Feh, not going to wait more then a day =)

Beset on all sides by extra planar foes, and possibly the lady who's summoning them, Sickly seems suddenly paralyzed with indecision.

As the daemonic creature outside threatens Saarai, and not sure if Gruugdúrz is near enough to help, his face reddens even more, and one vein on his head seems to pulse visibly, until he finally lets loose a moarnful howl. Using the reach of his weapon, he lashes out at the hairy beast through the doorway, hoping to draw its attention, or weaken it for the half-orc.

This many dangerous foes, worst thing we can do is divide our attacks! So concentrated fire at the only one Gruug can reach! And besides, his bless weapon is still going!

Think it might get partial cover, but have a clear shot at some of it, so should just be partial I hope!

Melee Primary, PA: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 2 = 24, for 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (2, 4) + 14 = 20 damage. (adamantine, magic, good)

Melee Iterative, PA: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 2 = 25, for 6d6 + 42 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 5, 5, 1) + 42 = 57 damage. (adamantine, magic, good)

edit: ooo, finally a break! Because of the Bless Weapon, all critical hits vs evil foes automatically confirm!
Adjusted the damage above to account for that!

He then steps off of the sloped area of the pit, not wanting to fall in.

Round 9
Gruugdúrz, still able to move very quickly, moves over by the fountain in
the courtyard. He then fires a sling bullet, with both hands, at the new daemon.
sling: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
damage: 1d4 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
(rage, mw bullets, 2-handed shot, and deadly aim)

Infernal Healing, round 2/10, +1 HP

@ terraleon:
The cunning plan is to draw his attention, from a distance.
Even though the chances of hitting with ranged attack aren't so great.
At least he can add his strength bonuses to any sling bullets that do hit.
Gruugdúrz is still hurting, otherwise I would've closed in already.

And here I was concerned for a bit, but that's going to settle that. Even with full cover (which I don't believe applies here, looking at the PRD page on cover as an example to confirm), Sickly will hit with both attacks.

Beset on all sides by extra planar foes, and possibly the lady who's summoning them, Sickly seems suddenly paralyzed with indecision.

As the daemonic creature outside threatens Saarai, and not sure if Gruugdúrz is near enough to help, his face reddens even more, and one vein on his head seems to pulse visibly, until he finally lets loose a mournful howl.

Using the reach of his weapon, he lashes out at the hairy beast through the doorway, hoping to draw its attention, or weaken it for the half-orc. Sickly thrusts the head of his hammer through the warehouse threshold. The heavy metal shatters the bones of the daemon's knee with a loud crack. The outsider emits a bloodcurdling curdling scream and turns to look at its attacker. Sickly follows this up with a heavy, overhead, almost carnival-strongman-like blow, and shatters the daemon's skull. A spray of teeth and smoldering purple blood leave an arc on the flagstones in front of the now prone corpse. The dwarf has barely taken two breaths, stepping off the sloped edge of the magical pit, and the body repeats the process of erupting into heatless purple flame, with the smoke and ashes becoming moths which dissipate in the air.

Nicely done. I'd wondered, but that hit did the trick, and the weapon cut the DR. This definitely halts that shift in momentum. Gruugdúrz, you'll want to revise your action, I'm sure.

@ terraleon: I will revise my action. Thanks for that.

Round 9
Gruugdúrz, greatly impressed by Sickly's attack, does something subtle.
Subtle for him. He walks through the warehouse door in front of him.
He then walks up to the woman causing the fuss and attacks with his falchion.

I'm assuming I do NOT get a flanking bonus because Sidney's Eagle is kind of preoccupied with the Xill.

Ordinarily, it would be move to the door, open the door, be done with your round. However, if everyone is ok with opening the door as a swift action as a part of the move action, and we do that for the bad guys as well as the group, I'm content to leave it as is.

