He holds up Sylvanna's missing copper eagle figurine.

GM Engleaktig |
Okie dokie. I'm also happy to entertain the creative use of other skills. :-)
The map has been updated. You are currently in room C1. Where to next? You have two options:
1) head west (left) Labyrinthine halls snake throughout the keep’s underground. Along the passageways, humanoid skeletons rest inside curved alcoves. Rats scurry underfoot, their squeaks echoing in the damp air as they disappear into the shadows.
2) head north (up) This damp chamber is overgrown with foliage from top to bottom. Thin rivulets of water trickle down from cracks in the moss-covered walls, obscuring the original painted frescos underneath. Patches of bioluminescent mushrooms festoon columns of shelves and fill the area with a dim glow, while a canopy of vines dangles from the ceiling. A stone podium enveloped in lichen stands on the south wall next to two mounds of fungus and pods.
Harrow Tatterhood |
"Harrow think people been here," he says. "Unless this special monster that look like tended garden."
The half-orc moves to investigate the stone podium.

"We should proceed with caution and expect an attempt at an ambush."

Whoops! Apparently, at least one of the creatures heard you rooting around the first room...

I'm assuming this is some sort of enchantment effect. In that case, Husarq is +9 vs. enchantment and Mareq is +8 vs. enchanment. This makes the rolls: Husarq 14 and Mareq 18.

Yes, enchantment is correct. Are you sticking with those rolls?
I also have re-roll boons that I'm happy to share if others do not.

OK. Fenrik fails the save vs. Insane Beauty.
1d6 ⇒ 4
Fenrik suffers from the confused condition for the next 4 rounds.
__________
Berosius, Fenrik, and Harrow find themselves extremely unsettled by the lampad's weeping. You three are shaken for the next 10 rounds.

ROUND ONE
Fenrik is up first in initiative.
1d4 ⇒ 4
And he attacks the nearest creature. :-( Sorry guys.
Harrow Tatterhood |
Harrow doesn't like to feel unsettled.
"Stop terrible crying! Harrow not like it! It hurt Harrow ears!" the half-orc bellows as he steps toward the nearest creature and attacks it with his nodachi.
+1 keen nodachi (adamantine, power attack, furious focus, studied target): 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 1 = 211d10 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 14 + 1 = 25
if hits, free intimidate check to demoralize: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (2) + 27 = 29

Mareq Bolthune |
After Husarq is attacked by Fenrik and vacates the space, Mareq steps to his right, closer to Fenrik (!) and gestures towards the fungus looking opponents (2 and 3). Spurting flame cascades outward from his fingertips and engulfs them!

ADS2+PS: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Fenrik blinks a few times seeing visions dance before his eyes. Confused, he lashes out and Husarq takes 26 HP of damage.
__________
Harrow, Ragathiel's "Champion of the Brown Note" realizes that he doesn't like the "Wet Note" sound. In response, he strikes the nearest creature, but the essentially mindless plant is not intimidated.
__________
The plant-thing (Creature 2) strikes back at Harrow. However, it only has ranged attacks (spores), and provokes an AoO. The half-orc creates a salad as the creature is slain.
Harrow: 1d20 ⇒ 18
__________
Kelson is up!
Husarq |
Kelson's song and haste change Husarq's attack results:
Sword: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18+2+1=21
Slashing dmg: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 4) + 11 = 17+2=19
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Mareq Bolthune |
Creature 2's demise changes Mareq's action. He steps forward and casts burning hands, but the cone now includes Enemy 1 and 3.
I'm assuming creature 3 can't AOO, since it is still flatfooted.
GM Engleaktig |
ROUND 1, continued
__________
Seeing the potential for this kerfuffle to quickly spiral out of control, Kelson buffs his allies with a rousing ditty. Even the plants start shaking their booties, Groot-style.
__________
Husarq steps forward and unleashes his pent-up aggression upon the enemy whilst Mareq releases the fires of his hate.
1d20 ⇒ 20
Somehow, in the throes of its Groot-dance, the plants avoids the worst of Mareq's rage-fueled fire.
The smell of roasted garlic begins to fill these halls beneath Hartsfall.
__________
Still standing, the singed plant provokes an AoO from Husarq.
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
As it begins to belch forth spores the eidolon ends its unusually graceful dance.
__________
The fungal lampad casts spider climb and moves to the ceiling above.
__________
Berosius is up!
Berosius |
Reminder to the GM that Berosius has a Life Link established with Harrow.
Berosius chirps out a word of command and three magic missiles erupt from his wand to strike the lampad.

__________
Harrow roars and attacks the remaining enemy, slicing into it deeply.
__________
Kelson and Mareq are up!
Kelson Bard character |
what number is the lampad?
@Harrow don't forget the Haste :)
Kelson casts sonic scream at the lampad angling it to miss his friends.
DC 16 relfex for half. I have lingerling performance so the inspire courage is still up
damage: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 1) = 7
Mareq Bolthune |
Did Kelson haste the confused Fenrik (who had just slashed Husarq for half his hit points)? If not, then Husarq's AC is 26 and Fenrik's strike misses.
If he is hasted then the haste ac and attack bonuses cancel out,Fenrik's hit succeeds, and Husarq now has 2hp and is in desperate need of aid.
Mareq casts Rejuvenate Eidolon on Husarq.
Rejuvenate Eidolon, Lesser: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Husarq |
Husarq attacks the lampad again.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 34
Slashing dmg: 2d6 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6) + 17 + 2 = 29
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 2
GM Engleaktig |
Should only be the lampad remaining. (sorry I didn't take the others off of the map.)
I'll rule that Fenrik was not hasted. I mean, if he gets to go again that would be bad news for someone.
Husarq, frustrated at being ordered to attack a salad, instead of the creature causing it much physical pain, directs all of his might into his blow, and finishes off the plant creature.
If someone has a way of removing Fenrik's confusion, we're good. Else we're still in rounds.
GM Engleaktig |
Hm... Easy solution: Unless anyone objects, the party runs away (full withdraw) from Fenrik for 2 rounds. After that, the confusion expires.
Combat over!
:-)
__________
Feel free to roll any healing. In the meantime, you search the area and find a journal on a lichen-covered stone podium. (The lichen has begun to grow over it. It has been here for a while. But your perception bonuses are high enough that someone in the party will spot it.)
I need a Heal check from someone for the party to understand the journal, please.
__________
Alongside his journal is a small metal coffer containing a ring with a garnet set in it.
__________
There are also 2 vials of... something.
GM Engleaktig |
Kelson looks at the vials.
Kelson quickly discovers that the vials are not magical.
Because of the unusual nature of this substance, in addition to Perception or Craft(Alchemy), I'll also allow Knowledge(Nature) to identify it.
It looks like there are a bunch of "dots" or tiny spheres floating in a slightly gooey suspension in the vials. If you hadn't found them down below Hartsfall Keep, they might remind you of an ice cream topping.
Harrow Tatterhood |
Harrow looks at both the vials and the lichen. Sometimes, Ragathiel sees fit to inspire him with revelation. Sometimes, he's left to his own 'mental capacity.'
