Kale "Seascum" |

"The middle one." Kale leaves and returns shortly with the cash.
Now I think I can feel good about taking Double Slice as a feat. I might even retrain Big Game Hunter to be Power Attack while I'm at it.

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"Ok no problem! Come back in twelves days. I will start immediately. You want some fancy theme etched on the belt? How about a sweet belt buckle, like a giant pewter dragon?"
He pulls a quill from behind his ear dabbing it in an inkwell and starts scribbling down reagents, and magical supplies.

Janji |

Janji waltzes up to Bartleby's shop, significantly scalier than when they last met. "Pardon me, good friend. I don't suppose you could make me a cloak that makes me a bit harder to kill? I'm not feeling particularly confidant in my strength right now."

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"OK I can do the middle enchantment."+3 cloak"If we split the difference on market cost and base cost, I will only charge you 6750gp. You will be that much closer to the next level, or can buy something else. I can have it done in a week."

Withal Selrun |

Withal slides into Bartleby's shop, his armored companion striding in behind him, "Morning little man. I was hoping you might be able to help me out."
Unbuckling the rapier from his hip, he sets it before the halfling, "I'm rather fond of this old thing but work's getting more and more dangerous. I'm hoping you might be able to infuse it with a little divine kick?", he taps the burnished breastplate on his chest, "Wouldn't mind you taking a look at this too. What would either run me, Bartleby is it?"
Just looking for a +1 on both if it's not too much trouble.

Rifiki |

A well dressed Drow goes to the middle of the market. He looks around, a large grin on his face at how well everything is going. He casts a quick spell, and levitates a few feet in the air.
Excuse me everyone, if we haven't met yet my name is Rifiki and I own my Emporium of Magic. Business has been good, and I would like to pass along my good fortune to all. There is a twist though, it will be a lottery. Pick a number between 1 and 20. The winner get a free Runeward Tattoo from a good friend of mine. I will announce the winner in no more than one weeks time.

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"A pleasure to meet you Withal!" squeaks the tiny halfling, standing on the counter top. He inspects the weapon and armor. "Very well, I can enchant these. It will take me about three days. How does 2250 gp sound?" He extends a tiny hand.

Withal Selrun |

Withal shakes the halfling's hand before placing a pouch filled with platinum and several small but high quality gems, "This should cover it my diminutive friend. I'll see you in a couple days."
So do you have the days to make it now or do we need to wait until another encounter starts?

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

"Natural 1."

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

I have lots of wondrous items for sale! Pearls of power, headbands of intellegence... . Well, I guess that's all I have for sale at the moment, but I do special orders!

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"Sooooo.... who can make rings that do magical things? " she ponders loudly, looking about
-Posted with Wayfinder
"Hello Kit, long time no see! I can make rings."

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"Ahhhh." squeaks the tiny halfling. "Yes, a ring of invisibility. Well I can make those. Since you and I are old adventuring pals, how about we split the difference in cost, and I only charge 15,000gp?"

Kit'Arr |

"I only have 10 000 on me. I can pay you back later? But if I have to wait, i will." she chuckles
"By the way. I have my own friend now! Say hi to my shadow... no. Not that one." she points to her shadow. Then to behind Bartleby "That one! It's name is Blip. Say hello Blip"
"Hello Blip" comes a whispy reply
She puts her paw to her forhead
"Sorry... it's still learning..."

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"Fascinating!" Bartleby tries to poke or touch the shadow.
{b]"Well, ok you can owe me 5,000 gp. I will get to work when I finish my physical training. Trying to buff up a bit."[/b]
"Check out my new friend too."
In the back of the shop Bartleby shows you his new undead dragon.

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

"Well, it sure is dead around here. Hey barkeep, you want to have a wizard's duel? I'll go easy on you, honest."

Rifiki |

Rifikki looks up to you, and gives you a sinister grin, like only a Drow knows how to do. He waves you over to his table, Bartholomew, come here my dear boy.
As you sit down, he gestures for another round.
So, I hear you want to have a wizards duel? I dabbled in wizardry back in the day. Care to have a go at it. I will put up a flask of my finest brandy if you win.

Bartleby Nutmeg |

Bartleby sits ON the table in the corner sipping Hibiscus tea from a tiny tea cup that still requires he use both hands. The hulking ape Martin sits quietly nearby munching a spiced banana smoothie.
Bartleby claps his hands eagerly together squealing in glee. "Wizard duel, wizard duel! Two men enter, one man leaves!"

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

Oh, I completely forgot about my challenge :O
"And if you win, I will agree to muck out the stables. Now it's just a friendly duel to practice skills. Magic only. No killing. No summoning. No using physical weapons. Once the foe is unconscious or unable to cast for one minute, the duel is won. Prepare your spells and meet me in the field by the stream at noon!

Rifiki |

Rifiki bows to you.
I shall see you then my friend. I hope you enjoy the smell of the stables, as he give you an evil grin
A few hours go by, and you are greeted by the Drow at the field outside of town.
Are you ready young man? Remember, I used to dabble, so my skills may be a bit...rusty. He than extends his hand to shake yours.
You each pace 15 paces away from each other, so there is 30 of luscious green grass between the two of you. There is an independent person, towards the sideline, who is holding a "starting pistol".
After a few tense moment, the pistol makes a loud crash breaking the silence.

