Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.
Fumble: If you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll, make a dexterity check. If you get less than 10 you fumble. If you get more than 10 your attack simply misses very badly. If you roll a natural 20 you get your attack back, roll another attack roll!
Super crits: If you roll a natural 20 on a critical and when you roll another 20 to confirm this is a super crit, increase your weapons modifier by 1. (ex: X2 becomes X3)
Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.
if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.
Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.
Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...
Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?
Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).
Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."
Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)
Congrats.
I'm moved (I posted a while back saying I was moving), and finally getting my head above water. I've been posting in some games, catching up with them slowly, and am now catching up with this game. I don't anticipate any long delays again in the forseeable future.
Absolutely not. I've just been biding my time wondering what to post. I'll post now, however..That said, for some reason my gameplay tab hasn't updated so when you posted in discussion I realized how much I'd missed. My apologies.
There is nobody in town who can use magic to quickly contact magnimar so Andrass and Lucan are going to take horses and ride hard for Magnimar and try to report what is going on to the lord mayor. The trip is dangerous and only skilled adventurers could do it quickly. The ships are being loaded and prepared in case an evacuation needs to happen so they cant take them.
Male Elf Conjurer 7 (Init -1 | Perc +6 | hp 23/27 | AC 13/9/13 | Saves 3/3/8)
DireMerc, even though I grin each time I read it, I thought I should point out that the large marvel of Thassilonian engineering blocking the water is a 'dam', rather than a 'damn'. ;-)
Now I am wondering what is everyone's height, This it helps my visualise the scene in proper perspective, as it may do with other players.
DireMerc, Dreaming and Vrog, know I do renderings of characters.
All I need is a description, a height, and idea of what a character is wearing and I can get very close the first go, and do refine it.
Currently making an Updated Ayla,
Dreaming, I already got a Good idea given your description.
Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)
Hey guys -- I fear I have to withdraw from this campaign. I'm finding with my new job (about 2 months in now) that I just don't have the spare time and mental energy to keep up with all the games I'm in. More than once I've gone far too long (like right now) without posting, and I fear this will just continue.
I'm sorry to drop out, although I think this party in particular has a lot of the roles covered and will be fine without Lucan.
Just a question, but It's been more than just a day since we fought the ogres at the Graul farm, right? If so then I've got gravity bow more than prepared.
Spells Prepared for the Day:
Aspect of the Falcon (lvl 1)
Gravity Bow (lvl 1)
Cat's Grace (lvl 2)
Uhh.... I should probably point out that if I get hasted, and expend all of my buffs, even from the forest (which normally gives concealement, but doesn't, as a result of the seeking property) I'll have a +16/+16/+16/+11 to hit, and that's using Deadly aim and rapid shot at the same time...
Every shot will also deal 2d8+9 damage
That amount of to hit also includes the fact that my Crossbow has a range Increment of 120 feet, which, as per rules, imposes a -2 per range increment. This basically means that if they're within 240, I can shoot from where I'm standing, behind trees, and hit them with a +14 on my rolls.
Or, if I just take off deadly aim, It'll be back up to 16 again and dealing 2d8+6 which isn't anything to snuff at. Also where we're in a forest, my initiative is higher so I could do it again.
Basically I just really hate Giants and Humans alike.
I AM STILL HERE. I've just been neck-deep in finals. I sincerely apologize for the absense, and I need to inform you that I'll never willingly drop out of this rune lords game. I've just been very preoccupied. My deepest apologies. Now who's turn is it?
When I say everyone can post in any order that includes you. I don't expect everyone to post only when thei're turn is up on init that would take to long.
Sigh...Zadderk why aren't you posting? Are you just not gonna post so long as there isn't an init tracker? Cause sometimes I don't even roll init at all for a fight. In play by post it just gets in the way.
Generally speaking the initiative tracker not being there is a major hindrance for me because I'm only able to post sparsely, and in addition to being swamped in college I believe I'm going to need to drop out if I'm to maintain my own current game. I humbly apologize.
I think I'm actually going to close this game. It got off to a rocky start and has been limping along since and I sorta lost interest. The game is currently off the track as attacking the damn right now is a bad move since reinforcements are just going to keep coming and overwhelm you. Your're supposes to do ogre cabin -> Fort -> Damn. Basically this fight would keep going until you retreat and this could take a while which is why I kinda lost interest.
Well that and I'm a little busy right now, I'm leaving my current job and moving from canada to germany in the next few weeks to start a new job.
