This is Todd.
I'm looking strongly at playing a Sorcerer, but I'm more then willing to adapt as necessary to the needs of the group. I'm also interested in the Rogue, Alchemist, and Bard as possible other choices if someone else really wants to play a Sorcerer, or if those classes fit the group better.

This is one of my aliases from a recent play-by-post Pathfinder Society game I made. Some of the alias character sheets can get pretty elaborate, so here's an example of some things people do.

Tag conventions: typically, people do bold for spoken words in-character. If they want to discuss game mechanics they will use out of character tags.
You might want to practice dice rolling.
Attack 1 vs Zombie Lord: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 2 = 13

Click on your name. There should be an edit my profile tab over to the right. All the stuff below Idruzi's name is in the race & class entries which, obviously, I've used for a lot more than just that.
His class line is
| Speed 30ft | Agile Feet: 3/5; Ferocious Strike: 5/5; Channel the Lucky Drunk: 2/4; Pearl of Power I: 0/2; Miracle Worker: 0/1; Reroll +4: 0/1And his race line is
| HP 42/42 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23, CMD 19 | F: +6, R: +3, W: +7 (+2 vs fear, +1 vs fire) | Init: +3, Perc: +2, SM: +9 | Resist: cold 2, elec 4

So, my current idea for what to do in this play-by-post section is to run some of the higher-level PFS scenarios.
I doubt that we'll be able to keep pace with the actual playtest, since they want one part done every two weeks and play-by-post is crazy slow. Using pre-published scenarios means that I will just have to swap out some monsters and substitute skills DCs to keep the action moving, though.
One alternative is that I could get one of the higher-level modules to run instead. It wouldn't be as Pathfinder Society-flavored but would share most of the other advantages of using the PFS scenarios.
We could also attempt to keep up with the normal playtest. I'm just skeptical that we'd succeed. Some play-by-post groups do keep up a pretty frantic pace, but it takes a lot of focus and work...mostly negating the benefits of this style of play.

If possible, I would like to try and keep up with the playtest. Perhaps skipping every other adventure, and leveling our characters in-between modules so that we remain level appropriate. Part of the playtest is to test both the characters, and the modules, for appropriateness. It might be hard to do that if we're not even running the adventures.

We could try it here. My idea was that the live playtest group could keep up with the playtest adventure, but there's no really good reason to not try.
I guess the only other counterargument I can think of is that if we go off to do our own thing, we can test the higher level ranges. I don't know how high level the playtest adventure goes.

Rumor has it that this is going to be a year long playtest, with the full level range being played at time goes on.
*edit: One of the Developers often stated design goals of the edition change, was to make the whole 1-20 spread playable, and to thoroughly test it at every level to make sure that everything works as intended.

The books are out now! Ideally, we should start play on Tuesday. Please start character creations as soon as you can so we can be ready to go.

I'm ready to start whenever you guys have a party together. The first gameplay thread post is up, so you can start posting there as well.

Those who have characters ready can start posting in the Gameplay thread if they want to. We need to get things moving.
