Red Blessing is a campaign that takes place 59 years in the future of the current Pathfinder timeline, the years being 4770. It starts in Alkenstar with the first module Stars and Shadows and ends with Restoration of Blood.

The Duchess Hana Reidford impatiently waits for an answer. She looks at each of you with an odd expression and is twitching her lips oddly

You have never seen or heard of the Duchess being so distraught. There must be something else at work here.

Sense Motive DC 25(if speak Dwarf add 5 to roll):
The Duchess is trying to pass on a secret message using facial, hand and lip movement. She is telling you that someone maybe listening to the conversation and that she is in danger. Please seek out Samuel Reidford

The room is a dark 30'x30' cellar. You were brought here blindfolded, but you believe you are under one of the Guard Towers. Other than the balcony from which the Duchess addresses you, the stone walls are empty, but clean. There is no furnature here and the only exit is the way you came in, a 10'x4' doorway that leads to some stairs you remember. There are several guards here, most of them are Dwarven and carrying large Reidford rifles. The Guard directly in front of you wears the Alkenstar Shield of Valor and has a stern look on his face.

Knowledge Dungeoneering DC 15:
This cellar does not seem that deep, and you remember by the steps you took that it can not be more than 40' below ground level of the city. The east wall looks fresh, and there seems to be a draft coming from it that smells of gunpowder and dried rations.

Knowledge Local DC 10:
It is a well known fact that The Reidford's have several hidden bunkers in the city with arms and supplies. This could be one of them.

Everyone make a Perception roll, if you had access to the second sense motive check add 2 circumstance bonus

Miikae blinks her eyes to help get used to the bright light compared to the darkness of a moment ago. She adjusts quickly though, she is no stranger to bright lights, having experimented with her own magical creativity, what little skill she possessed currently. The Duchess' words are heavy and she listens to every word. The sum of five-hundred thousand pieces of gold is too big for her to comprehend and she thinks for several seconds how many carts would be needed to carry it all. All the money in the world would not buy her what she truly wanted though.

The Calikang may have tortured her, but part of her wanted to hope that they could indeed heal the land... of course it was hopeless. She didn't even remember where it was that she had been held. Thank goodness Sands had found her and carried her back. One of the esteemed Duchesses horses had somehow been there just when she needed. She hadn't owed the Duchess anything in fact, but in her head it was so. Now she found herself here again, not to protect diplomats and their like but to find a killer? The world was changing it seemed.

"I accept," seemed to be all she needed to say. She didn't like the guard too much for yelling but there was no point getting irritated. The words of the Duchess about working together came back to her and she looked around the room to see a group assembled with her. Quite a diverse group from what she could tell. Well of course the Duchess should know many kinds of people. Miikae trusts the Duchess would only hire those that were of the required skill so she does not worry about them, she only worries what good her skills will be inside the city. well there is always some roughing up of some criminal or another, what better way to startle them than have a woman do the roughing Miikae smiles at the thought. Rough was just her style.

"Are there any leads that the sheriff has been able to find? What clues he may already possess will no doubt help us also."

my debts havent gone unnoticed from the dutchess and being apart of the greystone guild im on my last leg with them so i need to give them patronage dues and this will be a great way to get back in "favor" and get my own ship again! A proper crew this time this will be perfect.

Kera had listened to the The Duchess words. She cared little for the gold, though it would make life comfortable, Kera wanted the peace back. She looked over to the dwarf as he seemed rather impatient with the group.

"I will also lend my sword to the cause."

As others spoke she looked around the room getting a feel for where they might be.

As a halfling, Pervince stands only a head shorter than the typical dwarf, dressed in blue and gold clothes as fine as the elaborately-decorated musket slung over his shoulder. A musketeer by appearance, he bows slightly in the manner of a dwarf, clasping his right hand over his chest. He is confident, proud and entirely unaware of the clues around him.

"I will do all I can, but all I know of are rumors. May you have more references for us, aside from the Sherrif?"

If we could start regularly posting in the discussion thread, I'd like to get some minor things set in order, including what we know about each other already.

