Damorisovitch
|
"Well, then, consider your datapad recovered, my friend." says Damorisovitch. [b]"By the way, what is your name, so that we know what to call you? I am Damorisovitch, favored of Damoritosh.
Marble Caprice
|
Marble returns an equally confused look to the Android. Luckily things seem to be moving in the direction they should amd she only needs to further introduce herself, "Marble Caprice, we shouldn't be long." She then pulls up information on how to get to the slums.
Damorisovitch
|
Damorisovitch walks with the team towards the slums, a small smile crossing his face.
Marble Caprice
|
Marble follows as well, though she does so distracted while looking up information on this Slums area.
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
| GM Woran |
Marble finds that the slums are mostly abandoned. Only the truely desperate live there. The whole area is contaminated with years of run off of industrial waste. Being there for a short while poses no harm, as long as you clean yourself thorougly afterwards. Prolonged exposure however poses severe health risks.
prolonged exposure in this case is weeks
You can all make a Bluff, Culture, Stealth, or Survival check to represent how your character would like to search/move trough the slums
Curious Honesty
|
Curious follows along, mostly in silence - as if not quite comfortable talking.
Once at the slums Curious will attempt to quietly look around.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Marble Caprice
|
Marble tries to fade from view and bring little notice to herself. She hopes that being hidden will aid her in observing a clue.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damorisovitch
|
culture: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damorisovitch walks through the slums, commenting about the lamentable lives of those who must live here. He suggests to all who will listen that the way out of their squalor would be to immediately enlist into their local defense forces, and to find honor in military service.
Slathalin
|
Without even apparently realizing it at first, Slathalin has gone into a 'stealthy predator' approach. Once he realizes this, he figures it is because he is anticipating danger. While he doesn't feel like that is the case, he trusts his subconscious and years of training.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
| GM Woran |
Going trough the slums, Marble and Slathalin keep to the shadows.
Curious tries to follow them, but is a lot less adept at remaining unseen.
Meanwhile Damorisovitch tries to gather some information, but his inquiries are met with only hostility.
With everyone being busy, Damorisovitch, Curious and Saffron are surprised when suddenly a ikeshti steps around a corner, flanked by two rough looking thugs.
"Your money, or your life. And dont try anything smart."
From the toothy lizard grin, its clear they mean to take both your money and your life.
Ive put everyone on the map except Slathalin and Marble. Their skill checks allow them to choose a starting position on the map (as long as its reasonable)

Saffron Alva
|
Saffron's eyes go wide as violence breaks out.
"What the f$@% is wrong with all of you? Wait, was that Akitonian I heard? Still, what the hell is going on?"
Panicked, Saffron fumbles for her pistol before deciding to just ray the lizard thing in the face.
Electric Energy Ray... TO THE FACE!: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Stunned at her shocking use of violence, Saffron retreats behind Damorisovitch.

Curious steps to the side and draws their hunting rifle, taking aim at the one in front.

Marble Caprice

Marble peeks over the railing and tries to read how hurt the Ikeshti is. Perhaps if they are only unconscious and not outright slain there would be a possibility to have some words.
Medicine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Saffron Alva
|
Saffron stares wide eyed at her hands. Throwing her hands up in exasperation Saffron starts pacing around talking to herself.
"I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS SHIT!" See the galaxy, they said. Study ancient languages, they said. Meet interesting aliens, they said. THEY DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT KILLING THEM!"
Damorisovitch
|
Damorisovitch wonders whether they just happened to be jumped by the very thugs that took the datapad. He pats down the Ikeshti, who was obviously the leader. To the others, he says, "You might as well starting emptying your pockets. Vill go easier for you if you do."
Saffron Alva

”Oh, now we’re just going to rob them? I guess I can add thuggery to the list of things they didn’t tell me about.”

Curious puts their weapon away then looks around.

