"Hey! Hey!" Kitty and Mouser take off after Kitt, "Don't play with that, you'll upset the beetle!"
GM Lithrac
|
Most of the Pathfinders are unsuccessful in their search, yet Hikari makes a lucky finding - he discovers a small vial concealed in the drug addict’s sleeping pallet.
Kitt Theos
|
"Waaaaa, let's make a move Terra." They take off heading back to the group, but carefully not to agitate the beetle.
"Find anything? Didn't seem to find anything at that statue, although it irks me as an engineer, why would anyone design a statue here? It doesn't seem like the most efficient thing..."
Hikari Hayashi
|
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Hikari unstoppers the vial he found and takes a deep sniff, but has no clue what it is. Passing on to the rest of his team, he asks, "I am afraid alchemical matters are not my strength. Could one of you take a look?"
Taking one last look around the sewers, Hikari makes a suggestion. "Chances are that this Laszo will return but when he would do that is uncertain. We still need to complete one other mission by end of today. Should he only return late in the day, that might leave us very little time for the other mission. Could I suggest that we tackle one of Delroya's other tasks first, then return? There is the risk that we might miss him completely though."

Kitty tries her hand at percieving the subtle clues...
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Popole
|
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Popole comes as soon as he hears that Hikari found something. Looking at the vials, he states.
"That's what we came for. Yet, the drug is unrefined. And we don't have the notes as well. I think we should come by to 'apprehend' the guy later. What do you say?"
Kitt Theos
|
Yeah, I guess the unknown in the formula would be this alchemist. It would be inefficient to try to solve this without the right assumptions! And my dog has been pestering me to stop that meeting.

The Overflowing Oyster is a dirty, broken-looking building that barely fits between the fishing tackle shop to its north and the junk shop to its south. Hanging over the door is a creaky sign that shows a painted oyster with pearls spilling from its gaping shell. The interior of the Overflowing Oyster displays a mix of rickety furniture and gaudy decorations, from strands of obviously fake pearls hanging over the kitchen’s entrance to wooden carvings of sultry mermaids and cheap paintings of ships at sea. Contrary to its name, the dirty tavern is hardly crowded, even during its “busy” hours: at meal times, several local laborers hunch over cheap food and casual games of chance, cursing and muttering to the same old friends about the same old troubles.
I'll let you discuss how you want to proceed and devise a plan at this stage.
Popole
|
As I played this scenario twice and GM'd once, I'll let the party set up a plan :)
Popole seems a bit reluctant on social interaction.
"Yeah... What do you need me to do? I can sure start a fight..."
Hikari Hayashi
|
I've played this twice before also. :)
"Hmm, I say we call the authorities down on tavern - on the grounds of creating fake pearls and selling them on the black market. The guards swarming over the place, possibly closing down the tavern, would likely disrupt the meeting."
Haldoc Tisbane
|
Do we really want to involve the authorities? Perhaps, if any of you have the talent, could pose as the authorities to clear the place out and then we simply wait for them to arrive? If we simply stop this meeting, won't they just set up a new one?
Gavan Stonechild
|
Gavan looks to Hikari. "I do not know whether the authorities would raid the tavern based on only our word. However, if we speak with the proprietor and make it known that we know, and suggest that he close up shop for an hour or two..."
Kitt Theos
|
"Well, we do not know how to authorities would react, too big of an unknown to me, will they make it in time? What if the proprietor was hostile towards us! How about, we create a fake commotion among ourselves, like a bar fight? Someone then shouts to call the authorities, with that surely our enemies would not stay to wait for the authorities to show up?" This way no one gets hurt and our intentions remain unknown!
Popole
|
"Didn't Delroya mention that the authorities were paid by the consortiums?" ponders Popole.
Haldoc Tisbane
|
Sounds like that could be our best option.
Kitty Underfoot
|
"Or if say a lion and a wolf started chasing each other through the bar and a few panicked guests... us... started flipping tables and yelling and screaming, the bar might empty out quite nicely. As long as no one got hurt we pay a few coins for damages and put the whole thing down to 'a bunch of over excited animals at play, must have smelt the clam chowder and got hungry, mind how you go sir sorry for your troubles, heres a couple of gold for your inconvenience and I'll be begging your good day' and off we go"
Hikari Hayashi
|
Hikari, the usual composed man that he is, clearly bristles at the thought that the authorities may not be as law-abiding as he would wish them to be. But this is happening in Kasai the capital under the rulership of the Jade Regent. What would I expect from Diobel?
He clearly bristles also at the idea of purposefully creating a bar fight in the establishment of an innocent proprietor, although he had to remind himself that the tavern owner might not be that free of crime himself. Finally, he speaks up. "Fine, if this is the best option, let's proceed. But minimise the damage! Much as his hands might not be entirely clean, that does not excuse us wantonly destroying his property."
Kitty Underfoot
|
Translation from 'crime boss' - "Who is going to sneak in and see what is going on?' :) Was just checking if we had an actual person good at stealth...looking at our roster though, its probably Kitty 'the completely legit farmer' or Popole the 'completely legit sailor'
Never mind, Kitty will go have a look then - Sneak 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
GM Lithrac