Silver Crusade

Urdahna Gansukh is certainly the most unusual looking of those who attended the meeting of Duchess Morra Reidford. She appeared to be a young woman in her mid to late teens with light blue skin, blue eyes and some intricate dark blue tatoos across her skin. Her ears are slightly pointed like an elf but she has a build more like a human.

As a member of the Diplomatic entourage from Xian she was a useful choice to be picked for this mission. The death of Lord Vyktor Von Zol sent shock-waves throughout the diplomatic core and harmed the reputation of Alkenstar itself. Urdahna was given an invitation to meet with Morra Reidford and listened to the proposition. Being a monk, Urdahna was not as much interested in the money as seeking justice be done for the death of Lord Vyktor. Despite the nature of the crime, five hundred thousand gold pieces seemed like an insane amount of payment for such a task.

Urdahna bows respectfully to the Duchess and says, "I am honored to be allowed to assist Alkenstar in finding those who committed this terrible crime. I accept your proposition Duchess Hana Reidford and I shall do my best to find find those responsible and bring them to justice."

Greysov listens to the to the Duchess wondering what stress she might be under and wonders if the other present picked up on it.

"My Lady you can count on my assistance, in any problems you might have it is my honor to serve." Greysov touches his holy symbol nodding at the Duchess and then he bows.

He then looks around the room watching the expression on the faces around the room and anything else that catches his eye.

Being from Nidal himself, Muziel had motivation enough to solve the murder. It was no small matter to gain favor with the House of Viktor Von Zol. But Muziel was flabbergasted by the reward being offered by the Duchess - a reward that could sustain his rebellious journey from Nidal for years. So astounded that he almost failed to notice the odd expression on the Duchess's face. If only he had any prior experience with Dwarves, perhaps he could understand what that expression meant.

Kera looked around again her eyes falling on the Duchess wondering what her true motives were.

The duchess was acting out of character which made Kera think there was something a foot.

"Is there anything more we can be of service to you for?"

She thought to ask hoping to get more out of the women.


Male Human Rogue [Knife Master, Scout] 3, Fighter [Brawler] 4

Quietly listening to the instructions given, the powerfully muscled, bald human in the room stands with bare arms crossed over his armored chest. Dark-lensed goggles hide his eyes and give his dour countenance an indiscernible quality. As the Duchess speaks, he remains motionless, save for one subtle quirk of his scarred right brow.

After a moment, the broad-shouldered man lifts his head up and regards the group listening to the Duchess, looking them up and down behind the smoky lenses of his goggles. Uncrossing his arms to rest his hands on his hips, he reveals a pair of curved daggers slid into sheathes on his chest over the lacquered plates of wood that makes up his armor.

Kera and Muziel are given additional attention from the wordless man, though eventually his focus shifts entirely to the Duchess. "Only one question," he rumbles in a deep voice to her, "Do you want bodies, or captives?"

Zadok/Miikae/Kera:
You hear a slight breaking of glass. It sounds like it came from behind the Duchess in the balcony area. Just befor the room fills with smoke you see one of the Guards, that looks like a Gnome, use some sort of Grapple hook to scale the balcony.

The room begins to fill with Red Smoke. The room is 30x30' there is a balcony in front of you aprox 10' up. There is a small set of stairs that lead to the balcony. There are torches all around the room.

What the devil is this!? The gruff gaurdsmen exclaims as he begins to cough.

GIVE ME A FORT SAVE DC 6 AND THEN AN INITATIVE CHECK. ZADOK,Kera AND MIIKAE CAN ACT IN THE SURPRISE ROUND. IF YOU FAIL YOUR FORT SAVE YOU ARE BLINDED(-2 AC and loose your Dex enemys have concealment ect.Pg 565 refferance)

As the crimson smoke begins to pour into the room, Karrick looks to his left and right, then tilts his head at a crooked angle the way a hunting dog does when trying to pinpoint the location of prey. His hands come up to the curved knifes sheathed at his chest, and as the crimson smoke swallows him the shearing sound of the blades being unsheathed accompanies his disappearance.

Now seeing what the others do, Pervince runs up the stairs to aid the Duchess by getting in the gnome's way. (if he cannot run, then double move up stairs toward them and draw dagger)

I'm going to split my decision of my standard based on what happens but for the sake of moving the game forward I will write them both down for the DM.

