the gold was in my quiver when I went to take a bath, but is gone now wade says, his hair still lightly damp from his long soak, "harken is also missing, I can accept it if those who sprung us took it as partial payment for service rendered, it would have been nice had try asked or even demanded as opposed to simply taking it when we weren't looking, but they have done us a service greater than three times that amount of gold, but if that brute stole it, firstly I will reexamine my estimation of him, I didn't think he had it in him, then I will kill him"

At last Tiadora leads you to a beautifully appointed office richly decorated with dark wood and sumptuous brocade tapestry. Sitting in a leather high-backed chair is a devilishly handsome fellow who smiles as you enter. There are others in the room with you that you do not know. Zyx is standing next to the seated man as you enter whispering in his ear.
He looks at you and says “I believe you to be the first to ever escape from Branderscar Prison. Well done! Of course, you had help from the outside,” He smiles a wicked smile. “But enough with the pleasantries. You must be curious why I’ve helped you. Rest assured this is no random act of altruism. I have brought you here for a reason. My name is Cardinal Adrastus Thorn. I am the last high priest of Asmodeus left on the island of Talingarde. Once the Prince of Nessus was rightly revered alongside the other great powers. Now, the king of Talingarde has become a puppet to Mitran fanatics who wish to destroy any religion that does not bow to their insipid sun god. For their blasphemy, I will see the same people who imprisoned and condemned you suffer. I understand what you went through for I have faced it myself.”
With that, he pulls down the sleeve of his robe and reveals his own runic ‘F’ brand. “I am going to burn Talingarde to the ground and from the ashes I will build a new nation that knows its rightful master. I cannot do this alone. I seek servants worthy of our Infernal Father’s majesty. Have I found them in you?” He rises and his eyes flash with hellfire and divine purpose. “Join me! Serve me well in this holy endeavor and I will raise you up in the eyes of gods and men. I will make you princes of the new Talingarde. Today, swear fealty to me and to Asmodeus.”

Before you can respond a large armored and muscular ork brings a hooded prisoner in chains into the room. ”Before you answer let me show you the penalty for failure or betrayal. Thank you Gorgo. This man stole from me and stole from you. And then he tried to leave here after the gifts I gave him made him better. I will allow him to leave but first I must take back my gift.”
The hood is removed and you see Harken in those chains with a tortured body. He tries to speak but his tongue has been taken. Cardinal Thorn stands up and raises his arms out to Harken, whose body goes stiff at first, then starts to shake. The more Cardinal Thorn concentrates the more Harkens body convulses. Harken tries to scream out in pain but no sound is made. Finally the pain stops as Harkens heart is viciously ripped from his chest and flies to Cardinal Thorns hands. The Cardinal simply drains Harkens heart of the liquid you all imbibed in the prison, the liquid that makes you stronger. Harkens body crumples onto the floor, devoid of life. The large armored ork drags the body out with a meat hook as slaves begin cleaning the mess on the floor. Cardinal Thorn looks at the rest of you, throws a bag of coin at your feet and coldly asks ”Does anyone else want to leave here?”

as bracnos looks at the slaves cleaning the blood he begins to smile until a wide wicked grin is I. His face

"yes, give me my revenge help me become the demon they fear. .I'll join you"

stepping forward bracnos bends his head and lifted his head

Wade nods while I make a token objection to the lable of servant, I acknowledge that not only am I in your debt, our goals also align, for I too wish those who have wronged me to burn for their offences against me.

Graz'ul is awakened by one of the servants and told he is to meet the Master. He grunts in acknowledgement and gets out of the tub. He dries himself and dresses in the clothes provided. As he descends the stairs, he can hear the others arguing about Harken stealing the gold.

As Graz'ul approaches them, he shrugs his shoulders.

"We're out. Let the bastard have it. There's always more gold."

The group is lead into the room and the scene with Thorn is played out.}

Graz'ul halfheartedly stifles a chuckle.

"Hells, it's not the first time I've been a 'servant'. Where do I sign?"

"I can agree to these terms. For now..."

"His name is Razul and he will be an asset to the team or he will go the way of the one you called Harken. Asmodeous does not accept failure"

playing with the necklace of teeth she recently made Annak looks at the Cardinal and says..."I also am at your service. let them all burn!"

Razul coolly appraises this new party.
Ah, a group that has shown some competence, Brandescar no less, perhaps this will work out much better than the previous endeavor.

"Aye, I too swear fealty. It shall be a pleasure restoring the rightful order of things."

“Excellent. Let us make it official. Signing in blood is traditional.” He brings out a quill, a silver ritual knife and two copies of a contract written on some unidentifiable leather (flayed lemure skin) and written in dark red ink (powdered garnet mixed with fresh blood, very fresh blood) – the Pact of Thorns (see spoiler). He lets the you keep one copy of the contract. The other, he takes. “Well done. Your first command: prepare yourselves. Stay within the manor. You are still hunted by the Talirean soldiery. In three days we begin your training.”

"Please try to remember the third Loyalty..." he says departing looking at Wade and Bracnos...

