Round III Recap

Hoosible stabs at Terisha, piercing her shoulder ever so slightly and causing a small zap of electricity due to Taranna's hex.

Meanwhile Strawflower advances into the mist and tries to maul her with tooth and claw...but the rat nimbly avoids the undead cat.

"Damnit," Radyx says as the goop binds him to the top of the crate. He uses his weapons to cut each of his feet free, then moves closer to his quarry. "Nice try, c*&~s. But it's gonna take more than that to stop the Champ."

Alexin let's loose with his most powerful hex on Karisa, one that can change fate itself. No longer pressed by poison or the need to move, Alexin lets his madness take over, and begins to giggle incessantly, the unnerving sound strengthening his hexes. However, he finds that Karisa was able to resist his hex and her luck has unchanged.

Remiandiv brings his arm up to protect his eyes from the flash but it does no good. Doing his best to position himself with his back to his allies and facing the enemy blockade, he moves his arms into a guard position and strains to use his other senses to identify threats.

Both Tarrana and Valko, blinded just as Remi is, hold up their arms in defensive positions as well since they can’t see. In addition, Valko stops coughing and appears to have resisted the poison’s effects.

”Flank the tiger! Kill the damn thing before it mangles another one!” Terisha can be heard yelling during the combat as the girls begin to maneuver around Hoosible’s undead tiger.

One of the girls runs past Charbonardent, gracefully avoiding his clumsy blows and gets in beneath Hoosible’s longspear and bites at Strawflower, taking a chunk from the undead tiger’s flesh. ”Ugh, crap that tastes horrible.”

On the other side of Strawflower, Terisha and one of her cronies both attack the tiger with sword an fang as well, but neither are able to deal any damage.

The two girls near Radyx, meanwhile, both slash and bite at him before stepping away from the angry, gooped-up gladiator. Their shortswords cut deep into his flesh and he growls in anger.

”Hah! How you like that you son’s of b#~!+es!” Karisa continues her onslaught and draws yet another pouch of powder, which she flings at Remi. The pouch bursts open and explodes into a flash of bright light, but this time fails to blind Remi, who had blinked at just the right moment. Tarrana, Valko, and Alexin, however, are not so lucky.

As a followup to her flash powder, Karisa draws and chucks another flask of acid, which goes wide and lands at Remi’s feet, splashing him with acid again.

"Got it!" Ferit replies to the gladiator. He hops down from the crate nimble as a monkey, and whacks the tower girl in front of him with burly two handed swing. Her head splatters across the room onto her sister tower girls standing next to Terisha. Despite being heavily wounded, the savage orc shows no signs of slowing down. "Which one of you rat-c@%+s is next?" he asks the nearby clump of wererats.

Meanwhile Hoosible tries to stab another of the girls but in the chaos of attacking from tiger-back his spear doesn't even come close.

With a burst of speed the drow charges forward and jumps, attempting to cross the field of caltrops and land on the barricade right in front of Karisa. Another shuriken is in his hand as he flies through the air, launching it at her and trusting his enchantment will protect him from retribution.

Valko reels back down the hallway that brought them here, unwilling to find himself ended by an angry hive of rats due to the antics of another. He presses his back to a wall and slides carefully away from the fighting, looking for solid cover from any future projectiles.

Not that he's any use in a fight to begin with, but blinded on top of cover/shooting into melee/whatever else doesn't add up to much to contribute atm.


If you move back into the hallway, you have to go back through the poison cloud, Valko. Just sayin'.

”This isn’t going as well as planned. Lerrisien, go get the rats! We need backup!” Terisha yells as she stabs Strawflower with her blade. The tower girl next to her does the same, while the one behind them, nearest Radyx and Ferit, takes off running out of the fog cloud and down the hallway, sword and crossbow in hand.

Meanwhile, the girl held within Strawflower’s jaws squirms and squeals as she tries to free herself from the undead tiger’s maw, but fails to do so.

”Agh, f&~$ it! This one’s got silver!” Karisa swears in anger as Remi’s silvered shuriken imbeds itself into her flesh. She steps away from the drow and rapidly throws a pair of acid flasks at him. However, she misses with both; one of them lands behind Remi, splashing his back with acid, while the other lands between the two, splashing them both with it. ”Ow! Ow ow it burns!”

Note Crusty, I'd considered grappling in chat...but decided not to precisely to keep Strawflower's AC a bit higher (and since I realized it wouldn't stop them from flanking). Note that I don't mention a grab in my post. Based on that I think (1) Terisha & #4 just barely missed, but (2) #5 would've gotten another attack, and if we use her escape artist roll then she'd have hit. If we give her #4's damage roll, that would mean Strawflower took a total of 6 damage this past round. Let me know what you think.

