Officially made aliases for all named NPC's of the first party, gosh is it difficult to find the right face for a character of is it just me? Maybe it is just limiting when you are most looking at humans. Kinda just did it for fun, I'll see how it works and see if I will use them, or make it a case by case situation.
Anyway, for the start of the game, how does the January 4th/5th sound for everyone. I'll make an opening post about the setting, throw you guys in towards the end of New Year's Eve feast, and open up the manor to talk to guests and explore. I am mostly good for party, and all NPCs have descriptions, factions and knowledge rolls for their info. I think I just need to set up a map or sorts and I am good for everything.
I suppose RSVP to the date, if anyone has anything, feel free to post it here or send me the PM.
Edit: How does everybody feel about a loot list/NPC list, for refreshing and reference. Would people want me to do this?
Raphael Montefiore
I'm flexible and am around now if you're also ready. :) I will be traveling on the 4th so that may limit my ability to reply a little.
Edit: So far as the loot list and NPC list goes, that might be helpful. The loot list is something that I've seen some DMs outsource to the players, in case anyone is interested. :)
DM Goldstool
Loot list would be kinda helpful if you guys start stealing things in houses, otherwise, most loot will be acquired at an individual basis. Also could help with important Plot items, so I don't lose track of them.
NPC list might be nice for intersession, so you can find who to talk to if someone strikes your interest at parties. I'll work on things, we can experiment, its no big deal.
Halcyon d'Orsay
I have lots of time between now and the 5th. On the 5th I return to work, which will limit my posting to mornings and maybe late night.
Lists may be fine or may not be needed. Not sure yet, but I'll probably keep my own lists of what I've learned and what, if anything, I acquire outside of intersessions.
Looking forward to the start.

Whelp I just got laid off so now I have pleanty of time until such an event as I find a new job, hopefully soon.
S#@+ man, I am so sorry to hear about that. If at any point you need breaks or some time that you can't participate, let me know, and we can make arrangements. Real life events and crises are more important than the game, and we can always make something work for you.
Seth Varianna
Sorry for the lack of posting but when you are on a cruise in the middle of the ocean it is kind of hard. I am all good for the 4th/5th start date and everything else suggested. Today is the only day of the cruise I will have service on my phone so if you have anything you want to talk to me about today is the day. Otherwise I will be back on the third.
DM Goldstool
No problem man, everyone deserves a vacation. I'll be posting the loot and NPC chart into the little description in the campaign, and writing up the intro over the next few days. If anyone has any questions or anything to say about the campaign, post it here! We will be starting in a week!
DM Goldstool
Setting, objectives (currently just party I suppose) and date added to the top of the Campaign thread info. A public loot list is made available, you guys can decide if you want to make agreements on splitting up stolen goods. NPC thread is also added, anything that you guys put there can be assumed to be public knowledge/talked about among yourselves. I will update it with descriptions, and what people do as it happens. Otherwise, info will only be added if everyone passes a knowledge check.
If you do want to share your knowledge rolls with others, put the text you learned in the discussion thread I suppose? We can work that out as it happens.
I'll figure out a format for a map, I might draw them out and scan them.
DM Goldstool
Hope everyone has a lovely New Year's, either with the company of friends and family, at a lively party, a mellow celebration alone, or whatever is your fancy! Cannot wait to start the campaign, I am really excited that I found such wonderful players to do this with! See everyone next year, and can't wait to have our own New Year's party in only 4/5 days!
Valentina Silverstone
Valentina silently thinks about the intelligence's question for a few moments before responding. "Hello," she says "It's quite the event that you work, and I have so many questions. For now, though... I think "Sum" will have to do for a name."

Getting more excited for this to start. :)
I was reading through the discussion thread to fill in some of my notes and I noticed I missed a few replies. Hoping to rectify that now.
This was a reply to my initial suggestion to Nishara about how we should know each other.
Now that I have some essentials worked out I am ready to forge more connections. In your motivation section you mention that you are looking for more family heirlooms. Nishara might have been pointed out by an NPC that Nishara had worked for in the past. The NPC probably would have given Nishara's name as one who is able to obtain information that proved impossible for anyone else to get.
I like idea a lot. I think my notes for our connection (similar to those for a few others) might read:
Nishara and Raphael were introduced through a mutual acquaintance (undisclosed at present). Raphael, his business success continuing to blossom, was seeking word of the family heirlooms that his father had sold off in the family's time of need. Frustrated by his lack of success, Raphael was intrigued by the near-mystical reverence given to Nishara's information gathering skills. After her success in helping him retrieve his family's ioun stone (owned originally by the first Montefiore noble), Raphael has felt a sense of gratitude towards the young woman. In Raphael's mind, future business dealings seem inevitable.
So far as Marcus goes, I'm comfortable with us being merely acquaintances for now. It leaves something to be developed fresh in the game. We'll likely know each other by word of mouth, through Nishara and through the "Tall Tail Inn".
Seth Varianna
In regards to the Knowledge Nobility thing, I changed that. It now has a point in it.

Spoiler puns will literally be the death of me.