After the master leaves Tiadora speaks to the party. "Stay in the manor, do not venture outside. If you need a slave for some...personal attentions pick one out. Also you have 200 gp credit from the master, plus whatever you acquired from your escape, to purchase whatever gear you need for your activities. Provide a list of what you need to this slave attendant and they will see your gear is appropriated. I shall check on you all from time to time. Prepare yourselves.".. and with that she turns and leaves. Each of you find a slave behind you with a money pouch.

Wade frowns "I'm not likening that this contract has no end date...

you are an Asmodeous worshiper to begin with, your contract with him runs for life... and possibly even after that part ends...

until this point no, he didn't worship asmodious, or anyone else for that matter, and he has not signed any permanent contracts either. but even still he's fine with article one lasting forever, and article four for that matter, his objection is to the eternal servant hood to this priest guy, and to a much lesser extent being forever barred from killing Bracnos, now if it were, say 20 or 30 years, he would sign with no objections, payment for services rendered, but he's a member of a long lived race, and he's on the path of vampirism, a lifetime is a long time, and there's no indication that death would even end it.

bracnos turn to look at Wade telling him
" if you read the words that are written you'll see the end date is your death"

Once bracnos sings he walks up to wade

" but don't worry now that we're free, we will keep each other alive for will have to. or or suffer the punishment of the master. Hahaha "

bracnos takes out a small knife and cuts the palm of his hand holding it for all to see and as he turns to wade

" I'll do my best to keep death from taking you. As I'm sure you will do the same for me, let's make our true enemies burn! Hahaha"

"no see look at the beginning, "never be unbound" and at the end "even in the face of death and damnation" this heavily implies that death would not be the end of it

he could always take his gift back if you want to bow out...Harken gave it back...

please say something to this effect, or whatever else you want in character, I'mtrting to role play, this game isn't just about dice

"well it seems to me we were going to be killed in the morning had we stayed in the prison no? Then that being the case we do owe them our lives and if we die serving we may come back to serve in a new form. Or we could be like Harkon and have them take back that life that they gave us. To me this doesn't seem like chains it feels like a chance ...a chance I will not pass up what about you the master did not seem to take this lightly."

The Cardinal comes back into the room to collect the contracts and sees something disturbing..."I see you have not signed the contract yet angelkin? What ails you? Broken hand? Suspicions? Lack of Faith in Asmodeous, or perhaps in yourself for what lies ahead...?

I did not sign on to be your slave, no offence intended, I have no problems with article one or four, but that artical two is eternal gives me some significant pause, twenty, fourty years, perfectly fine, eternity even after death, significantly less so

"then I would like that clearly defined in the contract and what would constitute being "great" perhaps being one of the top ten dieties worshiped in the area, some might say that out of the hundreds of gods out there top ten would be great, others would say top five, still others would say 30% or so, others would liken it to having a couple lavious buildings dedicated to the deity being "great" what is yor definition, once I know that and it is put in the contract I will likely have no problem signing,

The Cardinal raises his voice over the insolent aasimar..."How dare you bargain over the power of Asmodeous! You make no demands with the First of the Fallen. The contract will end when Asmodeous is the most powerful over all or you no longer fit in his plans. If that is not to your liking then this conversation is at an end."He regains his composure and continues "A pity. So much wasted time and effort. Tiadora, shred him if he does not sign the contract, or shred any of them if they fail to sign, make them suffer. Gorgo attend me!”

Tiadora begins to walk behind the party and the hulking ork brute walks in with his greataxe....

Annak inches closer to Wade...'what are you doing fool?! Sign the contract and worry about getting out of it in the future. Don't fight this man on his terms, when he is prepared for it, that is not the way of Asmodeous...'...Annak dips a quill into the red ink and signs her name to it. Then she stands away from Wade in case things continue to escalate.

Syldran quietly signs the contract.

Razul turns to the one hesitant member.

"Do you not already serve Asmodeous? How does this change things for you? As to the Cardinal, he is supreme amongst Asmodeous's followers now. However, notice the hierarchy of the Loyalties. If the future should hold that you surpass him in importance to Asmodeous then you shall not be bound by such anymore. It is the natural order that the strong should have mastery over those less strong. You wish to achieve greatness, here is the means for such. Think clearly on this and you shall see the wisdom in this choice."

With that Razul turns to the document and signs himself.

"There, it is done."
Looking to the others he says, "Remember, our Lord brooks no disloyalty nor incompetence. Put whatever petty squabbles you have aside, for our enemies will be many and united and only with discipline and devotion will we be able to defeat them."

if everyone signs it then refer to Tiadora's post above. make your list and whatever else you want to RP in those three days. Annak has a new set of teeth waiting for her in her chambers.

Annak spends her three days fashioning her fetish with the new teeth, practicing with her bow, practicing her hexes on the unsuspecting slaves, and taking a bath.

Graz'ul signs the contract. He then grabs a piece of parchment and scratches out his list. He hands the list and a small bag of extra gold to the slave responsible for requisitions.

He sits in one of the chairs and looks over at Thorn.

"What now, boss?"

"Before I depart for other attentions, prepare yourselves and heed the instructions of the angelkin. He is brash and questioning but I find it amusing that a celestial spawn will be the instrument of Asmodeous. I place him in charge of you so heed his commands but if he fails me or you, then he won't last long and one of you may find yourself in his place as leader. However if you fail him then you may find yourself sitting next to the one called Harken in the afterlife..."and with that the Cardinal leaves...
