1LT Margit Dastl |

After hearing "friendly fire" Margit walks over to Roy and says "Sorry about zhat."
After seeing its ok, she says, "Well fellas, ve needs to unass this place before zome faschistic Prussian heard what just happened and tries to finish zhe job."
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 to see any important landmarks.

Liam McGregor |

Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Liam will then open fire on the second kraut, hoping to end this quick.
Attack #1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage #1: 1d12 ⇒ 11
Attack #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage #2: 1d12 ⇒ 6
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Crit damage: 1d12 ⇒ 12

GM Dormin |

Roy, your eyes adjust enough for you to catch the tracks of several small animals that were there before the fighting broke out. You can also see several footprints of Germans turning and heading back to said fence and open field that you also see. If memory serves, thats where the Transmitter goes. You also see a large hedgerow on the far side of the field. A text book ambush position.

Roy MacArran |

It was an accident, I know. We're all tense... Wait. It was an accident, right?
The Scot points to the tracks and field. "Looks like our friends have taken off, and set up an ambush behind that hedge, I'm guessing. Right in the way of our delivery route, too. How would you like to proceed, Lieutenant?" The soldier then returns to looting the bodies of the fallen Nazis. Have I found anything?

Liam McGregor |

And make sure to gather any usefull gear, ammunition, first aid kits and grenades."
Liam himself goes over to the major.
Got to make sure he didn't have any battle plans on him for the germans to find, plus, I wouldn't mind a map or anything else useful he might have had.

1LT Margit Dastl |

Margit scratches her chin with her pointer finger, Zheems ve could pop zha smoke and set it up in zha confusion or ve could ambush zheir ambush, she says thinking out loud.
Turning to the other troops accompanying Roy and her, "How many smoke grenates do zhou have?"

GM Dormin |

Margit at this very moment, you realize how bad the situation actually is. The only way to the spot in which you are told to place the transmitter, is right SMACK DAB in the middle of that field. You can also see defense forces inside the large hedge row, behind them through you don't know if there are more reinforcements there. In reality there is no way to have actually planned for this to happen.
Liam, The major has no plans on him. You all were taught to memorize the plan to the letter before the jump. Anyway, there is nothing of use to the mission other then what ammo he may have been carring. Oh darn, he has 30-.06 rounds in stripper clips...you can't use stripper clips in your BAR.
Keith, you think its a claw mark from a dog honestly. the wound is not disinfected or treated. Whatcha gonna do bout it?

1LT Margit Dastl |

"Well, I thinkz our best bet is to sneak in as far as we could, pop smoke, plant the transmitter under the concealment of the smoke and crawl back to the fence and hope ve can hold the position till help comes..." she says to Roy mostly but also to the other troopers there.
Roy, troopers any suggestions?

Roy MacArran |

"Sounds like a fine enough plan to me, Lieutenant. If we all have grenades, though, it might not be a bad plan to pop smoke even before moving in, keep dropping them as we set it up whenever the smoke starts clearing, and hold position while hopefully getting those reinforcements.
"Who here knows about setting up this hunk o' junk, though? I'm trained well enough, but it'd be nice to know you lot can survive without."
Anything I'm getting from the Germans' bodies, though, GM?

Liam McGregor |

"Useless to the end...the one good thing you did was not carry a copy of our plans for the Germans to find."
Turning to the remaining soldier, Liam nods.
"Nothing to do for him? Did you get his ammo and grenades? Good, let's go, we need to find the others."
Saying so, Liam and the soldier moves on in a crouch.

1LT Margit Dastl |

Turning to Roy, Lets low crawl to set the maschina up, before we do we pop smoke, which gives us cover to run back to a more defensible position. These two pointing at the other two soldiers move to the left flank and initiate contact upon unser hand signal, ve set it up, and make it back.