Ferit moves over to the next tower girl, this time getting a flank with Strawflower. He giggles as he lines up his mace with the distracted rat woman's head and swings it with all his strength.

Charbonardent roars in impotent frustration, as the skeleton tiger grabs his kill. He swings again at the grappled tower girl, but misses.

As one of the tower girls attempts to flee, Ferit, Radyx, and Strawflower all swing at the woman; only Radyx lands an attack, however, and he sends the nearly-unconscious woman sprawling across the floor with a slam to his shield. She doesn’t get up.

Terisha, meanwhile, uses her ally’s failed escape to her advantage and begins to flee the scene. ”Retreat! Regroup with Ayala!”, she yells as she runs down the southern hallway.

Karisa, not quite willing to give up so soon, dodges past Remi and Tarrana and pulls out a flask of acid and chucks it at Remi, hitting him in the chest with the acid and splashing Tarrana with it as well. ”Yeah, yeah I gotcha, but its a little more difficult for me Ter!”

down to only 2hp? how the heck did that happen?

The pain of the acid burns spark a memory in Remi, of a warrior named Valas who had fought beside him on his first surface raid. Valas had taken several small wounds, none of major consequence on its own, but refused to leave the front line and battled on. When the next blow he received gut him completely the patrol's priestess did not even cast a single spell. "Can't cure stupid." she had said.

Refusing to let that happen to him Remiandiv backs away from the combat and grabs his cestus before putting his arms up in a defensive posture, planning to wait out the rest of the battle at a safe distance.

With the fire searing her flesh as his blade impales her, he finds his caltrop wound healing by the grace of the fire god’s blessing.

When Terisha turned tail, Hoosible pats Strawflower on her dessicated rump, sending her off on a chase. The zombie tiger catches up with her in a blur and snaps Terisha up in her jaws, crushing her unconscious.

Meanwhile the pallid gnome holds on tightly with a pleased-as-punch look on his face. "Wheeee!!"

And with that, the Tower Girls’ ambush is crushed.

Combat Finished!


Although combat is finished, you guys do note that one of the tower girls got away, running down the eastern corridor. She's the one Terisha had commanded to go fetch the rats, although she has not returned. No other girl escaped your wrath.

In addition, Char, coup-de-gracing Karisa since she was down before his action, has healed 1 point of damage and thus his caltrop wound is gone.

Terisha can be taken alive still, as she's at -1 hp and bleeding out, although Hoosible will need to command Strawflower to let her go, else the tiger will crush her to death.

Charbonardent has no containment of his rage. Everyone even Radyx wants to give the giant more space. After a couple dozen seconds, the flames enveloping his greatsword extinguish, which effectively snaps him out of it.

If Hoosible approaches within 15 feet with his dire tiger, because the giant won't shout, Charbonardent offers to repair the skeleton tiger acknowledging its effectiveness in battle.

Char has 4x1d6 Fervor negative healing. Cheers.

She finally would have failed a save. AND SHE DIES. Oh cruel fate.

Basically unharmed after the fight, Alexin uses one of his many scarves to drag caltrops out of the way, clearing a path through them. He grabs a few of them and stuffs them into one of the pockets on his pocketed scarf.

He then picks up his spear and makes his way over to the woman that had nearly evaded them, and spits on her unconscious face when he arrives. "Didn't get too far this time, did ya you rat tailed cunny?"

"Boys, boys, boys. How about you get those wounds healed up before we go chase death some more?" Alexin asks in a mocking tone. "I don't want to lug your ugly corpses out of this rat infested pile." Though he does his best to sound as though he's taunting his two new companions, an undertone of something else, perhaps fear, an old trauma resurfacing, or, even more strange, actual concern.

Remiandiv barely contains his own laughter. Scary times with the giggling idiot is the voice of reason.

The drow makes his way over to Karisa's fallen form. "What other fun ammo are you carrying?" With a few mumbled arcane words his eyes begin to glow again as he quickly searches the woman.

Cast Detect Magic, but primary goal is to see if she has any more of those flasks or grenades he can steal to use later.

The pale dry gnome starts to reply in a matter-of-fact tone, "Oh, Strawflower can lug any corpses, and I'll make sure they don't go to waste--"

Then with a startled expression he shifts gears and says, "But you're right of course. Healing first would be wise."

With that, Hoosible has Strawflower lope over to Ferit (with Terisha still dangling limp from his jaws). The creepy gnome leans down and zaps the orc with infernal energies, causing his wounds to grow shadowy and then dissolve.

"By the way, Terisha is likely still alive, if anyone wants to talk to her. The Wendo animating Strawflower here doesn't really need to eat, and perhaps we have questions to ask of her."
