Female Halfling Rogue 3

Norn will sit the main tournament out since mainly so she can keep a better eye on Araevin but she will keep a hold of her chips so she wont bhe thrown out.

The boards have eaten this twice. Let's see if it works this time.

Araevin doubles his stake on each of those bets. Mel does nearly as well, double his stake on each game until the final one, where he loses half of it.

Nelrem, novice gambler as he is, loses his stake.

After a few more games, a woman at the next table conspicuously drops a handful of chips, which seems to draw the attention of several nearby, heavily built men. Soon after, a blindingly bright light begins blooms from the back of the room.

Mel and Norn were paying enough attention to act in the surprise round.

Everyone, please roll initiative.

The flash of light rapidly turns blindingly bright. Will saves, please. Spellcasters are also welcome to make a spellcraft check to identify the effect.

The woman at the next table (the one who dropped her chips) raises her voice, "All right, folks! Drop to the ground and don’t try anything stupid and we might let you live!"

V, you have initiative.

Watching the others at the table begin to stand and involve themselves in the unfolding drama Araevin thinks, Apparently I chose poorly in selecting this table. Leaning back toward Norn, "This doesn't involve us, just stay seated and allow the bouncers and these upstanding citizens to solve this little dilemma. No reason to complicate matters any more than they already are." He slips some spell components from his pouch underneath the table.....just in case...

Mel, your bonus from trying to shut your eyes means that you just barely pass.

Nelrem, you're blinded by the sudden, overwhelmingly bright light.

Everyone else makes the save. (The majority of the NPCs, however, aren't so lucky.) The crowd begins to get a bit crazy, the majority dropping to the ground, either following commands or clutching their faces (or both). A few begin wailing that they're blind.

Unfortunately, Norn and Araevin are unable to identify the effect that generated the light.

V and Mel stand up, talking down the thugs, who were clearly not expecting there to be much resistance at all, let alone so determined.

The thugs, instead of dealing with V and Mel's swords, head toward their target, shoving through the crowd toward the chest containing the night's grand prize. A bouncer who attempts to interpose himself goes down under a pummeling from their billyclubs.

A robed figure also makes haste toward the chest. (He's coming from the rear of the room, from the direction of the flare.)

Araevin pulls back, reaching into his spell pouch. Would you like to ready an action or delay your initiative? Or are you just passing your turn?

Araevin has initiative, followed by Norn.

under his breath, "Maeshi sare iasha charasi." Norn is pretty sure that Araevin just cursed in Elven. "Unfortunately, it looks like we may need to intervene Norn as they are trying to abscond with what soon would be most likely ours. This would be an unnecessary setback to our plans." Araevin will stand and move himself to within 15' of the chest if he can. If someone approaches him threateningly they get Charm Personed.

"Holy Calistrias silky paps" mutters Mel as the thugs decide to avoid him and the dangerous looking redhead "Some people haven't the sense they were born with"

Female Halfling Rogue 3

Norn lets out a sigh as everything seems to go out the window very quickly Moving to back up Arevin. If possible she will cast Entangle to surround the chest If not she will simply draw her sickle and stand next to him

Not sure if entangle actually needs plants in the area for it to work or not

Female (posing as male) Human Swashbuckler Rogue 2 (favoured class)/Urban Ranger 2

Well RAW say it affects plants in a 40 foot radius...so I guess you have to have them in the area of effect to begin with

Vengeance is up again...

Unfortunately, Norn, you can't cast Entangle here. Not enough plants (And it would entangle the bouncers and innocent NPCs to boot.) Would you like to take a different action?

Battlemap is now available at this link.

Due to the presence of NPCs and furniture not shown on the map, treat all spaces as difficult terrain.

I'll take a ready action to smack anyone that try's to attack Averin

Female (posing as male) Human Swashbuckler Rogue 2 (favoured class)/Urban Ranger 2

Mel moves diagonally to her right(2 squares) and engages the thief adjacent to her as she attempts to close with the woman

Male Elf Level 1 Wizard

Seeing an opportunity to undermine this whole operation Araevin quickly calculates the best course of action and moves to position himself directly North of the square Melissa just vacated. He utters the arcane words "Prismal Vilis" and unleashes a torrent of flashing colors and whirling patterns on the unsuspecting group of thieves.

Basically he moves 2 squares to the East and then one square Northeast and then hits that group of 5 badguys with Color Spray. Those are badguys right?

Male Elf Level 1 Wizard

Forgot to mention ealier that he uses his arcane duelist ability to up the DC on the Color Spray (Will DC 16 to save)

The woman who had dropped her chips raises a hand, and with a flick of her fingers leaves the nearest bouncer looking confused. Araevin, you recognize it as a daze spell..