Kitty ventures inside the joint, slipping unseen between two patrons exiting the house. The inside is way more grim than you anticipated - a true rat hole. Yet Kitty's curiosity is rewarded as she spots a side entrance, much less watched over, where you could usher in your fearsome menagerie.
Could Kitty proceed with a Handle Animal check to order Mouser what to do, please?
Kitty Underfoot
|
Cool. Time to crack out the plan then...
Handle Animal (Mouser) - 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Kitty leads Mouser over to the entrance, getting him all excited and playful. When the time is right she slips him from the harness.
Kitt Theos
|
"Terra, could you lend mouser a hand?"
Terra the wolf dog eidolon shall join in camaraderie with mouser! It's like a cat and dog chase! I assume you don't need to handle animal with an eidolon?
GM Lithrac
|
Apologies for the lack of posting this week, the workload is harrowing, especially when added up with family life...
The plan works flawlessly, to a point. Mouser and Terra enter the Blue Oyster club unseen through the back door, and start causing quite the disturbance inside. Pint and jugs are shattered, the few clients still inside start screaming and leave the "fine" establishment much more easily (and soberly) than they previously anticipated. The ruckus is memorable, and where the bartender sees a fierce fight between two raving beasts, the Pathfinders revel in beholding a friendly confrontation between two creatures that might grow quite fond of one another with that event.
However, the good moment is soon over as the Pathfinders realize their heavy laughter puts them at risk of being discovered! A quick escape would probably prevent this, however. Each of you may roll one of the following: Stealth, Acrobatics, Swim, or Knowledge (local).
Haldoc Tisbane
|
Haldoc believes the best way to avoid detection is to swim! Unless Climb is also feasible, same modifier.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Hikari Hayashi

Taking a moment to call upon Shizuru's guiding hand, Hikari attempts to sneak away with Kitty and Kitt.
stealth, guidance: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13
Popole
|
The little froggy pirate tries to walk away as stealthy as he can.

Whereas most of the party panicks at the thought of bringing attention to themselves, Popole the "honest sailor" remains calm and finds a way of hiding his companions and himself into large barrels. While some of the Pathfinders may not be very happy about it, it also means that they are hidden from view... despite the tenacious salted fish smell.
Success! That'll be enough to disrupt the meeting and close the Oyster for the day. Assuming you return to the alchemist's den:
Returning to the sewers as the sun goes down in a fiery sky, you find that the man you were looking for, the alchemist called Lazslo "the Leper", has returned to his lab to cause more mischief. As you arrive, he's currently dosing the lingering drug addicts with a new strain of his drug. His mad eye turns to you, inspecting you thoroughly until a wide grin combining sick joy to a hint of dismay crosses his face.
"So you are the meddling ones my loyal subjects told me about. I suppose you're here for the recipe to the whip. My greatest creation! You'll never have it. Die!" he calls out as he prepares to attack you.

Laszlo is the first to react, and drinks a strange-looking green bubbly concoction of his. Instantly, his moves appear to be much quicker and precise.

Haldoc will try to move through the druggies in order to approach the chemist and attack him! On the assumption I actually get there,

Yay! "Honest" sailing pays off, it seems xD
The green sailor walks forward and takes his net from his belt as he walks forward. Once nearly behind Kitty, he shouts in a surprising yet authoritarian manner:
"Get the drug addict, mates! Deadoralive!"
FREEBOOTER'S BANE: +1 to hit / +1 to damage against Laszlo!
Kitt Theos

Seems like where i'll move Terra will provoke AoO, just remembered. Also in case it wasn't clear, double move for Eidolon, standard for Kitt to cast guidance.

Hikari takes a brief moment to study the alchemist in detail, before nocking an arrow to let fly at him.

Haldoc rushes into battle but misses the elusive alchemist, Hikari's arrow suffers the same fate, as the rest of the team gets close enough to confront Laszlo in a more physical way.
The alchemist strikes at Terra with his dagger, although he doesn't seem too threatening with it.
AoO @Terra: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d4 ⇒ 1
Suddenly, another threat comes up! The beetle that was hiding near the statue comes out of its lair and emits a brief but intense flash of light.
All creatures within 10 ft of it (Haldoc, Terra, Mouser and Laszlo) must succeed on a DC 12 Fort save or be dazzled for 1d3 round. If you fail the save I'll let you roll for your own duration.
Fort DC 12 (Laszlo): 1d20 ⇒ 12
Laszlo easily manages to avert his eyes from the creature he knows all too well.
Laszlo takes a step back and throws a bomb at the fearsome lion!
RTA (fire damage): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
4 splash damage @Kitty, halved if she succeeds a DC 14 Ref save.

Hikari frowns in frustration as his arrow goes wide. He dashes forward to bring himself closer to the alchemist. Ignoring the beetle for now, he nocks another arrow and fires at the alchemist.
