I tried a few ways of adding coordinates to this map, but with all the layers it takes to reveal/unreveal portions of the map it didn't work out. Let's try just declaring movement for now and see how it works.
Example:
Move Action: 15 feet - 1s, 2e
That'd move you three squares (15 feet) one square south and two squares east. Again, presuming the map is oriented with "up" as north. If you have any questions, just ask.

I am of the opinion that running away is always an option, just so people know. No shame in our group fleeing a bunch of terrible spiders...
Then again, pretty and shiny gold things. Not that matters to Alanar at the moment until Ilesea is safe, but think of the things he could make!

Maptool is free software that does lighting very well. It's available at rptools.net. You'd need to import your map image as a new map, and then add visual line blocking and turn on vision. I use it in my Carrion Crown game to make 6 mini maps every update when they are in a dungeon (just takes clicking on the icon and then hitting export six times), one for each character so they can only see what their character sees. Makes fights in the dark much more interesting/realistic.

So we get AOOs when they enter our squares to attack, yes? If I take an unarmed strike on one, I won't provoke since it doesn't have reach right? Do unarmed stikes take the -4 non-proficiency penalty if you don't have Improved Unarmed Strike?
You will get AoOs when they enter your square to attack since they have no reach, yes. As far as I know unarmed strikes (even without improved unarmed strike) do not suffer non proficiency penalties. However, you are not considered *armed* without improved unarmed strike, and thus do not get to make attacks of opportunity unarmed. You can still ready an action and attack, however.

Since some people have effectively injured the skull spiders and you've started to get a sense of how they fight, I've put the Skull Spider's basic statistics (AC, Saves, CMD) in the campaign info tab in the marked spoiler. Feel free to use this to determine success of your attack rolls.
I don't notmally do this, but Jelani does in his campaigns and it tends to speed things up, so I'll see how it goes!

Alanar the Firehearted |
In retrospect, perhaps we should have invested in using Stealth checks in the first place to avoid drawing the attention of these little beasties. But hindsight's 20/20.
Alanar probably shouldn't have kept heading off like he did, but seeing as his only other option there was to sit on his thumbs and wait, the flighty ifrit offered his opinion and then acted upon it. Hopefully he doesn't get too far away.

Boy, I hope people catch up with Alanar quickly now - he's moving at half speed to keep his stealth, so if people go after him as soon as possible, they'll reach him. Otherwise, he's going to stupidly forge ahead alone.
It's really a dilemma when you know your character will do the dumb thing when you as the player know its a terrible idea.

Rogath Silvertarn |
Ah, yes yes. I feel that should probably be a thing, shouldn't it?
I've established a few in Reign of Winter and -- I believe Jelani can correct me if I miss any -- they are:
Sylvan - Irish
Infernal - Gujarati
Celestial - Tamil
Tian - Traditional Chinese
Minkan - Japanese
Taldan (Common) - EnglishAquan came up too, but I forget what Jelani used for it.
Just wanted to come by and drop this link here, since the quoted post was the main source of content for it. If you've used any other languages since, just let me know and I'll add them. Enjoy!

Rogarth, thanks for getting them onto the wiki. Is there an equivalent of Google Translate for the Dwarven/Dragon language? While I'm not playing any speakers of Dwarven in either of the Ruins campaigns I'm in, I'd hope to only use ones that can be auto-translated.
Russian (or at least the cyrillic alphabet) has been used for Thassilonian
I usually use Gujarati for abyssal because it's all pointy.
To me, infernal should have cyrillic script. Maybe ukrainian?
Edit:That's probably just my American associations of the USSR with hellish bureaucracy talking though :P
In this game I've also used:
* Aklo - GreekIn Crusty's Ruins game I've used:
* Polyglot - Swahili
* Druidic - Welsh (haven't used yet, but planning to)

A huge thanks to Rogath (from my Quest for Arcadia campaign) for working on the wiki while I've been so busy. In two weeks I have a full week off from work and plan on doing a lot of wiki work both there and on the wiki for my home game.
Shenhua |
I finished my fourth of five midterms today. Next one is Wednesday. I'll check in every day and post if needed.
Shen Hua is pretty much a geisha. All this fighting is beyond her so she's just trying to keep up.
