Also now is the time to finalize boon slots. There isn't any special boons that can be used for this.

Aegis-9 is competent at Science, Piloting, and Gunnery. However, with each of those skills, coupled with his Diplomacy, he probably serves best as a captain.
Slotted boons:
Social: Faction's Friend
Starship: Hero of the Stars
Ally: Collector and Examiner
Slotless: Marked Field Agent, Theoretical Historian

Gizzmo-5 can take any role on the ship except Captain. He has Engineering +9, Gunner +8, Piloting +6, Science Officer-Computers +9 or Physical Science +8. So wherever he's needed he'll go.

BTW Gizzmo-5, I'm not sure you have the right number of gunnery. Should be:
Gunnery Check = 1d20 + the gunner’s base attack bonus or the gunner’s ranks in the Piloting skill + the gunner’s Dexterity modifier + bonuses from computer systems + bonuses from the captain and science officers + range penalty
If my math is right, Gizzmo-5 would be a +3 Gunnery.

I'm not sure where you got +3 from. Gizzmo-5's Piloting skill is a +6 and his Dex is a +2 for a total of +8.

Gunnery is RANKS in piloting, not the final skill total. So at level one you can have at most one rank in piloting. Gunnery will be less than your final piloting skill since you will not get any class or trait bonus to it.

Quick errata in case anyone is keeping track, I realized Vylit's piloting is +9, not +8 (1 rank, 4 dex, 3 class bonus (from connection), 1 theme bonus). Forgot the connection made piloting a class skill when doing the numbers. +10 when in a Tier 2 Pegasus.
Also, does the group have opinions about when to use the ship's MK 1 Duonode bonuses (+1 bonus to two checks per round)?

So, what I was going to ask previously, and I apologize if this is a very noon question, this is my first Star Finder Game- what does a node do for the gunnery roll?

The ship we're in has "Mk 2 Duonode Computer". It provides a +2 bonus to any two skill checks per round. With a duonode (two checks), I usually like to give a bonus to the best gun and the pilot initiative. Giving a bonus to a critical eng action (like fixing a glitching system) can also make sense. It's just a +2 modifier to whatever checks we use it on.

As for the ship, there is a static +1 piloting bonus and then two +1s for the computer. I will go with pilot initiative and best gunnery until otherwise requested
