Ephemeral GameMaster

FYI, my physical relocation of all earthly possessions is occurring over the course of this week. I apologize for any delays as materials and other things may be scrambled for a while. If I get a chance this evening, I am going to complete some reading and should have a more comprehensive post for you. Sorry for the delay.

How about we take...

  • Hand axe
  • +1 Magic Sword
  • 1 bag of caltrops
  • 2 coils of rope,
  • spool of wire
  • 2 small tents,
  • 4 torches,
  • a lantern,
  • mirror shard,
  • 12 gp, 34 sp, 56 cp,
  • various assortment of jewelry worth 18 gp,
  • a couple of journals,
  • miscellaneous utensils, plates, tankard
  • two bottles of wine,
  • enough dried meat, hard cheese and bread to make 7 rations of food,
  • single compass

Then the family can sell(barring what Hektor wants like the bow & arrows):
Several canvas bags, a backpack, 2 handaxes, 3 spears, 3 swords , 6 daggers, 3 bows (1 masterwork currently being used by Hecktor), 34 arrows, 1 crossbow, 13 crossbow bolts, , coil of rope, spool of wire, several dirty bedrolls, a couple spare sets of clothing, blankets, a set of false teeth, small cask of ale (half empty).

  • Dark Archive

    Female Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 1/Hierophant 1; Init +2; Perception +3; HP 14/14

I figured we would be returning to the huts as a starting point to rescue the father, so there is no point taking heavy stuff that isn't valuable - plates, tankards, etc. Anyone who plays Skyrim learns that quickly!

I think we should take the easily transportable valuables: magic sword, cash, jewelry, journals, compass, caltrops for sure. If anybody needs a bow or crossbow, we should take those, too. Lanterns and oil as well, since we do not want to be caught in the dark. Leave the rest at the huts for when we return, unless you want to take the weapons so nobody can snag them to use against us.

My only idea for the weapons, would been to give a couple to the Ferryman to sell for the family. Depending upon how many spares we need, or if we want to leave a cache just in case.

Pieter has 1 pint of oil & it looks like it'll be 1:20am before we get to the huts. Of course, Pieter has no night vision - but is fool-hardy enough if we wish to brave it.

So most importantly, who wants the Magic +1 sword? Pieter is fine with his current equipment.

    Sovereign Court

    Male Oread Armour Master/1 Guardian/1

If no one else wants it Belgeon could probably make use of the sword, but he does have an heirloom scimitar which is slightly better than the norm so if someone else wants it they can have it.

What kind of sword is it?

    Ephemeral GameMaster

The basic run of the mill longsword.

I apologize for the continued delay. I am going to make a marked effort to get all of my RPG material consolidated in order to get the maps and battle information ready for you this weekend. For any who don't know, I started a second job and the training is this week, so lots of extra hours for pinvendor.

    Ephemeral GameMaster

Yes, the interminable delay that plagues my GMingness...my apologies.

If it is any consolation, I have located the maps and stuff...just need the minis and tokens which I think got put in the garage. Hopefully, I will have them located and set up by the end of the week.

Hugs for the awesome GM, don't worry.... moving is such a hassle.

    Ephemeral GameMaster

OKay...we're almost ready. Went through the pile of prepainted PF minis and found some that will work for your PCs. Sorry they are not perfect, but for the logistics of the map, they should be fine.

So you will be able to recognize yourselves on the maps once prepared:

I know I promised to have the battle up tonight, but sorting through the minis and finding some for your foes was a chore, lol. Plus once I got off of work...I needed to get out of here! pinprincess and I ran all over and what not, so was pretty busy. At least I have everything ready to go, and I should be able to start the preliminary posting. After we get some of my narrative and description for you guys out of the way, I should be able to build the map correctly. Expect that tomorrow unless work is busier than expected.

Surely it shouldn't have taken you too long to find the collosal dragon (our foe) :P

Yep, that's really cool and seems like a ton of work. Thanks for doing all of this, Mr Amazing GM, Sir.

    Female Human Monk 1/Champion 1; Init +1; Perception +8; HP 18/18

I say we hide and scout. We've no idea what we are facing here.

Apologies, for posting in the IC thread last night with OoC suggestions, but I was super ZZzzzzzzzzzz

    Ephemeral GameMaster

I have given it some thought, and I am thinking we should kind of re-boot. As far as our little story is concerned, we can assume you save a few of the caravan refuges and a couple bandits from the spider den. Then returning to Zelkor's Ferry you hear about another "less" deadly entrance.

The most recent update from FGG for the Rappan Athuk included a low level area which would probably still be tough, but not as tough as some of these random encounters can be.

I know it's been a while since we started and interest may have waned. If you guys think that would help make this more fun, let me know.

I am prepared to run this encounter and whether you end up in combat or not would be your choice. I want to see Mythic playtest actually go bonkers if we can.

My enthusiasm hasn't waned too much, but I think a string of encounters would be fun. Encounters that we can actually handle, without blowing all our resources in 1 fight.

So whether we diplomance/fight our way out of this or just hand wave it. Followed by a paragraph about is stumbling upon a hole in the ground & entering....

    Dark Archive

    Female Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 1/Hierophant 1; Init +2; Perception +3; HP 14/14

Even with mythic add-ons, I doubt we could take the horde of bandits at their levels. L1 is far too fragile for that.

    Sovereign Court

    Male Oread Armour Master/1 Guardian/1

Agreed, it would be interesting to see how far we could go fighting a ton of bandits, but I don't think we have half a chance of actually coming out on top. A few somewhat smaller encounters could be good.

    Ephemeral GameMaster

Alright then. I will get something written up for the narrative and get the new RA stuff loaded on my Kindle for use away from home. I am keeping my spreadsheet for this encounter though...I will be dropping it on you once I think you're ready. Mwahaha!

    MWAH-HA-HAAA

Spreadsheet? what sort of sheet do you use for encounters?

    Ephemeral GameMaster

I just typed up a grid on MS Excel. Nothing fancy. Just needed to keep things organized. Initiative, AC, HP fluctuations, that sort of crap.

    That sounds organised, well done.

Yeah, if 12 archers fire at us...2 will crit & 3 will hit, per round; thus we'd be in trouble.

So, we are going to jump to the next section?

I think us players need to work out how much loot we have got already! And who has got what.

    Ephemeral GameMaster

Alright gang, having two jobs is just kicking my ass. I just haven't had any time to devote to getting things set up. How interested are you in pursuing this? If there is a lot of interest, I can make some time to get all of this finalized and ready for you. Otherwise, I would probably put this on hiatus, and maybe come back to it after having a chance to read and understand the updates they have made to the Beta Playtest rules.

    Let me know.

I am very interested in continuing (at some point), however a hiatus sounds good, as I would rather that you didn't burn yourself out. Or feel guilty about not rumbling on with both games.

And Serpents Skull is going well.

Now if we really had to crack on, I may be able to GM it. Not sure how I'd do the maps.

No problem here. I am overcommitted, overtaxed, and overwhelmed as it is. Hiatus is good.

True, if all my pbp's are active then I'll be at full stretch. (Especially with Mafia games)