Unfortunately, you can't use Acrobatics to soften this fall-- unless I'm missing a correction. But the PRD indicates:

Acrobatics Description wrote:
When you deliberately fall any distance, even as a result of a missed jump, a DC 15 Acrobatics skill check allows you to ignore the first 10 feet fallen, although you still end up prone if you take damage from a fall. See the falling rules for further details.

Emphasis mine. This was not a deliberate fall, as Sidney made the Reflex save to try to avoid the pit.

See the PRD entry for Acrobatics here.

You're totally good casting from prone, though.

Male not always to the swift nor the strong. Bard6 / Paladin2 / Fighter2 / Magus4 / Dad2

Ok, pressing onward.

With the daemon dead, Saarai rushes forward and opens the warehouse's northern door, the slave sale gate. Still cloaked in supernatural shadows, the morning light dims around her. The door swings out, banging against the structure's wall.

Gruugdúrz takes advantage of the new point of ingress, and charges in with weapon drawn. His appearance seems to startle the Garundi woman, and she throws up her arms to ward off the blow of the half-orc's blade. Her magics hold, and Gruugdúrz's sword emits a shower of sparks as it skitters along a momentarily visible shield of magical force; the ghostly image of a warrior, holding a kite shield, appears and seems to deflect the blow before fading out of sight just as quickly as it appeared.

There is a soft noise, sounding much like a "VWHIIP!" as the woman appears to fold in on herself, swirling into a point which disappears with a puff of cold air and an odd sensation that leaves your teeth faintly aching. It is almost immediately followed by a "BWAAP!" as she bursts back into sight; this time standing in the courtyard. The Blackfire Adept and teleportation specialist, for at this point you realize this is what she must be, casts yet another spell. The harsh syllables remind you of burning timber cracking in the heat, and just as ephemeral. Suddenly, the ground beneath Gruugdúrz opens beneath him and the floor under Saarai begins to slope towards the eldritch hole, its bottom and sides lined with wickedly jagged shards of black nothingness, studded with points of starlight.

I need a DC 18 Reflex save please, Gruugdúrz from a create spiked pit spell. You cannot shift to the same square as Saarai.

The Sudden Stop plus pointy bits: 4d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 4) + (3, 5) = 20

I'll continue with the xill as we resolve the fall, since Gruugdúrz final location is important.

ouch, definitely!

Gruugdúrz is caught unawares by the spellcaster, and plummets to the inky depths of the pit. With a muted thump, he hits the bottom.

The wizard outside called out in a clipped, precise language, "Acherg het ordo!"

Infernal Speech:
Charge the door!

Responding to the cry, the xill unceremoniously drops the celestial eagle and flies to the threshold, hovering over the pit, claws extended, mandibles clacking hungrily.

Bloody hell.

Can we assume there are windows and such along the west wall of this place? (I'm assuming as the teleportation subschool shift thingme requires line of sight).
Totally sucks that the Xill can fly!

Sickly lets out a cry of dismay, as Gruugdúrz disappears into yet another pit, and the flying Xill goes after Saarai.

"Get out of there!" He calls out despondently in dwarvish. Seeing her still able to move, he leaps over the pit through the nearby doorway, heading for the woman responsible.

Jumping the pit corner there. DC will be double the distance, so 10-14 or so, depending on pythagorus =)

Acrobatics to jump: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

As he goes, he takes his longhammer in one hand, and draws a dagger off his belt. Once on the other side, he runs right up to the offending woman, and uses the smaller weapon to slash at the woman's right leg.

Melee Attack (dagger), PA: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 11 - 2 = 27, 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 damage.

He doesn't even bother to hang onto the dagger, as it goes spinning across the courtyard after his swing, and he takes up his grip on the longhammer once more.

Want to get right up in her face, hoping she'll do that short range teleport thing again not knowing what other weapons he might have available... and send the Xill after him (assuming Saarai can get out of there)

Infernalspeech:

The outsider surges forward, claws grasping, jaws working, clearly moving for Saarai with a predator's grace. It preternaturally glides through the threshold with an eerie silence, and attacks!

