Saarai Shae
|
Saarai drops her friendly guise.
"I feared it would come to this," she sighs. "Sasha Antif-Arah sends her regards—healthy and alive from Andoran."
She puts a hand on the man's shoulder. "How about you help us now, hmmm?"
| GM V |
At the mention of Riftwardens, “That’s dangerous business. I’m not sure either one of us wants to get involved in that, frankly.” And when you bring up Sascha Antif-Arah sends her regards? “Then you would have my attention. As long as she’s alive, we can talk more. But this is not the time nor place for it.”
Did anyone bring a weapon in with them?
Gruugdúrz
|
"Fair enough. We might as well go somewhere less wet to discuss this business."
He does surprisingly well at infiltration sans weapons.
When not in bloodrage:
• Toothy Bite: +10 to hit, 1d4+4 normally
• Toothy Bite: +8 to hit, 1d4+10 using power attack
Options when in bloodrage:
• Toothy Bite: +10 to hit, 1d4+5 normally
• Toothy Bite: +8 to hit, 1d4+9 with power attack
• Toothy Bite: +8 to hit, 1d6+10 with power attack and demonic bulk
• Claws (x2): +10 to hit, 1d6+5 normally
• Claws (x2): +8 to hit, 1d6+9 with power attack
• Claws (x2): +8 to hit, 1d8+10 with power attack and demonic bulk
I'm not as likely to use the Demonic bulk, though.
Mostly because his AC kind of plummets when he does that.
That and the face he'll be nearly 12 foot tall and weigh in at the better part of one ton.

No weapon here...
"Fine," Saarai says. "Where do you want to talk? It was hard enough finding you...so don't say a different time."
Miyako_Okori
|
Miyako carefully peeks around the corner of the dressing room.
"Hey!" she calls out in a whisper-like voice. "Hey, guys! Can you, like, ask him if he wants to talk outside...? I'm really not comfortable with this!"
Gruugdúrz
|
"I'm going to have to have a chat with Miyako and Sickly!"
"I mean!"
"Take on a dangerous job without hesitation."
"But ask them to walk around in their birthday suits, and they're nowhere to be seen!"
Gruugdúrz gets out of the water, and puts on his robe.
He then addresses the armoured men:
"Do do us a favour. Go somewhere else and forget you were here."

Saarai Shae

Saarai whispers to the man trying to make himself small in the water.
"Is there a back door out of this place?"
Sickly
|
Why do people always assume threatening the authorities is a good idea? =)
Sickly looks up, startled, as the armed men come through the changing area.
Is there a way to tell if these are those Pure Legion folks we heard about? Am assuming it is, but might be wrong! Or is that what the Knowledge (local) comment was about?
Unsure what to do, but not wanting to cause trouble if it can be avoided, he gets up and goes over to the doorway to the baths, making sure his robe is properly secured, to see what's going on.
Miyako_Okori
|
Miyako watches attentively from where she stands.
Great-grandfather: I really wish you'd move a bit closer to that tiefling companion of yours, Miyako. I can't see her breasts from this angle.
Miyako: Not now, gramps! They're saying important things!
Great-grandfather: Who, the breasts?
| GM V |
It is to figure out that these are the pure legion not that you know that ;) Sidney how do you change forms?
"Listen Green one, we arent here for you and dont need any trouble." He takes a quick look around the bath. "Come on boys, he aint here." With that the Legionnaires turn and leave.
You beat the DC by 1...
Kline then grabs a robe and his things, waits for you to do the same, and leads you through a secret door. It leads to a second set of baths, guarded by 2 orcs, then the cities under city.
“I know where the Riftwardens are, but it’s not an answer you’re going to like,” Kline says with grimace. “They attempted a raid on a compound full of Blackfire Adepts who were masquerading as slavers, but the plan didn’t work as they had hoped. For all their talent at magic, the Riftwardens aren’t the best at keeping their heads down when planning an attack. The Blackfire Adepts caught wind of their plan and struck first, capturing all four of the Riftwardens perhaps a week ago. From what I’ve been able to gather, the Blackfire Adepts are planning on moving to greener pastures—which could mean practically anywhere other than Rahadoum—and they’ve been making the most of their remaining time in Azir by interrogating their captives rather ruthlessly. It seems the Blackfire Adepts just can’t pass up a good opportunity to gloat over their arch nemeses, but they’re sure to tire of it soon and just execute the lot of them. Last I heard, the slavers are departing on a caravan the morning after tomorrow, and you can bet that the Riftwardens will be dead before then.”
Gruugdúrz
|
Gruugdúrz will change, grab all his gear, change, and urges the others to follow with all speed.
He's also quite prepared to drag and/or carry both Sickly and Miyako through the baths, literally, if that's what it takes to get them through the second set of baths.
After listening to Kline's story, Gruugdúrz just asks:
"So, where are the Riftwardens being kept?"
"I'm sure we can give those Black Adepts a fight to remember."
"Even though we shan't be fighting in our birthday suits."
he says as he gives Sickly and Miyako a quick wink.
@ GM V:
Phew! That was close!
Shows how useful Intimidate can be, though!
Ironic that Intimidate could be used to avoid a fight.