Still cursing, Zadock makes his way to the bottom of the stairs and turns to face the new assailant...

If I get to the edge of the stairs and I can see the assailant...:

Still cursing, Zadock aims his musket at the gnome and yells out "Duck and Cover your Ladyship!"

Carefully channeling the protective spell he prepared for the day into the barrel he lets it loose at the gnome.

Zadok makes a well aimed shot and hits the Gnome. Pervince bravley closes in with the attacker, blocking the Duchess from any more abuse.

The Gnomish attacker fires his grapple weapon into the ceiling. The gears of his weapon rapidly pull him as he swings for the door way. I am sorry brothers. No time to explain. Acrobatics1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 As he flys over head he drops a vial of some greasy substance on the ground behind you.

Pervince:
Stop him. He has my... The Duchess whispers to you before she passes out. A rag with some substance falls to the ground next to her.

You may try to charge to block him off, you will need an acrobatics to avoid sliping on the grease on the floor. DC 13

Miikae abandons her previous thought as she sees the gnome swing over them. Dropping her grappling hook for now she turns and mounts Sands directing him to block the gnome off and attack.

Sands charges across the room, managing to keep his footing across the dangerous ground. Miikae sends a silent prayer as they manage to safely cross. Her heart beeting in her chest. As sands comes near the intruder she touches his neck in an unusual way, but he is familiar with this feeling. casting guidance using held standard action

The attack is at the target's flat-footed AC provided he did not notice Karrick stalking through the smoke with that earlier stealth check.

Karrick is stealthily moving through the red smoke to intercept the gnome. If he can get behind him (or behind the square he will land in after swinging, depending on how things are working out) he will. Otherwise he will just take any adjacent square and attack.

Hearing the whip-clank of the grappling hook and seeing the small, gnomish figure whirling overhead, Karrick moves swiftly and with grace through the red smoke that distracts some of the others. Concealed by the billowing gas and using it to mask his approach, he stalks up on the gnomish interloper with his wickedly curved cold-iron daggers gripped tightly in backhanded fashion.

On closing the distance, Karrick abruptly emerges from the smoke while Miikae has him distracted and the exit blocked off. Just a moment after Karrick's broad-shouldered frame is revealed, he's bringing the kerambit's blade down at the gnome with lethal intent.

Urdahna tries to move through the Greese without falling towards the man who attacked the group.

Doing so she moves up the assailant her hands start glowing with frozen energy (Elemental Fist Activation). She then attempts to punch the man with Frozen Fist technique.

Zadok- 22 Fires and hits assailant Good thing you have percise shot
Pervince - 18 Closes Distance with the Gnome with dagger drawn.
Gnome Attacker - 17 Swings for the doorway dropping grease behind him.
Mikkae - 15 Orders Sands to attack with bonus(remember concentration checks are required for any spell)
Gurney - 14 moves to position himself to see the Gnome around the advancing party to get a clear shot.
Karrick - 13+ Attacks the Gnome,just missing him and ripping his Reidford cload to shreads with his deadly knifes.
Sands - 13- Almost knocks over Karrick in its fierce charge. The horse leans over to bite the Gnome but catches only air.
Greysov - 12 (Blinded) Finds his way to a wall, listening to the chaos around him.
Cpt Oliver- 11 Fails in his attempt to gain the key to his chains.(Next time if trying to Bluff A.K.A lie, try to give me some dialogue ex- Hey their mate hows about letting ol'Oliver from these chains, swear i'll be a good lad.
Muziel - 8 Muziel finds the source of the smoke, an alchemist vial of some sort Next round can craft alchemy to ID , but the contents have all be expelled and now have to go about their corse.
Urdahna- 6 Urdahna makes an exceptional leap over the grease, and advances towards the doorway. Urdahna squeezes her way past Miikae and her horse and Karrick, but fails to land a successful blow against this cunning assailant.
Reidford - 5 The guards attempt to get a clear shot, but the smoke, and shadows of many figures in the doorway prevent that.
Kera- 4 Falls from the slippery substance laid before her.

Pressing against the balcony rails, he looks back to the duchess, kneeling at her side, glancing at the cloth. "Apothecary! Fetch an apothecary! The duchess needs aid!"