The woman flies back and up 20 feet, putting space between her and the remaining party members and her back against the warehouse, while trying to dodge their attacks. Her eyes flash purple and her fingers erupt with sinister purple black flames that roar as she casts. A jet of flame lances out at both Sickly and Saarai.

These are round 10 actions

The eagles move to attack the sorceress rather than the nasty big ugly.

Adjust to make the first attack for each eagle valid. And then take away a point of damage from each attack if she is not evil. Take away a point from the last eagle as its smite target was the big ugly. Eagles do an 80' fly and then attack with smite evil (swift)

Saarai, finding herself between the spellcaster and the xill, lets down her guard a bit. The creature paralyzes her with its first attack. Standing helpless, she is easy prey for its remaining attacks, which leave her in a heap on death's door.

fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

At -9 hp (have a 12 Con). This is pretty brutal, guys. If those eagles and/or Sickly don't do some major work this round, we could easily be in for a TPK.

Current status

Round 9
Saarai [at -4HP, prone, unconscious, paralyzed] ADJUSTED FOR RESISTANCE
Miyako [-25, paralyzed, prone, in pit]
Gruugdúrz [-45, Fast healing 3 of 10rnds, in spiked pit ]
Sidney [-20, Fast healing 4 of 8rnds, in pit, summoning ]
Xill [-16, flying]
BFAdept [-19, flying, mirror imaged (3 images, possibly less) ]
Sickly [-10] Please make an AoO against the wizard

Sidney, don't forget you can call out commands to your eagles. You didn't last round, and you have one left. With the wizard's three images, on a check to see which is hit, she is always image number 1, there are 3, including her.

was going to point out the -4 penalty to that ray attack for firing into melee... but a 7 hits anyway if she's paralyzed 8( Fire resitance silver lining at least...

AoO on wizard, PA: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 - 2 = 23, for 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (3, 4) + 14 = 21, vs image 1d3 ⇒ 1 (*Hit*)

As the woman flies back and away, Sickly takes a desperate swing at her multiple images. There is a satisfying thunk, as his hammer strikes something solid! But he soon looks on in misery, as Saarai is first paralyzed and mauled by the Xill, then fired at while helpless by the wizard flying up in the air.

"Leave them alone!" He shouts again, near tears, suddenly feeling very alone. No one seems to heed him.

The eagles should have already attacked, if not he will wait til they do... then

A moment later, a small flock of Sidney's eagles descend on her, knocking away one of the images!

He suddenly gets a determined look, muttering the name 'Ragdya' under his breath... and for a moment, one might swear they hear the sounds of monkeys nearby. Suddenly he races towards the nearby stable wall, and with astonishing leaps and bounds he finds purchase where you might swear there was none, almost seeming to fly up the side of the building!

Using my Ragdya's blessing boon to gain a climb speed for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds... and going up the wall.

Ragdya's Blessing:
Due to the respect you showed to the Vudran god Ragdya’s sacred animal, you have received that deity’s blessing. You may cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet to gain a climb speed of 20 feet for 1d4 rounds. For 1 round after this boon expires, if you would fall due to failing a Climb check, you fall slowly as if affected by feather fall (CL 1st) so long as you remain adjacent to a wall or other solid surface.

You mentioned earlier the buildings were 15' high, so that should put him on the roof of it, and within reach of the wizard!

Suddenly near the wizard, and weezing hard with exertion, he brings his hammer around in a mighty swing, aiming for whichever of the final two images looks like the real one!

5' right, 15' up the side! Swinging at her with reach. Dunno if I manage a flank with an eagle, but not going to worry about it too much (well, unless I miss by 2!)

Melee vs wizard, PA: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 12 - 2 = 26, 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (6, 6) + 14 = 26, vs image 1d2 ⇒ 1 (*Hit*)

Sidney's eagles are a bit confusing, as they don't happen until after your attack, but I'm going to just put them in now, because it won't adjust things too much. Soooo.

