"Well - I didn't think I'd wake up today and become a liability. This is just getting better by the minute," he says with a sigh.

"Wouldn't work anyways. Cyborg experimentation never did. The tech used for Ryo's arm was about as far advanced as it was ever practically able to go. You know, without killing the subject. And that is so not gonna happen here."

"It sort of works where I come from, but I don't really have any desire to be a soulmech at the moment," he says with a nod.
"So I need to find some way of blocking this. Guess I need to start looking through my spellpad for some ideas soon..."
"Would magic that blocks divination be any help, Ephebe? Or something more exotic?"

Ephebe |

She sighed. "Well, that might help if it's strong enough. I can put a permanent protection from evil spell on you. Trust me, that one saves a lot of grief later. Dimensional anchor wouldn't hurt either, but makes things difficult if you actually want to teleport."

"I might need the ability to get around in a hurry, yeah. Though I don't like the implication of needing the anchor. Hmmm...."

"Just so you know, Uncle Ryo, there's a chance that that might backfire. Attempt number 93. Not pretty. But it might just work this time. It's hard to predict the small variables. It almost worked on attempt number 105. And we're definitely going to need to make use of your cards. And anything else we can think of. I really wish we had another cleric, or maybe a paladin or twelve. Fighting demons is tricky business."

"What about a green mage and a serpent sorcerer? I'd rather not bring them into this, and I flat out refuse to allow my household's newest addition any part of this, but Adsila can heal a bit, and both she and Ormarr can combat poisons with ease if we encounter them."
"And I know it can backfire..."

"I know it's not ideal, but we really can use as much help as we can get. The alternatives...Well, it pretty much amounts to turning the prime material into a subdivision of the abyss."

Ryo stands and leaves the room, heading in the direction of the door Addy slammed.

Ryo stands and leaves the room, heading in the direction of the door Addy slammed.
As Ryo heads to the room, he notices the slammed door has left a crack in the wall. A crack that forms a straight line then turns sharply. Investigating the crack reveals a section of the wall had been patched over at some point in the house's history. A small, dusty lead-covered box lays inside. There is no keyhole.

Agarthian Storyteller |

Taking the box from the wall, Ryo continues on tot he room. Once he enters, he snaps his fingers.
Back in the room he left, Ormarr and the others hear a thump and a muffled yell.
"You know more about this stuff than me, can you tell what is in the gem without opening it or otherwise damaging it?"
"Finally, something to do. The most fun I've had was when Adsila stormed in here, furious about something. Give me one hour, and you'll have your answer."
Agartha, email the results if you don't want to post them here. If it's what I think it is, it shouldn't take an hour. ;)
Nodding, Ryo walks over to the Lab's main table, looking over all the equipment.
"Do you think you can brew me some potions? We're going to need everything we can get when we leave."
"Um.. I can try.. but it might not be much. Or.. any good."
"Don't worry about that. Just work hard, and remember, it's for Aananda and Adsila as much as is it for everyone else."
There is another muffled yell, though this one sounds like one made in excitement(or maybe embarassment), and a few moments later Ryo walks back into the room. He's got a mischevious grin on his face.
"We should have a few potions ready for us by the time we leave, I added a bit of incentive to my request."

Spoiler:Blood. Dragon blood. Mithral dragon blood. The amulet is part of a mithral dragon skeleton. Blood and bone. Purpose - Idea stage. It just popped into my mind. Chan would luv to get his hands on this. Would kill to get his hands on this. As would the BBEGs.

Cardcaster Ryo |

"Anyway, an interesting thing occured while I was asking for the potion. Turns out a crack formed in the wall when Addy slammed the door. It lead to a place in the wall that looked liked it had been patched over long ago. Behind the patch was a box that held what looked like a dragon's claw made out of mithral, with a large ruby cut in such a way as to look like it was dripping from the claw. The entire amulet appeared to be of expert quality."
He's about to go on when something, either light or shadow, coalesces into a box in front of him. There is a sheet of paper resting on the box. After he's picked it up to read it, he pales and pushes the box away.
"I don't want, someone else take it."

Tamrin Sunwake |

Aananda can't take her eyes off of the amulet. Something about it draws her, but she doesn't know why. She picks it up and holds it to the light, examining it. Her eyes transform as she does, her irises expanding and her pupils elongating.
"What is it?" she asks fascinated.
Tam is torn between examining the amulet and Aananda's unusual reaction to it. He stands next to Aananda as she holds it.
"The note says the amulet was crafted from the bones of a mithral dragon, and the liquid in the ruby is the blood of one."
"What.....? That's one tiny dragon, unless it was still in...the egg. Oh man....."
"So why would this be hidden in your home's walls, Ryo?"
This just sparked a bad idea....another option besides replacing Tam's blood with motor oil...hmmm.

Cardcaster Ryo |

"So why would this be hidden in your home's walls, Ryo?"
"I.. have no idea. I was never told about anything hidden in the walls, be it a box or a bag of sand. I'm not even sure if my family built this house or acquired it after the orginal owners left. There's no telling how old the amulet is, and I can only see so far into something's past. Such an item must have been expensive to make, and dangerous to acuire the... parts for. Mithral dragons aren't called Quick-Silvers for nothing."

Kannic Orefinder |

Kannic still struggles against the darkness enveloping him, but most of the fight has left him. His only breal in the dull routine are those moments where he has felt the sting of needles, sometimes drawing his blood and othertimes injecting fluids into him. He is powerless to stop them, and has lost count of the number of times it has happened.

Sherrlyn Ostius |

Thrilling as their advances are Sherrlyn hates this place. Here the demon holds sway. Here the demon's power is the greatest. She has lost track of the time she has given up control of her own body. A part of her fears that she has lost it completely. No, she convinces herself, this has happened before. The demon has to return to the real world. Needs to. Living in a trap of its own design is the same as the trap it escaped. She watches her hands as they work, she feels the demon as it touches the knowledge in her mind, and she shares its thirst for 'more'.

Tamrin Sunwake |

"Oh that's so sad," she whispers, tears streaming down her face. "But what happened to the poor baby that it never hatched? They were so sad..."
Mornin' All ;)
Tam puts a hand on Aananda's shoulder, assuming his thought was at least close to the mark, given her reaction.
"Here - let me see it for a moment."
He wants to make sure her eyes go back to normal when she lets go of the amulet, but is also going to hit it with a detect magic / identify to see if there's anything more to it.

Hmmm. 'White' or 'Black' Necromancy?
Any ideas about what it's designed to do? I'll burn a Legend Lore (or equivalent) if needed.Feeling any better today sir?

"Hmmm. Despite the rather macabre appearance, it doesn't appear to be evil. It seems to have a lot of white necromantic energy tied to it. Something tells me we probably need this to help get out of the mess we're hip-deep in now."
He sighs.
"Time to test the waters I guess."
Tam opens the collar of his flightsuit and removes a necklace from around his throat. He then puts on the amulet.

He absently puts the amulet back in its box, his face lost in thought.
"Hmmm - interesting. Guess I'll need to throw a few more spells later to find out more about it...."
