Darius Flood |
I might just tag along there, Augustus. That yard looks interesting and I'm pretty good with my hands and putting things together. I picked me up a lil alchemy too.
Depending upon how far this goes, Darius may take a level or two of alchemist.
While tagging along with Agustus, Darius will be looking around for items and being followed/watched.
A number of perception rolls in case they are needed...
Perception 1d20+6
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
A number of craft alchemy checks to look for stuff useful for making gunpowder etc.
alchemy 1d20+6
alchemy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
alchemy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
alchemy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
alchemy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Augustus Ivers |
machinesmiths can look at wizard or magus spellbooks and get prototypes (basically spells).
not alchemist books though, i was just seeing if that was also possible in game. no biggie though.
"I see you've got a bit of an entourage. Are there people out to get you, or is that just standard procedure out here?"
Silas Warner |
More than enough time for what? replies Vigus. Yes,...Master Goggles, it is good to be safe in an area such as this. A small town like this does not exist in a hostile environment for long without vigilance.
Darius Flood |
Certainly, a couple of hours sounds right.
Next, Darius turns to Silas
Be sure to have someone keep an eye on our prisoners, Silas. If you are wanting us to make arrangements to do shiftwork watching them, best speak up now. I'll always do my share.
With that he turns to follow Augustus toward the scrap yard.
Silas Warner |
Maybe we should take turns on watch as our footmen are fairly green.
Vigus. Do you have any place to put our captures? Silas inquires as he points to the gnolls.
Of course. My men will takecare of them, if you wish.
Please don't just help yourself to the scrapyard. That is how we make our income here. You may purchase scrap from the smith, or earn it. states Vigus.
Merrilin Thomdril |
Merrilin starts writing down some notes about key aspects of the town
If you could let me know what the result of my 2 knowledge checks are, the local one you already answered :P
Just seeing what your humble town has to offer, Mr. Vigus of city administration. What did you say the outpost's name was again?
Merrilin doesn't look up from his writing, appearing only mildly interested.
Augustus Ivers |
to the guy "You can call me Augustus. Anything I should know about that scrapyard? I was planning on looking around through the junk."
i will be looking primarily for things that are broken but not thoroughly destroyed, as i can repair things. maybe if i get lucky, something cool is laying around in there waiting for a coat of polish or duct tape or grease.
Silas Warner |
Merrilin takes out his journal book and draws a simple layout of the town's buildings, structures and landmarks. He also looks around at the buildings trying to identify the purposes of each building (blacksmith, town hall, homes etc), and anything else worth noticing such as nearby vegetation/plants and landscapes.
I'm not sure what the rules are for taking a 20, but if I'm able to do it I'd like to take a 20 on the following skills:
Knowledge local (27), Knowledge Geography (23), Knowledge Nature (23) Perception (21)
It is quite dark. So there is not much to be gained from being outside right now.
Magali Nbok |
Magali has been quiet for almost all the trip and the arrival in town, mainly just nodding or shaking her head as a means of answering questions.
When they were talking about keeping watch on the gnolls she stepped forward, "I will watch the prisoners. There is very little here to busy me with otherwise."
Merrilin Thomdril |
Ah okay I was under the assumption it was earlier in the day lol. I'd like to do the checks again tomorrow morning with more light if possible.
Realizing that be won't able to discern anything else at this time, he decides to wait until tomorrow to complete his work. He puts his journal book away.
There be no needing for you to take the responsibility all by your lonesome. I'll take a shift later on for me self, to help out.
He nods his head at Mr. Vigus then turns back to his companions
See you fine fellows in a few hours
Merry starts heading in the direction of the Cantina.
Merrilin Thomdril |
Merry and his two companions start heading over to the Cantina, while walking Merry makes sure to conceal his daggers on his person so as to not appear threatening.
As they approach the Cantina, they see that the building.... any description we should be aware of? Or just an ordinary building?
Taking 10s
Knowledge (Engineering) 13, Knowledge (local) 19, Perception 11
Silas Warner |
Darius and Augustus walk over to the scrapyard under the watchful eye of the guards on the roof and the smith coming to greet them.
Silas and the other thirsty travellers are at the door of the cantina when a hoen blast rings out loud.
Someone yells out, The beast is back!
Vigus comes running out of the admin building and yells, Light the lamps!Close the gates!
A blood curling scream is heard coming from the back gate.
Roll initiative please.
Grillik |
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
If Grillik's turn comes up and there is no hostile target in view, he uses a free action to make a perception check, move action to get to a defensible position, draws his crossbow for free while moving, standard action to load the crossbow.
If there is a target in view, he will either move, draw and load the crossbow as above if it is a long distance away, or pull out his double axe and move up if it is close.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 (darkvision), additional +2 if it is gnolls again
Doc Hambleton |
With a bit more light, the guards determine that the beast that they were worried about before, was not present. Instead, two giant scorpions were snapping at the partially constructed cage around the outpost trying to grab a morsel from inside of it. Some guards are readying a ballista as you figure out what your next move should be.
scorpion 1 initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 6
scorpion 2 initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Grillik |
Are the scorpions currently stuck outside the fence just snapping in, or are they entering the compound? It sounds like they are currently stuck, so ranged weapons are most appropriate. If they come inside, that would change my reaction.
Grillik catches sight of the oversized bugs and grunts. Drawing his crossbow, he moves to find a clear line of sight and loads.
Draw crossbow while moving, move action to load. I'm assuming weapons were away since we were heading for the cantina.
Merrilin Thomdril |
what "morsel" are they trying to grab? Actual food or a person?
Perception if I don't already know1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 Move action
If I know its food they want b4 check then I used full-round action to run to the food at quadruple speed to the food
If I know its a person they want b4 check then I will go to my allies shooting at the scorpions [move action] and draw a dagger [standard action since its concealed]
If I need a perception check and I know its food they want then I will go to the food as fast as possible [move action]
If I need a perception check and I know its people they want then I will go to my allies as fast as possible [move action]
Magali Nbok |
Magali kept her distance, not wanting to get within reach of the beasts. She however stood at the ready to attack the first that managed to come through.
Move to within charging distance then ready an action to charge the first one to come through

Any PC getting too close to the barricade that surrounds the outpost is the morsel.