I quite know how you are feeling. I have been editing the initial post, compiling theme songs for NPCs, and gathering mood music. Think everything is about ready to start.
You'll have to forgive me as I acquire a "voice" for the DMing PbP. May take a while for me to decide on the narration I give, so bare with me as I experiment with tones mood, tenses and descriptions. That said, I think the idea I currently have is a "narrator/storyteller" voice, and have notable NPC aliases deliver their lines through their character.
That said, sometime in the next 24 or so hours I will be putting things up. I am going to ask everyone to make one decision before we start: Most of you have some sort of weapon. Knives and swords mostly. I would like to think Emile would have asked you to store such things in the coatroom as you arrived, to be guarded by a servant. That said, he understands if people want to be able to protect themselves, show off, or feel comfortable having it with their person. Decide if you want to store your weapons/items in the coat room, or have them on your person. You can choose to be open about your weapon, or have it hidden away.
Valentina Silverstone
Valentina wouldn't even bring any of her weapons, opting instead to just go in a revealing dress with a clutch. Of course, the clutch contains one of her nails and her lockbreaking kit. And the glitter of her mithral armor will mesh with her silver dress. She will, on the other hand, bring her clockwork servant (who is more capable of wrecking face than she is anyway, and has fast healing).
Seth Varianna
Seth will be bringing his weapon, but will be storing it in the coatroom.
The spoiler is for the GM, in case the pun wasn't enough for you guys
Valentina Silverstone
Indeed they do have fast healing. Check it.
DM Goldstool
Not only can it fast heal, it can also heal 1d10 to itself every six seconds, essentially healing itself from close to death to totally fine in one minute. Silverstone Constructs are known for their reliability after all. Might get some odd looks at the party, but I know at least one guest will be absolutely thrilled to see it.
Seth Varianna
DM Goldstool
Week two, 3/6 players have some sort of construct on their person at all times. By week four, every player will be in construct armor, all psuedo-synthesist-summoners. Week five, Valentina is a construct now, no one makes any mention of the change at parties or social gatherings, it just seemed like a natural progression of her character. Week ten, all of Roland has been retrofitted with construct parts. The city no longer welcomes non-constructs, and secedes from Durendal. Week 13 Mecha Roland declares war on the surrounding area, the game now uses a different RPG's ruleset instead of Pathfinder's to better fit the scenario. But in all seriousness, a homunculus would be fine.

Ten potions of enhance water could let it turn water into wine once per day. A neat little trick, and relatively cheap (500 gold for the potions + 500 for the operation? Or maybe just 500 for the potions, not sure which as written honestly.) Combine that with a create water SLA for it (250?/500?), and it can create two gallons of ale on command for relatively cheap.
Marcus Tamarin

Sounds like a plan for that,
Hmm you said my alchemy shop can make a potion for me I forget if it was once a day or once a week at cost in addition to the 200gp, I'll use that to discount the adding of that enhancement to the construct.
As a note, I'm never going construct armor as I'm pretty sure it stops you from casting and otherwise using your own actions.
that said, later game making golems for the country seems the perfect answer for the rival nation who is made up of spellcasters... Hmm what's the cheapest of the golems...
Marcus Tamarin

Even cheeper and rather devistating are junk golems
They have both the golem immunity to magic and the ability to turn into swarms, basically bring a dragon or an alchemist because if you don't you're screwed
That said, I don't want one because it's made of junk and is diseased, eww,
Halcyon d'Orsay
Halcyon always has her walking stick with her as a blind person's method of checking for obstacles as she walks. It can double as a quarterstaff in emergencies.
She has quilted armor for everyday situations where she might expect trouble, but at the party, she'll be wearing a revealing gown without the armor.

Little bit of a posting explosion. :)
Raphael wouldn't wear his armor nor carry any weapon other then his masterwork dagger to the party. He'd obviously keep his ioun stone, holy symbol and and Braclet of Bargaining with him. For his clothing, he'll have picked an elaborate outfit befitting such an event. He prefers his family colors, so there will be a fair amount of black, red and gold involved. For something like this, his outfit would probably trend towards more colorful. Actually, the outfit in this picture should be appropriate. He'd be loath to be parted from the dagger (and it is a ornate weapon), so he'd wear it openly at his waist.
If Monsieur de Beaux requests/prefers, he'd gladly allow his weapon to be 'peace bound' using wire or cloth to prevent it being easily drawn without undoing the binding. Actually, in thinking about it (and inspired somewhat by the Wheel of Time in Caemlyn), it might be interesting to have different cloths in use on a person-to-person basis. They might be political, family crests or merely showy. Raphael would obviously have his own cloth for such occasions. It should be a quality black silk binding with red and gold trim and two golden lions rampant at each end of the cloth. Such cloths might look (and double) as scarves.
DM Goldstool
God Raphael, I forgot you made the Google Drawing of your character with Estelle, I love it.
We are good to go. And by that I mean, the posts are in the gameplay thread. A map should be accessible in the campaign header, and I will update it as the house is explored. For now, it is time for the fifth course of dinner, and the start of our journey!
DM Goldstool
For future reference, I will be rolling Saves, Initiatives, Know. Nobility, sense motive and perception on noteworthy things. You are free to actively roll for sense motive, nobility knowledge, diplomacy, perception et cetera whenever you like.

About to jump on an airplane, so I won't be able to post for the next 3-4 hours. Will be back after that. Hope I don't miss too much. :)

I won't do too much until most people chime in. No worries, just dinner conversation about politics and magic regulation most likely until the wine and cheese are gone, I won't be opening the house up for exploring until after this quick intro.
Raphael Montefiore
Turns out there is wifi on this airplane. I'll be able to keep in touch until I land and start the drive home. :)

Regarding the Dinner Music: I used to play cello in a high school string quartet where we played such music. Musicians might make good informants, by the way, since they are generally ignored and assumed to be engrossed in their music, while in fact, the music is usually only taking up a part of their awareness. They are in a position to overhear much. I might give one of the musicians a compliment and a nice tip (if appropriate) just to see if anything spills.
Nice choice of music; evokes the mood well.

Why thank you, I'll be sure to note rooms with performing musicians in case you want to. While my knowledge on music isn't too broad, most of it will be somewhat pop-culture derived or inspired. BSG just happened to be on my list and worked nicely.

Speaking of Golems, guess who learned yesterday that golems are almost completely immune to magic? THIS GUY. Yeah, I made an entire nation of sorcerers, and I didn't know that golems did that.