Nelrem is up, though blind, followed by Vengence. (Mel and Araevin, I have your actions, and I'll use them as your initiatives come up, unless you provide new directions.)

Liberty's Edge

Crackling my knuckles as I stand to my full height, I try my best to get a bearing on where the person who blinded me came from, or where I last saw one of the "bad guys."

I use Detect Evil to try and narrow that down as well, this round I need to focus on that power, next round I should get a better bearing on where they are if evil is in fact detected from anyof them.

Common: "I spent the better part of the last century in darkness, who would dare to remind me of such pain? Shall I begin to teach you all the meaning?"

Female (posing as male) Human Swashbuckler Rogue 2 (favoured class)/Urban Ranger 2

I think you mean the last decade oh Mighty Paladin..unless you want to be venerable...giggle

Mel weighs up his choices as he moves. Try for a disarm or reduce the odds. In the end pragmatism wins out and he lunges for the thug.

1d20+3=23, 1d6=2

Ohhh a critical...not bad for a first strike

Confirmation..1d20+3=18, 1d6=4

The man turns awkwardly at the last moment causing the strike that was aimed at his shoulder to pass cleanly through his body.

Mel curses mentally as he recovers and the bright blood gushes.

Mel: Grrr, I hate typos like that. Too late to fix, but you are correct.

Female (posing as male) Human Swashbuckler Rogue 2 (favoured class)/Urban Ranger 2

Ross please make all rolls for this character in future as it appears that my integrity is being questioned.

Nelrem, your impression from Detect Evil is just as it is when you attempted it earlier, unfortunately.

Vengence storms off around the band of thugs, going for the woman who shouted the demands. "I told you not to do anything stupid!" She takes a swipe at the woman with the pommel of her sword, but the swing goes wide.

The robed man vaults himself up onto the platform witht he chest, alongside the dazed bouncer, a scroll in hand. A brief shout, and the chest seems to vanish. Araevin, you note that he cast shrink item from a scroll. Meanwhile, Mel rushes the goons, brutally eviscerating one with her blade. Seeing their friend's guts and blood spilled across the floor seems to halt the rush of the thugs toward the chest. Instead, they turn on Mel: dropping their billyclubs to draw daggers. Ouch, Mel, you take a total of 16 points of damage from the thugs who now flank you. Per the Death and Dying rules, you're currently at 0 HP and disabled.

Fortunately, Araevin resorts to magic, shouting "Prismal Vilis", bomarding the thugs (and Mel as well) with vibrant colors. Mel and one of the flanking thugs go down twitching. The other two rolled a 19 and 20 one their will saves.

Norn, you're up again.

Battlemap updated.

Sovereign Court

Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant

excuse me Ross but you placed Mel in exactly the square she was not heading for..she moved two squares DIAGONALLY from her original position which should put her in the square behind Vengeance . I suggest in future that you provide us with a grid so we can reference where exactly we are going that will serve to stop confusion like this happening. However I will take my knocks like a good girl and lie unconcious on the floor

Male Elf Level 1 Wizard

Upon noticing the shrunken chest Araevin intones, "Shivae Capniomo." Casting charm person on the mage and says, "You stop the bouncers and troublemakers I'll keep the chest safe." Araevin will move next to the (hopefully now) charmed enemy mage and chest.

Where the heck did my weekend go?

Norn rushes forward to distract the thugs who assaulted Mel. Her strikes, however, fail to connect.

The woman Vengence attacked draws her own sword and strikes back. The rapier strikes home, leaving a shallow cut across V's skin. After armor, V takes 1 point of damage.

Nelrem, do you take any actions this turn, or do you just continue to concentrate?

After Nelrem, V is up again.

Female Halfling Rogue 3

Gah cant believe I missed this so ill just do my char action for the next round now

After failing to even hit the thugs Norn decides the her best idea is to get the fellow that just got beat down back into the fight trying to avoid exposing herself to much she calls upon the powers of nature to heal the man's wounds

Cast cure light wounds on Mel taking a five foot step if possible to avoid attacks of opportunity from the thugs If she cant do that let me know and ill have her cast defensively

Cure light wounds (1 d8 +1=5)

Unless it wears off, I will not be taking offensive actions due to being blind, I don't want to hurt anyone. So I will continue to concentrate in the hopes of getting lucky.

At this rate we'll finish this fight around about December...2012. Ross ~I think we can take it that Kayos has forgotten about this game..in fact it seems like everyone has forgotten about this game

You're right. The game needs more attention and a bit of a faster pace. More in the discussion thread.
