The last goblin goes down in a heap of blood, entrails, and drool.
End of combat. 100 xp for each PC
It appears that the woman will live, thanks to your quick action. Several townspeople come out of their hiding places to take her and the child. 'We'll get her somewheres safe, masters.' Says one man, gingerly lifting her. 'Looks as if you have other things to worry about.'
Indeed, he is right, because over your shoulder, toward the cathedral, a huge plume of black smoke is rising. Then the sound strikes you. It's as if someone took a roomful of cats, taught them to sing, and then set them on fire while they were singing. The first verse wafts its way towards you over the sounds of battle.
Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins bite.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Words to live by, if you are a goblin, apparently, as you see several menacing a horse near some stalls. A large group of them are carrying torches, seemingly intent on setting the bonfire materials alight. They are led by this creature who appears to be leading the singing.
A quick look can tell you that the guards are scattered and/or occupied. You are the nearest help Sandpoint has...

Yelena Shukhov |
Initiative
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Yelena moves forward, whispering in the language of magic and making a few quick movements with her free hand. She reaches out to one of the goblins and makes a fist in the air as though to crush it's head from afar. "Oh, my goodness! Look at your friend's weapons! They are so rusty and dull! I think it would be so neat if you were to help them by cleaning and sharpening their weapons! Why don't you go get them so they can be nice and ready for battle? The ones right over there, by the church!"
Yelena will advance to square G-3 and cast charm person (DC 18 Will) on the goblin in square G1. Hopefully the goblin will go attempt to disarm one of its allies in the second group, but if that is something it is not likely to do, then here is the opposed Charisma check.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

1st Round Summation:
Yelena casts a spell on the goblin in front of her, who promptly turns and runs to the nearest stall. He quickly grabs a chunk of beef and hurls it at another goblin by the cathedral, yelling: Oi! Ghavalsh ak' togalashk!
Speak Goblin
Pietro slides up behind Yelena, watching for more goblins to appear from around the stalls.
Gimble's shot strikes true, embedding itself deep in the goblins thigh.
Khalad's axe takes the goblin's head clean from its shoulders.
Not to be outdone, Torillan's blade goes clean through his goblin, to emerge from the other side, covered in green blood.
Rogar steps up and grants the blessings of Torag on all of you.

Old Guy GM |

Ok, couple of things here:
1. This was a surprise round, so technically you all should have had ONE action. However, I wasn't very clear on this, so I let it go to a full round. I did label the first map of this encounter as the "Surprise Round", so lets all watch for that.
2. Keep an eye on the coordinates. Map Tool, for some reason, will assign negatives to some letters and numbers. Watch for them when you plot your move. I think you all caught that, but making sure here.
3. Jeez, can you roll any better?
Round 2

Yelena Shukhov |
Yelena sighs, seeing Torillan attack the charmed goblin, "It's not as though I'm under any obligation once that spell is over, you know. Half the fun of charming the little buggers is betraying their artificial loyalty. Nothing quite like watching that sparkle of trust die out in their eyes..."
My sorcerer is specialized in enchantment spells, so most of them are battlefield control by incapacitating enemies. If you go and hack them apart right after I cast the spell, I might as well have learned evocation spells instead. They are supposed to free you up to attack other enemies. Just saying.

Good point. I will keep that in mind for the future. No harm intended.

The dice roller does not calculate criticals. Hit 'Preview' to see your dice rolls before posting and simply make a note of the damage after confirming the critical roll.
Agreed. If the preview shows a threat, roll another set (confirmation and damage), and put in the spoiler as well.