Sidney, a prospective dragon disciple, allowed his claws to return to hands.
He also returned his elemental servant to the earth.
With draconic bloodline, Sidney can grow claws

Saarai looks askance at Miyako as she dresses.
Was she trying to look at me from different angles?
"Well, we have some executions to stop. I know Sickly wanted to take a bath still, but that will have to wait, my dwarven friend."
Miyako_Okori
|
Miyako quickly gets dressed again when the opportunity presents itself. She notices Saarai's look and inwardly curses at the perverted ancestor that haunts her.
Miyako: Look what you did, gramps! Now she thinks I'm the pervert!
Great-grandfather: Meh, it'll blow over.
While trying to avoid Saarai's eyes, or any other part of the tiefling's body, Miyako follows her allies and Kline.
"How many Blackfire Adepts are there?" Miyako asks Kline, staring at her feet as she walks.
| GM V |
Who are the Blackfire Adepts? “You don’t know? Didn’t the Decemvirate brief you at all? The Blackfire Adepts seek the destruction of civilization using terrible outsiders. They’re not nice people, and the Riftwardens oppose them. If you need a comparison, think of them like the Aspis Consortium to your Society, though that assumes either side qualifies as ‘the good guys.’ I dont know how many they number."
Other questions? If not give me know local or diplo checks to gather info.

"It sounds like we have no time to spare. Let's get moving to this hideout before the prisoners are dead..." Saarai says.

Okay, I don't have a lot of time (see discussion), but I can manage 1 roll before I disappear till the weekend!

Hmm... not great, but I tried! xD
Miyako_Okori
|
"We don't have time to spend on more info gathering. Let's just bust in and smash things!"
Miyako seems awkwardly enthusiastic about the prospect of thrashing the place.
Sickly
|
Sickly looks slightly alarmed as the others suggest just crashing in. "Won't that get the wardens killed?" he suggests.
Do we even know where we're going, for bashing our way in to be an option?
If we do, then we should at the very least check the place out first, yes?
Saarai Shae
|
Saarai smiles serenely. "I can get in and get out without being seen. I can find the best way in."
I have a +20 stealth modifier...I should be able to see what's going on first.
Saarai Shae

Saarai checks out the hideout and tries to find a way to scout it out before the others come in.
Ouch! Bad rolls!

Miyako stays back, not wanting to mess up while Saarai's so good at being stealthy. She also wants to avoid a possible awkward moment, like the time her great-grandfather created a breeze to lift a woman's skirt. There's plenty of reason for Miyako to suspect he'll try something like that again if Miyako gets too close to Saarai.
| GM V |
Saarai is able to observe the compound without being seen. She notices that people bringing what looks like slaves in for sale arrive throughout the day and there is a food delivery bright and early. Otherwise the compound stays mostly shut. There also seems to be between 8-12 guards on duty.
Map is posted. What would you like to do?
Saarai Shae
|
Saarai reports back to the others and gives a general layout for the compound.
"I think we have two options. Either I can try to open a door for us to sneak in, or we could pretend to be a slave or food delivery. Either way, we should be quick about it. We don't know when they will execute the prisoners."
Are we at the main entrance on the map?
Saarai Shae
|
"Okay, let's do the slave shtick. I don't need any equipment to be effective, so I can be a slave, too. Here, someone just hold my bow and rapier should I need them later."
I guess let's just have a couple that need equipment be the slavers, the rest of us slaves, and we'll tie our hands with rope.
Sickly
|
Sickly has no skills at pretending or convincing. =)
Sickly looks uncomfortable with the whole idea, though sees no alternative.
He offers to just look like muscle, and say nothing.
He will happily hold other folks equipment if needed.
Saarai is the best bluffer we got, isn't she? Perhaps she should be on the other side of the whip? Miyako could do it I suppose, though not as well.
