Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

Frostbrand:

How about its a +1 Frost Weapon, that becomes +2 vs Fire Creatures, so almost a lesser Bane weapon?

Modified Frostbrand ssssounds fine. Add the extra potions to the stash.

Each of you take the items that appeal to you. You realize Ameiko is suddenly looking a bit nervous. Finally she asks you to hurry up. When you have pocketed the last potion she shuffles you out of the small room and begins to close the door.

perception DC15:
As she closes the door you hear a sound, almost as if it were in your head, but certainly there. It's a voice. It says: ahhhhh...rrrrrealease meeeee....plllllease! Ameiko glances at you nervously, obviously wondering if you heard that or not.

separate check KNOWLEDGE ARCANA DC20:
The voice has something to do with that strong Transmutation Aura that almost caused Boo to pass out a few moments ago.

When the door is closed she turns to all of you:

will you be headed back to the glassworks now? Or will you stay for a draft?

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Perception

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 Knowledge:Aracana

Unaware of voices or anything else, really, Tinuviel selects the potion of falling and the two unknown potions. She probably intends to study them later.

"A very small draft of beer or watered wine would be nice, thank you. We have a lot to do all of a sudden, so we'd best be about it."

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Perception

"Uh, Ame, what was that?"

What was what, Dair? she says innocently. She adjusts the painting on the wall back to it's original spot and the entire door/wall appears to blend together, hiding the secret door once again. No problem Boo, I'll get you that sip.

Ameiko turns and heads out in to the bar area.

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

In Minkaian "Weird voice asking to be released"

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

is minkaian a language?

Yes, Minkaian is a language. It was established earlier in the game that the Lonjiku family is from that region

Ameiko's reply (minkaian):
Dairkal, for your own safety, do not inquire of this further. There are powerful beings in this world. I've seen them on my travels. And I also may have taken a thing or two from some of them. I guess you will have to decide whether or not you trust me...

Ameiko hands Boo her watered down wine.

When you come back I'll give you something stronger and you can tell me about your adventures. she says with a wink.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Thumparr feels the hair on the back of his neck stand up and he wheels toward the sound of the voice. We ain't going nowhere...until ye open up that door again. Me and Dair heard sommat that, from the way yer acting, we wasn't supposed to hear. Now, ye can tell us what it is, or I'll open the door meself and find out.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Whether Ameiko relents or not, Thumparr is going back into the room and search for the source of the voice. Also, assuming no one objects, Thumparr will take the Potion of Invulnerability and a Potion of Healing.

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

In common "Of course I trust you Ame, you've been so good to me since I've gotten here. It just spooked me a bit, that's all"

When Thumppar reveals he too heard the voice and the makes his intentions known the halfling comes to his friend's defense "Leave it and Ame be Thump. She's assured me she has everything under control"

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

there ya go Thump! :)

Maltheus stiffens up in surprise

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

"Ameiko's business is her own. We have other matters to attend to."

Tinuviel's voice came out a little sharper than normal when she began speaking, but she softened it and ended speaking pleasantly.

Ameiko watches Thumparr to see if he will follow through and turn the painting to open the door. Unarmed, she has no intention of interfering, but she does take a step back away from the door and reaches for a broom leaning against a nearby wall. Something is better than nothing when it comes to self defense, she guesses.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

What ye need a broom for girl? Ye plan on sweeping the floor after we leave out?
He gives Dair and Boo a look and then turns away, and then turns back and says, Ye know, we be doing all of this for ye by our own will. Risking our lives because we want to help. Ye and ye brother...don't know what yer messed up with, but hear me straight: if'n it costs the lives of any of me friends here, I'll come back and take it out of yer ass. That's a promise!

Thumparr stomps off outside and waits for his companions.

Ameiko smiles, watches Thumparr walk out the door, and leans the broom back against the wall. I'll be waiting for you all when you get back...

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

Maltheus walks out with a puzzled face

what was that all about?

ready to move on

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

"In the magic trade we call it an S.E.P., good sir knight. I must admit you do make me feel much safer just by being here."

Desna, he's cute! It must be the armour. Something about a man in uniform..."

Perception +300 at night when finding mouse

I updated the campaign info. Took off all the location descriptions since we aren't using them. Just going to track quests and major treasure we have. Let me know if I'm missing something on the lists.

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

Dair effortlessly jumps onto a nearby bar stool, and gives Ame a big hug "I'm sorry about all that happened tonight. We'll do what we can to help you out, I promise"

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

I do what i can m'lady Maltheus says modestly, unsure if he's reading too much in to Surana's comment
S.E.P? i must say the arcane arts are not my strong suit

Perception +300 at night when finding mouse

Night falls as you strike out on the next leg of your adventure. The people of Sandpoint in the streets tonight are oblivious to the fate that approaches them from Nualia and her minion. You know with certainty you are the only souls standing between them and the abyss.

Where are we off to?

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

"Good night everyone. Shall we gather here at the inn first thing in the morning?"

Tinuviel rushes home before night falls. She intends to spend the night with her aunt and uncle. Kvothe flies ahead of her, scouting and hoping to nab a tasty treat before Tinuviel blocks her.

