraine yesterday and was laid up, unable to do much of anything!
Muroi joins Uthread deeper in the room, but also notices nothing.

GM DevilDoc |

Uthraed moves to the far side of the room, and is able to see that the area to the south seems to be a stand alone area with a walkway all the way around it.

GM DevilDoc |

Come on guys.. this is the last room. Don't let the last room stall us out!

![]() |

"Follow me I'm a poor sod with this butchers blade and I'll need back up" Uthraed says to his fellow companions as he heads down the narrow corridor to investigate the rest room.

GM DevilDoc |

Uthraed: please check the discussion tab.
The team spreads out, moving around the enclosure to examine the hidden part of the room. Within, they find a large statue of a monkey-faced man sits on a pedestal at the north end of this small shrine. The statue’s arms and legs are missing, and deep scratches have been gouged into its face. Pieces of broken stone, rotting plant matter, and other assorted rubbish lie in heaps on the floor of this room. The smell of rot is particularly strong here.
Lorelei inspects the statue to the rear, but other than the fact that it is incredibly worn and has been badly defaced, she finds nothing special about it.

GM DevilDoc |

Lorelei: The jeweled tiles were put back in the last room, leaving the holy symbol which could have gone on either alter, and the golden apple, which could have been anywhere.
Uthraed: Go a head and pop the spoiler, you are good. The owl uses the empathic link to tell you what it found.
Muroi moves in and casts a spell looking for magic items, and under his influenced sight, the belt on the statue appears to be magical.

Uthraed removes the belt from the statue with no problem, then opens the cupboard. From here, he pulls out a richly illuminated book that appears to be a holy text, as well as a handwritten journal or diary. they are both extremely old, and are hard to decipher.
As the party stows these items and turns back for the exit, two small creatures appear on the shrine in the first room with an unholy shriek. They are tiny creatures with a body like that of a man, but with a frilled crown of horns.

Uthraed casts a spell as the creatures pop out of nowhere.
Then he draws his newly enhanced bow and fires an arrow at one of them. The arrow hits, but it does not do near the damage that Uthraed is accustomed to causing.
Muroi also moves in, casting a quick spell and sending a ray of frost at one. However, the ray comes nowhere close to striking its mark.
Lorelei then begins to shout encouragement to her allies, helping steady their hands.