Dueling Counter
Each participant in a duel can take a special action once per round called a dueling counter. A dueling counter is similar to a counterspell, but is easier to use.
When a dueling opponent tries to cast a spell, the targeted spellcaster can make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + the spell's level) as a free action. If the check succeeds, she identifies her opponent's spell and can attempt a dueling counter. If it fails, she cannot attempt a dueling counter against that spell.
A dueling counter is an immediate action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. To attempt a dueling counter, the countering duelist must expend a spell or a spell slot of a level equal to or higher than that of the spell being cast. Note that characters who cast spells spontaneously (such as bards and sorcerers) must choose what exact spell they are using to counterspell in addition to the slot being used. The countering duelist must then make a caster level check against a DC of 15 + the spell's caster level. Unlike when using a true counterspell action (which requires a readied action), even expending an exact copy of the spell being cast does not guarantee success. The caster attempting the counterspell receives a bonus or penalty on her check depending upon the level of the spell slot expended and the exact spell used, as noted in Table 2–3. If the check is successful, the spell is countered—it is negated and the spell is lost. If not, the spell happens as normal and the duelist attempting to counter the spell takes a –2 penalty on any saving throws made against the spell's effect.
Alternatively, a spellcaster can use dispel magic or greater dispel magic as a dueling counter. When a dueling spellcaster does so, she does not need to identify the spell being cast, can counter a spell of any level, and must succeed at a caster level check against a DC of 11 + the spell's caster level. When dispel magic is used as a dueling counter, it is not modified by any of the circumstances in Table 2–3.
Because readying to counterspell is its own action, a participant can choose to ready to counterspell and make a dueling counter in the same round. This is only useful if the participant is facing multiple opponents or someone with access to Quickened Spell or other abilities that allow casting two spells in the same round.
Table: Dueling Counter Modifiers Circumstance Check Modifier
Spell is of a different school –2
Spell is of the same school, but not the same spell +2
Spell is of a higher level than the spell being counterer +1 per level higher
Spell is the same as the spell being countered +10

DC 16 spellcraft to know "color spray". Theb make a CL check and read the dueling counter spoiler for more info on rules and bonuses

casterlevel check to counter, burning my color spray spell: 1d20 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 6 = 16
ooo, did that just barely get it? I think it did
That should have been an immediate action. On my initiative, Bart will cast vanish, and move out of range.

Rifiki |

You actually got a +10, as you used the same spell, *I think*, so you easily made the check.
Bartholomew, casts his own color spray, just as Rifkiki finishes the last gesture. The spell fizzles, and Rifiki smiles.
Impressive young man, but don't think that are the only tricks up my sleeve.
Bartholomew, you begin to cast a spell, and Rifiki tries to identify it.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Hmm, interesting, you are wanting to vanish? I wonder what idea you have, well I will have none of that.
He doesn't counter it, as he wants to save the spell.
perception to hear where you went: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
I need you to roll a stealth check, which I think you make even on a 1, since it would be 1+10 (vanish).
Hmm, maybe I should have countered it, oh well.

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

Spellcraft check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
stealth: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 1 = 24 (1 for untrained skill dex bonus)
Bartholomew moves to 30ft away and casts blindness/deafness (2nd level spell - spellcraft DC 17 to identify). This removes invisibility. Make a Fort save DC 17 to avoid becoming
(or counter...). I believe concealment only gives a 20% miss chance vs attack rolls right? So Blindness/deafness should be unaffected.
Bartholomew, then begins moving his lips silently to make it seem like he's yelling something.

Bartleby Nutmeg |

"What kind of wizard duel is this? Where is the fire and lightning?" squeaks the tiny halfling right before shoving some pastries into his mouth, and a handful to his gorilla companion.

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

Rifiki hears a ringing in his ears, as you reappear, and a moment later, all sound goes away. He start yelling, since he cannot hear himself.
Impressive, I have underestimated you. I am not without my own tricks!
He pulls another scroll, from his backpack. He reads from he scroll, trying to get the words out correctly. He thinks he gets the words out correct, but not being able to hear proves to be his downfall. The spell fizzles.

He looks around as the spell don't conjure. He holds up his hands, in a gesture of he surrenders. Again yelling as he cannot hear anything.
I humbly surrender young man. It was quite fun, despite my losing. Now, for the love of God, give me back my hearing!
I tried to prolong the duel with fog cloud, but I failed the %. Nice one

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

Bartholomew dismisses the deafness spell.
"Well fought. I feel I have learned a great deal! You had me worried with that color spray spell earlier. So, how about that drink?"

Bartleby Nutmeg |

Bartleby sits there with crumbs falling from his face. "What? Its over? That's it?"
He gets up and climbs on the gorilla. "Well that was interesting for sure. Well done."
"Come on Martin."

Bartholomew Barleygrain |

"Sorry it wasn't very exciting. I was just about to use some primal magic too like this..."
Bartholomew casts a quickened spell calling on primal magic

Obscuring mist begins to seep out from his location. You can her from in the cloud of mist, "Ha, free spell pulled from the very essence of magic itself. That's the first time it's been successful. Looks like I am learning. My mother would be so proud!"
