This introduction to the characters could serve as a Golarion Lore 101 class! Ha!

Digging up fey lore in order to create Taeo took more time than I'd anticipated...and it's been a lot of fun. Golarion is a really rich world (and the apocalyptic layer you've laid on top makes it even more so)!

Robert, do you care to have canonical "proxy languages" for various languages we might end up using in this campaign? I figure Aklo, Sylvan, Celestial, Abyssal, Infernal, and the various elemental languages may come up more often once we start summoning things. (I used Greek for Aklo this time around).

I've established a few in Reign of Winter and -- I believe Jelani can correct me if I miss any -- they are:

Sylvan - Irish
Infernal - Gujarati
Celestial - Tamil
Tian - Traditional Chinese
Minkan - Japanese
Taldan (Common) - English

Aquan came up too, but I forget what Jelani used for it.

Oh, and Russian (or at least the cyrillic alphabet) has been used for Thassilonian.

I've been using Arabic for Kelish, but I haven't the foggiest about how to do Ignan.

Arabic for Kelish makes lots of sense.

I honestly don't remember the name of the language I used for aquan, Kannada maybe? It had lots of round looking characters in it.

Yeah, that one. I'm not even sure where Kannada is from, but from the look of it I'm guessing the Indian subcontinent or its neighbors.

I usually use Gujarati for abyssal because it's all pointy.

To me, infernal should have cyrillic script. Maybe ukrainian?

Edit:That's probably just my American associations of the USSR with hellish bureaucracy talking though :P

I'm trying to portray Alyona as haughty, but also charismatic. I'm not sure if I'm quite pulling it off. She's obviously not used to life outside the palace yet.

Anyway, it's all in character. Just to be clear, I got no beef.

So how long until we actually get to the College of Shadows? Just asking.

Alyona, brilliant post! I was looking forward to seeing how she'd respond to the question, given her recent past. The internal dialog around Shenua's comment is great too.

Sorry for only getting in a short post today, I probably won't get much tomorrow - a friend and I are completely redoing the floors in a room and it's monopolising more time than expected.

So how long until we actually get to the College of Shadows? Just asking.

I plan on getting you to the outskirts of the college this weekend. I want to make sure I gave everyone ample time to RP between one-another and establish some connections and help establish Hokuto and Ilesea. There'll be some events that take place prior to actually getting into the college. I don't expect you'll actually be in Akrabahadran until the end of next week at the earliest.

FYI, I could see Taeo having darkvision or low-light. RAW, an Aasimar has the former. Since I was using Aasimar as a proxy for fey-touched and the Fey template grants low-light, I could see doing the latter instead.

Robert, just let me know which you'd prefer Taeo having.

Whichever works for you. Darkvision is "worth" more, so stepping down to low-light for flavor reasons is fine by me.

Yeah, let's go with the (not quite as powerful but more fey) lowlight vision. Does that change his experience of the trip under the darklights?

Yeah, he'd be able to see the blue light they shed when they're otherwise in darkness and also see through the fog (up to 30 feet).

VERY loosely related to Taeo, but my 19 month old daughter has a very characteristic laugh. My wife and I decided it sounds like a gremlin-pony's (mischievous) whinny...so perhaps I have a fey-touched child as well. I'll have to keep an eye open for nuglubs with burlap sacks. ;-)

I'm enjoying this game for sure. I'm glad at least one of us has survival.

I have midterms in a week and a half and so want to let everyone know what my personal situation is. I'm a 2nd year medical student in my last semester in the Caribbean before moving on to clinical rotations. Every one of my tests is do or die with five years and $200,000 at stake, not counting my future career. I'm not looking for special treatment or anything, just want everyone to be aware of the stakes for me.

I'm having trouble keeping up with the massive number of roleplaying posts on the other board (30 since I checked it yesterday). I can easily write one post a day or more. I can't easily read all of the posts and then write one post a day or more.

I skimmed the posts and will write something once Shen Hua has something she wants to say or do. As I've not read the whole conversation, I don't know where to jump in regards the chit chat, so I'm sorry.

Shen Hua is behind Alanar and will toss in an "ooo" or an "ahhhh" when appropriate. Once things settle down, I'll try to catch up.

My sincerest apologies for the disappointment. I'm going to do the best I can to keep up.

I'm going to assume most outfits come with underpants, because I'm sure everyone would be more uncomfortable with a completely naked Alanar rather than a nearly naked Alanar.

If you need rope, and don't have it, trying to make some is the next best step.

Newbie question: How do you know the result of your roll before writing your post to respond to it properly?

EDIT: Newbie question 2: How do you do that thing with the cool fonts to represent other languages? I like my blend of actual native american words and phonemic gibberish, but cool fonts are cool.

Use "preview" instead of "post" and you'll see how your formatting/rolls come out. Mind you that even if you delete the rolls from your post, the forum *remembers* them. So the next rolls you make will be those results (on that type of die.)

For languages I copy/paste results from Google Translate.

Also, "Before we risk our lives on a pants rope" may be one of my favorite quotes so far.

You can remake the Perception check with a +2 bonus for favorable conditions of Alyona pointing it out. You can also take a 10 or a 20 on this check as there is no penalty for failure and you are not rushed.

Note; taking a 20 takes 2 minutes.

Nope that's fine and dandy. As long as I can tell what you're doing, that works. Try to use the [ ooc ] tags for actions so I can easily spot them at the bottom of posts. The color difference helps. Not a big deal with this one, of course.

Shen Hua is completely uploaded into her profile. I've included her stats so that they show on this page and included all of the information from her packet including the explanation of her card, her recent history, her personality and her harrow reading upon reaching Garund. I thought I'd include the last four in case you ever need a name from her background and want to access it from work.

Ahaha, whoops. Sorry about that; took me awhile to pick one I halfway liked. Might go looking through again and see if I can pick a better one later, but this will do for now, I guess. It's hard to find the kind of grin I imagine as being one of Erik's prime features...

Anyway, I also wanted to say that I'm having a blast with this so far! We've got an awesome cast here; I'm looking forward to seeing where our merry band goes, and how we all get there. :)
