Hezrou 3 & 4 smile at eachother, then peering up at Elros flying in the air they each castChaos Hammer on Elros:
Multicolored explosions of leaping, ricocheting energy, like the Jade Regeant's fireworks, engulf Elros for 10d8 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 3, 5, 1, 8, 8, 8, 5) = 50. Elros is slowed for 1d6 ⇒ 1 rounds. Will save DC18 halves these effects and damage.
| Sandin Graysmire |
Sandin takes a bit of sponge out of his spell component pouch, gives it a squeeze and defensively casts horrid wilting.

Sucking the moisture out of the fell beasts before him, Sandin hopes only to quell the stench.
| Elros of Amrothe' |
Will save vs. DC18: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35 Save! Takes 25 and not slowed.
Elros gritted his teeth and threw off most of the Chaos Hammers.
Round 2______________
Elros grinned mirthlessly.
"An excellent try. My turn."
He drew Icosiol fully and unloosed a full attack rapid shot point blank deadly aim barrage into Hezrou 4.

Okay! I'd like to explore some more of this module with you guys but this encounter is giving me fits. The creatures are too big, bad map, no RPing potential for the monsters. If you don't mind I'm just going to dues ex this. Sorry!
Sandin Wilts the monster nearest him. Gabi slices the other to pieces with her fan, which fall into the pool and are sucked down the drain. Elros pincousions a third with lightening arrows. It falls dead amid the steamy bath waters. The fourth, seeing his friends die, turns tail and runs. As he does, Elros lands a perfect shot right in the nape of it's neck, critical hit, dropping it to the floor. You have slain Izmiara's prime torturers, the Breakers of Heaven!
Hope everyone is okay with that. RP yourselves on to the next room and I will get the exploration post togeth, okay!
| Sandin Graysmire |
They were far to close for my comfort, with a stench like that, I would have not wanted them within ten strides.

The Lady rubs her stomach, taking several deep breaths while she daintily flicks demon blood off of her fan. "The stench was nothing short of atrocious. I do wonder what lies below us. The water has to be flowing somewhere," she says.

C6. CORRIDOR OF PAlN
This ceiling of this long corridor is littered with hanging chains, most of which are full of broken prisoners wearing sharp, seven-pointed crowns of iron, their wails of suffering echoing in the tight space. Other rent bodies cover the floor, their forms torn limb from limb and left to rot slowly. Izmiara's torturers have done their work well! The cosmos is glad to be rid of them. You all deserve metals.
MAP UPDATED.
| Sandin Graysmire |
Seeing that we will be going nowhere until the prisoners are down, Sandin and Simwyn assist in the process. One at a time they help bring them down.
| Elros of Amrothe' |
Gathering as many together as he can, Elros will Channel Positive Energy for 8d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 2, 6, 4, 6, 3) = 24 healing. Hopefully this will produce a positive effect on the health of all concerned.
Gabrielle d'Apcher

The Lady takes a moment to overcome the initial shock, then takes her time observing the victims, looking for any clues regarding who they are, where they came from, or how they got here.
Any familiar-looking people amongst them?
| Sandin Graysmire |
Sandin Helps gather the bodies and look through them as well.

No one familiar looking Gabi. And they are simply beyond healing.
As you continue you come to a massive chamber. MAP UPDATED.
Hanging gibbets sway from the ceiling of this massive cylindrical chamber above the mist-covered ground fifty feet below. On the chamber's north wall, an uneven hole breaches the wall thirty feet above the mist, while an enormous succubus statue straddles a triangular doorway at ground
level to the south.
The mist along the chamber's floor is dark and thick, and acts as natural fog (Core Rulebook 439 ) to a height of 10 feet from the floor.
There is HEAVY breathing in this room. It must be a massive creature.
this should be a good encounter...
| Elros of Amrothe' |
Saddened at their failure to rescue the torture victims, Elros knelt and prayed for the souls of the departed.
When they came to the massive chamber, Elros concentrated on a Detect Evil.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33

"I see that tastefulness is not one of Izimara's interests," the Lady quips, reacting to the statue as the party reacts to their surroundings. "I do hope that the residents of this place are in better shape."

