Hopefully I'm seeing right that a 5 foot step will get Obi within range of E2? If so...

Obi takes a step forward, brandishing his rapier and deciding it's time to disarm another enemy!

Disarm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Human Cleric of Quell 7/ Ranger (Freebooter) 1; HP 75/75, AC 21 T: 15: FF 16; Fort +9; Ref +9; Will +9; Init +5; Per +14; CMB +6, CMD +22

Don't want to be a rule lawyer there, but Obi, you are hasted and blessed so you have a +2 to your disarm and a second possible disarm or attack

Oops! You are right! So that makes the 1st disarm 16...

If Successful Disarm:

Stabby!: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

If Unsuccessful:

Disarm: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 2 = 18

Ok, as I stll can't see the map can someone suggest:

* a square to move to that won't attract AoO's

where

* Morgan can harpoon another enemy, preferably one either in the water ready to be reeled in or on land wounded in order to take him out?

Harpoon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
In yer Guts: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Male Adopted Sugalo Tulita Fighter (Harpoonist) 1/ Yohunga 4; HP 42/42, AC 17 T: 13: FF 15; Fort +6; Ref +4; Will +6; Init +2; Per +5; CMB +6, CMD 18

If that's a hit and Morgan didn't need to move to throw:

Reel 'im in!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

His CMD is a 22 as he is a 6th level fighter so you failed twice. At least you didn't fail by 10!

True...How sad...

Did I hit or miss?

Do you mean failed twice meaning I didn't hit nor grapple, or I failed to grapple twice?

What about when I rolled a 1 for the first grapple? Were there no repercussions?

Sorry for being away, but things are better at work and home.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

@ MorganYou are not in a threatened square, however regardless of opponent you are not going to hit. Attacks from Land: Characters swimming, floating, or treading water on the surface, or wading in water at least chest deep, have improved cover (+8 bonus to AC, +4 bonus on Reflex saves) from opponents on land. In addition, the harpoon has a 10' range increment so it would be another -4 to hit. E2 is at 15' but is combat and you do not have precise shot so there is a -4 to hit. I would forego the attack and do something else. The only way you could hit E2 is to move through his threat zone and take the AOO to make a melee attack.

@Morgan Sorry you cross posted while I was typing to Obi. He missed his disarm twice. No, the repercussions were for Obi had he missed by 10 on his disarm, not your grapple.

Hmm. Still can't see/get the map. I guess I'll move to a better vantage point rather than throw harpoon.

Just something to think about - I think improved cover assumes the person on land is not above the person in the water. To suggest a person on a deck/wharf has trouble hitting a person below them in the water seems absurd to me, and quite likely to a trained harpoonist used to throwing harpoons at creatures in the water. Sure, humans tend to be perpendicular to the water's edge, rather than laterally arrayed but still. What you think?

While I get your point and you might get an adjustment remember you are only a 1st level harpoonist. I might give you a +2 circumstance bonus as the angle is almost perpendicular. You are about 5' up to 30' out. Also, you would miss by the range increment alone due to their AC. I will put you next to Silas as they are attempting to swim that direction.

You have a clear shot at E1 Jequette. Roll to hit if you are still here.

Got no spells left. 4 1st, 2 2nd.
First level:
Make whole x2 on Tiki, shield on self, burning hands on bad guys.
Second level:
Haste x2.

I should update my sheet, sorry...

As far as Enlarge goes, I was going to Enlarge Sandman/Nightmare Mask back in the Tavern - no idea he could do it himself...

Morgan's current AC is 21 due to shield.

What round are we in - Haste lasts only for first four rounds...

Beth steps closer to E1 and her scimitar lashes at him leaving a large cut.

scimitar attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 29, damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

If E1 is still standing, she attacks a second time
scimitar haste attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 23, damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13[/spoiler]

Otherwise, she looks from her spot and, seeing E2 is getting surrounded points at him "If he is like the one on the deck, he's favoring his right side. Just come at him from the left."
Activating Freebooter's call: every one (and the dragoons too) get a +1 attack and damage vs E2

Obi flourishes the blade in his hand, swirling patterns flickering off the highly polished metal as he mock thrusts at the man who so held his blade against his practiced disarm, before going in for a two angled thrust.

Feint: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Thrust: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 29
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

Thrust: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6

Confirm Thrust 1: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 20
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Beth finishes off E1 with her critical. Obi unfortunately I will have to hold your rolls until your initiative (they get to act first). E2 takes a 5' step back as he has a reach weapon and takes his last attacks against D3 and D4.

ranseur: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 232d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 = 15
ranseur: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 232d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3) + 9 = 16

The swimmers that make their swim checks make it to the other wharf only to find Morgan and Silas there. Having only daggers at this point and most of them badly wounded, they surrender.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

D3 withdraws being staggered. D1,D2 and D4 reload. I will now let Obi's action go killing E2. S3 being surrounded and badly injured, surrenders.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

XP: The challenge rating of the encounter is somewhat reduced as you were acting in conjunction with the dragoons. Adding them up, they are only worth the equivalent of 3 of you so I figure the XP for the party to be 1688. I will give an extra 100 to Obi for trying to stay in character.
You will have a very short time to question the smugglers before they are hauled off to Fort Stormshield.
Afterwards, the party is invited to a dinner in their honor at the Kraken's Gullet the next day by Gregory Bonedeuce.

Female Human Wizard (Evoker) 5

Should it be possible to ask a few questions before the dragoons haul off the smugglers ...

Nice roll, but as they know that the sooner they talk the sooner they hang the DC will be 21 (20+1for Chr add)

Well then, how about a good ol' fashioned assist from crazy Obi? :)

Aid Another (Diplomacy): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

That adds +2

So now we just need one more assist and we're good.

Seems only Beth made her perception roll. Sandman and Jequette were busy attempting to get information from the smugglers it seems.

And Obi was...oblivious! He probably found a bug crawling along the docks, and thought it was a polymorphed tulitan druid trying to make sure they stopped these nasty smugglers. And, of course, Obi didn't want to break its cover, so he "pretended" to be oblivious of everything.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Lol, Obi I think that was a roach! They are big around here.

That's what he WANTED you to think! He's really a well-respected Elder! I promise, I'm not crazy this time. Why? Well, of course I could understand him talking to me. Why didn't you hear him? Well, because you were too busy attempting to gather information. I was being a lookout.

He did not inhale. Just waiting on Beth to point out Garreg to us (don't you just love that level of fear to stay) as I was even more distracted than Obi.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

On that note the Dragoons will haul off the smugglers to the Fort. They tell you to stop by the Fort in the morning as they are sure that their commander Gregory Bonedeuce will wish to thank you personally.

At which point Garreg will step from the shadows where he was hiding.

Me thinks Obi been smoking something more potent than Dragonsmoke!
