Didn't I tell you? My pale Chelaxian features are just makeup! We are playing Second Darkness, right? Oh, my bad, wrong AP... ;)

I could be part Drow!... maybe?

Also - we never split up these:
The wooden wand of acid splash (37).(of course) [Taras?]
The obsidian wand of magic missile (1st - 23). [Taras?]
The crystal vial of silversheen. [Verronax?]
The glass tube of oil of keen edge. [Karista?]
I had assumed Taras was given the wands back at the temple of Abadar. Sorry if that wasn't the way things went. o.O

Ross, I'm thinking of taking a level of Fighter for Verronax, but I have a question about weapon groups. I'll get two new weapon groups as a fighter - can I choose the Exotic group as one of those, or do I need to spend a feat to get access to exotics?
From the original game invite post "You cannot take Exotic Weapon Groups with class proficiencies." (No Bastard sword for poor me).
Majuba wrote:By the way Ross - the Queen passed to us "the silver coffer". That wasn't mentioned before.I thought I did.
Edit: Ah. I did. In my post from the 18th, it's in her lap.
Ah - so that's our "reward"?

Finished update (except for hit points and reserve points (do I get those automatically like hp, or will they "heal" in over time?)).
New feat: Scorpion Style - standard action to do unarmed strike attack, if hits DC 14 Fortitude or target is reduced to 5' move - normal damage.
Converted skills to ranks from the "Expert/Trained/Untrained" halfway system we had used - no new skills since I wanted to actually preserve the difference between Expert and Trained that I had at first level (Expert now 2 ranks, Trained now 1 rank).
Evasion now - that's about it.
Note: Monks no longer have any multiclassing restrictions, per Beta and Jason Buhlman confirmation.

Indeed. Ex, can you ping Jack, if possible, and see if he'll ever really be returning to the Paizo boards? Otherwise, we'll have to hunt for a new player for the barbarian.
I don't think he'll be back, real life has gotten hectic for him. He's got a lot on his plate between school, work, and future planning.

Basically, there are 2 specific spells I want to prepare: one that will bless everyone for 2 hours, and another one to use to question Vancaskerkin and get the truth. It's up to y'all if you think those will be useful enough to wait until the morning for the raid.
Ah, I was thinking the Zelazny may have been able to drop a spell without loosing its potential. I found the relevant text.
A spellcaster can discard an unwanted spell to make room for a new one. However, spell points spent on the discarded spell are not refunded. Discarding a prepared spell is a standard action. If a spellcaster attempts to prepare a new spell when he already has the maximum number of spells prepared, he automatically discards prepared spells, chosen at random, until he is within his limit of prepared spells. This can result in the loss of the newly prepared spell. For this reason, most spellcasters spend the standard action to discard a spell of their choice before attempting to prepare additional spells.
So looks like you'd lose the spell points associated with any spells dropped.
Though... Ross - could V retro-swap the bless for the Abadar long bless spell that just came out? Then it'd just be one spell point lost to prep the other.

I'll allow him to retroactively swap it if its the same level and it's a spell that he logically would have prepared if we knew it existed. Which book is the new spell from?
Edit: Nevermind. Abadar got two spells in Gods & Magic. Yes, Verronax can swap in Blessing of the Watch for Bless.
Majuba
I also wanted to prepare Abadar's Truthtelling to use while questioning Vancaskerkin - not sure if it's in Gods & Magic, but it's in the PF Abadar article. But I don't think V would have prepared that beforehand - it's more something for specific situations, like now.
So we have 4 options:
A) Go without.
B) Lose another of your spells to prepare it.
C) Wait until morning to change it over.
or D) Go ahead, and should we capture Vancaskerkin, you should have the 10 minutes available to prepare it (assuming at least one other spell has been cast by then, and you haven't had to spontaneously cast a domain spell with your last spell point).

