Are you hitting that crawl should be taken literally, or that it's a funny reference to the term "dungeon crawling" by the author of the scenario? Or both? ;-)
Aetherys sends her unseen servant down the hall, to the south, and orders it to stop twenty feet after the turn of the hall, then make his way back.

"I'm guessing that something around head or waist height cuts those who are too tall down to size.." mutters Rhuul.

Kuraishimo will make sure his mage armor is fresh.

Happy to oblige and make people laugh! :)
Does anything happen to my servant? If there's a trap I'd be more than happy if he triggered it and took one for the team.
"Perhaps we should act like obedient servants? It must have been a temple, so maybe we should grovel?"
Is anyone else thinking about Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade here? "Only the penitent man will pass" kind of trap?
Oloch //Pregen
|
"I wouldn't grovel even bedore Gorum himself for it is an act of weakness! But i'll allow someone go 1st if you wish"
Kuraishimo
|
Kuraishimo ponders the hallway, using detect magic to try and determine the effect.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Kuraishimo looks over to Aetherys "Can you make out the aura?"
Rhuul Irontoe

Rhuul also examines the corridor with his enchanted sight.
Casts detect magic
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Oloch //Pregen

While his companions looking into the corridor, Oloch prays to Gorum
"May Gorum lead our way and feel our hearts with ferocity to crush unseen enemies"
Casting Guidance on everyone
Aetherys Dawnblade
|
"I'm guessing my servant is gone. Perhaps we should move forward and try to imitate those cultists on the walls and kneel? Perhaps even crawl in this hallway?" suggests Aetherys. "Who wants to go first?"
Rhuul Irontoe
|
"There is a nasty spell there that will weaken but not kill. Well, not unless you are already very weak." mentions Rhuul.
"I have no idea if it will go off several times, generally magical traps... don't. But generally mimics don't dine on dwarves either."
Oloch //Pregen
|
"Crawl if you wish..I'll just follow you, but you may anger Gorum and he'll refuse to give me powers to support you in battle"
Tesi wrote:Actions are taken by turn. OK?Is there any way you can cast guidance on 6 peeps in one turn?
Nope, it took 6 rounds, but concentrating enough to determine loacation of magic aura with detect magic takes 3 rounds. And i think my fellow companions don't mind waiting for 36 seconds of little buff)
Rhuul Irontoe

Rhuul pats Oloch on the back. "I tend to agree. No dwarf enjoys grovelling."
He flexes his arms a bit "Not that we enjoy horrible painful spells either."
Aetherys Dawnblade

Guidance lasts for 1 minute or until expended, iirc. By the time you finish buffing the whole group, you almost need to recast it on your first target.

Yup, but anyone may step in the trap within 4 rounds and +1 to saves may help)
Kuraishimo

Tired of waiting Kuraishimo casts magic circle against evil on himself and crosses the hallway.

Fort Kuraishimo: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 16
Fort Kuraishimo: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 2 = 11
---gah.
Kurai falls to the floor and starts to scream, his body contorting. The pustules around him glow.
Kurai takes 1d6 NONLETHAL damage per round he is on the ground until he makes two consecutive fort saves. He is also sickened, and that affects the following save rolls :(.
Round 1
NONLETHAL DMG on Kurai: 1d6 ⇒ 4

fort: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 2 = 10
fort: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11
"OW OW OW"
"AHHHHHHHHHH!"
Rhuul Irontoe

Seeing the half demon writing on the floor, Rhuul notes
"looks like Kura decided to kowtow anyway.." but while his words are a little harsh, there is a lighter side to them.
Uses a round of inspire courage and then
"But this is no time for laying down on the job, get up!"
Uses saving finale to let Kura reroll a failed save. I'm guessing setting this up would take a round, so it would be that 9 on round 3 that he can try again. I'll knock off a first level spell and two rounds of performance.
Kuraishimo
|
save reroll: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 - 2 = 24
"Less Ow."
Rhuul Irontoe
|
"Well.. that was not nice..." notes the dwarf.
He again examines the corridor with his magical vision, to see if there is any change in the trap.
Detects magic again
| Tesi |
Kurai: actually you rolled
fort: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 2 = 14 + 2 PfE
fort: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 2 = 22 + 2 PfE
You saved twice (round 5 and 6). You are no longer sickened.
Kuraiskimo describes what happened as if pain came from the ceiling and forced him to grovel.
The magical aura is still there, but the spell effect is gone. Rhuul, with your knowledge, you'd say it won't go on for 1 day.
Rhuul Irontoe
|
the saving finale should have hopefully kicked in in round three shouldn't it?
"I think this particular trap won't trigger for another day... but we had best be careful. I'm starting to think bringing a dedicated trap monkey with us would have been a good plan..."
Kuraishimo
|
Kuraishimo will use 2 charges of his infernal healing wand to remove the non-lethal.
Afterwards he will stand up, dusthimself off, straighten out his tentacled beard and comment "lets put that behind us."
Rhuul Irontoe