I know, 'don't split the party', but last night was an anomaly for her. She normally sleeps there.

Perception +300 at night when finding mouse

No problem splitting the group as far as i'm concerned. Eveyone just needs to let the humble DM know what they want to do.

The watchman calls 10 o'clock as Boo reaches her Uncles house: a cozy green cottage at the foot of the old light house I'm making it (Area 7). As she steps in the door her aunt rises from a rocking chair where she has been sitting, pretending to knit something, but in fact trying her best to alieve her own state of great anxiety...

Shadow Lodge

Boo! I'm so glad your home...I've been looking for you all day! I even went down to that Rusty Dragon place. People there said you had been there last night but were already gone! It's your uncle. Something dreadful has happened and I don't know what to do...

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

"Aunt, what is the matter? Where is he?" Boo hugs her aunt tightly.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

I'm thirsty! Thumparr says as Maltheus walks up beside him. How 'bout I buy ye a mug or three? Where's the nearest watering hole?

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

woudn't pass a free drink, if we're to fight and die tomorrow, tonight we'll make it count
Maltheus said with a warm smile and slaps Thumpar on the back as they walk

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

You mean aside from the Rusty Dragon which is where I believe we just were with Ameiko?

Perception +300 at night when finding mouse

At the red X on the map:

The air is dank and you can hear the sound of dripping water. The passage stretches on before you.

Thumparr can see 60 ft in the dark. Everyone else will need light. Time for a dungeon crawl!!!

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

Skipping ahead

Tinuviel followed the dwarf at a small distance while she pondered what she had learned from her aunt.

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

Maltheus ties a bandanna in to a head band and casts light on a readily accessible coin, placing it in a fold of the bandanna to lighting the space ahead of him, readies his weapons and gives Thumpar a knowing nod to continue

Perception +300 at night when finding mouse

Okay, i'm ready to keep playing. Sorry for the delays...Boo, if you want, we can run a flashback thread to resolve what happened that night at your aunts' house. I'll do it with spoilers for you. Also, Maltheus a few spoilers for you: something happened to you while you slept last night!

boo:
Here is what you discovered: You found your Uncle in a coma in his bed. Your aunt says he had received a package that contained a small box. When she found him in his study a few hours later he was lying unconscious on the ground, the small gold timmed box lying next to him. Your uncle growns as you stand by his bed side. Your aunt says Boo, the box is still on the floor in the study. I was afraid to touch it. What should we do? Can we save him? What do you do?

Maltheus:
As you fall asleep you begin to dream. You find yourself in a beautiful forest on a midsummer's evening. You come to a meadow where a simple woodsman is chopping firewood. Shafts of moon-light shine down around him. His back is turned to you. He hums a pleasant tune. What do you do?

Catacombs: Maltheus' coin casts an eiree light in the tunnel as you carefully proceed. A sidepassage leads off to the right about 15 feet ahead (see map)...

The tunnel is very cold.

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

Maltheus:
Maltheus doesn't say much but does what comes instinctively to him, which is help, he approaches, picks up he readied firewood, and nods at the woodsman,
where do you need this?

maltheus:
As the man turns to face you you are astonished to see that he has the head of a mighty elk! What a moment before you had taken to be some kind of tribal head-dress turns out to be honest to goodness ivory rack of antlers. The elk-man regards you for a moment, then motions to a woodpile. If you deliver the wood as instructed, the elk man motions for you to sit down on the chopping block...the very block he has been cutting wood on!

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

Maltheus:
the elk-mans presence feels a strangely familiar to Maltheus, like an old mentor gaze on him he follows and comes to a rest on the woodblock

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

Boo at home:
Boo used her magical skills (detect magic) and concentrated upon the box without lifting it. She studied it for a long time (3+ rounds).

"We will both do all we can. I'm here for you, you know that." Boo hugged her aunt tight.

Shadow Lodge

boo at home:
spellcraft check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 Jingles! if that is your roll then you pretty much know everything about the box itself! Here is the scoop: You have read about such boxes...Considering the auras it emits it must be a dream box. Originally designed by the Iconoclastic Mages of old to help a person work through their worst nightmares, it has also been used by less scrupulous magic users to trap victims in their own minds, for whatever nefarious purpose...

Boo further knows that a successfull 'use magic device' check DC18 will allow a person to travel along the coat-tail left between the box and the very mind of the current dreamer. Thus did the old mages use the box to enter the dreams of their patients to walk them through their worst nightmares. However, there is a catch:

Boo knows that one who thus travels through a dreambox will appear on the other side with no items of any kind...there is a 50% chance that even one's clothing will not manifest in the residual self image of the box user. Boo further has no idea what might happen should one attempt to use the box, but fail the check.

maltheus:
The creature leans forward and breaths on you. The foggy vapor from the elk-head nostrils enfolds your face. Then in a voice low, humble, simple: Do you know who I am, Maltheus? It lowers it's chopping axe and puts it's hand on your shoulder. I have a destiny to give you, if you will accept it...