Elros gets mixed signals from detect evil, a VERY strong Good aura, but also a VERY strong evil one, inhabiting the same area of the room in the mist, in the SouthEast side. Straining his eyes he might have caught the faint swish of a massive tail, but he can't be sure.
| Elros of Amrothe' |
Elros frowned.
"I don't understand. I sense great Evil, as well as great Good, over in that general direction." He said tightly.
He pointed in the direction he sensed, also readying his bow just in case.
| Sandin Graysmire |
Hmm, well let us take a look but be on guard.
Nixie

As you step into the room a wind picks up. The mist clears. The light level rises, and an adult gold dragon - a wonderful specimen - rises to full height before you.
Ah, visitors from outside? How is it you made it past Izmiara's torturers? No one ever comes this far into the RING of AGONY without being "accompanied".
MAP UPDATED WITH DRAGON ICON. Huge, reach 10 (15 with tail swing)
| Sandin Graysmire |
Hmmm a gold dragon, I wonder what beings him here. An of place indeed for one of his philosophy. Sandin peers at him with his arcane sight curious if the is any illusion magic going on here.
He also rattles his brain to see if he recognizes this dragon. There are not too many of his age out there. knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (1) + 33 = 34

Sandin sees no illusions, and recognizes this fabulous dragon:
The dragon in a male voice states: I am THASTRAKNA. Great prince of the nine hells. Who let you down here? I'll bet it was that disobidient little b$tch Euphrixia! Tell me the truth! The dragon releases vapor from it's nostrils. A truly alarming sight.
You must now overcome the dragons "Aura frightful presence (180 ft., DC 24)". Make the will save or be shaken for 5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 2, 1) = 9 rounds, unless you are immune to mind affecting or have some other trick up your sleeve!
| Sandin Graysmire |
will: 1d20 + 17 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 17 + 2 + 3 = 35
Interesting, that is not your body then a magic jar perhaps?
Do I see a maagic jar effect?

Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
Will vs. Mind-affecting: 1d20 + 20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 20 + 3 = 30
"We were successful at slipping by Euphrixia, actually," she replies to the dragon. "If I may ask, Thastrakna, for what purpose do you serve Isimara?"
Hmm... so the ground is 50 feet below us... yikes.
Nixie
|
Is there some spell or skill that would allow a character to tell that? I'm not familiar with any rules on the subject. Yes, I guess we did say the ground is 50 feet below you. Which means you would be almost looking down on the dragon!
| Sandin Graysmire |
Magic Jar would be the most common way to posses another creature. Some demons may have other means. If it was magic jar, Sandin would see the necromancy aura with arcane sight and have a pretty good idea, especially because he uses it himself.
He is not claiming to be who the body belongs to, so it is fair to assume that yes there is a possession taking place here.
Nixie
|
Okay yes, Magic Jar is one of the demons' spell-like abilities. Which means the soul of the dragon must be around here some where. Let me see if I can find one... Okay, I got one.
Sandin begins to sense the strong Necromancy Magic, confirming his suspicions.
The dragon smiles. Not stupid, these little mortals that stand before me. Nevertheless, for all intents and purposes, I and a dragon. And you will live only as long as you can entertain me. He turns broad side to you and looks down it's own body. She does have a wonderful form, doesn't she? Do you have any idea what magic properties this creature's beating heart has? Izmiara will certainly put it to good use.
Nixie
|
I think he's referring to Elros' magic circle suggestion.
Dragon chuckles at Knute's attempt to play at his vanity: You cannot comprehend my true form, mortal. I transcend time and space. the nine hells are my home!
And answers Gabi: I battled long and hard for this creatures' body. Izmiara desired the heart of an ancient gold dragon. And I being a good lover to my mistress, agreed to find one. And in exchange she has agreed that I may enjoy its form until such time that I am satisfied. And then deliver it's heart to her. the dragon looks at it's own claws, left and right. And I have been wanted to try these puppies out! Perhaps one of you will volunteer?
| Simwyn |
Seeing the look of confusion on the paladin Simwyn continues
| Sandin Graysmire |
Sandin looks arround for where the dragon's soul might be. He looks for another necromantic aura. Magic Jar is one of the very few spells that does not need line of effect. It is entirely possible that the jar could be somewhere else and still be close enough by that possessor would be ok if expelled.
| Elros of Amrothe' |
Elros nodded.
"Ah right. I had heard it might be useful in such situations, but I know no more than that."
He looked back at Sandin.
"Will we need to beat it into unconsciousness first?"
| Sandin Graysmire |
Nixie
|
Sandin notes an aura of necromancy coming from an amber jewel beset in a necklace...which hangs around the dragon's neck. Ha! And you thought getting the Majic Jar was going to be easy!
| Sandin Graysmire |
While I can think of no reason why you would want our bodies when you inhabit a dragons you would understand our reasoning if we put up protections against such possession on ourselves before we proceed with this discussion.
Sandin casts magic circle against evil.
Nixie
|
Dragon-demon: In accordance with the rules of Parley I will allow it. But if you try any more spells in my presense I will take it to mean that tea time is over! Smoke coils from the dragons nostrils as it speaks...
| Sandin Graysmire |
Of course, now you do have me interested. What is a lord of devils doing with a bunch of demons?