GM Dormin |

Marget/Roy: Troopers: Roger! The two troopers get up and one gets pelted in the head by a sniper...man the dice did not like that plan... the 2nd trooper drops back down behind the fence. Surviving trooper: Sniper keep your heads down. He called out loud enough for the rest of them to hear. Non-comp: To both Margit and Roy. We cannot sit here any more. They are probably getting mortars on us right now. In the distance the sound of airplanes can be heard moving in. Times up. Non-Com: god damnit we need to move... 1st through 3rd squads get ready to charge. We are out of time here. Weapons and ammo only. The other troopers begin dropping the more useless gear that they had for this. oh to answer the distance question. 300 yards of flat open field. the transmitter goes right in the middle of it. So really you only need to go 150 yards forward.
Liam: In the distance your small force finds the main attack force huddled down by a fence near a field. Congradulations you found your comrades! there are three squads, 2 officers and 1 non com there. A total of 15 troopers. Add on Liam and his other 3 troopers that now makes 18 troopers standing at the ready.
Keith: (really trying to push this along sorry guys. Im ready to get into the meat of the game. This is just the tutorial >:D *evil gm face activate*) Keith: you successfully patch up the scratch. Oshey: I heard a group was about to charge up ahead. Not a good idea for a lot of us to be bunched up like that but its where were spose to go. Come on if we hurry we can make it there in time. In fact YOU DO! you arive about the same time as Liam does. Now there is 20 total units for the assault, 3 being officers, 1 non com and 16 regular troopers.
ALL OF THEM: (finally I can start putting you all in one section of post) Non-Com: Good to see you boys.

1LT Margit Dastl |

Dastl looks over the troopers, Spread out, keep zour intervals, Ve don't want one grenade to take out a squad!!!! Look across at that hedgerow... it isnt our f?$King objective, the damned middle is... Set the MGs to the left and right. Get us a sharpshooter or two to the front and take that bastard out!
She then turns to the PCs and an NPC officer or an experienced Sergeant, Ve can probably fill the area vit smoke and sneak in and set up the transmitter...

Liam McGregor |

Liam smiles grimly as he hunches down with the others.
"I have the sad news to report the confirmed death of the major, so until we can link up with the captain, that puts you in overal command 1st Lieutenant."
While reporting in a brisk fashion, Liam cannot quite keep the relsih out of his voice when he reports the majors demise.

1LT Margit Dastl |

Dastl frowns at hearing the demise of the Major, then shrugs her shoulders in apathy and asks the respectful question out of duty, "Zou didn't happen to get his dogtag, did zhou?"
So you guys want to do the smoke grenade idea or does anyone else have a better way to get out of this shitsandwich?

Roy MacArran |

"Smoke sounds fine to me," Roy says, setting the body of the sniped soldier onto the ground gingerly and closing the eyes. What weapon did he have? Roy is a scavenger.
Once the others have moved over, Roy nods to each of them. "Lovely of you to join us on this day! Time to kick some arse, though." Yanking the pin from the smoke grenade, Roy lobs it over the cover toward the middle of the field. "Let's move."

GM Dormin |

Non Com: What the hell machine guns you people talking about. We didn't jump with any .30 cals. POP SMOKE!!!
All the allied soldiers pull out there smoke grenades and toss them into the open field. The Germans open fire, giving away they have MG42 placements there. the 16 soldiers pile over the fence and hit the deck. The soldiers start vanishing into the smoke so your not exactly sure where everyone is after that but you do know they are in a line ahead of you all.
The number of Germans is unknown. And NOBODY is stopping to check. Before the non com goes he litterally, picks up roy and throws him over the fence before he has time to loot the allied soldier. Non Com: SIR QUIT WASTING TIME THE PLANES ARE ALMOST HERE!

Liam McGregor |

"Sorry, LT, no dog tags, wasn't in any shape to salvage," Liam lies smoothly.
At the treatment of Roy, Liam barks a short laugh.
"Discipline is second to action with this lot."
After that, he to jumps the fence and heads into the smoke.

Roy MacArran |

5d100: 5d100 ⇒ (20, 45, 11, 14, 43) = 133
"That's what I get for thinking speed over strength," Roy mutters as he lands on the other side of the fence--though his reaction speed does let him fall a little more gracefully than expected. He almost immediately begins crawling along the ground on his stomach, loaded carbine in hand.

