Yagi moves to peek around the corner where he hears sounds. If there's no one in the hall, he quietly pads down to investigate.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

![]() |

Azygg follows Yagi as best he can down the hole and in the lower level. He keeps some distance between himself and the hunter lest he make noise and disrupt the stealthiness of the tengu...

![]() |

Well, now that you mention it, I'm bringing my flashlight, machine gun, box of grenades, 5th Armored Division, ...
No, I didn't say I was, and since he has low-light vision the light from the room above is probably enough by Yagi's estimate for what he was planning. And Azygg with his darkvision wouldn't have needed any. Lay it on me. :-)

GM Iff |

At the edge of his vision, Yagi can see three prison cells lining the walls, with a straw pallet in each. He can vaguely make out two figures in two of the cells. One of them whispers to the other. "Не волнуйся, брат. Гэта будзе ў парадку."
The figure whispering suddenly turns to Yagi. Apparently, he has no trouble seeing in the dark. "Hey," he whispers urgently, in Common. There's a pause. "You're not with these brutes, are you? If you let me and my brother go, we'll give you a valuable magic item."

![]() |

Motioning surreptitiously for Azygg to remain hidden, Yagi steps into full view and moves down the hall.
The brutes have been captured, ured. Who are you and why are you kept prisoner, er?
If the light down the hall gets darker than torchlight, where his low-light vision fails, Yagi will light a torch using the Spark orison before moving.

GM Iff |

Yagi lights a torch, causing the two figures to shield their eyes for a moment. With more light to see by, Yagi can see that it's two dwarven men occupying the cells. They're thin and unkempt, but otherwise in good condition. The man who had spoken out earlier continues in hushed tone. "By Torag, I hope you're telling the truth. I'm Barengar, this is my brother Pietro. We're clockwork engineers. Our ship was attacked by lake pirates, and we're being held ransom here. You say the brutes have been dealt with? Are you sure? They have a freak down here that blends right into the wall! It could be in this very room and you'd never know it! It holds the keys to our cell, it does..."
I've updated the visible parts of the map, and added a picture of Barengar to slide 4.

![]() |

Yagi takes a defensive stance.
Yes, we have met them, em.
He calls out behind him.
Be on the lookout for a skulk, ulk! Someone block the trapdoor, and let's bring down as much light as we can muster, er.
He pokes at a wall with his torch, then turns his back to it once sure there's no skulk present, and begins to light more torches.

GM Iff |

Yagi creates more light, but doesn't spot the skulk. The dwarf stands up, holding the bars of his his cell. "So, are you going to get us out of here? As I said, those thieves took one of our creations. You're welcome to it, if you can get us out of here. I'll even show you about the secret compartment. I don't think those bastards have found it yet. The item should be in the office of their leader, somewhere in the hallway to the left."
Waiting for the others to come up to speed as well. No one will jump out at you just yet, so you have some time to regroup and such, decide where to go next.

![]() |

We will release you, but we do not yet have the key, ey.
Yagi whistles for Yiel-Dan. The great reptile cocks an eye down the long shaft and squawks refusal to go.
Oh, come on, you big baby, ee. I will lift you out with rope if needed, ed. Get down here! I need that big nose of yours, ors.
After a few more squawks of annoyance, Yiel-Dan drops down the shaft, wings steady to provide a brake on falling. He bounces off the walls twice, then flumps onto the floor with a dull thump and immediately nips at Yagi. After spitting out several large black feathers, he seems a little mollified and cocks his head at Yagi expectantly.
Ouch! Well, I guess I deserved that, old friend, end. Now, Hunt!
Yagi takes a dried jerky morsel from a pouch and tosses it in Yiel-Dan's mouth. Yiel-Dan then proceeds to sniff the corridor for unusual smells. He squawks in triumph as he finds his quarry!
Yes, es. We know about the dwarves, arves. Now find the other thing, ing.
Yiel-Dan sulks that his successful hunting was not appreciated, but returns to the search.
Perception, Scent 30ft: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
He seems pretty annoyed at Yagi, looking back frequently as if to say, "Is this good enough? How about now?".
Giving myself 1 point of nonlethal damage because that was so much fun to write. :-)

Dindal follows Laurallei and also joins the others. Keeping an eye on the hidden creature (and having a loaded crossbow)

![]() |

Yes, of course, orse. Sorry, Azygg, I didn't notice you there, ere.

GM Iff |

You're going to have to decide what to do next, or where to go. As seen on the map, there are a number of doors/hallways to try.