For round 9-into 10, we're going to leave it where it is, with Sidney summoning a third group of eagles, his eagles have attacked. However, please don't put any more summon posts into the thread until it's time, as I think it's confused things a bit, but this is a nailbiter, and it's made for a good scene.

Gruugdúrz may act in the pit. Saarai may attempt to stabilize, Sidney's now caught up, and I'll go on to the xill with a compilation and results post...OK?

EDIT: Read Sickly's post in discussion, and I concur.

So, to be right, as we're going to 11 after a compilation/results post, it will be Sidney's action, correct? Gruugdúrz will have an action, but he can't affect much down there.

I'll proceed then. Saarai, please don't forget to make a stabilization roll.

In a chaotic flurry of action, almost happening simultaneously, the xill surged forward, paralyzing and shredding Saarai, her form locking up in spasms as the saliva did its work on her. The Garundi wizard flew back, taking a savage blow from Sickly before casting a terrible scorching ray at both remaining party members. Sickly evaded the awful flames, but Saarai, now paralyzed, proved an easy target. Blistered and smoking from the jet of purple fire, the tiefling collapsed in a heap.

The situation looked grim, but then Sidney's celestial eagles appeared in flashes of sunlight off mirrors, and swarmed the wizard. This destroyed a mirror image, and left her mostly surrounded by summoned raptors and otherwise unharmed as they failed to pierce her magical protections.

That was when Sickly uttered a prayer to the monkey god, and with a surprising magical speed, leapt up the side of the warehouse. Taking advantage of his position and the now distracted wizard, the dwarf let loose a haymaker swing which pierced the magical veil and connected with the Blackfire Adept's ribs in a sickening crunch. The wind knocked from her, she slumped unconscious, floating in the air.

Which brings us into the now...

The xill hovers over an unconscious Saarai, whose blistered lungs have begun to fill with fluid as she lies on the ground, paralyzed. Sickly stands on the roof of the warehouse, his hammer having pummeled the Garundi Blackfire Adept into apparent unconsciousness. Faintly, muted slightly by the pit and the warehouse, we can hear Sidney summoning in arcane syllables. The celestial eagles flap their wings furiously, surrounding the wizard.

On to round 11. Gruugdúrz, Sidney, I have adjusted your hit points. The eagles will need to move, as they do not have hover. I think they are closer to the ground, but that whole last set up was a bit confusing, so I'm going to say they're up at the Adept's level. It works best to say that Sidney kind-of-held his action until the wizard cast, but we'll put him back in place and call it a wash. The eagles are 20 feet up, even with someone standing on the roof of the warehouse.

Sidney completes another round of summoning and 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 shining eagles come through the portal to the celestial plane.

The two eagles by the horrible creature attempt to hover in place and continue their attacks.

The first eagle begins to rend the still suspended in air sorceress.

confirm vs immobile: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Satisfied, the other eagles leave their lone companion, and dive down to attack the creature they instinctively know is the nasty threat.

eagle1 with no smite or flank: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
eagle2 with no smite or flank: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
eagle3 with no smite or flank: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The eagles put up a pathetic swarm of attacks, one on top of the creature, the other four barely off the ground.

Sidney grimaces as his wounds continue to mend and begins a lesser ritual of summoning. His lesser powerful summons looks to pick a wayward eagle from the celestial planes one at a time.

Full round Monster Summoning 1 -- eagle hovers and does a full attack, the others move and deliver a single bite
eagle4 with smite + flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 101d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4

Four surround the Xill--one is small in the square if the sorceress, I would say above or below her, the other is above the Xill and small in his square. Two are small to show they are above the token the share a square with.

Male not always to the swift nor the strong. Bard6 / Paladin2 / Fighter2 / Magus4 / Dad2

Wait, an eagle is sharing the square with the xill? That's going to provoke as it enters the square. I am afraid I'm not understanding. The four seem to surround the wizard, not the xill. If you could review the map, and adjust as appropriate, I'd appreciate it.