GM Dormin |

Tired of waiting for liam we go now.
17d20 ⇒ (10, 4, 5, 3, 17, 5, 18, 19, 2, 7, 17, 15, 8, 10, 1, 11, 14) = 166 Allies counter attack
ok...so...erm... 20d100 ⇒ (72, 86, 28, 25, 12, 34, 2, 27, 1, 60, 75, 70, 14, 89, 20, 51, 84, 56, 43, 31) = 880 enemy luck of actually hitting you in the smoke and prone.
17d100 ⇒ (21, 94, 15, 53, 20, 54, 29, 4, 1, 37, 42, 67, 55, 87, 22, 20, 35) = 656 allies chance of hitting cuz of the smoke.
Alright...thats a lot of numbers. BUT you guys are in luck, for the most part.
The worst thing that happens in this first part of the charge is that one of the allies has his rifle shot right out of his hands, it is now useless. He has to resort to a pistol now. You advance 10 ft a round, OR I could skip you guys ahead, calculate the casualties as if you went the full 150 yards. Your choice.

GM Dormin |

eh good enough. Oh by the way...let it be known...there is gonna be a SHAZBOT ton of numbers that are goin into this...its likely one of ya will get dingged up.
ALRIGHT. This is about how it happens.
As the party progresses through the smokey terrain the hailstorm of bullet fire rains down on them. It is a rather impressive feat of firepower. The allies make it to their target location as the sounds of heavy aircraft are heard, along with the subtle, unmistakable sound of German 88s firing up at the bombers. The allies are here. As the transmitter gets set up, 2 men get hit by a sudden mortar barrage. There is nothing left of them. Finally however. The transmitter is set (don't worry about rolls...ima give you that) Another three men get peppered by the MG-42 fire.
non Com: RETREAT! RETREAT! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! The surviving troopers start running back to a the rally point, a few miles back to the shoreline.

1LT Margit Dastl |

Upon reaching the rally point, Dastl looks at the remaining troopers and says, "Great job, vet's stay on 50% alert, ve need to keep noise discipleen, the other half enjoy zour K-rats...
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
She then looks at the rest of the group, "Are zou fellas allzight?"

GM Dormin |

alright, thank you all for being patient with this game. As a reward for surviving your D-Day Jump you are given 2 things. Firstly LEVEL UP! Secondly you all have lost enough will saves to move into the first tier of insanity which is insomnia. You will need to make a will save at the end of the night to sleep each night without visions of the war flashing before you.
The next part of your objective is to meet up with the rest of the army at Carintan. Nothing happens on your way out. The germans are too focused on the other paratroopers that landed in. Your small squad gets a breather. You get this night for free, no will save, after today though unless you get your insomnia looked at you will not be able to go to bed without a will save.
When you get there, you meet up with the rest of the boys that survived. Out of the 300 some odd troopers that jumped, only 25 made it from your area of jump. There are some friendly hello's shared. Suddenly the number turns into 26 when the good captain shows up. He is being carried by a wheel barrel, operated by an unarmed German, being held at pistol point.
Captain: Heya boys and girl. How is life going for ya? He rolls by giving everyone a glance that he had been shot in the leg and somehow managed to survive, That is one tough bastard.

1LT Margit Dastl |

The John Wayne character from the Longest Day... Or Vandy,... should we roll for hp?
Dastl looks at the Captain and gives him a salute but very quickly to not make him a target for snipers. "Sir, mission accomplished although ve lost a lot of good trooperz, how zou holin up, sir?"
"Vould zou like me to interrogate za prisona?"

GM Dormin |

Captain: Interrogate him? Nah he is just a conscript. That and he is my mode of transportation back to Carantan. Our boys will be pushing into it tomorrow. The whole damned army should be heading that way so we will be able to get fresh supplies later...ach damn this leg hurts. Hey Medic ya wanna take a look at this leg for me before I roll off?
You will get your full Hit die, and if you are wounded add the hp you get to your current. So if you have 10 hp and your hit die is 6 you now have 16. If you had 5/10 and gained 6 total health you will now have 11/16 health. Sound fair to you all?