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

Maltheus:
Maltheus nods yes, I've known you since i knew i was never alone in the woods, since i learned to survive, i accepted when i traveled unknown paths, i accepted when i walked towards the howls instead of away

maltheus:
The creature's elk-face bends in what could be a smile. It turns away to survey the forest, pausing now and then as if it can hear the trees, rocks and wind speaking. A great evil is rising in this land, Maltheus. I was there, you know--10,000 years ago, I stood in the council of the gods and cast my vote: to send the star hurling from the sky and destroy the festering cities of Thassilon. Lady Desna and I blessed the farms and hamlets that grew up in it's wake. The land once again yeilds its fruits to the children of men. But this old threat now returns. An I have not seen Lady Desna in many moons. No one, not even us gods, knows where she is...

M Human Paladin1/Cleric1 (Divine Hunter /Oath of Vengeance) init+7; AC:16; Axe/Bow

Maltheus:
Maltheus tries to keep his composure as he realizes the full weight and consequences of the revelations, keeps listening intently

Female Elf Wizard, 3, Per +4, Init +3, AC 13, Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1 (Familiar: Raven) HP (18)21 (3/8 acid darts)

Boo in Space and Time:
Boo will of course use the box. If she can take 20 then the roll would be 20+4=24, if not then it is 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12. But she is going either way. As for clothing 1d2 ⇒ 2.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Thumparr moves forward into the tunnel, crossbow ready, keeping a trained eye on the walls and floor, just in case there is a pit trap or worse.

Perception +300 at night when finding mouse

Thumparr comes to the side passage. MAP UPDATED. Peering into the gloom around the corner he sees a cavern. Standing squarely in the middle of the cavern is a creature. It is motionless, accept for a slight unsettling sway. With darkvision Thumparr sees that it has overly-long arms, and a snakelike tounge hangs from it's mouth. It stinks.

dc15 dungeoneering:
This is a sin-spawn, which you recall were made by former ages as shock troops for their armies. Now, they are rarely seen accept in the dungeons of the most vile villians.

Shadow Lodge

boos new cloths:
You open the box. The skin all over your body begins to sizzle and tingle...tel tale signs of jumping through a portal. Although looking back behind you as you travel you see your own body slump to the floor of the room. You see your aunt rush to the side of your now soul-less body. But the image soon fades. A moment later you find yourself standing in a desert of sand dunes, the sand sliding over your bare feet. There are stars in a night sky above you, but this firmament is not like the one you know in the real world...The stars are much larger, yet static. Comets move, stop, and then start moving again in a strange fashion. On the horizon, a massive planet rises, it's saturn like rings filling almost half the this night's sky. And before you is a pyramid, rising some 300 ft into the air. A single rectangular entrance is before you, guarded by two statues of female form: their bodies that of slender women, but their heads are jackels. As a slight breeze picks up you realize you are now adorned in a flowing silk gown of deep scarlet. It bellows in this breeze and feels so light on you skin you may as well be wearing nothing at all. Surely such a gown would fetch the highest price even among the noble women with the pickiest taste in Magnimar...You also notice all your posessions are gone. If there is a trial ahead you will face it with nothing but your wits. You wonder what kinds of effects magic might have in this place??? What do you do?

Spoiler:
I have peered as far into the future as I can but all I see is darkness. Without the butterfly princess in our midst, all hope for the simple happy life may be lost to human kind. Maltheus, I have not taken a human being as my proxy for thousands of years. But the council of the gods has decided. Non of us so-called 'gods' are to intervene. There is a man among your companions who can help you. It is he who was marked by my Desna at birth. The two of you will not see eye to eye. Many times you will dissagree and I tell you, before the end you will both attempt to kill one another. Yet it will take both of you to unlock the final door. What that door is, I cannot yet see.

The elk creature looks up toward the stars. It's animal nature appears to take over, although this is not a struggle...simply a dicotomey to profoud for human words. He lowes at the night sky, and his breath fills the air with a gentle fog, which precipitates into a soft snow. Slowly his sentiant half regains control and he looks at you again, with compassion.

I know you must have many questions. I shall grant you the answering of three right now...Ask! What is it you wish that Erastil, lord of the wilderness, would make clear to you?

dairkal's night:
Thumparr and the others leave for the catacombs the following morning...you can still go with them if you want!? As for the night at the Rusty Dragon: Ameiko bids the last customer of the evening good night. Then comes to join you at the table, a fresh bottle of vintage low-alcohol wine in her hand.

Dairkal, my friend, I have never seen you so troubled. What is it? Is it something i've done?

Maybe Dair is not troubled...I dont' know...just trying to figure him out. What is he after in this world? Is he a drifter only with no purpose? Ameiko wants to know...

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 8/Magus8(Kensai,)/Investigator8(Questioner)

Dair's night:

I will definitely be going with the others to the catacombs. Also, Ame knows a lot about the juggler, but the GM does not, hahaha

Dair sighs as his best friend sits down at the table with him "Its definitely not you Ame. You're brother, he was so cruel and malicious, the way he murdered your father. He also clearly had very nasty, unpleasant plans for you. Its just a shock, I'm not naive at all and I've seen some bad stuff and heard stories of even more and worse, yet never among family. I've not seen mine years, but I could never imagine something so awful happening to them."