Rhuul slots himself into the group, peering ahead with his darkvision and keeping a detect magic spell up and running in case of similar traps up ahead.

As soon as the group reaches the intersection, Valais joins them to take a closer look at the statue. A black marble statue stands at the intersection. It is a hulking humanoid with elephantine feet and large razor-sharp horns covering its body. Spiky script carved into the plinth compounds the sinister nature of the figure. As she gazes at the statue, Valais winces slightly and raises a hand to the demonic half of her face.
“This must be MY GRAND COUNTENANCE. Here’s our proof that we are in the right place. I was thinking that we should TURN LEFT.” Valais’s eyes widen slightly as she continues, “No, we should not turn left. YOU. WILL. TURN. LEFT! What I’m trying to say is that we should look around carefully before proceeding TO THE LEFT, WORMS!” Valais raises her voice, “Before proceeding in whichever direction you choose. The demons have never been this insistent before. We must be close to our destination.”
Rhuul Irontoe
|
"Interesting.." notes Rhuul.
"How much control over those demon voices do you have? Is there anything we can do to help?" he asks, concern in his voice.
Then, he directs a question to the voice itself.
"What is to the left?"
| Tesi |
"I do not know what's to the left SO GO LEFT. I do not know whats to the right either BUT YOUR DOOM AND SUFFERING."
”Well… It’s a sign that we are on the right track. Besides, this gives me a chance to learn what I sound like most of the time. YOU WILL HEAR AND OBEY. I’d heard that demon spoke with an inflated sense of self-importance, but it’s fascinating to observe it myself. YOU WILL REGRET YOUR IMPUDENCE WHEN YOU COWER AT MY FEET.”
Rhuul Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
There's something in Valais voice. She is concerned too. Maybe there's something else. You are not quite sure, but you decide to focus on the matter at task: the statue and the corridors going both sides.
What will it be, brave heroes?
Rhuul Irontoe
|
"Can you go over your story and how you are fused with this demon one more time Valais? If we follow its advice - which is rarely a good idea with demons - could it be leading us to a way that it could usurp control of you? What are its motives really?"
He looks left and right to see what can be seen. And then peers at the statue in a bit more detail
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

Rhuul tries to identify the auras
left corridor spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
right corridor spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
"Tricky... Corridor to the left will possibly attack our minds, that to the right.. our bodies."
Kuraishimo
|
"After that last hallway, left sounds better to me, stay close my circle may protect us."
Rhuul Irontoe
|
"Ohh....." he says, odd bits of lore coming back to him..
"A blade barrier to the right.. that would hurt. And a symbol of persuasion to the left. That would be nasty if it made whoever turn against their allies. But I think a protection from evil spell would help against that.."
Kuraishimo
|
"My circle is good for quite some time, stay near me and we should be okay."
Aetherys Dawnblade
|
"You said that magic traps never reset, right? Allow me to sacrifice an unseen servant for our cause." Aetherys uses another of her scrolls and asks the mindless servant to tread on the right corridor to set off the trap.
Rhuul Irontoe
|
"I said I didn't think it would reset soon. I suspect tomorrow it may reset. Whether that is the dawning of the sun, or 24 hours, or next moonrise... I'm no skilled magician to know the details."
Oloch //Pregen
|
"Anyway I don'y think we wont to stay here till the next day..let's move to a maximum sistance where wee can sacrifice servants and see what we can find. I wish we skip theese traps quickly to face the real enemy whom we crush!"