![]() |

Sounds good.
Yagi listens at the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
If he hears nothing, and no one objects, he opens the door.

![]() |

Shera ducks as Yiel-Dan bounces off the wall right by her head. After hearing Yagi offer to help the dwarves and about the skulk. She readies her bow to shoot anything that isn't friendly. "Let's try a bit of stealth first Azygg. We can try to deal with one room at a time then."

GM Iff |

Opening the first door on the right reveals an interrogation room. A heavy metal chair with straps mounted on high, flat armrests sits against the center of the north wall. To one side is an unlit brazier, and to the other is a small table covered with metal instruments. Two more comfortable-looking chairs sit directly across from it. The room is currently empty.

![]() |

Potions and unguents mean nothing to me. Anyone have any Craft Alchemy?
Yagi makes a point on dragging the shaft of his sansetsukon along the perimeter of the wall, just in case any skulks are skulking, before leaving the room.
Across the hall next, ext?

![]() |

After Azygg points the stains out, Shera studies the stains."I wonder if these are the same alchemical agents that we saw next to the murdered cleric at the circus? If they are here's some proof the citizens might believe, that the murders aren't coming from inside the circus."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

![]() |

Craft Alchemy here.
Dindal inspects the alchemical spills next to the metal chair, wondering what they could be.
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

GM Iff |

Dindal finds that there is all kind of alchemical reagents, many of them used by alchemists to create magical effects, on themselves or others. Shera, Azygg and Laurallei then hear some hushed sounds coming from outside of the room, and Yiel-Dan squacks in response to some new smells nearby. However, the half-orcs curse prevents him from acting on his sense just yet.
Outside in the hallway, illuminated by a myriad of torches but attempting to move silently, are two of the Guild's men. Behind them is a woman not unknown to Shera: Mistress Robella Monchello, clad in an alchemist's apron and with plenty of pouches and vials on her body. She appears to have taken a concoction that gives her characteristics of a feral animal: Her hair is wild, she has large fangs and her nail look razorsharp. "Hold them off," she command the two men in front of her when she notices they've been spotted. "I'm waking Onamae to help you."
Picture of Robella added to the Maps presentation. We're nearing the end of the scenario. Good luck!

While Shera calls Erastil's blessing on the Pathfinder, Yiel-Dan storms forward. However, the bird finds that he's not quick enough to place an attack yet. Only single action in surprise round.
The woman, Robella, opens the door in the hallway and extracts herself from the fight for now. "Wake up, Skulk!" you hear her shouting. "Time to earn your pay. Get our there, by stealth, and give them something to worry about."
Meanwhile, the two men with Robella raise their weapons. "They're sending in a bird?!" The man in red, who looks to be the better fight of the two, directs his companion around the flank of Yiel-Dan. The man in blue isn't willing to do more than a shuffle. As a result, both of their short swords fail to injure Yagi's companion.

Dindal misses, as does Yiel-Dan, but Yagi doesn't mess about. He hits the thug, leaving the man gravely wounded. He seems ready to bolt, in any case. Shera has a clear shot at the man in the red jerkin. Her arrow strikes true, hitting the rogue in the thigh. He still stands however.
The man in blue looks panicked, but has nowhere to run. "Come on, man. Back me up," he calls out to his fellow. Together, they step up to Yagi. The panicked man in blue doesn't hit, and steps back. The rogue in the red jerkin seems like a much better sword fighter. His strike takes Yagi in the neck, causing lots of blood and sending Yagi unconscious. Crit on Yagi, 10 damage
Meanwhile, it seems another rogue has managed to sneak around the other room. The door next to Dindal opens, revealing another thug. "It was wrong of you to come here," he lisps. "The Gilded Hands will prevail!"
I've indicated Robella's path with the green arrow.

I noticed the irony, Yagi. You did not have the dying condition, though, at 0 hit points with 1 nonlethal damage. That makes you unconscious, but you don't have to stabilize.
Dindal's spell does not knock it's target down, but the added wound from Yiel-Dan is enough to drop the rogue in the red jerkin down. Azygg shows his terrible might, cleaving through the newcomer's skull in one fell swoop. That leaves only the frightened thug in the hallway, who seems ready to run for the door.

Yiel-Dan can make an attack of opportunity, if he wants. We're still in combat rounds, because of the actions of Robella. You can assume that doors are open, once someone (PC or NPC) has gone through. If you steps next to a door, you can remove the rectangle obscuring that room on the map.