Marble Caprice
|
Marble creeps down the stairs while keeping her pistol trained on the two surrendering thugs. Moving towards Saffron, "Self defense, could of happened in any city. It's alright, dear. Luckily this wasn't a moment when one of us were alone, you could think of it like Society saved you today."
She then turns to the thugs, "You work for them, but who do they work for? Eh? How do you all know each other?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
| GM Woran |
The thugs dilligently start throwing their items on the ground. (cestus battleglove, tactical semi-auto pistol with 9 small arm rounds, credstick (50 credits))
The Ikeshti is however dead, the electricity having caused a heart attack.
The Ikeshti carries lashunta ringwear I, hunting rifle with 12 longarm rounds, tactical pike, shock grenades I (2), datapad, credstick (80 credits).
The datapad has a red sticker.
Both thugs look at eachother sheepishly. "Look, ah, we were just trying to get by you know? Robbing people aint nice, but we gotta eat too. Was nothing personal, you know."
Damorisovitch
|
Damorisovitch looks down a the pile of stuff, and then to Saffron. "Is spoils of war. They try to rob us, they lose fight, they lose stuff. All fair, no?"
He looks back to the two thugs. "Damorisovitch take no offense. Was valiant struggle for supremacy, and you lost. You leave, and Damorisovitch think nothing more of it." he says, as if that explains everything.
Saffron Alva
|
Saffron stares at Marble and Damorisovitch, a look of horror mixed with ugly fascination.
"This... I don't know what this is, is dead! Self defense? Spoils of some dick measuring contest? The hell? This casual disregard for life is pretty f&%~ing disturbing."
Saffron emits a long sibilant sigh. Shaking her head, hands moving randomly, finally a look of resignation settles in.
"Fine. Can we go now, please?"
Damorisovitch
|
"Comrade Saffron, I do not understand your consternation." says Damorisovitch, a worried look on this face. "This is all part of Eternal Struggle. Is good. We teach lesson, they not prey on folk again, for fear of retaliation in kind.
"This is the way of things. We cannot rely on constables or others to come to our rescue, nor should we. It is through test of arms that we learn our strengths, and our weaknesses. It is only way to know the order of things."
| GM Woran |
Marble Caprice
|
"Alright, we're looking for someone or something related to the Verthani, let's look around."
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
Looking for something like a store or trash outside an apartment that is verthani themed or tech focused.
Marble Caprice
|
(sigh) That's all on me.
Marble picks up the datapad and dusts it off. "Well, this seems settled." After a moment she turns the device on.
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
(sigh) That's on me too.
Damorisovitch
|
"Ve do very good job, no?" asks the Vesk. "Ve bring ze datapad back to Lerecti, and he give us tablet. All be happy!"
He then notices the scowl on Saffron's face.
Curious Honesty
|
Curious looks to the device.
Do you need assistance with that?"
Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Marble Caprice
|
Marble peeks up through peoples arms at the datapad as they boot it up. "What do you think is on it? There's a moral argument here, betraying Lerecti's trust or unknowingly aiding a criminal. Does anyone have the Society Field Guide downloaded?"
Marble is in favor of hacking.
Damorisovitch
|
"Damorisovitch not interested what is on datapad." says Damorisovitch. "Damorisovitch and comrades make deal with criminal, knowing Lerecti is criminal, and now must abide by deal."
The vesk thinks for a moment, getting a rather pained look to his face. "However," he continues, slowly, "There was no provision in deal to not look at datapad, nor to leave the datapad in the same condition. However, it may have been implied. Damorisovitch knows he is not expert in such matters, and does not think that the Field Guide would help in this. It is typically silent on such edge conditions."
Saffron Alva
|
Saffron looks back and forth at her commrades. Slight bemusement betrays her attempt at being aloof.
I didn’t choose the thug life; the life chose me.
Shrugging her shoulders, Saffron sits down and digs out her computer. Wiggling her fingers, she wires the data pad to her machine. OK.... let’s see what tasty morsels you have inside.
Saffron will take 10 on her computer check at first; if this isn’t enough can I take 20, or will I need to roll? If I need to roll:
Computer Hacking!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 plus whatever bonus, if any, my tier 1 computer gives me
| GM Woran |
Hacking into the tablet, Saffron finds some sort of diary.
Lerecti recently fled to Aballon from their home on Verces. A verthani club owner named Karelite Bogdin framed Lerecti for murder after the android uncovered an illegal android trafficking ring that Bogdin was running. In their flight, Lerecti stole part of a sandstone tablet from Bogdin in the hopes it could help them bargain. Seeking a fair trial, they fled to the anacite-governed world of Aballon. Worried that someone might be tailing them, Lerecti gave a few key pieces of evidence to several Aballonian friends, hoping the information could act as insurance if Bogdin sent pursuers.
One of Lerecti’s entrusted friends, a human woman named Maxia, drank a little too much one night and revealed a key piece of video footage that showed Lerecti working when the murder took place. Word of the information spread and some of Bogdin’s thugs promptly stole the evidence. Since then, the rumors being spread by Bogdin’s associates have painted Lerecti in an increasingly untrue and grim light.
Saffron Alva
|
"So I suppose we could help Lerecti with their problem? Part of the whole Great Struggle, right? I mean, I really do not like people who make coin off selling others, so I'm inclined to help."
Saffron makes a copy of the datapad for safe storage.