I'm afraid (as my posts have probably attested already) that I'm not keeping up with the game nearly as much as I used to, guys. The combination of a shift in real-life priorities following my move back to AZ, plus, honestly, the glacial pacing of *any* PbP game, have combined to just about kill my interest.
Ross, you've got an amazing gift for written narrative. I don't mean my withdrawal or my reference to game-pacing to be a slight to how you've conducted the game, and I'm pretty certain I'd be hanging on every session if it were an at-the-table thing. I just don't think I knew what I was signing up for when I picked up the game nearly a year ago.
I hope the game isn't affected too adversely by my departure, I realize that you've lost one character already, but at the same time, Taras has literally done just about *nothing,* mechanics-wise, and the party has seemed to be functional enough.
Take care, and thanks for putting up with me this whole way. At least it'll be one less person to sit around waiting for, right?

Ross,
I'm leaving this weekend to spend the holidays with my family in the US, where unfortunately, my internet access is dial-up and spotty at best, so I'll be out of the game for about 2 weeks, until Jan. 5 or so. Please DMPC Verronax as needed.
Everyone, have a Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! :)

I'll take the compliment with thanks, though I assure you my in-person DMing is far less interesting, since I cannot improvise worth crap. The pace of PbP lets me think a bit more.

It's a shame to see you go, but it was good to have you while you were here.
With you an Jack missing, I think it's time to hang out the shingle and recruit another player or two. I'll go make a post in the invite thread.

The spots have been filled. Dennis 'da Ogre will be taking over Taras and JonathanShade will be taking over Karista.
Ross,
Would you mind if I made some changes to the Taras? It would be fairly subtle, maybe changing a feat and some abilities.
Also, should I assume Taras is with the rest of the group or are should I wait for you to slide him in the mix?
Taras
Taras is with the group. And yes, you may make changes as long as the basic idea stays the same. I'm letting Jon change Karista's gender, I think I can let you change a feat.
Taras <-- Let me know if that's Ok. Abilities and Skills are slightly different, Spells are changed, 1st level feat is changed. I also added the wands to his character... I'm a little confused but I believe he has the two wands. I'm not sure if he should have any treasure or exp points beyond that.
Taras
Should Taras be 2nd level as well? (I couldn't get to the link Ogre posted to ogrehut - the one on Paizo is only 1st.)
And Welcome to you both!
I don't know if Taras should be second level or not. As of right now I'm assuming no exp. I need to update the version of Taras in my profile.

Ross,
Are there any extra items/coins that Karista should have? I have been reading thru the adventure as far as it goes right now to get the feel of things. I know there was some treasure discussion. Don't mean to take away from the other characters, just asking if there is something else that I should have on Karista's sheet. Also she has 6 harrow points, yes? I don't see where she has used any in the past.

Top of this page: The glass tube of Oil of Keen Edge should be Karista's.

Ahh, well I kept Karista as is. Finishing the conversion to beta was enough trouble. I will do what I can to keep Karista the strong silent one. I will work on why she is still following the group around. She needs a definite direction for her development and I don't see it yet.
Ross Byers RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32
Yep. Karista has that Oil of Keen Edge, which goes VERY nicely with her great-honking big, large crit-range sword.
Also, there were two cash dispersements. The exact numbers escape me at the moment, but they're in the thread. If your character weath doesn't look high enough, it probably means they weren't recorded.
It looks like you rolled an 11 for your second level hit die, if my math is right. Nice!

Looks like you're missing 1 or 2 skill points (I can't tell if both favored class points went to hp, or just one). You have 9, a human Barb with 10 int should have 10 at second level.
Also your power attack is unadjusted for your increased BAB - the line should be:
Power Attack: Falchion +4 (2d4+10); Rage and Power Attack: +6 or +4/+4 (2d4+13)
Also brings up the question: Ross - sticking with the Beta Barb Rage/rage points, or the new rules Jason released Here? (basically no more con bonus after 1st level, Rage powers don't cost points, but work a little different).
Here's the new Knockback:
Knockback (Ex): The barbarian can make one free bull rush attempt against one target hit in melee this round. The barbarian does not need to move back with the target if successful. This power is used as an immediate action after the attack roll is made.
